Let’s do it!
and 6 more upvotes til 1900!
5 now
lets get ittt
Omg I want these guys on a map
This with a 25-06 👌
I'll be totally honest, a pretty. 25-06 would be cool but I'd be more inclined to use the new .30-30 on them lol
If we get impala on a bushveld map the .30-30 is gonna one of my go-to's
100yrd or less shots on a class 4 with the .30-30 would be down right therapeutic
I can guarantee I could hunt any animal in the world with 3 calibers.
A Henry Frontier .22 LR
A Marlin 336 .30-30
And a .375 H&H. Or a Marlin 1895 .45-70
I wouldn't even hesitate
Now, I'd consider this .25-06 pretty seriously
Browning B-78
why no Africa map yet 😢
3 to go until 1900
two more
One more!
Watch as it’s going to be a couple of weeks before we get a like😂
Hopefully not lol
Hopefully, but I’ve seen it happen before
Uh oh..
Yeah….I totally jinx it, didn’t I?
Maybe…. 😢
Oh no, I DID JINX IT!!!😭
One more…
One..
😭
What have I done!
Unjinxed
WE DID IT!!
100 more likes until two thousand, very exciting
Yea!
I just had to take a screenshot okay-
100 to go to the big milestone
Yep let’s do it
Got to the top
99 to go!
Day 518 of waiting for Africa 2.0
So close…and yet so far😭
What happens at 2K?
We formally signed a petition for EW to finally make Africa 2.0
@mighty rampart
you owe us. You have to buy 2000 pizza boxes
Plot twist, #2001 has to pay the tip. 😆
You guys should also put together a plan for a map, species, etc.
I'd definitely add both rhinos but have them fairly rare to the point they're a treat and a few extra plains game species.
Would love to see the tiny ten come to the game but unfortunately that would require either back fills or new Africa maps other than Zimbabwe. Maybe we could see the tiny 6 instead sense 6 out of the ten live in Zimbabwe.
The entire field virtually to himself…but decides to drop kick a random biker
It’s a power move
😭
I remember this
It was a big thing for a couple month in SA
Day 519 of waiting for Africa 2.0
73
its crazy that this post has like nearly 1000 upvotes more then the second most upvoted
I'm just wondering how large you guys would like to map to be, I mean the largest maps like sundar and revontuli are 10km by 10km and considering the amount species that we would like to see on Africa 2.0 I think the map should atleast be 20 km by 20 km.
It's also just important to see what EW's limitations are either by game engine, code, or accommodation for older gen consoles
I’m not surprised, a lot of people want good African maps
Especially since Vurhonga fell short for many
just my opinion, i would rather like to see canadian artic or so over africa, i am not really into africa
Vurhonga has 10 species; 3 are backfills, one of which is a duck that shouldnt even be there and the other two are lion and gemsbok with the lions having one of the worst models in the game while the base 7 are all dated as hell with jackasl having the worst animal model in the game imo and lesser kudu being there when they shouldnt cause again its too far southwest of their IRL range
Vurhonga is weird like that
Is literally just a amalgamation of Southern and Eastern African bits and bobs. Overall it's like a American map based in Mississippi but with PNW vegitation, moose, Rocky Mountain Elk, black bear and no whitetail deer. So a really mix and mash
Real, I personally think Vurhonga needs to have a rework to not only the animals but the whole map. Its like I want to really enjoy it but the map is really dated.
This should have atleast 10k since theres 120k people in the server 😭
Yeah, it’s weird
I think the vast majority of people just use the discord for the game news.
Nearly 2000 upvotes…
And maybe 30 active people in the feedback section
We also have nearly double the comments of the next largest map
I'd rework Vurhonga as a Kalahari map
If I made a post like that, would y'all upvote it?
I have been considering a Vurhonga Remake for a while myself, mainly with the idea that it would be focused on Plains Game (Lion and Buffalo would remain, but they wouldn't be the main focus, Africa 2.0 would hopefully feature all 7 members of the Dangerous 7)
But I would upvote a Kalahari-based Vurhonga Remake
That was the idea; emphasis on Plains Game
I'd add leopard and then I'd have buffalo be quite rare as their distribution is tied to water
I made a thread about this a lit while ago. #1341378773563740261
In the thread I specifically left out physical map changes because I reckon they're 'too much' of a change but I have everything regarding animals including their sounds, behavior, models and distribution.
I reckon EW will never actually change Vurhonga though because it's not going to help them make any new income because people already have the map. I reckon EW will probably just make a new Africa map at some stage hopefully, and for that map they'll rework existing species and maaaaaaybe depending on location of Africa 2.0, they might backfill/alter the species roster of vurhonga while they're at it
One question, if you could change the map physically would you and what would you change?
For emphasis on plains game I’d go eastern cape, it’s damn near the capital of plains game hunting!
Well assuming it's supposed to modeled off of South Africa or Botswana, it's kinda a tough one because the geography of the landscape is just off in the sense that it's too hilly and there's a random mountain in the west, so it's have to be much flatter with occasional koppjie (basically a big hill), Alternatively if it's models after a place like the Waterberg region in SA having more small scale mountains and a larger defined mountain range would be good. In terms of flora, unless the map is imitating the Free State province of South Africa, there is way too little Vegitation, specifically bushes and small trees. Botswana is basically entirely bushveld in the south east and Kalahari and unless Vurhonga is based on the Free state province of South Africa (which would make the map make even less sense in it's current form) it should definitely have more bushveld.
So the long and the short is, if I could totally change the map physically, I'd make it much flatter with occasional large hills and or a mountain range something like the Waterberg mountain range and I'd add alot more vegetation to the map that mimics bushveld
This is what I wanted from Vurhonga not some fantasy land
Ja honestly vurhonga is difficult to describe without mentioning that it feels like the devs really did not do any actually research for the map
Hopeful for Africa 2.0 though
To be fair it was made in a time when the game was young and the dev team probably didn’t care as much as they do now
True, I think that's definitely the case
Their more recent works have really been quite outstanding, say for ballistics, that's still stuck in 2017
Yea
Hopefully one day they all sit down and talk about what maps need to be reworked not in just the animal aspect but the physical aspect
https://youtu.be/5UKCTiAItmg?si=s1arrLWhyFm0sCA6
fair to say the dude got a fright
Fair
Day 520 of waiting for Africa 2.0
- 1million 😭💔
I’m making this a thing now btw
If I can’t do it, someone else take my place
I like this except it would be poaching and I do not like the idea of poaching.
every animal on this list can be legally hunted in several countries
Elaborate
It’s not really poaching, it’s legal to hunt these animals like @dire prism said. But I do understand where you’re coming from, I hate poaching very much.
I’m saying (personal opinion other may not agree) I don’t think it would be right to hunt and kill elephants and giraffes since they are both IUCN.
Understandable, but some populations are still stable I’m quite sure. Elephants in some African countries have populations blooming to where the point is hunters have been ordered to cull them to restore balance.
Also, African Elephants have a population of 415,000 thousand.
european bison, bengtal tiger, and snow leopard are all IUCN animals too
technically every species on earth is, since they all have ratings based on population size and stability
I understand this 👍
But everything on the species list is hunted in real life, it's even encouraged to hunt them (by governments)
Moose are on the IUCN, does that mean they shouldn’t be in the game?
I know what you mean
In terms of Elephant, they are technically IUCN but in Southern Africa there's actually an overpopulation to the extent that culling operations are being considered. South Africa offers about 150 tags for elephant to be hunted in South Africa every year (for reference only 10 leopard tags are made available) so although they have ICUN status, it's mostly because of smaller population in countries like Angola that used to have alot more elephant, but there's even debate now around how reliable are the old numbers for how many there were.
In terms of Giraffe, you can literally buy them in South Africa for about $ 1,400 per adult bull, so if they are endangered they're probably not that endangered.
If I recall correctly the only subspecies of Giraffe that are hunted are Angolan Giraffes and South African Giraffes, which makes sense considering how giraffes are only really hunted in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe (too my knowledge)
I'm not really as familiar with the hunting scene outside of Zim, Namib and South Africa but I know in Tanzania and Kenya for example there are some really strict rules on hunting so I think giraffe are completely off the menu in East Africa as are elephant, Rhino and the sort
It’s not poaching
Source me anti-poaching ranger
As the king himself, interferes - David Attenborough voice
I understand the mindset that you have, but do realise that every species needs to be hunted in order to conduct effective game management. The hunting of elephants giraffe etc on the African Continent keeps the game farms funded and provides therefore economic incentives to keep the animals, breed them etc. At the end of the day all hunting is either ok or we should ban it, you cannot be making exceptions with any of these mentioned animals.
Without hunting in Africa most of this stuff would have gone already
On that note there is a huge overpopulation of elephants in South Africa, Botswana etc
Finally Giraffe are not endangered, it is not poaching as you claim, poaching is the illegal hunting of wildlife
If you got to Kruger park today you will see more elephants than impala.
I can promise you that
Kenya outlawed big game hunting in the 70s and I recall a Kenyan ambassador to Namibia getting fired over him hunting in Namibia
But Tanzania allows Elephant hunting (Kenya complained about it as elephants frequently cross the border between the two countries)
Day 521 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Great One Elephant variants based off of Palaeoloxodon would be cool to see. Palaeoloxodon is the closest extinct relative of African Elephants after all. Other GO variants based off of Mammoths and even the massive "Mammut" borsoni could be cool to see too
I also made this if you’re interested
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1278571704838520904
…I heard G1 elephant and I got excited
could even go crazy with it and base variants off of stuff like Stegotetrabelodon with their quadruple tusks or Deinotherium with their downward-facing bottom jaw tusks
i'll definitely check it out 👍 🐘
If I had to pick GO elephant models I'd want them to be directly models after the Magnificent 7
There all so beautiful 🤩
And what's nice is they all already have names so under fur type it could just say their name, like "João" or "Mafunyane"
frrr
Can we keep lions
Day 522…of waiting for Africa 2.0
Went on a rant, I apologize but I'd appreciate the support
So guys, lets talk sound/audio
What do you guys think about lion, Hyena and Jackal receiving a similar mechanic to grey wolf's howls where they make an audible noise that leads to them but isn't an 'investigateable' audio ?
I would like the idea, just a suggestion, but certain sounds becoming investigative once within a certain proximity perhaps. 🤔
Yes definitely within a certain range or certain calls would be investigatable
My main hope is to create a more immersive atmosphere especially between dusk and dawn that better resembles the African wilderness than whatever vurhonga is
I’ve always wondered how they’d tackle a dense jungle map with so many possible audio cues firing off as well..
