Hey there,
in my opinion we lack some animals, I do feel like we could make a great use of small rivers by adding beavers! The addition of beavers could add new side missions that would happen from time to time ex: "Take apart the dam built by a beaver" and etc. The beavers could also be a great addition to hunting!

Thank you once again for your feedback and for being a part of our community.
Love this idea
I appreciate you!
The moment they add beavers, I'm putting down tents all over their rest zones, let's see how they like it!
The missions for Beaver could be fun if done right.
Hell yeah!
I'm all for it
It could be a good side mission that would happen from time to time which would give you a general idea of the beaver cave/hideout, might even see one whilst taking apart the dam!
New side mission "Pesky Beavers" .... Beavers have built a damn at x location flooding the area. Take this dynamite and destroy the damn then kill 3 beavers from the local area to prevent them from rebuilding the damn ...
The various ponds on SRP are essentially what beavers in Colorado can do, so they would not be out of place there.
I like it, although I do think dynamite is a bit extreme unless of course the dam is huge
Yes! The beavers have a lot of potential in many reserves, strange how they weren't added yet
extreme perhaps but very dramatic ... I have known those who use explosives to destroy beaver damns. And what can be more dramatic or more fun than watching the beaver abode blow sky high .... https://fb.watch/pTyirNznNA/
Yup, we need our revenge.
Imagine a map like NEM or MA where you get a random message that generates a mission about a beaver damn that is causing problems and needs to be broken up.... maybe causing all the drink zones downstream from the damn to be deactivated until the damn is destroyed ... This would be an amazing dynamic change that would be very immersive .... 🦫
Thing is, any beaver mission like that would probably also include setting traps. It would probably be a limited trapping mission, not anything that could be used beyond that mission, but I'd love to see some snares and 330 Conibears. But yes, make beavers class 2 and add them to the game.
I want beavers.
I’m just imagining how big the tail would be on a Great One beaver.. 🦫
i would love to see a bear lmao
I believe that twice my blinds were knocked down because of these beavers, but I never had the chance to see them (of course, there are no beavers in COTW).
Giant Beaver for the Great One Beaver
It's time to add Beavers we have been asking for years. They deserve to die
Holy moly! That “beaver” looks like it has a class 5 shoulder blade!
They should add nutrias too.

Add tannerite so I can blow them sky high
Don't just add beavers but make it fun and different ....
Have the beavers build dams on the streams around the map ... NEM would be a great map for this ..... Beaver back fill Please !!!
Would like to see an actual beaver dam but it can be shown as a rest or feed zone on the water .... When a Dam is present all the drink zones for other animals down stream are grayed out and inactive until the zone is wiped ....
The hunter must kill all the beavers attached to the beavers (rest/feed zone ) ... This removes the dam and reactives the other drink zones ....
Of course beavers can re-spawn and move their dam to another location ....
....
I suppose the beaver dam (feed/rest) Zone could be built on small lakes or ponds .... Even lakes have small feeder streams not shown of the map that can dry up the lake .
When a dam is present all the drink zones for other animals on the lake are inactive until the beaver zone is wiped ....
Beaver warning noise is a tail slap on the water .... use the already existing water fleeing mechanic used by Gators to allow the beavers to escape .....
.....
Back filling beavers on NEM and MA would once again make those maps attractive hunting maps again for many palyers
Beavers are a blight on a proper hunting society .... They need to be exterminated like the vermin they are ..... They mock us with their very existence .....
HAHA ... puny hunters .... can not even get to 100 votes against BEAVERS!! .... I will feast on more of your trees and stands ..... You cannot defeat the Mighty BEAVERS!! .... 94

I want beavers in Parque Fernando because in the Patagonian region they are considered an invasive species that affects the ecosystem. There are areas in Parque Fernando that resemble those photos; it would be an excellent idea to add beavers there. I’m surprised they haven’t been included yet. Credit: Wikipedia

kinda funny how beavers are invasive in the the native range of the nutria while nutria are invasive to some native ranges of the beaver 😂 like they would have changed homes
In Europe, we have two species of beaver: a European one and an invasive one, the American beaver. The same applies to the American and European mink in Europe.
Distribution of the American beaver (Castor canadensis) in green in its native habitat and light green in its non-native habitat, and the European beaver (C. fiber) in red.
Yes, the coypu is an invasive species in many countries. It’s curious that the Spanish word “nutria” refers to “otter,” while in English it refers to “coypu.” I never use “nutria,” only “coypu” or “otter” to avoid the confusion caused by the misassigned name.

