#AFRICA BIG FIVE (Africa 2.0 + Class 10 Weapons) šæš¼šæš¦
1 messages Ā· Page 8 of 1
Nice
Scrub like that looks like murder to stalk in but it also looks weirdly similar to places I've hunted in the US.
Couldn't get away with solo hunts here tho lol
I see a crocā¦thereās undoubtedly more that I canāt see
This one was me yesterday morning
I was thinking that exact thingš¤£
Whatās the story behind this?
Old lion kill, I thought it would look nice in my wall
It would look very cool on a wall.
Another cool idea would be putting the horns on a stand(like elephant tusks but kudu horns). Or you can mount them on a wall as a lamp. Just throwing out ideas
Dude, no, you know what that single one looks like. You have too.
Why not do a cap mount with it if the skull is in bad shape
i got chased by one on foot when i was 14 š
Wow That is a traumatized experience for sure
I cannot think of a worse idea than chasing a lion or rhino horseback
I can think of a few things
Ok yeah that's worse lol
Got questions about the "cowboy" . . . Also, is that Roosevelt?
Cowboys going on safari happened a lot, and yes thatās TR. John Seerey Lester has done quite a few TR paintings
Oh not the "why was he there?"
More like "why are you wearing a shirt the same color as MEAT in lion territory?!"
Lotta poor choices in these paintings if you ask me. . .
Thatās what makes this such fun paintings
Y'all, I gotta be offline for a few days so when I come back I'd be real happy to see 1250, I know we can do that much,
We just gotta keep eyes on this
100%
If nothing else, your job will make some cool stories someday for the kids/grandkids. Refreshingly different
I hope so!
I'm super late to this, but I'm pretty sure model size doesn't contribute to lag. It's the tri/poly count and texture resolution that has performance impacts, and afaik those remain unchanged regardless of the mesh size
There could be more to it that I'm missing, but afaik it's not based on size
Looking for hippo variations
Like the leucistic hippopotamus
The same thing happens with elephants (however I didn't find any adults).
Looks Awsome
I was looking for hippos, I'm into zebras. So if you put the zebras, I present to you the golden zebra, the albino (it's all red), with dots and another without really having any stripes.
last one looks like a Quagga
yes that's it, In South Africa, scientists have revived the creature.
They used plains zebras less striped than the others, it can be a perfect for a very rare skin color.
I don't remember if it was mentioned in this forum already (and there's a lot of messages to scroll through), but I think including the Nile Crocodile would be awesome
The team has improved dramatically at crocodilian models (look at the difference between their American Alligator and Saltwater Crocodile), and I feel like they could nail a nile croc
though it depends on where in Africa this takes place ofc (again can't remember and it's too far to scroll)
from my memories yes don't worry there is the Nile crocodile, and it seems to me I don't know if he or someone else wanted to put it also on Vurhonga Savanna if I remember correctly
It would be awesome for Vurhonga as well, since there's that entire river section up to the north
especially since the river is posted with signs that say "Caution: Crocodiles"
we got the warning but never recieved our African river lizards š
These look Awsome
If you want I can do different animals because I love putting photos of magnificent animals. But for now I'm going to rest because it's late and I don't remember the many animals on this map.
Saw this and had to show ya'll
I want all of them!
They look amazing
Wow thatās quite a lot of dung
If they work like normal matches then why not
Not matches, firelighters
My bad, mistook the word š
š«£š«”
We are getting close to that 250 mark!
Slowly but surely
I hears somewhere that the way to know if the dung is an elephant's or rhino's is to see the pattern in which it is placed. Like elephants' are usually scattered but rhinos usually choose a "toilet"-like spot and keep returning to the same spot.
Thereās a slight size difference, rhino dung is also really dark
Almost 1200. Woah. I've only been gone a couple of months. 2k by the new year, surely.
Anyway, hi everyone. š š
Howdy Zen! Itās been awhile
Indeed! I'll see you on stream later? I'm hoping for some fun reveals or clues. LOL
Hopefully
Welcome back
I must say, It would be so cool to hunt a leopard with the new scope.
Holy
1200!!! Let's go!
Do you think we have a good chance at EW accepting our idea?
They definitely should. Not investing into Africa 2.0 is like admitting that theyāre allergic to money.
