" Welcome to Paa la Urembo la Kiafrika, Are you ready to discover one of the most diverse places in the world, climb in the mountains of the mountain range of milima yenye nyuso elfu moja (which means in Swahili: "The mountains with a thousand faces" by the fact that diverse biome is found on these mountains, and discover when you climb to the top of the dormant volcano uhaba wa miujiza wa savannah ya kutoka mashariki ("the miraculous white rarity of the east"). Go to the east to encounter swamp and mangrove, all bathed by numerous waterways such as rivers or lakes. In the south and center there is a predominance of savannah, grassland and open canopy forests, here where the most majestic animals such as the Sable, the lion or the eland are found. The whole west represents the region of the ya maziwa matatu ya gargantuan ("the three gargantuan lakes") which serve as borders with other countries. In addition to being rich in biomes such as moors, savannas or tropical forests, there are a lot of species more interesting than each other, from the smallest antelopes to the largest, or the terrible big fives and countless species of gazelles, so if you are ready, go there, do not wait and especially well in Paa la Urembo la Kiafrika, in Tanzania.

The question marks mean it's probably not possible, but I put it there anyway. Another thing, I'll leave you the freedom to choose which one will be the Great One (GO) for you. If you have any suggestions for small animals, let me know.

#

I'll say a little more this evening, because then I'm going to bury myself in a cold place, hard to bear 40°C

#

last thing I took the liberty of taking almost everywhere in Tanzania I know that this does not please some, but one it would be a shame not to have places as beautiful and as spectacular and two, they will not be mapped in Tanzania even if it is a big country, that is why I took the liberty of taking the places a little everywhere in Tanzania. I apologize for those who would like this to be fixed in one place.
P.S.:
I welcome any criticism, whether negative or positive, so don't hesitate.

Cheetah cannot be hunted in Tanzania, I base my decision on the huntable species

#

As for the questions about the elephant and the giraffe.

Regarding the elephant:

Some claim it's forbidden according to the people working on The Hunter: Call of the Wild, others claim it's not possible if the game includes them in the lodges.

So, some accept it as an animal, while others question the technique used, the real possibility of setting up this type of market, etc. It's therefore a rather difficult animal to classify into pros and cons. Personally, I'm in favor of their presence, which explains the question: is it possible to include them in the game one day?

Regarding the giraffe:
Some sites claim it's strictly protected and therefore strictly forbidden to hunt, while others claim that locals can hunt it for bushmeat.

The Sharpe's Gryspok is a small, shy, solitary antelope found from tropical to southeastern Africa.

Size: It stands about 20 inches (45–60 cm) at the shoulders and weighs only 7–11.5 kg. Males are generally slightly larger and have short, straight horns, while females lack them. These horns rarely measure more than 8 centimeters and are often partially hidden in the fur on the forehead.

Habitat: Rocky hills, but it prefers fertile areas on lower slopes, in low scrub or medium-tall grass.

Colors: Brown (common), red (common), gray (fairly common), light gray (fairly common), albino (very rare), melanistic (very rare), piebald (very rare). If I've missed any rare or common skin colors, please let me know.

@dusk gate Giraffes are aloud to be hunted in South Africa, but I’m not sure about Tanzania.

dusk gate
#

Yes, in South Africa and Mozambique if I remember correctly, or in Namibia. But I don't know, some sites say yes, locals can hunt, while others say no, it's impossible. I have the same thing with the Black Rhino, that's why I didn't put it. Some say yes, you can hunt, and others no. So I don't know.

#

and then like an idiot I discovered animals (I saw it quickly to see if it was huntable animals and others I saw in zoos.) but for example this little creature I discovered it frankly it is too cute

loud crow
#

Considered Black Rhinos are very endangered, I don’t think you’re aloud to hunt them, but I’ll try to find some out about Giraffe hunting.

loud crow
#

So I found out you can only legally hunt giraffes in Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe

dusk gate
#

wait I'm looking for the rhino, but I discovered something, Vurhonga Savannah if I remember correctly it's a map in Botswana but according to a site they are completely opposed to trophy hunting

ok, then i'll remove it from the list

#

it's good it's fixed

#

OK, the black rhinoceros has not been hunted since 1973 in Tanzania

#

I hope I balanced the animals well.