They won't do this because they don't want too many animals in one DLC, they want u to have to pay to get a slightly different experience.
Stop complaining. It's already obvious you're just broke

Revontouli Coast. Yukon Valley and Layton Lakes could also support beavers
^
True, but that would mean both North American Beavers (Castor canadensis) and Eurasian Beavers (Castor fiber). I am all for that!
We could also get Giant Beavers (Castoroides ohoioensis) as a GO. (For the record: I am not remotely serious about that!)
Haven’t seen this post in a long time..
I brought it up again bc its related to my reserve post
While there are several reserves that would make a great fit for beavers I would like to see them used on some select reserves like MA or NEM ....
This would give players incentives to hunt on those reserves that are normally overlooked... It would also help EW to incentivize the purchase of those reserves as well ...
Example , If you want to hunt beavers then you need to purchase these specific reserves .....
I think they can do something similar with Badgers and some other much requested species ....
Adding a smaller population of beavers to Layton or Badgers to Hirsch would also prevent these special species from being gated content .... But if you want to hunt a reserve with a larger population then you need to buy DLC .... 03/24/2025 .... 274

beavers threatened the guards not to hand them over or they would gnaw their tents
This is an amazing idea, and really agree with the addition of beavers. What maps would they be on if they were to be added?
Beavers are a scourge on most any landscape ... but I would suggest MA or NEM .... Those maps don't get much play time and adding beavers would make them desirable again for those who want to torment the beavers .....
..... A small population could be added to Layton or Hirsch so they are not gated animals
I like it, but I think Layton is the most requested map to have beavers? Revontuli could also possibly get beavers. NEM is such a good map and really needs beavers to help spice it up.
Parque Fernando is where they must be there. A new mission of eradication .
I'm attempting to get Frontier Park considered to add beavers to the game as a new species. Theres several reserves that would benefit having them added.
Parque, Layton, and NEM preferably
For the historic fur trading in Wyoming
As well as for historic ecology reasons as well.
Mississippi as well would be great with the water ways.
The nearby state of Oregon known as Beaver State
I did alot of digging for my reserve ( https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1342242999526232196 ) & beavers played a major role in Wyomings waterways. After the elk populations were at dangerous levels many habitats were destroyed & contaminated. Once wolves were introduced elk populations were greatly reduced and allowed several species populations to recoup & further returning the ecologies recovery. Beavers were the ones that brought back the waterways restoring aquatic life habitats for fish, otters, etc.

I hate that he made that story so legitimately interesting. I've hunted and trapped beavers for years and never cared for them much but I got very interested because of how he presented it
In Askiy Ridge, there seem to be a lot of beavers in one place. But in real life, beaver families are usually small. In Europe, the average group has about 3.8 beavers (1 minimum and 7 maximum)
Apparently the .8 comes from the one that hasn’t developed a potbelly yet..
In Askiy Ridge, there are many beavers in a only spot. It has to be reduced to 4 the max (1-4).
"American beavers are highly sociable animals. They make up colonies - family groups of about 8 individuals in each one – and live within a hierarchy. "
Source: https://animalia.bio/american-beaver
Beyond that, 1-4 only in a game would be boring. Shoot 2 and you're done until they respawn. I don't think anyone would enjoy that much.
I spotted beavers for the first time; there were 10 of them. At Askiy Ridge, during the snow season, the adult reproductive pair is usually outside while their juvenile offspring stay inside for protection. Young beavers have a high mortality rate during this period, so you don’t often see many beavers out on the snowy ground.
And that would be exceptionally boring in a game. "Hey guys! You've been asking for beavers for years, so we added them to our new map. But they're hibernating. And when they are not, there will only be 1-2 visible. Have fun!"
It also tends to snow quite early in the autumn up in the Alberta Rockies and the Boreal Forest
Which is stated in the mission narrative, by the way. The snow has come early and this is the first snow fall.
In my opinion, it is too easy and boring for me to hunt many beavers in the only spot. It is not realistic behavior. In real life, it is not easy to spot a beaver because they are cautious and are elusive.
Have to agree with Cutterito here they also don't go out to gather together as much usually but are a little bit more spread rather then a tight pack.