1201 upvotes as of 5:31 PM USMDT
Hereās how I think they will do Africa 2
I think they will give us everything we want so it is hard for everyone not to buy it so then that gives them the money to produce the next game in the hunter series while in the mean time they tide us over with lower quality releases like weapon and gear packs
So I think we have a while to wait sadly but I think that have moved to quality over quantity so maybe the next few releases will be good I think it will go something like
Amazon
Canada
Texas or Florida game ranch
Africa 2
Lower quality European map
Next the hunter release
These are 1 a year btw bc I think they have switched to that
Extremely, Africa 2 will come. It just depends on what species are included
I think the implementation of snow leopards and tigers opened a lot of doors for more controversial species like elephants or leopards
Hey all just doing a little check in seeing how you all are doing very nice to see that the post has reached 1202 upvotes keep up the good job!
None of these are controversial outside in the real world, itās a small minority of guys who donāt know the rules around hunting in Africa and then throw bs into the chats here thinking that itās gospel
I think they could do at least 2 more reserves in Africa so ... Africa 3.0 is where I hope we are headed .... After 2.0 of course š
This is the type of thinking Iām backing around hereš
Also if the devs need a technical consultant @mighty rampart would get my vote ....
It would be annoying if they do not add the stuff the community wants in here I feel there will be a uproar I mean there is a lot of work such as map planning done here it needs to be done
Like a community Map would go wild we need it
Nocturnal Vision should only affect the interior sight, not the scope or the exterior.
Do you know anything about the news that many elephants are going to be culled in Zimbabwe due to the severe drought? I say this because Zimbabwean authorities have set out plans to cull 200 elephants to feed communities facing acute hunger amid the worst drought in four decades. Source: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/sep/17/zimbabwe-to-cull-200-elephants-to-feed-people-facing-hunger-due-to-drought
No doubt ... Big Five Africa map will be done ... Or maybe done using 2 African reserves 2.0 and 3.0 .... But this thread is just an outline and the devs will have to fill in the details .....
Agreed
The guardian is a rag of a newspaper, full of kak individuals.
Thatās aside yes these culls happen a lot. Mainly due to elephant overpopulation than famine. They are extremely destructive creates and destroy hundreds of trees. You can tell if a reserve has elephants just by looking at the bush there.
Exactly.
People who want all animals in the game: "take my money"
People who find controversy and complain: 10 internet random guys who won't buy 𤣠š¤£
Pretty easy to understand who a studio would prioritize
That is a interesting pfp you got there to say the least š
Exactly, sadly discord attracts chronically online individuals
They can kan kwaad en kwaad wees in hul ma se kelders
How is this an issue? Deals with overpopulation of an absolute resource destroyer, feeds people, cuts back on negative human interactions. This is a good plan.
Also, found a meerkat plushie, ended up costing me almost 40$.
That looks like a Giant Pandas head on a Meerkats body
I just wanted to comment on the news, as it relates to the country of Zimbabwe and this post. I didnāt say itās a problem. I only shared the news. I agree with your opinion.
Africa 2.0 better have impalas.
Letās keep all
Of this out of my thread please
They are practically farm animals. There is a market for these rare animals in Africa.
Yeah I recognized the skull and cross bones but this is not the most appropriate conversation for this
I certainly agree Africa simply isn't Africa without some Impala
Yeah sorry about that Wellington I'll be deleting them
How have you been?
Seen the new Scope pack that's coming?
And? Impala are still a wild species and even if the pics are of farm raised animals it does not mean they wouldn't occur in wild populations.
@mighty rampart can we get your opinion on this?
Yes, but What they do is increase proportionally the number of these rare animals in relation to natural animals, like they are found in reserves. Natural selection would exterminate these rare animals. This threatens the genetic diversity of wild animals; it is a complex and profound issue.
Again, that makes no difference. These color morphs are no different from any other impala physically and literally every antelope species has similar varieties of coat coloration. They would have as much chance as any springboks or gazelle with the same coat colors
Yes, these were taken at a game farm. But it's not as if it's a totally man made thing. They can occur naturally in wild populations regardless of human interference.
It could be a very rare variant called ādomesticā or something
You won't find this photo of four rare impalas together in the wild, unless they are from game reserves.
Aren't hunting farms the same as game reserves?