The blue duiker is a small antelope; in fact, it is the smallest duiker. Its head and body length typically range between 55 and 90 centimeters (22 and 35 inches). It reaches 32 to 41 centimeters (13 to 16 inches) at the shoulder and weighs nearly 3.5 to 9 kilograms (7.7 to 19.8 pounds). Females are slightly larger than males. The dark tail measures just over 10 centimeters (3.9 inches). A notable feature of the tail is the row of white, curly hairs on each flank that effectively reflect light, so that when the animal moves its tail up and down, it resembles a light signal in the dark habitat. The duiker has short, pointed horns, about 5 centimeters (2.0 inches) long and hidden in tufts of hair. Habitat: This species can survive in a variety of forests, including old-growth, secondary, and gallery forests. Forests are preferred because they provide the animal with shelter through the dense undergrowth and allow it to forage through the canopy. [14] It can also be found in pockets of degraded and regenerated forests, from sea level to an elevation of 3,000 meters (9,800 ft).
Fur color:

  • brown (common)
  • bluish (common)
  • gray (fairly common)
  • dark gray (fairly common)
  • black (fairly common)
  • albino (very rare)
  • melanistic (very rare)
  • piebald (very rare)
  • if I've missed a color, please let me know.

Finally, a map of its distribution.

A map is not complete without birds

dusk gate
#

Personally I didn't put birds because I consider that it is not necessary to have birds for each map. Then also there are some of the Ten tiny that I can put for if a little more rank 1 is needed, but I am already at 22 species which is already quite large because it seems that for the moment 19 is the maximum they can do.

dusk gate
dusk gate

If I had to include at least three birds, these would be three huntable species:

  • I'll start with the one that's probably going to be the least well-received but can be hunted in Tanzania, which is the Kori Bustard.
  • The second would be the Vulturine Guinea Fowl
  • And the last would be the Spur-winged Goose
If I had to include birds (we have 22 species, which is already enough, but we really need birds, so I would have included those)
I'll include photos to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Sunis stand between 30 and 43 centimeters (12 and 17 inches) tall at the shoulder and weigh between 4.7 and 7 kilograms (10 and 15 pounds), with a head-to-body length typically between 57 and 62 cm (22 and 24 inches). Males have horns 8 to 13 cm (3 to 5 inches) long, ridged for most of their length and curved backward near the head. Females do not. Sunis can emit low barks and hisses. Sunis feed on leaves, mushrooms, fruits, and flowers, and require virtually no water. They are shy, mostly active at night, and sleep during the day in shade and shelter. They are sociable, but males defend a territory.
Habitat. Sunis live in thickets, forests, dense woodlands, and riparian reedbeds in coastal regions, from sea level to 2,700 m (9,000 ft). The highest population densities are found where the shrub layer is thick, particularly in forests bordering the foothills of mountain ranges and in coral and sand dune woodlands. They are less abundant in montane forests dominated by cedar. They also migrate to degraded forests.

Dik-diks are among the smallest antelopes in the world. The largest, Kirk's dik-dik, stands between 35 and 45 cm tall and weighs no more than 7.2 kg. Female dik-diks typically weigh between 0.5 and 1 kg more than males. Only male dik-diks have horns, which are about 8 cm long, wavy, and slope backward. The horns of male Kirk's dik-diks can be straight or curved backward from the facial profile, and the basal half of the horns has seven to nine annular ridges that are frequently covered by the crest. Females are larger and hornless, while males have a more developed snout, a longer crest, and tend to be lighter in color.