Ladies and Gentlemen
All I'm going to say is that either EW knows that they made a mistake saying Vurhonga is in South Africa so they moved it away on the new world map in game to make space for a real South/Southern African map or two, or, they don't even know what they don't know. Lets hope its the former
P.s I will NEVER say that vurhonga is actually in Southern Africa
I think I learn something new about exotic animal hunting in the east cape everyday
Appreantly along side hog deer, red deer, fallow deer, axis deer, rusa deer and Arabian oryx side by side safaris have Indian blackbuck as well
I’m surprised
I knew parts of South Africa had fallow deer, Himalayan tahr and aoudad, and I have seen images of Scimitar-horned Oryx and Arabian Oryx and Feral Pigs hunted over there
But the other deer you listed and the blackbuck are surprising
Yeah my PH mentioned that he had a client who wanted to hunt a bunch of those species
He thought it was weird because why would someone travel to South Africa to hunt a bunch of non African animals
I mean if its your first time coming here and you wanna shoot non-native species, its a bit weird. Then again they're usually in well established places with good quality hunting and accommodation so maybe on a second hunt
I can a second or third hunt
bit late but Yes! imagine for lion their territorial roars and hyena's their 'laughs'! i think both of those match up pretty well to wolf howls / how itd make sense for them to function similarly!
I've never seen one of these Reedbuck in the place I go walk
Pretty cool
That’s sick
It was so wier because he just stood absolutely frozen for like 15 seconds after we noticed him and were like 10m away
G1 elephant - imagine how cool that would be
Randomly got to the top
this is a bad idea as people may play the game and get inspired to paoch endangered animals in real life such as how shooting games like fortnite can cause violent tendencies in children
It's a troll, just block it and move on
I figured
Oh btw, can you check out #1384918930799460515 and add anything you can think of? I listed a few but not sure if I covered the bigger ones
We don’t have a limit in game doesn’t mean I’m tempted or going to go shoot more than my limit in real life, it’s a video game, it’s supposed to not be realistic
None of this “inspires poaching”
Politely I don’t think you understand what poaching is.
All the species on this list can be legally hunted
I for one, don’t feel INSPIRED to travel to Nepal and hunt tigers/snow leopards
Likewise, and I’ve defiantly not blown up any tigers with an rpg
Wait, you changed the name?
It’s only on here I’m usually Wellington😅
I was so confused for a second there
Ignore the pfp, it’s a long story I’m not getting into
i didnt know
No worries Rufus
Day 523 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I know it's a coincidence but dude I'm on pain meds again and I had to check this post 4 times before I figured it out
Legitimate question
If EW announced they were doing an African map with a heavy emphasis on antelope and testing leopard mechanics, but they fully intend to do another Africa map with the big five on it
How would you take it?
I'd be happy with that honestly.
They should have done that years ago
Idk if they could have done leopards justice years ago, but snow leopards make me think they absolutely can. Maybe do 15 to 20 on the map and make it a difficult hunt but I'd be more than happy to have that as an option mix a open forest type of biome with a river delta and some hills and have 3 to 4 species in each zone and I'd be ecstatic
I’d be more than happy, even if we didn’t get elephants and just had a really good Africa map with GKudu leopards Zebra etc etc etc I’d be happy
Yes!
Tanzania, I'm thinking. Selous game reserve kind of copy with as many antelope types as possible I'd be happy for it
I made this little map concept at the very end of last year, round Christmas time. I don't think I've posted it on the discord before, but I did submit it as a ticket. If I have posted it here before, sorry for the duplicate.
Anyway I've got some time now so I'm thinking of doing a similar such concept but for the plains game heavy map
How did you make it?
Yeah, that defo took a few hours
I also made something like that, but for a LOT of countries. It has my own class rankings and stuff though. If you want, just tell me and I'll send it to you
Hol up, you didn't do page 32 😂
I did, but I deleted it just now before uploading it
I decided its not thaaaat important because its just photos of my dad and myself and then just me with stuff I hunted lol
How long did it take you to make this?
I can't really remember, I think it was a couple hours every day for like 3 days max
So it took a bit, but wasn't thaaat long
Absolutely fine with it
If EW cant do elephants and rhinos and stuff rn I always kinda figured a map with (reworked) lions and leopards would be a good start.
This map, with all the extra animals too, would be absolutely perfect
Ok, let me go on record saying this
This map idea, or any map that could come out of the Southern Zim/Musina area of South Africa would be perfect imo and my personal animal list based on that area and my experience of hunting that general area irl would be this
Class 1
Helmeted Guineafowl (N)-C
Crested Francolin (N)-C
Scrub Hare (CR)-C
Yellow Billed Duck (N)-UC
Eqyptian Goose (N)-R
Class 2
Common Duiker (N)-UC
Black Backed Jackal (N)-VC
Steenbok (N)-UC
Oribi (N)-UC
African Civet (N)-R
Serval (N)-VR
Caracal (N)-VR
Bat-eared Fox (N)-ER
Class 3
Bushbuck (N)-C
Honey Badger (N)-R
chacma Baboon (N)-C
Vaalribbok (N)-R
Class 4
Southern Impala (N)-VC
Warthog (CR)-C
Burchell's Zebra (N)-C
Reedbuck (N)-UC
Bushpig (N)-UC
Class 5
Nyala (N)-C
Tsessebe (N)-UC
Brown Hyena (N)-R
Red Hartebeest (N)-R
Class 6
Greater Kudu (N)-UC
Blue Wildebeest (R)-C
Sable (N)-UC
Waterbuck (N)-R
Gemsbok (CR)-VR
Roan (N)-VR
Spotted Hyena (N)-R
Class 7
Class 8
African Leopard (N)-ER
Livingstons Eland (N)-UC
Nile Crocodile (N)-VR
Class 9
Cape Buffalo (CR)-UC
Giraffe (N)-R
Lion (CR)-VR
Class 10
Bush Elephant (N)-UC
White Rhino (N)-VR
Black Rhino (N)-ER
Hippo (N)-UC
I put the most important animal of each class first and the least, last. As for the lines through some of the animals, they indicate my choices for which ones I'd be willing to "give up" to meet the maximum species requirement like it is in game currently, and to fit nicely with the idea of a plains game oriented map.
N = New
R = Rework
CR = Complete Rework (so sound, behavior etc.)
VR = Very Common
C = Common
UC = Uncommon
R = Rare
VR = Very Rare
ER = Extremely Rare
Day 524 of waiting for Africa 2.0
In Vurhonga Savannah there is a model of a dead rhino.
Where did you make it on?
Perfect.
Only thing I'd add is vervet monkeys
Almost 2k likes..
Do you think they even care?
So, due to my back injury. I'm never going to be able to hunt impala with a longbow now. I contacted the guide I had set up my hunt with and found out I couldn't change my hunt. I had to cancel the entire Safari over this.
It'll be like a week before I get my deposit back and I still don't know if I'll ever get to actually go hunt in Africa
Stop braking your body, it’s not good for you
In all seriousness, I hope you have a speedy recovery. That sounds painful
Probably not, it definitely feels that way
It’s like they refuse to touch anything African related with a ten foot pole currently
damn man sorry to hear that
get well soon
Thanks but it's not a thing I can recover from. The muscle is damaged too deep for surgery and shooting a bow is apparently the worst possible thing I can do with it.
I was told "I can't stress this enough, if you damage this muscle anymore you won't be able to pick up a drink so stop being a stubborn dumb*ss"
oh damn, thats a serious injury
can you use a shoulderfired long gun on that shoulder anymore or is that off the table too?
He said rifles should be fine as long as the recoil isn't too excessive, "no elephant guns, but you should be okay with with most things"
If I don't stress my back much it'll get stronger too, apparently
I'll have to sell the dentist lol
yeah, makes sense; sorry that happened tho man that absolutely sucks
Wonder if I can set up a lever action only Safari?
anything's possible; at a gun show last year I saw a .45-70 Marlin taken on Safari in Botswana in 1992
guy took 2 Impala, a cape buffalo, an eland, and a greater kudu
then when he got home he had the stats engraved on the receiver for the memory lol
swear I saw an article at one point where a guy went for small/medium plains game with a .30-30
I was gonna take my .30-30 for impala and bushbuck anyway tbh. I could just use it for more of the list though
Could you eventually use an elephant gun in the future?
given the severity of his back injury idk if hell be able to do hot .45-70 loads soon even
Possibly? The doctor said if I gave it a year or two there's a good chance the muscle could knit back together but it wouldnt be as strong as it used to be
yeah, the scar seam makes it physically more prone to injury because it provides a rupture point, and another angle iron incident could shear the whole thing in half
I think I have to give up my .416 but I could maybe do a .375? Possibly at least. Maybe a 9.3x62mm would be better
damn not the Rigby 😭
I did want an excuse to get a 9.3 like this lol
aight thats valid
This is a 8x57 but it's still nice
(Tape on a wood stock triggers the h*ll outta me though)
Microsoft Word on my work laptop
Damn that's so crap man
You should definitely see in future if you can go on a safari with your .30-30 and if you have/get a 9.3x62 that's be pretty much perfect for literally any animal your hunting. But damn man that's so crap, I hope you can work something out
It's okay, I can still hunt but yeah. And if I sell my .416 I'll have the cash to get a different rifle. I'm definitely interested in a 9.3
But you know, maybe you should just give Riebelton Safaris a little peak. I doubt the PH would have any issue with you using a .30-30 or a .45-70 and he regularly has European/American clients. And if you bring a 9.3x62 he'll be very happy because that's his beloved caliber
I'll look into them as soon as I have the money back. I can't be as active as I'd like but I still want to try for some plains game at least
15x15 would be very big already and would be more then 3 times as large as a usual Cotw map, I think 12x12, dubble the normal size is more realistic
Nothing stops a Leopard from getting to where it's going and they are eeeeeverywhere
Wait you just casually wrote a whole thesis about potential map ? Thats awesome !
Thanks man
Ja I first considered doing it in 2020 lol
I kept putting it off tho and last year I had time so I though I'd make a semi in-depth map description, and I say semi because there's so much more I could write to try portrait the experience
I am stealing this way of explaining concepts and how a map could he made
What did you use to make it?
Please be my guest lol
The more high-quality stuff the better
I basically just used Microsoft Word to make it, got most of the photos from Google and used a website (of which the name I can't remember right now) to easily do the bibliography
Being somewhat of an Impala fanatic, I made a similar document and posted it to the #1325971453023354881 suggestion
Day 525 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Somewhat???
SOMEWHAT???
I think Cheetah could work for between Classes 4-6
just a little bit 🤣 😭
You have no room to speak treeboy, I remember what you posted when I suggested a No.1 .45-70
I'd accept class 3, it's the frailest cat species I can think of
….well….you see….uuuuuuuuuhhhh
#.45-70Supremacy
458 SUPREMACY
That's not a .458. . .
There are a lot of photos in my phone right now, it takes a while to scroll through all the Teddy Roosevelt, African animals, artwork, and guns to find one specific photo I could find without scrolling for 5 minutes. Give me some slack alright 🤣
I deleted 200 last night and I don't even take pics, I just look them up for this server lmao
Also, this IS a .458. Nice
Knee deep in the flooded reeds you tread water, every sounds around you seems to come from everywhere and nowhere all at once.
You can't see more that a few yards ahead of you but amidst the reeds that tower over your head you can hear grunts and calls of animals five times your size.
Your hands, sweat soaked and white knuckles, are gripping your rifle so hard blood is seeping from under your finger nails.