Did I say anything about the rarity? Did I say anything about the grouping? No. I posted some pictures of unique looking impala and said I hope they are in the map.
What's the point you are trying to make here? Do you not want impala on Africa 2.0? Do you think these coat colorations could even possibly exist outside a game farm?
No, hunting farms feed and often hand rear their stock while also having specific breeding pedigrees. Game reserves are basically demarcated tracts of land where wild animals exist and live of their own ability.
Grouping like this should actually be expected if the genes for color mutations are carried by one or more dominant mating bucks as well as few does in the region (which is necessary for recessive alleles to be represented physiologically in the first place), as some portion of their offspring will exhibit those traits and congregate around one another.
This is especially true for the does, since they often stay with their natal (place of birth) herds, meaning sisters/aunts/nieces end up forming a significant portion of the herd.
So there can't possibly be a wild animal with this coat color? It all has to be done with selective breeding and constant curation by humans who carefully select the particular features they want the animal to possess?
Impala are not domestic animals
I didnāt mean that it was just a concept game play wise
Why? No other animal in the game has a designation like that.
Can't be in Africa without the Chevy
I was just saying it could be a rare variant of the impala if it where to be added
but there's no domestic impala, they're purely wild animals that bolt when they see people or start kicking and goring if cornered.
Why can't we just say G1 impala with these fur types
Thatās true I used the wrong word my bad I did not mean to cause confusion
It depends. Most game farms are huge and run by people with good ethics. But then there is the occasional can farm where your hunting on someoneās yard, those I donāt like
Speaking of, have y'all heard about the exotic animals just showing up on some dudes property here in Texas? Apparently, there's nilgai and I think kudu + a whole bunch of other animals
Impala would almost certainly never be a GO, it's an extremely common animal competing with greater kudu, nyala, elands, sable and a myriad of other way more sought after animals. Impala are the white bread of plains game
Well, sometimes white bread just needs a little something to help it stand out above the rest
On a map with, let's say G Kudu, do you really want the GO to be an impala?
Well, no, but that's just the point. Impala would get overlooked for these better animals. But with their own G1, impala would get much more attention
Another way to look at this. Sundarpatan.
On a map with tigers, the GO was a hairy goat. From what I saw, there was not a lot of positive feedback for that choice
But what DID tigers get, loads of rare fur types. And of course people would want a G1 tiger, tigers are cool. If it wasn't for the G1, tahr probably wouldn't be a very popular animal
Nyala, Sable, and greater eland iirc
I guess the real question would be, "which animal would be best for its own G1?" How would a G1 for each animal look, how many varieties of fur or horns could it have for a G1? How different would each look from a diamond?
Not to advertise but https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1278571704838520904
My choice would be eland, they don't exactly follow perfectly natural looks anyway
With such a highly anticipated map, you can't just look at the animal you like the most and say it's the one. You gotta look at which animal you SHOULD give a G1. Which one can you take further than a diamond? Which one should have a more extreme version?
Which is why I vote for elephant as G1
Which is why I voted eland.
Largest antelope in the world, very rarely preyed on by even lions, would be the largest GO in game, already a tough and elusive animal. The horns are also unique. I do not see a reason why eland would be a bad choice
Could see that, also leopard or eve hippo tbh
Each of The dangerous 7 would work for a G1
I love the idea of an absolute tank of a GO that is incredibly hard to grind
My bad, wrong server
What do the odd lions prey on? But seriously, the problem is how cool they already are. With a G1, it takes away the fact they're already a very cool animal. I mean, looking at the already existing G1s, they're fairly mundane animals. So it would be best to give an animal that is far more common in appearance its own G1. The other animals would keep their popularity beƧause of how crazy they look, while the G1 animal would gain popularity
Also thought of that, eland are very similar to a bovine species, which we do not have a current GO for. Aside from that, it would be the largest GO in the game as far as size and weight go. We have deer, and goats, even a bear GO. Still no bovine size species tho
Eland as a GO would be setting a precedent for, eventually, a bison or buffalo type of animal or a rework of an existing species. Aside from all this, eland horns don't have as much variation as some species would. If there's no GO eventually it'll be just as ignored as euro bison.
Well, we've already gotten G1s for already existing species before, and I'd much prefer a water buffalo G1 before any other bovine
Iām really liking the idea of G1ās for all of the dangerous 7
I havenāt found anything for leopard or rhino yet
Hold up.