Habitat:
Kirk's dik-dik prefers dry, scrubby, or wooded savannas, as well as arid scrublands.

The Thomson's gazelle is a relatively small gazelle, measuring 60 to 70 cm at the shoulder. Males weigh 20 to 35 kg, while females, slightly lighter, weigh 15 to 25 kg.
The heavily ringed horns measure 25 to 43 cm (9.8 to 16.9 in) in males and 7 to 15 cm (2.8 to 5.9 in) in females. However, females have weaker horns; some are even hornless.
The two subspecies differ in appearance. The eastern Thomson's gazelle is the larger of the two, with more subtle facial markings. The Serengeti Thomson's gazelle has a whiter face and more prominent markings. The horns of females are shorter than those of males in the eastern Thomson's gazelle, and they are more divergent in the eastern Thomson's gazelle. The two subspecies are:
E. t. nasalis (Lönnberg, 1908) – Serengeti The Thomson's gazelle occurs from the Serengeti to the Rift Valley in Kenya.
E. t. thomsonii (Günther, 1884) – The eastern Thomson's gazelle ranges from the eastern Rift Valley in Kenya and Tanzania, south to Arusha District (Tanzania), then southwest to Lake Eyasi, the Wembere River, and Shinyanga.

Habitat :
They live in savannas, drylands, grasslands, and scrublands. They are also adapted to life in arid areas and are able to remain in dry savannas longer than other ungulates in the same region, which migrate to wetter areas. They can live up to 2,000 m high.
Skin color:

  • beige (common)
  • bicolor (common)
  • albino, melanistic, piebald (very rare)
Regarding the colors, here are the first four photos; the others are intended to show you the horns.

The impala is a medium-sized, slender-bodied antelope, comparable to the kob, puku, and Grant's gazelle in size and build. The head and body length is about 130 centimeters (51 in). Males reach about 75–92 cm (30–36 in) at the shoulder, while females are 70–85 cm (28–33 in). Males typically weigh 53–76 kilograms (117–168 lb) and females 40–53 kg (88–117 lb). Females are polled and smaller than males. Males develop slender, lyre-shaped horns 45–92 cm (18–36 in) long. The horns, heavily ridged and diverging, are circular in cross-section and hollow at the base. Their arched structure allows for interlacing horns, which helps a male repel his opponent during fights; the horns also protect the skull from damage. Three distinct social groups can be observed: territorial males, bachelor herds, and female herds.

Habitat:
Wooded savannah, wooded savannah, gallery forest, bushland. They prefer proximity to a water source.

Skin color:

  • Brown (common)
  • Red (common)
  • White (uncommon)
  • Two-tone variation 1 (fairly common)

African leopard males stand 60–70 cm (24–28 in) at the shoulder, while females stand 57–64 cm (22–25 in). Head and body lengths range from 92–183 cm (36–72 in) with a tail of 66–102 cm (26–40 in). Sizes vary by region. Males typically weigh 30.9–72 kg (68–159 lb) and females 20.5–43 kg (45–95 lb). Occasionally, large males can reach 91 kg (201 lb). Leopards in the Cape Province of South Africa are generally smaller, reaching only 20–45 kg (44–99 lb) in males. The heaviest wild leopard in southern Africa weighed about 96 kg (212 lb) and measured 262 cm (103 in).
Leopard fur is generally soft and thick, notably softer on the belly than on the back. Its skin color varies among individuals, from pale yellowish to dark gold with dark spots grouped in rosettes. Leopards living in arid regions are pale cream, yellowish to ochre, and russet; those living in forests and mountains are much darker and a deep gold. The spots fade to the white belly and the inside and underparts of the legs. The rosettes are circular in East African leopard populations, and tend to be square in southern Africa and larger in Asian leopard populations. The fur tends to be grayish in colder climates and dark gold in rainforest habitats. The patterns of the rosettes are unique in each individual. This pattern is thought to be an adaptation to dense vegetation with uneven shadows, where it serves as camouflage.