Your senses are strained for any hint of the creatures that surround you. Your body tense as a compressed spring, begging you to run and escape.
One loud grunt echoes and suddenly the bird song ends. Replaced with an eerie silence. The only sound is the gentle lapping of the water and the swaying reeds.
It's close, you know this. Your instincts a screaming that there's danger all around, every fiber of your body is demanding, begging with you to run.
The reeds part. The water churns and stirs up mud and the stench of decayed plants. The sound of a freight train crashing through it all, heading directly for you.
You have one chance.
Raise the rifle.
Aim for the small space between those beady eyes.
Ignore the foot long tusks protruding from a cavernous maw.
how does your story end?
And that’s how they should advertise Africa 2.0
And then at the end you hear an elephant trumpet…perfection right there
Ha, yeah. That'd make for one heck of a trailer huh?
It would be the best!
They keep going with this calm look at how pretty this map is vibe for the last couple of releases. We need something more action packed, like stalking a hippo in the reads or a leopard pouncing from a tree
I could attempt a leopard themed one . . .
I do like the peaceful trailers but I also want to see predators getting showcased, storms, snapping bridges, something to make it unique
I like them too, but they keep making calm trailers with some kind of flute playing in the background
I might have to do the same for my Arctic Reserve after reading through that entire PDF
I want onenwhere someone is legitimately hunting. Show a weapon, show an animal, shot terrain as you stalk and take the shot
They should’ve been more specific saying southern Africa because it’s a big mistake for not just putting it on the right place on the map
Yeah when i saw that i always thought we would get to hunt rhinos in the future, it could mean another asian map but less likely than new african map
We just got a new map, have patience til the next map, they want the map to be good for us and do Africa justice
SOMEWHAT??? (had to continue the chain)
Good effort
Your only 8 hours late
You never answered my question
There are several questions from you, which one?
We got the G1 that the community wanted now give us the map the whole community wants
to be fair, that could be africa, amazon, or central asia just africa has the lead
How are you reacting to that charge?
Probably end up with two foot long ivory tusks in my chest…or a dead hippo at my feet
Yup.
I might die but I'm gonna stand my ground
To be fair they can't pin point thr map anywhere because anywhere they pin point it, it would be wrong
Day 526 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Yeah hippos would be sick to hunt 🔥
Oh no…THEY CAN SHOOT BACK NOW
It's a Giff, from DnD.
Playable but they also work as an opponent
That's a pretty nice Nyala ram
That’s true
hippo = hug
I would not be opposed to that. In all honesty the big five aren't even my main africa want. I just want leopards, lion rework, hyenas, zebras, and more antelope and i'll be happy. Big 5 would just be a cool bonus on the side
Leopards and lion rework are a must have imo. Jackal rework ideally as well, side stripeds are so pretty irl
I would wish to have the African experience through hunting so mostly yk what they usually hunt over there (zebra, wildebeest, impala) then of course with some variety with nile crocs in the lakes and leopards in trees also some guinea fowl and small game, that would be a very good african map in my opinion, hopefully they can fit some of the iconic biomes in there too, and not just savanna and forests on the edges of the map like Vurhonga
So this is a ooold photo but this was exactly today 5 years ago that I managed to get this old boy
Nice bull
Day 527 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Hopefully Africa 2.0 for the winter
Day 528 of waiting for Africa 2.0
You prefer Lott or Winchester?
Gotta go with Lott
Then you can advocate for the WR .458 Falling Block and I'll advocate for the Ruger No.1 .270
Cool art
Day 529 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I do love showing the cool art I’ve found
And making EW feel bad about making us wait for Africa 2.0
After seeing that absolute artistry used to make Askiy Ridge Reserve, I really look forward to Africa 2.0
It’ll be a banger, and i have a feeling it’s the next one to come, other than beavers being a thing for years people wanted (probably why we got Alberta + remodels). It’s the only one making sense, it’s the most upvoted and requested map, the models in Africa are really outdated, we only have one map in Africa compared to other continents (except south America but that one is less likely) and since there something uniqe coming with every reserve and they have the resources for it i’m sure EW have the eyes to see that it will most likely be their most highest grossing dlc yet
Sorry for bad grammar but i hope it’s somewhat understandable
Day 530 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Day 531 of waiting for Africa 2.0
We NEED OUR 2 SPOTTED WILD CATS TO BE IN AFRICA 2.0! COUGH Cheetahs! COUGH Leopards COUGH
I want my Africa map now! 😤
amazing art
Day 532 of waiting for Africa 2.0
That the lesser kudu?
Yes
Looks awesome
Are there wild boar in Africa? I would love a remodel for the one in-game
I know something like China or India would most likely have boar and they’d be remodeled with that release but i think Africa should definetly be the next map so those will have to wait
There aren't wild boar as far as I know, if there are, they might have been in the very far north but I doubt it. We do have warthog, bushpig and giant forest pig though, the latter being very boar like
.45-70 makes a good measuring tool
The only true Wild Boar are in the Atlas Mountains and they used to live along the Nile valley up to Khartoum (before going extinct in that area), apparently some European Boar/Feral Pigs exist on some properties in South Africa but I can't remember where I read about it
Ok well i hope the release of a new hog species will come with a remodel of the wild boar, it doesn’t have to include it
Ja that's what I though, the Atlas mountains has a numbed of animals associated with Europe like Barbarry Red Deer so I wouldn't be surprised if they were atleast once in that range as well. I also wouldn't be too surprised if there were some wild boar on Eastern Cape game farms but I reckon they don't quite outcompete Warthog and Bushpig seeming that they really aren't too common here if they are here
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if bushpigs are the reason wild boar never really got that well established
Day 533 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Let’s hope!
Day 534 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I love this. Hunting an aggressive hippo or rihno or elephant or leopard would be awesome!
Day 535 of waiting for Africa 2.0
incase you’re losing motivation, i believe in you
The most difficult part is scrolling through all the photos I have saved on my phone…lots of Roosevelt collection, interesting (Continent) finds, and ornate weapons photos saved on my phone
Why don’t you just copy stuff off of google and paste it in here instead of saving up a bunch? I don’t mind repeats
Because….i like showing them to other people
When you learn about a four tusked Elephant, a Leucistic Bongo, everything TR did, and the Westly Richards extended magazine rifle…you tend to want to show as many people as you can
……oh no, I’m a photo hoarder😭
We have reached the golden 20s 🔥
Jim Shockey with a hippo taken in the Zambezi Delta.
He originally bought the tag with the intent to kill a young bull that had laid claim to a crop field and was chasing villagers along the river.
As it happened, while stalking said bull, this cow charged his group from almost 120m away. She was so dedicated to the attack that she crossed a narrow and steep sided slough to get at them.
Jim fired as soon as he was sure it wasn't a bluff, this hippo took 3 rounds of .458 Winchester magnum from Jim's rifle and 2 additional rounds from the PH's .577 NE.
All the meat was donated to the affected village and though it wasn't covered in the show Jim bought another tag and killed the problem bull as well.
Ah yeah true my bad
It’s been half a year since I posted this, so here it is again for the newcomers
Such a great map
That looks like it could be cool but i don’t exactly understand which biomes are included except for the savannah
.470 Capstick in a scout rifle
This is a monster but I wish i could have it
Oooo, 470 capstick double barrel bolt action
With elephant engraving
👨🏻🍳 😙👌(chef’s kiss)
not sure if its been mentioned yet, but I feel as though there would have to be a new hunting structure for the big 5, since iirc being charged by a bull elephant while I'm a tripod doesn't exactly sit well with the "realistic" intentions of the game, since close range hunting seems like a quick way to easily be stampeded or bull rushed if they make any of them aggressive (I'd imagine they would) and foot hunting (run and gunning if you will) doesn't seem practical IMO unless there's some sort of max concealment to compensate for larger/taller species who would be able to look down at a tripod, giraffes being able to see eye to eye in tree stands, and all the others, just, dont make any sense if you wish to play as realistically in terms of animal behaviors.
Will the herd animals of the big 5 have static need zones, or will they perhaps maybe continually migrate around certain parts of the map visiting different communal "watering holes”&/or species specific times, but dynamic with random locations chosen per map entry per species, to give hunting them the proper feeling of having a challenge, or even have a more realistic approach as to how the hunter would choose to set up a hunt for them?
Would the big 5 species be spookable from a walking/running trigger, since a lot of elephants just dont GAF, maybe only going aggressive/fleeing when walking/running too close to the herds, and or maybe after a sufficient amount of warning calls such as for hippos?
Jeeps for a new mode of transportation, only accessible on this map?
A new large breed dog that can retrieve class 2 only speices, but also a form of predator protection where its job can be guaranteed to fend off attacks, possibly triggered naturally OR maybe even commanded? Maybe there could be more for this breed, or maybe other breeds suited for dangerous game hunting?
Definitely going to need a bigger lodge for these trophies, no questions, it would have to be absolutely necessary
I'm taking this opportunity to make an In the top
We’ve solved the lodge issue.
There’s a number of Spots in sasika and the other one with the correct highet for Giraffe and elephants, they would only be playable on those specific mounts.
Alternatively head mounts, neck mounts would solve the issue
It’s very rare to find one of these animals fully stuffed IRL
Why... why are you here then? You came to the Africa discussion to tell people who are actively talking about implementing an African map that you don't want Africa as much as Arctic Canada?
Day 536 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Side note, African Bee eaters and lilac breasted rollers are absolutely gorgeous birds
Looks AI but it's real. I love Africa
Me too
Africa is an amazing place
Devs gatekeeping the map atp...
Am I dumb, is that ai or not
Would AI give you such an amazing triple chin glamorious hippo
It's so smug. . .I wanna introduce it to a .470
"Keep smilin' river pig, I'm 'bout to send you a .45 caliber attitude adjustment airmail"
Right in between the eyes
Day 537 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I love how you can tell the artist is scared of lions, the weird faces give it away
Another day, another-
day 538 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Why. . .is there. . .a bullethole in it's shoulder?
That….is a question
Bullet failure
Maybe. I don’t know what the artist was thinking when painting it
Did you notice it?
Nope, too busy looking at those horns and stripes
Maybe it's his way of saying "aim here morons"
I cannot explain how much it would mess with my head to see a Kudu bull in deer season in the states. The background looks like mid fall in Tennessee
I want to hunt Rhinos, Zebras, and Hyenas!
They already have a basic design for a Rhino.
Its very small
The angle of the pic makes it look smaller than it is. It's much bigger in person.
Good point.
I will say though that the head looks wrong.
The model is very old and most of it is covered in blood so you can’t really see all the details and shape of the lips
Day 539 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Slow day today
Day 540 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Are you fr
Yep, it’s been 540 days since this thread was made
(I might be off by a day or two, but I’m fairly confident)
Dang
Yeah, it’s kinda ridiculous
lol
It’s crazy that they haven’t made Africa 2.0 yet
Day 541 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Somehow they're the same animal
I hope we get to hunt these, you can i woth and they sometimes go and bite your ankles
I want one

Day 542 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Give me All 3 Large African Wild Cats together on Africa 2.0 Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs and I’ll be Happy!