Let's go the opposite direction for a minute and consider a GO small game animal like a duiker or grysbok. It would easily be the least impressive and most common to get GO but I wold bet it would cause an immense impact. Making small game calibers more desirable and addi g diversity, it could even come alongside a larger GO
I can see it now. Scarcrow grinding for the Tiny One
Joke if you must good Sir, but small game shall have it's day!
I can only read that in the most posh English accent
As intended my boyš§
All shape my end, excited for the scope pack!
Iāve never seen impala that are domesticated or farmed in that sense, i my wild oneās. Thereās thousands of them.
King leopards for G1s, they posed darker coats.
As for rhinos, just make it a big one with massive horns and it should be sharp
This was on deviant art of all places, would this be a good lineup of coats as a rare/GO variation?
Late congrats on 1200 upvotes š
For me, I would be happy with these impala rarities in COTW as well as impalas existing in the future.
5 would be cool if they added it to the game
I can see those being great ones
Iām really liking 1 and 4
5 š„
6š„š„š„
Yeah, honestly 5 and 4 are the most interesting to me. It's kinda wild
Deviant Art has some crazy stuff. These are just old posts
A G1 leopard should also have a bigger size to it
A huge old Tom for sure
That third picture I really like
Honestly, we could really do with a second predator go. Bears are okay but not really my thing
We definitely do need another GO with the non-antler badge
I think they got a lot of experience and feedback on Tahr, so let's hope the future will be even brighter than ever before for GOs š„
Should a G1 croc just be stupidly big or should it also have fun colors to it?
Lame the other two pictures didnāt show
Goddayum
So definitely stupid big for a G1
Floor mount size; XXXL
Itās definitely going to happen when they add elephants and such
What should a G1 hippo look like?
Here are some huge ones Iāve found
I just found something very interesting. Spotted lions
I really hope that if they add hippos that the feed zones wil be at night.I still remember how cool it was to see them eat at night in the kruger.
Evening to night definitely.
Getting a land hippo would be so cool
This is a big madala
Think the cubs are born spotted, but these fade over time due to the sun.
Might be that lions kept in zoos in the northern hemisphere retain them for longer due to the weather
Probably, itās definitely interesting though
ngl, both
I was really hoping for peafowl and by extension a peafowl G1 on sundarpatan š Iām all for small G1s as long as they arenāt extreme. Though Iām unsure about that specific animal personally
Canāt wait for the day weāre using the new night vision scope (something Iāve been waiting for due to the lack of zoom on the current one) on animals in a new Africa map :]
If that's the case, then lions in heavily forested areas might have a small chance at retaining their spots too. Could be an extremely interesting little quirk
Looking at the pictures again though they definitely have a genetic difference to regular ones. The spots are never that prominent, even when they are cubs
Interesting, maybe a recessive gene? Could have something to do with a mutation as well I suppose. So that makes me curious, is this something that can happen with lions in general or does it have to do with specific bloodlines in a single area?
Before anyone starts yapping, No I do not think these lions cross bred with leopards
Not entirely sure, Iām no genetics expert by a long stretch. But for sure itās a old style gene thatās been activated.
You see similar things with some elephants having a bit more hair than others.
Some bloodlines will be more likely to have the trait for sure.
Iām sure 10,000 years ago a lot do these animals would have looked very different. Particularly when we look at existing specimens of ancient lions and cave tigers etc etc
Does the pelt look like it came from a fairly young male or is that just me? I wanna say it's not quite full grown but I'm really not sure
https://www.lionlandscapes.org/lion-range
@patent agate the female is defiantly younger, the male Iām not so sure, heās not old but not young.
Both are showing unusual levels of spotting/roses.
You see similar old genetics occasionally with Leopards and cheetahs. Itās called āking leopards/cheetah. Think at one point they had patterns more akin to stripes than spots/roses.
Interesting read, I'll have to dig more when I have time.
Well those are absolutely gorgeous
It actually might have something to do with the terrain they adapted to hunt in as well, jaguars have a dappled pattern of rosets that blend them into the spotty lighting of the jungle but tigers who spend their time in long grass areas are striped.
Maybe this is extremely old genetics that sometimes bounce back due to mutation or latent genes becoming somewhat active?