#

Melanistic leopards are also known as black panthers. Melanism in leopards is caused by a recessive allele and is inherited as a recessive trait. In India, nine pale and white leopards were reported between 1905 and 1967. Leopards exhibiting erythrism were recorded between 1990 and 2015 in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa and in Mpumalanga. The cause of this form, known as the "strawberry leopard" or "pink panther," is not well understood.

# dusk gate Cheetah cannot be hunted in Tanzania, I base my decision on the huntable species

I get that but we have Iberian Wolves in CC, Bengal Tigers and Snow Leopards in SundarPatan, and Woodland Caribou in AR which are all not legal to hunt I know Nepal is currently Trying to Make Bengal Tigers Legal to Hunt Again With Conservation in mind so at this point Anything is Possible! So while I respect your opinion, at most we’ll just say
At Best Cheetahs are a “Somewhat Possible” At Most Somewhat meaning They could make it but don’t get your hopes up

dusk gate
#

I had planned to put them in the potential species anyway, because yes I know that certain animals are not actually huntable in the game.

#

They will therefore be in the same case as the giraffe or the black rhinoceros, that is to say that I will still cite them but they will not be part of the main animals of this map in some way. But I completely understand your point of view and you are not wrong

It seems to me that in a region that now they have resumed hunting. But basically it depends on the regions where the wolf is found, some regions do not accept hunting others yes. After the Iberian wolf despite this it moves further east, to a point that there is a little bit of evidence of hybridization (at least it is assumed) between the Italian wolf (coming from France) and the Iberian wolf.

The waterbuck is the largest among the six species of Kobus. The head-and-body length is typically 177–235 cm (70–93 in) and the typical height is 120–136 cm (47–54 in). Males reach approximately 127 cm (50 in) at the shoulder, while females reach 119 cm (47 in). The waterbuck is one of the heaviest antelopes. A newborn typically weighs 13.6 kg (30 lb), and growth in weight is faster in males than in females. Males typically weigh 198–262 kg (437–578 lb) and females 161–214 kg (355–472 lb). The tail is 22–45 cm (8.7–17.7 in) long. the horns that only the male wears measure 55 to 99 cm.

Habitat:
Inhabits scrub and savannah areas along rivers, lakes, and valleys. Due to their need for grasslands as well as water, the waterbuck has a sparse distribution across ecotones (interface areas between two different ecosystems).

Males weigh between 190 and 270 kg (420 and 600 lb), with a maximum of 315 kg (694 lb), and stand up to 160 cm (63 in) tall at the shoulder. Females weigh between 120 and 210 kg (260 and 460 lb) and stand up to 100 cm (39 in) tall at the shoulder; they lack horns, beards, and muzzle markings. The head-body length is 185 to 245 cm (6.07 to 8.04 ft). Males also have beards running down their throats and large, two-and-a-half-turned horns which, if erected, would reach an average length of 120 cm (47 in), with the record being 187.64 cm (73.87 in).

Habitat:

Greater kudus live in a variety of habitats, including both open and dense forests, as well as mountainous areas where bushes and thickets provide some security. They frequent deciduous forests during the rainy season and roam along rivers during the dry season, where vegetation is abundant. To move easily through dense scrub, they raise their chins and rest their horns against their backs.

Male horns are thicker and shorter than female horns (they measure between 43 and 66 cm long for males and between 51 and 69 cm for females) and are more tightly coiled.

Habitat:
Common elands live on the open plains of southern Africa and along the foothills of the Great Southern African Plateau. Elands prefer to live in semi-arid areas with abundant shrubby bushes and often inhabit grasslands, forests, sub-deserts, bushlands, and mountain peaks at altitudes of about 15,000 feet (4,600 m). However, elands avoid forests, swamps, and deserts. Eland habitats generally contain Acacia, Combretum, Commiphora, Diospyros, Grewia, Rhus, and Ziziphus trees and shrubs.
Colors (without distinction between the two eland species present on this map, namely the Patterson's and the Livingstone's):

  • gray (common)
  • rusty (fairly common)
  • dark gray (common)
  • beige (fairly common)
  • crowned gray (fairly common)
  • white (fairly rare)
  • brown (fairly common)
  • golden gray (common, especially in the Livingstone's)
  • bicolor (fairly rare)
  • albino, melanistic, leucistic, piebald (very rare).

