Basically it was a totally arcade mechanic, you teleported to a tent, you killed everything that was on the other side of the lake, you walked to collect them and when you got there on the other side of the lake more animals magically appeared...
Many abused it during grinding.
Now we just have to put the tents back to 150 or 200 like we did in the past and walk to the lake, it's not very complicated.
#How do we all feel about the fast travel animal render change?

Loving it. I come out of my tent and there are little bunnies running about and deer darting off. Very immersive and totally Disney. I don't grind and don't care if grinders abuse it. It's their game.
What cons do you see?
Isn't it that you can tp to a tent, walk outside and shoot six deer 30 feet away now?
Yes but you still have to be stealthy. Teleport crouching or crawling.
The fact that you can't tp to a tent at all irl and getting to a tent should scare anything within 100m away? Like, I dunno about you, but even the most skilled hunter isn't going to rush to camp and still find any animals nearby. I equate fast travel to that--running as fast as possible to the location, but the game skips the running part and just puts me there.
I haven't moved any tents next to lakes because I'd rather spread my access. From a casual player who does a lot of roaming this is really great.
I personally don't mind it, but I find it ridiculously unrealistic and very OP, as many people have said. So if it were tweaked I'd be happy too.
No, I don't see it like that all but it's an interesting perspective. Also, I am not concerned about the grinding and lakes because I find that a really boring way to play. I hunt very slowly so this will have little on my kill ratio but it does mean tents are not vanishing animals and I can just get on with the hunt over a larger area now.
I do find it strange that someone can be pro grinding and then anti towards this tent update when grinding itself is mechanical manipulation. Like I said, I don't grind but it's an odd thing to me.
Personally I'm pro grinding. But I'm also pro wander, pro stalking/tracking, pro calling in. I just love this game. But I don't see a need to make grinding easier when other forms of hunting in this game are pretty hard. And this change really, really makes grinding a lot easier.
I use grinding to do lions on Vurhonga, and have used grinding for red deer on TA. But it gets boring. I usually change it up by switching to bows when hunting lions because the required proximity means they're going to kill you if you botch the shot.
But just grinding constantly... that gets really boring, but I feel like the grinders get more in this game than other forms of play do. (More from devs, I mean.)
anxiously awaits Talus' comment
As someone who likes to use every weapon type, this change is a breath of fresh air because we can now grind using almost anything instead of just rifles that zero to 300m and without spending so much time running.
Its one of the best things that happened to this game to incentivize even a little the use of other weapons.
However, this change feels ridiculous, it can turn into the opening of a Pandora's Box and make a big chunk of players play this way, and we know how sensitive the grinding have turned people, complaining at the slight challenge that reduces efficiency like hunting in a forest or at night, and those complains can influence EW's decisions about future content
Ah sorry, I was afk xd and left without ending the message

I must have subconsciously figured that this was such a monumental change that it needed simultaneous divergent discussions on it.
just wanted to add additional insight
This is fact. Like black bears moving to morning. Although, irl, black bears aren't very nocturnal and prefer to drink early morning/late evening...
It would be nice if we had animals that behaved depending if its day or night. Would love to see owls, even as not huntable animals.
Please no. I understand it could be cool but it would lead to them being put on other maps and things like upland birds would be impossible to spot with all these non-huntable animals flying around. It’s already bad enough hunting pheasants on hirsch..
good point
I play on ps5 and I'm not sure if others have experienced it as well but i have had no change. I tested it and animals still do not render when I travel to a tent too close. I have just left all my tents where they were.
It's not just a tent thing, it's a render/spawn thing in general. There are several outposts in the game, a couple in Sunderpatan, that have zones right outside and now when I fast travel to those, if an animal is in that zone, there's a 50/50 chance of it fleeing or freezing. I had a zone of Water Buffalo on Sundarpatan that froze in place 40 yards from an outpost I fast traveled to.
