Military Surplus rifles wouldn’t be bad, but nothing Automatic. Semi-Auto is the furthest I’m willing to go, and even then I’m kinda iffy on it when it comes to milsurp weapons.

Something like an SKS would be good for a Semi-Auto weapon as they are widely used in the US as a Sporting Rifle.

Something like a Swiss K31 would make for a unique bolt-action seeing as it’s actually a straight pull rifle and not a true bolt action.

Restricting your choices to only those used by the US military is not a good idea imo. If you want to suggest Military Surplus weapons, broaden your horizons. Many weapons like the Lee Enfield and Mosin-Nagant are readily available but were not used by the US military.