We need Floppa
I do really like them and Servals a lot
I second this. imagine being chased down by something more terrifying than western caps
oooo greater kudus would also be fun to hunt
OK MAKE THAT 5 AFRICAN WILDCATS!
What are the rest?
Glad you Asked “African Lion, African Leopard, African Cheetah, Caracal and Serval”!
Thanks
Day 543 of waiting for Africa 2.0
painful man, painful 💔
I know, It’s very depressing
Which one are you targeting?
A
the d if I see it first otherwise the A too.
B/C
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
E. All of the above
BD
I have a thing for long horns and antlers
D
A/B
Low-key all of them
B and D
It doesn’t work like that unfortunately, but I do agree
You didn't specify one single hunt
If its only 1 hunt D
But if its 2 then b as well
I did it a bit late today.. but the Black-faced Impala made the https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1375377136466268170
B
Day 544 of waiting for Africa 2.0
This idea is really good but its gonna be a hard job doing all animals
(Sorry for the late reply) when it says which one
Which one are you going for?
(A for mountain nyala, B for bongo, C for black rhino, D for waterbuck)
D
A, B and D. its not that I woudnt shoot a rhino in game, i would just shoot those ones first
Has to be one
My fav african stuff is Nyala, Bongos, Greaters Kudu, Leopards, Okapi, Dik-Dik, Eland, and Sables.
Also did not say "choose only one"
Either c or d. Idk what to choose
Sorry been busy recently
Not far now from 2000!
I like these framed daily posts
Yeah, they fit in the picture limit really nicely
Africa pls devs
I'm convinced that the majority of the forest antelope like Nyala and Bongo could be hunted with a lever action rifle. I'm still wanting to take my .30-30 over and do some hunts in the bushveld and miuntains
Hey if they fix the 30-30 i would love to hunt in a forest like this
Nyala, Bongo and Sitatunga are my top fav African animals 🙌
Meant irl but yeah, I'd love to hunt in a nice close range jungle
I hate how they've done the .30-30 in this game but I believe irl it'd be perfectly fine for antelope
If they can handle moose I'd trust them with everything up to Eland for sure
Eland look like an odd breed of cattle, I'd kinda expect a beefy taste
Maybe a gamey beef
Doubt.
It's all in the way meat is handled n the field. And yes. That includes large animals in extreme heat.
Day 445 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Africa 2.0 Weapon poll
(You don't have to answer i'm just curious)
What caliber would you choose?
A. 416
B. 458
C. 500
D. 425
What action type would you prefer?
A. Bolt
B. Double barrel
C. Double barrel bolt action(?)
D. Single shot
How would like to get the rifle?
A. Purchase via in game store
B. Received free during a mission
C. Found out in the reserve (i.e. recovered from a poachers camp)
D. A combination of the above 3 choices
Lastly, would you be interested in multiple versions of the same weapon or a variation of it that must be found in the reserve but not attached to any particular mission, person, or location?
(I.E. a rifle the Warden lost when they were charged by an animal, a weapon that fell out of a bushplane and caught in a small tree)
C, C and C
i have to go for b or c. can't decide which
I feel targeted with The first two questions, but
B. C. D and maybe if it was engraved or something like that
- .416 rigby would be my first choice but .458 would be great too.
- bolt action would be preferred but a double bolt is a close second
- combination . id like to be able to get it from the store but get a unique variant from a mission. a mission where i discover and loot a poachers camp is a pretty great idea imho.
Balderdash, it's all in your head lad
Mission idea.
Tracks in the bush
Tracking a wounded leopard leads you to a small corner of the reserve where the brush gets particularly hard to navigate. The leopard is in a small clearing, the wound it recieved is a deep cut on it's back from one side to the other.
About the time the Warden suggests the cat was a victim of poachers, you see the bloody remains of a shirt and a single torn glove.
Seems the poacher got a taste of what he deserves, but the glove looks fairly familiar. Following the blood you find and pick up some ammunition.
The Warden presented you with a plain but functional .416 Bolt Action earlier in your employment but these cartridges are larger still.
As you press on, the Warden says he's happy to do this without the constant input of Alexander Baden, a neighbor of the reserve whose been a constant annoyance.
In the distance, you see a tiny column of smoke. The Warden asks you to divert but promises you'll be back on the trail soon.
You pick up the blood trail again and it seems to lead directly to the source of the smoke. A camp tucked into a thicket on the edge of the reserve, a pile of traps waiting to be deployed and a few horns and skulls tell you the owners of the camp.
There's quite a splash of blood by the dying fire and it trails away to the edge of the river. You search the camp for any evidence and in a small tent you find it.
A rifle, a bolt action .458 with tusks engraved on it, the box for the ammunition you've been finding, and a small journal.
It seems Baden has been enjoying the reserve a bit more than he let on and it came back to bite him. Literally. With evidence in hand and a confiscated rifle, you return to the Warden.
A few days pass and the Warden calls you and says something has happened to a nearby outpost. Nothing looks particularly out of place, except the engraved. 458 lying on the desk. A gift for your work in taking down a poacher and a letter offering you a job as a Ranger for the reserve
I'm picturing the Baden in this case to be the annoying "better than you" kind of A hole that constantly gives unwanted advice and is the worst kind of know it all.
(Not just because because I believe all those people deserve to be mauled by angry animals)
(OK maybe a little)
They basically taste like beef
Most meat hunters here would tell you if you shoot an Eland for meat you might as well buy beef
I can imagine. Still though, I have hunted feral cattle just for meat in the past. Still might if I find a place that'd let me
My wife has allergies to most commercial medicine they give meat animals these days so wild animals are much safer for her
Personally I'd go for D, A, B
I just want a good looking, well modeled rifle that's really actually useful and fitting
I sincerely want a .416 bolt action with a 3 round magazine and GOOD IRON SIGHTS.
The .375's are OK but the front bead is way too small
The thing about Eland though is that they move like crazy. If they just think you're on them there gone. A while ago a colleague of my dad's was targeting Eland and ended up chasing them of the same 'reserve' from side to side of the joint and over small mountains for like 2 days before he gave up and just shot some impala instead
If I was seriously worried about having enough meat, I'd actually go impala or another smaller antelope but if I was comfortable with how much food we had I could dedicate the time to an eland just because it's that much meat.
We all prefer elk but I do put several deer in the freezer just in case. I feel like you'd do the same thing if you had the chance anywhere in the world
this sounds like a great idea. honestly wish theyd start adding more content that isn't geared towards grinding
YESSSS
Might not be able to post a day of waiting for Africa 2.0 tomorrow
If anyone wants to replace me tomorrow, you can go for it
I think a 460 Weatherby model would be sick or a .416 Rigby
No one can replace you
I'd pay cash for a single rifle if it was nice and useful. This 9.3x62mm covering 4-9 with better penetration than the 7mm would be a good start

We also need a cape buffalo remodel. Big dimes should look like B
Yes, they are so outshined by the modern engine it’s insane, idk why i just don’t like hunting them anymore or anything on Africa because of how outdated everything is there
Day 548 of waiting for Africa 2.0
More Awsome art
Day 549 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Feral Cattle in what country?
America, specifically Tennessee and Wyoming.
Charlais cattle in Tennessee and Herefords here in Wyoming.
You’ll never catch me eating cats
Day 550 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I can confirm Season 4 of Squid Game is coming, and there’s something… not quite human making its first move. The baby 222 from last season is still key, and those sheep’s eyes? They’re way more important than anyone realizes.
By the way, I’m the actor for the squid itself—so trust me, I know what’s coming.
This season is going to change everything. Get ready. The game’s deeper than ever. 👁️🦑
Thought provoking stuff
Very
Makes me really think about conservation in Africa
I would sell my house for these if it was even worth it
Hypothetically Question….What Classes do you think both Cheetahs and Leopards would be on if Both of them made it to Africa 2.0?!
Day 551 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Cheetahs either 3 or 4, leopard 7
Nyasa wildebeest might be my new favorite big antelope, the way the light brown hide stands out from the black mane and tail is something that just looks amazing to me
cheetah's 3 or 4 and leopards 5
3/4 and 7/8
Cheetahs I'd lean toward 3, they are neither large nor tough so. . .
I guess we’ll put 3 to 4 for cheetahs I’ll probably give them a class 4 just to be fair… leopard I might go with 5…. I mean they’re big but cougars are currently class 5 and cougars are technically somewhat bigger than leopards surprisingly so class 5 would be good for leopards
I was reading a bit earlier and wildebeest was mentioned as the "poor man's buffalo" and the author noted it as one of the toughest animals in Africa.
The more I read the more he talked about how many people he's seen make bad shots on them and lose them or have incredibly long tracking sessions for them
Preach!
From irl experience, they are probably THE toughest antelope in Africa. Only things I could think of that could be tougher are Eland, Sable, and maybe Bongo
Never heard this about them before, are they classed right in game or do they need a rework?
I would say they need a rework
For my wildebeest it took 3 perfectly placed shots from a 30-06 for him to finally drop
(I highly recommend 338 or bigger for wildebeest)
I've heard basically nothing about wildebeest hunts, I'm going through byh looking for meat hunts close by
Im both bored and hungry for something other than elk and black bear
Bison hunt then maybe?
Dunno, I'm kinda looking at black buck culls. Wanna see how my .30-30 handles them because I really wanna take it for impala hunts and blackbucks are about as close as I can get
Bro is waiting for something that will not come for like 3 years😭
Cheetah C4/5 and leopard C7/8 (nothing nastier than a wounded leopard so you use big calibers)
Day 552 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Not if you bang the drums loud enough!
Okay so for you Africa hunters I ask as I hear most hunting outfitters don't let people eat their animals that they hunted
What does common antelope game taste like
Depends on the animal but (in my experience) Like really good elk
Better than elk
Uh I'll stick with the most common ones
Impala
Wildebeest
Kudu
Eland
i agree an new african map would be awsome
Day 553 of waiting for Africa 2.0
This reminds me, what do you guys think of "damaged" trophy parts? Broken tusks, split horns, or broken off tips?
I love them. It gives the animal a lot of personality
Exactly, I'd love to see it show up once in a while as part of the tru-racs system
A neighbor of ours has a scarred old bull elk shoulder mount with two tines snapped off from it's last fight and it's incredible
You don’t want to track a wounded leopard. That’s a solid, quick way to loose your face.
This seems like a better response
If we get Cameroon by some miracle I hope we get Forest buffalo, they're weird and i love them
@ivory summit I saw this and amidietly thought of you so I took a picture
personly i would love to blow a giraffe to high heaven
i would love to hunt elephants and hippos and a honey badger
Aaaaah that's so cool !
Where is this ?
Here in Berlin where I'm from, I'll research a bit into it
Guess what animal they have as there logo (don't look online
A Hirola Hartebeest?
That's right a kudu!