The adult male Nile crocodile measures between 3.5 and 5 m (11 ft 6 in and 16 ft 5 in) in length and weighs between 225 and 750 kg (496 and 1,653 lb). However, specimens exceeding 6.1 m (20 ft) in length and 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) in weight have been recorded. It is Africa's largest predator and may be considered the second-largest extant reptile in the world, after the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). The largest accurately measured male, shot near Mwanza, Tanzania, measured 6.45 m (21 ft 2 in) and weighed about 1,043 to 1,089 kg (2,300 to 2,400 lb). Another large male measuring 5.8 m (19 ft 0 in) in total length (Cott 1961) was one of the largest Nile crocodiles ever recorded. Its weight was estimated at 1,082 kg (2,385 lb). Adult female Nile crocodiles typically measure 2.2–3.8 m (7 ft 3 in–12 ft 6 in), at which lengths the average female specimen would weigh 40–250 kg (88–551 lb).
Habitat:

Nile crocodiles can tolerate an extremely wide range of habitat types, including small brackish streams, fast-flowing rivers, swamps, dams, and tidal lakes and estuaries. In East Africa, they are primarily found in rivers, lakes, swamps, and dams, preferring wide, open bodies of water over smaller ones. They are often found in waters adjacent to various open habitats such as savannah or even semi-desert, but they can also acclimate to well-forested swamps, heavily wooded riparian zones, streams in other wooded areas, and the perimeter of forests.

Skin color:

  • brown (common)
  • yellow (fairly common)
  • light brown (common)
  • two-tone (fairly common)
  • gold (fairly rare)
  • orange (fairly rare)
  • green (fairly rare)
  • white (very rare)
  • light green (fairly rare)
  • dark brown (fairly common)
  • melanistic (very rare)
  • piebald (very rare)
  • albino (very rare)
  • leucistic (very rare)

Do you want me to also consider the subspecies (here I just discovered that there are 3 (the Kenyan Nile crocodile, the southern one and the eastern one) ?

Related to Hyenas wouldn't they be best suited in C:4? My reasoning is bc of their size, nature, & numbers in groups. Aside from scavenging and stealing prey the fact that they quite literally eat everything including bone with a nasty bite force I think its worth considering. Though I havn't done enough research to know on how many attacks if any are reported to gauge aggression towards humans. But as a predator I'd presume their would be some cases?

#

Other than that ? I'm pretty happy with the presentation an the narrative & species potential. I hope it gets considered 👍

ok, I guess that works I'll make the change

# mystic plinth Related to Hyenas wouldn't they be best suited in C:4? My reasoning is bc of the...

Spotted Hyenas are quite capable hunters in their own right with a high success rate, they are also a bit heavier then a grey wolf, if anything they are a Class 5 Species (And wolves should be bumped back down to Class 5). The Spotted Hyena can and will scavenge but hunt just as often as lions do, now the Striped and Brown Hyenas spend a lot of their time scavenging carrion with Brown Hyenas running cheetahs and leopards off of their kills

Honestly out of all the africa threads ive seen this is probably my favorite(in terms of species) kinda what I imagine EW doing for a africa 2 map im a real sucker for antelopes and would love to see a map loaded with them great job

My only critism is possibly add birds it makes the world feel more lively in a way maybe helmeted guinea fowl or Egyptian geese

dusk gate
#

I suggested 3 in case of birds. It's just that in a thread it was Moosedragon if I remember correctly who said that each map didn't need birds, and then I said it here, it can be replaced by the ten little ones. But if you want I can ask you the question.
Those who want at least birds (the ones I suggested, since there are 3 that should do it) put a 👍, if you think that no matter the maps, there is a need for birds, put a 👎.

