I believe the Savage Model 99 would be an excellent addition to TheHunter: Call of the Wild. It would be an additional lever action rifle, one of the less represented styles in the game, but not a “western” gate-loaded action either.

The Savage 99 was produced in a large variety of cartridges in its 98 year production run. Some of those cartridges are listed below, and cartridges not already in the game will have suggested class coverage.

.308 Winchester
.243 Winchester
.30-30 Winchester
.22-250 Remington
.300 Savage (3/4-7/8)
.250-3000 Savage (2/3-6/7)
.303 Savage (2-6)
7mm-08 Remington (3/4-7/8)
.284 Winchester (4-8)
.358 Winchester (5-8)

That tiger was taken with a Savage 99 chambered in .22 Hi Power. I will not be suggesting a .22 caliber be used on class 9s just because one guy did it 100 years ago

Savage 99s were mostly made with basic leaf rear sights, but various models were also made with higher end, tang mounted peep sights for more precise aiming for longer range shooting. Could be operated similarly to the Gandhare rifle sights.

I love these sights. This gun is so unique and weird, I'd love to have it honestly. I remember reading, a long time ago about someone taking a polar bear with a .250-3000 or something odd like that, but the .348 would be a great bear round

I think my preference would be to either get a .250-3000 so we could get a quarter bore in the game or the .358 like you said for a dedicated medium-large game gun.

Solid point, idk which one I want more. A nice 2-6 or a decent 5-8 lever gun

It’s not the most widely known, but it’s a classic nonetheless. Lots of history, used worldwide. Unique calibers for variety, or reused calibers for simplicity.

If I remember correctly, the Finnwolf is more of a Winchester 88 copy. They’ve got a rotating bolt where the Savage 99 uses tilting bolt.

Anything class 3-6/7 would be great, I remember recommending this rifle in 250/3000 years ago. .300 savage would be nice as well but it would probably be made 4-8

There’s definitely no logical reason for .300 Savage to be anything but .308 tuned down a few percent or performance.