Western Kudu was going to be my second guess
Oh that's super cool
Thanks for sharing hey
My friends recommended this brandy to me. It's called Bosvark (bush pig) but has a photo of Vlakvark (wart hog)
We were a little confused because it's even a South African brand from Limpopo province
I've never had brandy
So it’s called Impala but the logo is a Kudu?
That’s like naming your company Cape Buffalo but you’re logo is a hippo
Yeah 😂
A double brandy shot, lots of ice and coke is basically the Go-To drink for any Afrikaaner in Southern Africa. I'd definitely recommend it but some brandy is better than others. That Bosvark brandy is really really good
I just googled it it's like cognac, I don't like hard alcohol but I get the appeal.
This channel isn't just a cotw suggestion anymore. In my opinion it's a whole subcommunity of learning and cultural exchange.
And exchange of African related knowledge from person to person
Ja it's very much like cognac just nicer imo
I can say from experience, a brandy and coke with ice after a hot day really is lekker though
Yeah it's a wonderful place! I learned so much about african wildlife and culture here
I guess we alteast got the Impala logos right in SA. Between the club Impala in Potchefstroom and Impala Platinum mines
Left kinda looks like a springbok tbh
Ja it does kinda
They atleast have a Impala shoulder mount inside to make up for that
i love the idea of a new africa map the other one was kinda bad
Day 554 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Excuse me?! When did these things get this big? Class 4 my a*s that's a 6
It looks like the guy is standing further back to make the warthog look bigger
Shadow of the tail, it's on the ground and the guy isn't standing too far back by that count
Day 555 of waiting for Africa 2.0
What are you going for?
(A white kudu, B White Rhino, C Roan, D Kuland)
B but it just looks like a regular rhino
It is just a normal white rhino
C/D
C. No doubt or hesitation.
Take a close look here, both of these are chambered in the same caliber.
Pick one to add to the game
Left
Well, my bad, found out those are just regular rhinos
Kuland
D all the way
C
Day 556 of waiting for Africa 2.0
You don’t have my money?
C
Now this is what I'd call a stutbul
Rather call him dinner
.470 KingDB wearing a 1-4 scope well
Dinner for the next few months that's for sure
Go to rifle for eland?
.375 H&H
.30-06 also works, just not as safe as a 300gr .375 H&H load
I'm leaning towards a .338 WM if my back will let me
.338 will do just fine
A buddy of mine has taken Eland with a .338 WM without issue in bushveld conditions
Day 557 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Which one are you going for?
(A leopard, B zebra, C impala, D hippo)
D
Has to be B, beautiful animals
Yep that's my second
Idk if I'm weird as much as I want this map I'd be really only caring for plains game rather than big game
Idk I find stuff like eland, nyala, Impala, sable and greater kudu more appealing than rhino and elephant
Although both should be in with this map I'm just saying I'd likely hunt them and grind for them
C
That was the obvious choice for you
A
Guys we were so close to writing acab in the Africa chat 😔
So. . .this is a .35 Whelen and I want one
Day 558 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Which one are you going for?
(A Nile croc, B Black Lechwe, C Giraffe, D Yellow-backed Duiker)
B
D, could make a sick jacket hood with that mf
D
@dire prism omg you genius
It would also make for a good backside of a vest
i see interesting markings and my brain says clothing lol
Exactly, I really want to make a classy vest from a gazelle
Also, you can't tell me a really nice leather vest made with leopard hide wouldn't be amazing
would be dope af
If it was up to me I'd be dressed like I was in rdr2 all the time lol
You can its free a country
I'm married
Oh that's put an end to things
I was gonna do an elk hide jacket with the mane as a collar and cuffs but she put an end to that idea
How women think men want to dress
Vs how men really want to dress
You got a weird choice of fashion for a game.with some amazing options
Marriage is what stops men from doing stupid fun things
Hay I have an idea(SLAP upside the head), no you don’t
I have more than that
I completely agree with this, she's absolutely certain I'd pick a fight with the vegans around here
NGL if I were to ever go on a safari hunt I'm pigging out and consuming thousands of pounds of meat ain't nothing getting donated 😂
The plane back across the pond is going down as I'll weigh too much
Saw a very interesting rifle online and mentioned to her that it would solve several problems for me.
She swatted me with a newspaper and reminded me we have livestock to feed
True…….but counter argument…fancy new gun
What more common north american or European calibers do well in Africa for like a all arounder and then one specifically for the big boys
The cartridge that immediately pops into my head given that description: 9.3x62
I have heard both the 9.3x62 and 375 being good all-rounders if your expecting to take Dangerous Game and Plains Game
Remington 600 takedown scout. This one is chambered for 6.5x55 and .350 Rem Mag
#1268661445097422908
just gonna shill a bit
True but I think x62 has historically been recounted as a bit more versatile.
Not to mention they look great
I see these possible for the next weapon pack dlc
Aaahh what can I say 😂
Saw some cool stuff today on a walk. Couple nice photos at Zebra, came across an Impala bachelor heard and what was really awesome and rare was coming across a heard of Reedbuck, 3 females and 1 male
Day 559 of waiting for Africa 2.0
That's the updated version of the 9.3x62mm from classic actually
E. all the above
Man i want to play classic fully, i hope it comes to xbox sometime
I'd love that but I don't think it's possible. Honestly just port all the guns/equipment over to CotW and I'll gladly pay for it
this is a great painting
I love a good African animal painting
This is one of my favorites that you've posted here
Just need a nice sable in game man are they dope
Day 560 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Sorry to put some bad news out there
Then we need to keep hounding them for it
Lame response. We can’t do Africa justice right now🙄
EW stop overthinking Africa. You don’t have to put every single African species on one map.
This is kinda getting annoying now. The community clearly wants Africa 2.0 but time and time again they keep avoiding anything African related with a ten foot pole.
I am legitimately concerned the game will die before Africa 2.0 comes out
They want it to be the last map but they could easily make big 5 the last map and do 1-2 more at least before then
Little bit far fetched theory here but I think the new way to switch maps in game is to make room to put another USA map in there because they easily could have gotten Alberta in there.
Not to mention, they’ve literally said they have the capabilities to do Africa MULTIPLE times.
They could put a second Canadian Map and a second Mexican Map too considering we have Askiy Ridge (Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦 ) and Rancho del Arroyo (Sonora, Mexico 🇲🇽 ), but I would like to see an Upland Bird focused map set in the US
Maybe a aisan mountain map
Trying to put as much of Africa as they could into one map ruined Vurhonga once people figured it out, yes its set in Botswana but it has species from Eastern Africa
Yeah there are many other games that have superior Africa maps and EW just let's vurhoga sit there along
Cabela's African Safaris features well over 2 dozen antelope species ranging from duiker and klipspringer to medium-sized species like impala, bushbuck and lechwe to larger species like sable, greater kudu, waterbuck and eland and its mostly set in Southern Africa with some versions also having Tanzania
Yeah and way of the hunter has a great map too
Its better then Vurhonga
Yeah I think EW is seriously just putting Africa back more they should have
Tikkamoon is great but it fumbled the bag a bit. It really could be so much better.
Yeah
Tikamoon has so much dead ground and wasted space, just a few more plains game species could make it absolutely incredible
AND WHY IS THERE NO IMPALA? THEYRE THE POSTER ANIMALS FOR AFRICAN HUNTING
Honestly make this a map with leopards and crocs and people will GLADLY buy it for a new taste of Africa
True that
If they didn’t ignore Africa for so long there wouldn’t be this big expectation for a map with the big 5 and 70 or so species of plains game on it.
Seriously,
Give me a map with 12 species of plains game, crocodiles, hyenas, and leopards, then a couple birds like Egyptian geese and guinea fowl.
Add a .458 single shot or a 9.3x62mm bolt action and I'll happily pay 15$ for the map without a second thought
Okay, but if they don't do it justice then all of you will be mad, just sayin'
They would have to put bongo in the Kalahari dessert for me to complain about a second African map
And make the warden a massive poacher
But let's say they mess something up, either an animal model, or where they place the map and what animals they put on it. If they mess it up you guys will be mad, so if they take longer making elephants, bongos, better lions, hippos, etc, then it would probably be the most epic map. So I would just try to be patient with them, things take time and effort to make them good. Just saying.
pls dont be mad at me
I don’t get why we need to view Africa as that much different than any other map. It’s a simple ish formula
Antelope = Deer
Warthog = Pig
Kudu = Elk
Eland = Moose
You get the picture.
I said USA we could easily have 2 more NA maps but I think we’ve filled up USA
To really mess up the map it'd have to be an absolute nightmare. As of right now, anything with the quality of the last couple makes would be an incredible improvement to vurhonga.
Given how much easier it'd be to model antelope horns than deer racks it's weird that they are avoiding Africa. It feels like they are avoiding it because it would be hard to make a Great One antelope or some nonsense.
The honest truth is we don't need a Great One on every map and for some reason they're treating it like a dev requirement to even think of working on it
Its not that hard to make a good African map, just avoid making the mistakes that were made on Vurhonga, plus only one African map really needs all members of the Dangerous 7, they could easily make several plains game focused maps of the same quality as Askiy Ridge and Emerald Coast
Considering the detail of models and the maps nowadays, since it’s the most requested map of all, i’d put my time and effort into it. So i don’t think it has anything to do with that they’re taking too much time to make it, i just think they have other reserves they want to feature and make for us to play in. It wasn’t too long ago that everyone wanted the Arctic map and many was disappointed that it wasn’t the Arctic but it turned out to be imo one of the best maps currently, amazing remodels, great map design and spread of animals, fantastic music, good story. It isn’t what we wanted but it shows they can still surprise us with something we didn’t even know we wanted (not speaking for all of us but i’ve seen much good feedback). My tip to all of you is just be patient, be grateful, this isn’t our game and the devs have a roadmap set out for what they want to do, we can’t always get what we want.
Sorry for the long text, i’m not good at explaining. Hope you all understand.
Guys I think I'm in love
This completely
It’s a pisstake now
Doesn’t even have to be big 5
Just stop giving us North American reserves
They don’t stop parroting this point. Devs have said it’s not the case
Agreed but the wall needs decoration to show off how good they look
I don’t know what the hell they’re doing, it’s daft and ridiculous.
Clearly someone in the company Dosnt want to see Africa
Day 561 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I sincerely hope that's not the case but I'm starting to feel like it is
I wonder how many people have already stopped playing because a new African map is the only thing they're interested in
We could, but should we?
I think Arctic is important, the rest idrc about
This was specifically towards the us, I'd love Yucatan, the Arctic and hawaii

#1325928774612811937
Oh right Hawaii yeah i want that reserve as the next one, totally forgot that it was in the US
Also for Africa, if we get white rhinos i want them to have the old bison mechanic where they just rush right at you when you’ve shot it. It needs an overhaul completely for that behaviour because bison aren’t as exciting to hunt anymore because of it, so i hope this can be added to rhinos instead
White rhinos don’t attack people, they’re massive wusses.