If you have similar ideas or if I have put or done something wrong, please let me know. I don't have much time to deal with this and it will be for a long time.

Hello, good evening, so we are going to talk about an area that can be interesting to find on the map, both to explore (even if it is dangerous) and as a place of interest. This area is the fictional equivalent of the Dallol volcano (in the photo), being an arid plain environment, and not far from the mountains, it can be an interesting place. Also, don't forget to say what you think about the birds above.

If it's more, yes, I might add the guinea fowl.

#

ha ok, thumbs down there are basically no birds in this map because you don't have to have them for each map, but yes it's true, that Ethiopia also has ostriches etc... I chose what I found interesting in terms of look and size hence there are 3 birds there and in addition they are really huntable if I remember correctly so it's fine. The Guinea Fowl and the ostrich are also huntable birds there

midnight osprey
dusk gate
#

yes it's true, it's just that I'm already at 24 specimens (23 if the elephant is really too complicated to do) so that's why just 3 more birds, but it's already yeah a lot, I should manage to reduce the number of animals but I don't know where to start

midnight osprey
dusk gate
#

That's true, and it would please someone if I included at least these five birds, including the bustard, the vulture guinea fowl, the guinea fowl, and finally the ostrich. Yes, I'll leave the suggestion aside for a moment. It would be up to you to choose whether you want birds or not. You just have to respond to the suggestion above.

Hello, good evening, today we're going to talk about something softer, calm and relaxing, we're going to talk about musical instruments that will inspire us to create music during the next maps in Africa, today we're going to talk about the Zeze. The Zeze is a unique African string instrument. With its wooden bow and nylon or wire string stretched between the ends of the bow, it offers an astonishing palette of sounds. Musicians rub the string with a bow to produce vibrant, melodious and deep sounds.
The Zeze has a history deeply rooted in Tanzanian musical traditions.

Used for centuries by the peoples of this region, this instrument embodies the soul and spirit of Tanzanian culture.

The melodies of the Zeze have accompanied celebrations, rituals, and gatherings, creating an atmosphere imbued with mystery and beauty.

Yes, especially the northern and western parts. The south is flatter and there would be relief in the less mountainous areas. Afterwards, it is based on the topography of the country. If I remember correctly, the north and west are very mountainous and the south is closer to savannahs or other forests with mountainous relief here and there.

A map like Tanzania or Ethiopia is a map with a rich diversity of landscapes and animals. I took these two examples, but for each African country, such diversity in plants, animals and landscapes.

dusk gate
#

an idea of what one of the lowland sub-biomes in Tanzania might look like

dusk gate
#

From arid plains filled with sand to one where flowers of various shapes are hidden. From highlands, including the highest in Africa, to mangroves close to the sea. From forests to tiny but still vibrant biomes, this is what awaits you in Ethiopia. Oh yes, don't forget the variety of animals. No matter the attitude.

dusk gate
#

For this map I focused on antelopes because they have various shapes and patterns and some are the smallest in the world while others are the largest. It would be fun to "collect" them in some way.

dusk gate
#

For this map, each place will have its dangers, whether it is the savannah, the mountains or the mangroves.

dusk gate
#

There are animals found only in certain biomes, such as mountains, while others are found only in the savanna. From zebras to elephants, from the smallest antelopes to the largest, there's something for everyone.

dusk gate
#

Tanzania is home to 31 species of antelope, representing half of all antelope species currently found in the world. Here, for example, is the Roanne antelope, a very beautiful species.

dusk gate
#

We often see the elephant as a graceful giant. Okay, but there's one that surpasses it: the beautiful and majestic baobab. Instead of just one, why not a greater distribution (admittedly rarer than other tree species) of baobabs? They are simply magnificent and lend a magical quality to their surroundings.

