Only things we know 100% for sure are:
-There's been 21 killed(That we know of). 1 in MP, and 2 stolen from other's MP maps in MP! BE CAREFUL OPENING YOUR MAP TO MP!
-We know the locations they were shot(17 of them).
-We know their feed times are 6-8, 8-10, 10-12, 14-16, 16-18, 2-4 so presumably every 2 hours all day and night. (Confirmed they Travel>Eat>Travel>Eat constantly by Mel, and stay in a generally small area).
-We know they only have a stomach as an organ(no bones either).
-We know that half of them have longer right legs, half have longer left legs.
-We know they make a bagpipe sound as a callUPDATEthe beginning of it is "Scotland the Brave"!, but also have a 2nd call that sounds more like a cat or bird "screeching"(Very difficult to hear over 100m as stated by Junbra).
-We know they use a new spawn mechanic never seen before.
-We know of 6-7 fur types. Potentially 2-3 of each(Bald, Crested, Furry)
-We know they DO leave tracks and clues and can be tracked by dogs. (Great new pics from BananaTaigar of tracks, feed zone, poop, and Disurbed Veg!)
-We know they do have obtainable feed zones, and can be revisited after changing time.
-We know it's a Class 2 animal.
-We know they're all males.
-We know that only 2 unverified have been found at night. All others were only during morning/day/evening. UPDATE #20 was verified 02:00-0400!
-We suspect Missions are possibly required but cannot confirm.
-We believe getting 2 or more may be possible(As per Ben's "I wonder who is going to be the first double haggiser" comment)
-We know they POOP! (Thanks Banana Taigar lol!)
-We know their footprints look very "Raccoon-like" and distinct from other tracks on the map.
-We know they have a good sense of smell but other senses are not so great.
-We know they will remain on your map once discovered even after leaving the game.
-#21 was in the An Cul Region! So now we know they can be in An Cul and potentially Pinegate as well! Everything above the water line!

The running theory on them drinking is that they don't. Their only organ is their stomach so only feed. My guess is since only 1 unverified has been killed at night and it could've been 6 am snd still dark, is they have no drink time and are either despawned or travelling at night.

Just wanted to add my testimony. I've also heard a similar noise twice, but not this one I don't think? The only one I remember for sure was (I will get an img one moment) when I was trying to track a lvl 5 goat. It sounded like raising/lowering a weapon if I remember right, and I was so confused thinking I was lagging.

I have had a theory: What if you have to get a lung, heart and liver shot on a species? Since haggis is made up of those, maybe you have to shoot and animal possibly a deer species since that was said in the missions. I don't know just a thought.

It's actually not bad at all on current gen consoles. Runs smoothly. I've also got controller settings that make shots easy. I've shot 5 bears in 5 shots many times on my bear grind with the 300 AR.

I'd leave them on just in case. There's a theory around about going to an outpost and hearing bagpipe music. It doesn't always do it. A lot of the time it's woodwind or flute sounds.

Out of curiosity I wanted to see how far I've roamed Torr so far and the "Distance Traveled" in the codex appears to be broken. Mine is only showing 128.5. By now I should be in the tens of thousands. I checked Swalz that I just spent two months on and it's 0. So yea, something happened recently where distance traveled isn't being captured. Anyone else have this issue?

So I’m standing at the outpost and the signing went on for a long time

I downloaded the map and loaded it up. I immediately started in on the first mission, which I think takes you to the first lookout point and castle outpost. From there, I just continued through the mission, shooting a few animals as I went. I'm pretty sure I had finished the first two missions when I found the haggis.

I was running to the next spot early in the third mission (I think), looked up, and saw it. I thought I was in Braidside, but I was probably in the lower half of Pinegate or Heighrig. Unfortunately I didn't save the exact location.

It was daytime and sunny when I shot it. Probably about 11-12 in-game. A hilly area but not fully mountainous. It was feeding. In-game, about 4 or 5 hours had passed. IRL, maybe 1 or 2? I never fast-traveled or slept.

Prior to shooting the haggis, I think I had shot roe, fallow, and sika deer, pine marten, hog, pheasant, and possibly capercaillie. I recovered all animals I shot.