Black rhinos will charge you
I been thinking about this and sincerely the only things I need for Africa 2.0 to be absolutely incredible is a good mix of like 6 to 9 antelope species like impala, hartebeest and sable, leopards and hyenas, and a rock solid *TRADITIONAL STYLE 9.3x62mm bolt action that covers 4-9 (is it too big for deer size animals? No, and it doesn't matter if it is)
Wanna make it even better? Add some hippos and crocs and switch the rifle to a .416 (Rigby style please)
Alright black rhinos then, though i don’t fully believe you
It isn't, screw colonialism
Right with you there
Day 562 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Day 563 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Arrive alive always posts the craziest stuff man
Preach
I agree to this no need for the standard north american maps anymore same goes for Europe
Should be Africa or Asia next plain and simple
Day 564 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Is this a live video of natural selection failing?
As far as i’m concerned, except for the Arctic we don’t need no more north american maps (I don’t count Hawaii as in the US)
I wouldn’t mind Bushranger’s 2.0 next either.
Im thinking the next map will be European, kind of doing what Askiy Ridge did and letting them rework the European animals like roe deer and wild boar, which do need it i admit
I'd still much prefer an African map with like 6 or 9 antelope and leopards
And here I was hoping we were going to get a break from North America & Europe, though they could do another Asian map while reworking wild boar and roe deer
Where is Asia are roe deer? I know wild boar are widespread but mind educating me good sir
Kazakhstan and Russia
Day 565 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Kazakhstan or Mongolia for me would be lit
Hello👋
Yo!
Hey man good to see you
Hey 👋
Last time i saw you being active on the Server you were downvoting random posts
Yeah I'm not all that proud of that and I've been reversing it
went through a real dark phase back then but I'm feeling better now
It's good to be back but the extent of that I am not sure
good to hear that. There were some really good posts of yours that you may wanna revive.
Oh I don't know about that I don't have as big of an interest as I once used to and they weren't overly successful as I would have wanted. But this is perhaps off topic for the gem that is the Africa Big Five post nice to see it has been doing so well
Day 566 of waiting for Africa 2.0
That is very detailed
Same here!!
The detail is incredibly well done on this one
Good to hear you’re better now, welcome back
Glad to hear the same thing 🫂
I've looked through all of the art you post, and they are simply amazing pieces of work
Thanks good to see you
Glad to see you back on the server. Stay strong my friend, you got this. I know that medical stuff is hard. My wife has been battling cancer for last few years, so I know the struggle is real. Ive seen first hand.
@haughty nimbus Hey! long time no see man awesome to see your post has been doing well a little suprised it hasn't reached the magical 1000 mark yet but you'll get there.
I'm sorry to hear your partner has been going through that, it sucks and I wish her all the best, cancer is a b*tch and a half.
Thank you! I appreciate that. Being we just got Canada it's not getting much steam but if we get an African map next summer maybe it could be soon after that. It will be amazing if it ever happens. Im off to work. Have a great day.
Yeah Alberta is a cool map but I haven't purchased it yet. Enjoy your day
Day 567 of waiting for Africa 2.0
@untold maple Do you know where Wellington is atm?
sorry for the ping
Probably in the UK or in South Africa
Grand theft auto 6 might be before africa 2.0 😔
We getting gta 6 before Africa 2.0
Praying for you and your wife tonight. Good to see you here.
I am around just quite busy at the moment!
(I’ve also rebranded to MadMike)
Hello! Long freaking time no see last time we talked it was like 4 months ago how are you?
I’ve been absent for a while!
I’m well thank you and your side? We’re still fighting for our Africa 2 here, despite the devs illogical reluctance to produce one.
Doing pretty good myself travelled to Norway and Sweden not too long ago and had a blast. Yep I see that even with 1,966 upvotes they still not budging but I am absolutely 100.99% sure we'll get our map
Day 568 of waiting for Africa 2.0
EW’s excuses to not do Africa 2
“We want it to be done justice!”
That’s great I agree, but why should that mean kicking it down the road until the end of planned development?
If that was the case then why the hell did we get Vurhonga already? Why must a second africa map be such an apparently impossible task for the team, when we already have one?
It’s genuinely an unintelligent outlook. Don’t want the hassle of elephants and giraffes rhinos etc? FINE! Then don’t bloody do them. Make an Africa map with any other assortment of creatures.
I don’t understand the crutch of their issue, is it the terrain? (Probably not) the location? (Well we have an African map already ingame so no) the species lineup? Could well be, but again anything they don’t want to add, they don’t need to. People won’t be disappointed getting Impala, leopard, hippo (I could
Name a ton of species but let’s steer away from a barrage)
Get a hold of yourselves please, what we are asking for is not an impossible task.
Who knows maybe one of the developers has some personal gripe with the continent.
Worst case scenario is that we just defect to ultimate hunting when that releases.
I think i might know: it is possible that they’re doubting their ability to top Africa since it’s the most requested map, i think that might be why they are delaying it and why they want to do it justice. Of course most of us know it can be topped, they’ve surprised us many times with dlcs i would’ve never thought would work. But i don’t want to throw shade at EW it’s only a theory and i truly hope it isn’t like this
My must have animals for an Africa map are the Cheetah and the Rhino.
Also, just scrolling up, why do the game devs seem to ignore this post? They have not typed here in months. It is kinda demoralizing.
(Also, I wanted seals and polar bears the most from the most recent map, but got disappointed on both fronts 🙁 )
And about to have 2k upvotes here...
I just don't see the sense in avoiding Africa, literally any new area and animals would be a massive improvement on Vurhonga.
We sincerely just need new antelope and predators like hyenas and leopards. If they want to make a map that revolves around elephants then fine, but give us something in the meantime.
It's like going to a restaurant getting your drink and waiting six years for the bread and entree
Yeah, I have no idea what’s going through their minds about it
Are they allergic to money?
I’m not sure, but they do
Talk about it from time to time. A lot more than any of proposed map suggestion.
Day 569 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Personally, looking at what EW has been able to make over their most recent maps I really think EW could make a good plainsgame Africa 2.0
I think EW has been doing a great job at making good looking maps lately and has also done well with animals models and sounds lately.
I think if EW were to make a map similar to EC or AR (in terms of number of species) with a focus on plainsgame, we could really have something great.
I just think a plainsgame heavy map, modeled after a typical hunting area in the bushveld of Northwest or Limpopo province of South Africa would be great. It's great hunting grounds and your average hunt area probably doesn't have or offer big 5 or dangerous 6 hunts anyways.
But you know, well have to see what EW does, after all, the ball is in their court
I have been reminded of a reserve idea of mine that have been keeping on the backburner for a long time now, just putting it all in writing so I can post it later
I will say that my Plains Game Reserve Idea is neither in Southern Africa (I recall doing such a concept set in the Eastern Cape) and its not set in West Africa (My current West African map concept is basically a bird & small game focused map)
Africa 2 will probably dissapoint
Day 570 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Let’s hope not
@mighty rampart what do you think about the radioactive material going into the rhino’s horns? It’s been popping up in my news feeds lately
I’ve been kicking off about it on the tiktok comments non stop
The guys doing this are conservationists, and clearly didn’t work with any anti-poaching group/company throughout the entire process.
Their main argument is that this will make it harder for “poachers” to get it into airports, and that “more poachers will be scared of getting caught because of the radiation”
This is all a load of complete and viscus horse-sh1t.
Poachers do not run around the bush with Geiger counters nor do border security. Beyond this no one in their right mind would go through and airport with a bag full of horns as everything gets X-rayed already?
The horns get smuggled over the borders of Zimbabwe and Mozambique through the Kruger on foot, and through the bush. Once there they then go through very well established routes that do not involve any official border points or airports. The only exceptions are horns that enter Mozambique that enter through a “unnamed country’s” embassy and then directly to the host nations from there. It’s a complete waste of money and air.
Additionally, it’s not going to deter poachers as they actually claim, namely because the poachers don’t actually handle the horns across borders and instead it goes through. Massive chain that’s part of a criminal syndicate, one that’s probably also doing drug dealing, modern slavery, prosti etc, the poachers won’t stop because they are the ones being forced into it by their terrible governments and extreme poverty.
The guys going into the bush are happy to face the prospect of being in a big 5 at night with effectively no protection or torches. So what is a non-lethal dosage of radioactive material in a horn going to do to them?
It’s then cheered on. Y everyone online as “finally solving the issue forever!” Along with the usual crowd of uninformed chanting on for poachers to have bounties put of for them to be killed etc. I hate it, people are so stupid and suddenly become experts on something from a 35s NBC TikTok.
Very fair points there.
Poachers are criminals and criminals don’t care about following the law
It’s the same as car alarms putting an end to all car thefts…
I saw the article about that and wondered how that would even make sense. Good to know how it wouldn't work though
An EC level plains game map with a similar biome mix would be an absolutely perfect Africa 2.0 for me. It would literally hit everything I've been hoping for with no mega fauna. Leopards, crocs and hyenas would be absolutely ideal
oh hey I haven't seen you around in a bit lol
also agreed give mixed biome africa map with more apex/mesocarnivores
i want hyenas so badly
or GPS devices putting an end to phone/laptop thefts
Exactly
I've been dealing with some poachers and a$$ holes on my place and trying to fix problems
ah, sounds like busy work; i findally shot my enfield and my .30-30 had the bolt head break due to poor steel quality so now I'm waiting on warranty response from Henry Repeating Arms
They have a good response time, I wouldn't worry much.
I've had at least two different trucks show up on my land and they're poaching elk. I've had to fix three fences and I'm seriously considering setting up with a rifle and showing them how unwelcome they are
Yeah it's only been 2 days since I filed the ticket with their warranty service and they did have a site notice that they handle them chronologically and are currently dealing with an exceptionally high volume of support/warranty calls, so it might take a slight bit.
As far as the poaching goes thats tragic and annoying, probably the only thing that makes me hesitant about owning my own land out somewhere. Best of luck with catching them and making sure they f off.
I have neighbors offering to help and the game warden told me if I accidentally shot up their truck while it's on my land then it'll be their fault for trespassing
Well, it might work if they used something toxic to humans but that might be "cruel" to the poachers
I guess arsenic is potentially a solution 💀
Good to see ya ain't alone facing those dirtbags.
Also lol to the game warden saying stupid games stupid prizes if they get their truck shot up while trespassing lmao.
Yeah, the game wardens here have no tolerance for stupid people
sounds a lot like Colorado Parks and Wildlife; they take wildlife violations very seriously here too
Im betting a lot of US wardens would get along with the anti-poaching guys in Africa. I've met a couple wardens who've been to Africa and talked more about the anti-poaching crews than the trip
Day 571 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Speaking of anti-poaching
I saw a short promotional video by Onguma Safari Camps on Instagram for World Ranger Day.
Pretty cool short video
That'd be a nice multimount actually
Day 572 of waiting for Africa 2.0
At 2000 upvotes I’ll buy out EW, remove every map bar Vurhonga and watch the company disintegrate, selling it only once the maximum price would equal around £45 and a box of malteasers.
All this as a start!