That's a good question. They're very thin but incredibly fast. They're not really dangerous in the sense that no one has been seriously injured by this animal. I would have said around rank 3-4, I could go up to 5 if necessary, but I think 3-4 would suit it better. What would you have thought?

balmy sigil
dusk gate
#

Yes maybe 4

dusk gate
#

We mustn't forget that there are 4 species of birds in total. One is a waterfowl, and the other three are terrestrial, one of which is one of the largest living birds. I'm talking, of course, about the ostrich.

dusk gate
#

The hippopotamus is one of the new animals that will arrive in this map

dusk gate
#

The majestic elephant could be an interesting addition. Of course, this should be taken with a grain of salt, because even though they are LEGALLY hunted (I'm putting it in capital letters because there are always those who bring it up), for the moment the lodges don't seem to have the size or the right facilities to accommodate them, but despite everything, I remain rather optimistic about having them in the future.

Small update:

  • Three birds have been added, plus the cheetah, because even though the elephant is included, I don't think it's necessary. The same goes for the hippopotamus if it's too complex. Just a map with antelopes and a few remastered animals is enough for me.

If you know of any birds with impressive colors, exceptional size, or simply wow-worthy physiques that could be hunted there and you'd like to see them, please let us know.

Lesser kudu are also found in Tanzania and it'd be a good excuse to remaster the model. And speaking of remasters, the Cape buffalo needs one badly

What would also be cool is a redesign of the wildebeest and lions, and replacing the lesser kudu with the greater kudu.

Many animals, such as antelopes, particularly those belonging to the ten tinies, can be found. Larger animals like zebras can also be seen at higher altitudes (though not the very highest peaks, especially Kilimanjaro at 5842m; you might find something between 1800 and 3000m, especially in the forests). Above these altitudes, you'll find monkeys and birds. In the lower mountains, you might also find other wildlife. It's up to you to discover and explore the labyrinthine landscapes of Tanzania's mountains, grasslands, and forests.

Adult cheetahs measure 66 to 81 cm at the shoulder for females and 79 to 94 cm at the shoulder for males, and 1.10 to 1.30 m in length for females and 1.30 to 1.50 m for males, plus a tail of 65 to 85 cm. Adult animals weigh 21 to 42 kg for females and 36 to 72 kg for males, with an average of 48 kg for males and 38 kg for females. There are 5 subspecies, 3 of which are critically endangered. It is the fastest land animal in the world, capable of sprinting at 112 km/h over 300-400 meters, useful for hunting prey. The only drawback is that to achieve this speed, it has a very lean, slender, and therefore extremely fragile body. The cheetah in Tanzania and throughout the southern part of the continent is the Southern African cheetah, Acinonyx jubitus jubitus. In some countries (Tanzania in particular), there are quotas allowing the hunting of a certain number of cheetahs per year (around twenty per year). In East and Southern Africa, the cheetah primarily inhabits savannas such as the Kalahari and the Serengeti. In Central, North, and West Africa, it lives in mountain ranges and arid valleys; in the harsh climate of the Sahara, it prefers high mountains, which receive more rainfall than the surrounding desert. The vegetation and water resources of these mountains allow the antelopes to survive. In Iran, it is found in the hilly terrain of the deserts, up to 2,000 to 3,000 meters in altitude, where annual rainfall is generally less than 100 mm; the main vegetation in these areas consists of sparse shrubs, less than one meter high. The cheetah frequents a variety of ecosystems and seems less selective about its habitat than other felines; it favors areas where prey is abundant, visibility is good, and the risk of encountering large predators is minimal. It is rarely found in tropical forests. Its presence has been reported up to 4,000 m altitude. It prefers an open space with some cover, such as scattered bushes.

#

Cheetahs are primarily active during the day, while their competitors, such as spotted hyenas and lions, are mostly active at night.