I'll contribute R10 and some Euros I found in Italy
Wild dogs would be an insanely cool hunt, imagine a pack of them sniffing around the E-caller or chasing off the impala you were after
That does sound quite fun
You want a KAC SR-15 or URGI to deliver 5.56 to them? Can't use them in my country anymore and would gladly allow them to be used for protecting animals
My favorite African carnivores
I wonder if there're any dog breeds or if it would be possible to get dog breeds off of them like humans did with wolves
Day 573 of waiting for Africa 2.0
EW give us african wilddogs as our dog on Africa 2.0
That's a challenge. "Come get me. I dare you." Look
Which one are you going for?
(A sitatunga, B yellow belly duiker, C leopard, D Albino Bushbuck)
B
Opinion on shoebill storks not for hunting but in general
Y'all ever see the video of one sitting in Lilly pads in a downpour death staring the camera
Teddy Roosevelt hunted a shoebill
I’m in favor of them being added to a map
C
It was probably hunted to add to a museum
I mean the whole purpose of the Smithsonian–Roosevelt African expedition was to collect specimens for the National Museum of Natural History.
Of course a large number of birds like shoebills were going to be shot for the collection
Plus Africa has a lot of gamebirds like guineafowl, francolin, quail, dove, pigeon, sandgrouse, waterfowl and snipes
And I guess bustards count considering that Jim Shockey shot a “Kori Bustard” in Burkina Faso (it was likely either a Denham’s Bustard or Arabian Bustard)
I need this, neeeed it!
A 100%
Day 574 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Name your ideal hunt.
Money, time, rules notwithstanding.
Personally, I'd love to do a Lever Action only Safari. Impala, duiker(s), Warthog, Nyala, Sable, and leopard.
Tent camping, travel by light truck
Sounds awesome
I don't really know what I'd choose since I haven't been as interested as I once was for awhile
It's a thinker
It'll definitely disappoint some that's why I never have high expectations
Hippopotamus + Nile Crocodile packaged deal with a bit of plains game mixed in.
Getting a coworker into COTW and made a DLC recommendation list for when he moves to PC, pretty sad I have to say that while hunting on the only African map available is fun due to the open plains, all the animals are extremely out dated so it’s hard to recommend it!
Using the Inline going for waterbuck, nile lechwe, Red Hartebeest and black wildebeest
Them and birds of prey just have death stares by default
Red deer and tahr hunt in New Zealand, i’d bring a 50Cal. muzzleloader for the red deer and some nice carbine rifle for the tahr. It’d be a nice holiday and seeing a totally new place with completely different nature to what i’m used to
As much as I love and respect Africa
It'd have to be a trip to north BC and harvest one of everything you there basically a almost perfect combination of all game my ancestors once hunted
I’ve got several
Horseback mix bag safari in South Africa/Namibia (Cape buffalo, rhino, kudu, leopard, impala, black wildebeest, springbok, etc)
Tanzania Masai land safari(lesser kudu, Gerenuk, Grants Gazelle, striped hyena, etc)
Zambia swamp hunt(black lechwe and sitatunga)
Mozambique dangerous game hunt(lion, hippo, croc, elephant, Roosevelt sable, Livingston eland)
And two trips to Cameroon, one for the forest and one for the savanna(lord derby eland, bongo, forest elephant, Forest/Savanna buffalo, western Roan, etc)
Any of those and I’ll be happy
I think we know where I'm going with this but let me say it anyways.
I've half experienced my ideal hunt already but it goes something like this.
Wake up at 5:45 on the property I'm going to be hunting on, in the Messina region of South Africa, for coffee and rusks. 6:15 on my way in the bakkie to the spot that I'm going to start walking from. About 6:30 - 6:45 I hop out the bakkie and quickly load the .30-06 and then start walking along a game trail looking for whatever animal I find, but preferably Impala, the goal is to take home 3-5 impala for the whole trip. By about 11:30 it's time for lunch and a beer or nap. 14:00 back on the way out for the afternoon hunting session which ends at 17:00, the general rule is that there's no more shooting after 17:00. After that, back to the camp, build a nice big fire, chill, have some beer or brandy or whatever else you brought and then braai some nice meat, make milliepap with the braai. All that with good company to end the day makes that the ideal hunt for me
This is pretty much something I've done more than once irl and it's literally the best thing ever, I absolutely love it. It was great when I got to shoot my Kudu but it's one and done after that because that's all your meat right there. When it's Impala, 3-6 Impala are just enough to last a year so you get to "shoot more, shoot more often" as my dad would put it. Plus we all know my opinion on Impala
I don’t know it
Yeah I don't either
What is your opinion on Impala i’d like to know
Impala are his obsession, kind of like crack or gambling addiction is to some people
ok
Day 575 of waiting for Africa 2.0
"Welcome to Africa, yes, I am beautiful, now leave. I do not wish to be ogled by hairless monkeys this day"
Read in whatever accent you prefer leopards to have
Best antelope species in Africa.
They're the backbone of a lot of ecosystems, keeping vegetation in check and feeding a lot of predators. Forinstance, in a bushveld setting, Impala are the bulk of a leopards quarry. They're super athletic, they can run crazy fast and jump basically as high as a Kudu.
I absolutely love them
Just about right 😂
Interesting yes they are very beautiful, they seem like the whitetail of Africa
If we get Africa, lions should get the wolves mechanic but more sneaky so they aren’t as noisy, i think that could be cool. Especially during night hunting, but also it should mostly be female lions when in a group and when it’s a male lion it could maybe get the tiger mechanic since i’m pretty sure they hunt alone. PS: I should say they should take inspiration from these mechanics since lions hunt in different ways from other predators
Day 576 of waiting for Africa 2.0
You know EW has screwed up when even the Lion is shocked we haven't gotten the map
Yes exactly. They're generally the most plentiful, fill the same niche in their ecosystem, are the mostly commonly hunted and the cherry on top is that they Impala also has a nice white tail
Hahaha that’s great
Impala have a prettier hide tho
Apparently this is a Kudu in the Kruger National Park which should mean there was no human involved in selective breeding for it. Pretty impressive
Huge bull. I wonder how old he is
Day 577 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Beautiful raw african nature 🔥
The kudu looks uncomfortable
Yeah it does I wonder why🤔
Totally raw 🔥🔥
Not a joke and I have no idea why, but this legitimately makes me hungry and I don't know how to feel about it
………..I understand
Well now I feel even weirder
Me too😭
Sneak peak of what I was up to in Jan
Awesome, isn't it odd to have two adult rhinos that close together?
The place is full of them, not really. Black Rhinos are quite solitary, I’ve only ever seen one, and that was by itself.
White rhinos like to stay in groups, they are quite nervous creatures despite their size.
Must be thinking about males, anyway it's cool to see them with calves
I don't really have any interest in hunting rhinos, but I still hope I can see one or two when I visit Africa.
Likewise
Honestly out of the big five I'm only interested in leopards and buffalo, the biggest animal I sincerely want to hunt is a hippo bull
I saw 3 or 4 next to each other one time
I like hearing that
This place is full of them
Sometime ago in Africa’s prehistory…this happened
Megalotragus priscus and Syncerus antiquus, Africa has some pretty cool extinct megafauna even in the Late Pleistocene/Early Holocene
An even more gigantic water buffalo
Day 578 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I was gonna say it looks exactly like a Cape Buffalo with Water Buffalo horns
This had me second guessing whether this was a photo or painting 😂 such a cool one too probably my favourite yet
You know you're in a bad spot if you're talking down a lioness with nothing but a cattleman to save you
Pops chewing tobacco and activates deadeye from red dead redemption
Stole that whole sequence from rdr2 huh
Maybe
. . .you play rdr2?
I did yeah
So you know about the lion
Let’s get a winter African map,
Day 579 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Amazing
Winter bushveld is the peak hunting experience imo
I would have to agree
Far north in SA around Musina side, it's still pretty colorful even during a really dry year in the middle of winter, probably thanks to all the mopane trees and some of other thorn trees
Randomly got to the top
What about the area around Lesotho? Would that give us the option of a Yukon style weather system? The idea of stalking an impala with snow on its back makes me extraordinarily interested
Idk i wouldn’t want a snowy african map tbh
It should be a rare occurrence, maybe 7 or 8 days apart, but I think it'd be good to have another map with a real weather system
You know what if it’s rare i’m onboard, but then it’s gotta be like unpredictable like it can happen at any moment
Oh I wouldn't mind if it didn't have a set timer, it would be kinda fun
Did you just bump one of the if not the most active suggestion post in the server💀
Little bit South of Lesotho in the Eastern Cape would be better in my opinion. There's more regular game species and it does get really cold there. I think that's where most of the photos of stuff like giraffe and rhino in the snow originate from. Lesotho is more of a fly fisherman's destination
Better then bumping a post 4 min after the last message ...
Who was being cheeky and removed their emoji?
I think we should keep this in mind whem bumping posts
Works for me
Me i just wanted see who reacted
You can just hover over it you know?
unless you're on mobile
I'm mobile right now, otherwise i would have done it
👍
Day 580 of waiting for Africa 2.9
Aaaah Mafunyane
Hey, got good news about the poachers today. A cop stopped by and asked me to come identify someone they caught cutting the fence.
I got to press charges for my destroyed fences and trespassing. With the poaching charge too the officer told me they're looking at five years minimum and a fine of 50ish-k
One less poacher
2 less, he ratted out his friend
Honestly disappointed in didn't get a chance to put a couple dozen .223's into his truck tho
Day 581 of waiting for Africa 2.0
I'd choose this any day of the week over the "art" like the bannana taped to a wall or the shredded painting
nah the banana taped to a wall has aura
Yeah, it says
"This artist is a total idiot but he can con you into thinking this is important"
the banana has aura like no other
If we don’t get to hunt elephants i hope at least we can ride them, don’t tell me it’s to complicated because on far cry 4 (a game made 11 years ago) you can do that.
I remember that, loved riding an elephant with a 700 double rifle while hunting tigers or trucks lmfao
Hahaha yeah those were the days
Honestly, the most time I spent on that game was the map creator. I built so many areas just specifically for hunting. I did whole maps with like 1 or 2 animals and went as slow as I could in hunting them
I wish i’d thought of that, game was a good hunting simulator too
I wish there was a hunting game that actually played like that. I built a whole "lodge" area with a little dirt road and hunting camp set up with camp fires and all.
Imagine you built a lodge or camp, made the terrain and picked the vegetation then put selected animals to place randomly and you just choose gear and go figure it out
Sounds like cotw on steroids hahaha, yeah that would be cool ngl
lmao that's awesome
I got my severe issues with poachers but honestly if someone shoots a deer just for food it doesn't bother me as much as people who take the head and leave the rest to waste
Day 582 of waiting for Africa 2.0
In the great words of Hec in Hunt for the Wilderpeople " pretty majestical aye "
by far one of the best ones you've posted yet
Here's your reminder that Leopards will get through ANY obstacle.
Feline version of a weasel then
I got a chicken coop built like Alcatraz and those little monsters are still finding ways to get in
just 23 more upvotes
Great movie
Out of my own curiosity, can you describe your ideal Safari rifle?
Mine is pretty simple. 9.3x62mm. Wood stock. If it had a scope it would be pretty low powered, maybe 2-7. Id want to hunt the widest variety of plains game i could so this seems like the right choice of rifle for my interests. How bout yours?
2-7? Yes i’ll have what you’re having (idk if you were asking me but yeah)
Okapi and ostrich would be cool to
Meant irl but honestly I'd buy a whole weapon pack for a 9.3 lever action
Oh yeah ik you meant irl, i was surprised 2-7 was a thing, that’s a fox to a bear which is insane to me
2-7? 9.3mm is .366 caliber or close to to it. It's basically a lighter recoiling .375 H&H with how versatile it is
What does 2-7 mean then?
The 2-7 is meant as scope magnification
Call me boring but…
Winchester Model 70 Alaskan in .375H&H with a 1-6 or 2-7
Pre-64? Or do you favor the newer models?
No particular preference, pre-64 would be sick though
Fair, tho a pre-64 with all the original parts would be absolutely gorgeous
Hahha thought you meant the classes in-game for real life
No way you've watched it too!
Personally I'd say Sako 90 Bavarian in 9,3x62 or Sako 90 Grizzly in the same calibre with Leupold or Swarovski optic
I'm a fan of carbon stock rifles but using that in Africa feels like a war crime so I had to go with wood
If I'm only taking plainsgame and other stuff no bigger than Eland, Ruger M77 Mk.ii in .30-06 with a Leopold 3-9 scope and 180gr or 220gr loads would be ideal, I absolutely love mine.
If I'm going bigger game or dangerous game, I'd say a CZ 550 in .416 Rigby with a quick detach 1-4 scope with 350gr/400gr loads
I feel basic now for saying it now, but…
The double barrel bolt action rifle or the Westly Richards extended magazine in 416
Nah the WR is just classy af
Bit of a hear me out, but I'd also absolutely love a LUPO in .338 for the bigger plains game and maybe leopards if the guide was okay with it
I know, both are
It’s just every time someone say what’s you go to or dream safari rifle, I keep saying the same guns
The double barrel bolt action rifle, the Westly Richards, the Winchester 1895, and the Ruger no 1 tropical
It’s always one of those
It's not a bad thing to know what you like
Good point
Day 583 of waiting for Africa 2.0
How about ostrich hunting for Africa 2.0? I think that’d be super cool, maybe then they could add emu hunting to Australia as well
never thought of ostrich but ive been wanting emu and cassowary hunting ever since the Emerald Coast came out
Day 584 of waiting for Africa 2.0
Yeah when i think about it’s kinda crazy the story had nothing to do with emu’s since the whole war thing would’ve fit in real well, also about some guys i don’t remember his name but he released rabbits or hares in Australia and their population reached like hundreds of millions. They kinda messed that map up
Alexander Buchanan I think or maybe someone else
Oh no Thomas Austin actually
Oh ok yeah and we still got no feral rabbits
Where are you from?
Oh wait I misread the message mb
Woth just added a double barrel .416 with a stupid name and no scopes
I love this photo
(By the way, that’s easily more than a hundred grand worth of firearms there)
Brb I'm gonna go take out a huge loan
I would gladly go into debt for those
Most men like to spend their money on cars. But I prefer this
Do you think I could buy all of these with my 500 Euros?😁 😂
I don’t know how to tell it to you
Well seeing as though you did say there's easily more than a hundred grands worth of firearms you did not specify what currency SOOO I could give around 52,000,000 LBP btw that's abou 500 euros 😁
Can't beat that
Now I that think about what a crap joke that was lmao
Hypothetical question.
You're on safari, there's no humans within 100 miles and you are completely forgotten by your hunting guide. You have nothing but the clothes on your back, the rifle in your hands, and the gear on your belt. What are your odds of surviving?
Nw
0% for me
Like The Hunting Grounds said probably 0%
@mighty rampart I wanted to ask you since we're talking about survival How did you learn survival skills while being in Africa?
check dm
Yall just gave right up didn't ya?
Well I did want to be confident in what I know but NZ and a few hours alone doesn't help much in Africa
50%
Dang y'all, what do carry that you have so little confidence? I didn't even give a timeline
I'm assuming it's at least 6 days and therefore long enough to run out of water
Well I'll make you a "deal" of some sort tommorow I will go into more detail and explain why but its late for me so I can't write it all
im fat enough food shortages aren't an issue tbh, its mainly just the water
If it's medical that's fine. My issue is why so few people carry basic gear when they want to go out somewhere in the wild. I did Search and Rescue for like 5 years and so many people just ignore basic stuff.
Like a STAINLESS STEEL WATER BOTTLE, that you can boil water in or a water filter. Something to start a fire, at least a little rope or 550 cord.
It's not that hard to pack a few things to keep you safe
I'm quite the opposite I probably pack too much my father was different he always chose to go light I remember I was in a place in Southland in the Mountains and I wanted or did take my 65+L backpack that I had been bought and I didn't get to use it ever actually it was just left in the truck and I took the small 25L pack and honestly in regards to fitness and physical health it probably helped me since I struggled climbing mountains since I didn't engage in much physical labour or exercise. But I wish I could've.
i put my number that low cause of inexperience lol
Also as far as Medical goes I don't know since I rarely visit the doctors due to being uncomfortable in public places and stuff like that mostly posture and certain eating habits but I've been trying to put weight on for something like a year and only just started putting some fat or bulk on last month which isn't much
What would be the African version of this?
I know Africa isn't exactly a state park, but a night or two out should be no issue. Just carry some super basic things. They just rescued a guy near our place who was lost for 2 days and this idiot didn't even have a water bottle
oh it's nearly 100% for me if its just a night or two unless i get unlucky and step on a mamba or something. I thought we were talking about prolonged survival
2%
Wrong thing I replied to
Yeah I can agree with that but I'll probably go with 75-85% just to be safe.
I’m confident I’ll be okay
It mostly depends on where I’ll be. If I’ll be in east cape or Limpopo I should be fine, but if it’s deep in the Congo I’ll probably die(or go insane and wonder around in circles, one of those two)
Impala backstrap with numnum berries and some sour plums
Oooohh
Why would you walk around? That's what every basic survival course advises against
I mean i would be scared for a while but after it goes over it’ll be easier to figure my way around things. Most of what i need would be around me, i suppose i wouldn’t have more than 15 bullets for my rifle, wouldn’t know the odds though.
That’s after I go insane
I've had to track people who wander off like that and it's not easy
WotH's new .416 double rifle.
The Mordecai something something who cares.
Can't use a scope.
big boomstick
Why's it need an inspirational quote engraved on it!?
it has the same vibe as the volley gun that one british officer had where he had gold inlays placed on each side that read "Perdition to conspirators" and "With this alone I shall defend"
Tell me one person stupid enough to go crawling through the scrub with a gold inlayed engraved double barreled rifle? British cough
Oh, and they added the Moradi too. Basically, they chose a handful of stuff cotw did and added it. There's a .224 Valkyrie that's basically a. 22-250 too
alot of people probably assumed a week or the need to reach civilization. tons of people can't handle wilderness survival even without the very hostile environment and wildlife on a safari. dropped in certain forests I'd definitely be good as i understand where to find shelter/food/water but in a rainforest, tundra, desert, safari plains I wouldn't know anything.
Looking at this, .416 was a poor choice here. .416 is better designed for a bolt action rifle and they could have gone 9.3x74r or .458 or something
Another weapon pack?
This one the Mid-Mid and midder pack.
One day we’re gonna get a proper safari weapons pack(or the Roosevelt collection), we just have to keep hoping.
Id genuinely love to know exactly who decides what weapons we get
Day 585 of waiting for Africa 2.0
If this pack is prep for another small game map then
PLEASE.LET IT BE AFRICA WITH THE TINY TEN
Or, even better, A proper African map with a few small antelopes and a dozen or so plains game plus leopards
Springhares would be a great class 1
My dad hunted one on his second safari
Day 586 of waiting for Africa 2.0
.416 bolt action, please upvote so we make sure they get the idea
Greater Kudu, not that lesser bs. Also sable would be cool, and vervet monkey for the .22
Blesbok also
Would love to see that
Look at this beauty, a M70 Safari Express with a little custom work
Possible 500. Jeffery for rhinos or elephants
Day 587 of waiting for Africa 2.0
My old man is out in the Kruger Park for the next 2 and a half days, sent me this....can barely see him
Let’s see if anyone else can find it
Big kitty
Soon as I get full screen tho yeah it's wraps for him
I found it quick quickly but very good camoflague no doubt
Turn kitty into a rug
Kinda of a young cat isn't it? His head doesn't look blocky enough to be an old male. Or maybe its a female? Still looks young but I'm judging off cougars I see out here
Ja I think it's either a young Tom or a female. The head of a big tom is usually much bigger and more blocky. There's quite a few leopard in that area. There a couple from Florida at the same camp and apparently they saw 4 different leopard and 2 of them were cubs playing
Little jealous I couldn't see that but it's fine I went fishing and didn't get skunked so I'm happy
Id guess a young ish female, maybe a year and half? Her head is fairly narrow but her ears stand out pretty well
Hooboy that's a big tom, he got a head like a cinder block and a beer belly like a keg
Imagine whacking through the bush in Africa with a rifle and that giant jumps out at you
I dream of a big tom leopard like that
A nice rug 🤤
Nah, a big leopard like that needs a full body mount
Don’t get me wrong Rugs are great and I definitely would want one,but a leopard like that doesn’t deserve to be spread out on the floor, he needs a special place on the wall
Oh i need it
What makes me really sad is if they added leopards to the game they would make the mounts like this
And that’s just wrong
Nah that's the best, I want thats better. new trophy lodge mount
Id want one of him pouncing on an equally big impala ram or maybe a sable. That is an absolute beast and should be memorialized as such.
Also, reading my comment makes me wonder what the guides would think of excessively southern accent
I also love the jumping at you pose too, but the multi-mount is great
Well, Knowing that their main clients are Americans, and knowing that southerners in particular like hunting. It’s not to far of a stretch that they’re fairly used to it
My wife said it took her two years to understand me and my neighbor from Germany practically wrote a dictionary to make sense of it
Wife suddenly asked what I'd do with 50 million dollars.
Give a 10 million "donation" to EW to make a very specific weapon pack and make it free
The Roosevelt collection? The western redemption pack? Dagga boy blasters?
Or that new one you made?
Probably include it, there'd be like 9 or 12 weapons ideally
Lots of lever actions
Although the underdog a possible rifle to be added to the game when an Africa map comes to the game is a 500 Jeffery, I feel it will be a fine gun to use on the big 5. The models shown below are a cz 550
Or a 405 WCF

15 away from 2000
My dad is really enjoying sending me videos of his trip
He's also recording suspiciously well compared to normal
Day 588 of waiting for Africa 2,0
Allright Jock lodge definitely seems like the place to be in the Kruger
Time to go on a rug hunt
We need rugs and skulls for the lodges