Oh yeah, what do you guys think of the scope changes? I'm happy I think but I kinda wish we'd gotten a 3-7 scope for rifles too
Iāve done some digging on spotted lions so hereās what Iāve read
Basically thereās two leading theories to look at. The first one is that they were normal lions that just kept their spots from infancy into Adulthood. The second one is a bit more interesting but dips its toes into cryptozoology. It could be an unidentified subspecies of lion that lived/lives in the mountains of Kenya(think mountain bongo), the name is Marozi lions
This is starting to sound like the documentary on white lions I saw a few years ago.
Iirc they were due to inbreeding with the handlers trying to say it was a separate species or something.
Though I do have to admit, if they come from a specific area it sounds like a genetic trait that has been handed down. If the area is also heavily forested (or at least used to be) it would make more sense for a survival aspect since it would be better camouflage
Well Iāve fallen down a new rabbit hole.
We tend to do that a lot here. . .
That is most definitely true
Painfully true
I know what you mean, just went off on a tangent for a new weapon pack idea while I was reading about big cat mutations
So, leopards are cool af
I think red spotted are maybe my favorite, strawberry leopards
As are cheetahs
What type of genetic mutation causes red fur?
Not sure, haven't found much information on it. The info with that particular picture was that they knew for certain it was genetic and not due to aged taxidermy
It may be erythrism
Could be, but they didn't have a clear idea why it was so red. Apparently some scientists argued it was a different species as well
Oh interesting I did some research there Needs to be erythristic animals in this game
Tends to be a theme, a Pic pops up on here and suddenly you're down a rabbithole for days trying to learn about some new critter or other.
Fr and I wanted to apologize for starting the confusion about the impala yesterday I worded that message horribly
Nah, no big deal. Tbh I was already annoyed and shouldn't have let myself get pis*ed off so easy
Itās Erythrism. It can affect Coyotes, Raccoons, and there was even a report of a Moose in Alaska with Erythrism.
Oh okay thanks for clearing it up Mr Schrader š
That third picture is the real life pink panther š
"Truth is stranger than fiction"
100%
I forgot how good guinea fowl tasted, I roasted one the other day and I miss having them.
One of my buddyās had a big flock of them and they got so many noise complaints about them they had to shoot em all
Oh they are loud af but they taste really good tho
Itās the small things that indicate our impact on the community. Never seen that many SA emotes over the last year.
They're on almost every post too, all the news and update stuff have at least 5 or 6
Although I agree on the intention of this thread, at the end of the day, EW will do whatever it wants to do as far as what it releases, regardless of what their fan base wants.... I want to see the hands of all of those that voted for the NEPAL MAP versus the Africa 2.0 ?????,...............uhm, I am waiting!!.. The Africa 2.0 map has been requested since the beginning of time. The same thing happenned with the Australia Map,. It was requested since a longgggg time ago and then recently we received it.... Playing this game since Feb, 2017 with 13,000 hours of game time here ( Is the only game I play ), I dont give suggestions any longer, like I said, at the end of the day, EW does whatever it wants to do.
I was one of the people who posted a suggestion thread for a reserve set in Nepal (there was a couple made by different people)
Thats fine but you guys are the " minority" of that request
cracks knuckles
Have you come here to be a negative killjoy out of spite or are you really that bored?
EW have acknowledged that this post is doing very well multiple times. jaxi has said multiple times on stream that people really want this one, it come up in conversation on pretty much every broadcast.
You have no idea what the intention of this post was, the intention was to create noise for a second Africa map. As the community manager said in February that we were not making enough.
This suggestion is younger than the Nepal one by some time. I created this post back in February/march. The largest Africa 2 post before this was sitting at around 230
We have made noise and achieved our āintention by being the most popular map suggestion in the space of 9 months.
I donāt know what you personal gripe is, but based on what you have said, compared to what is,
These points are null, and have no real standing.
And no weāre not stupid Mr 13,000 hours, we know that the company does what it wants to, hence why these are suggestionsā¦
Donāt get caught up in your own press I would add that you wasting 541 days, nearly two years of your LIFE on this game, doesnāt make you words reality. Itās something you shouldnāt be remotely proud of.
Touch š±
That negative chap aside- happy to once again say that we have a strong community, that has grown on this thread.
I think Nepal was the right step for the developers and the game as a whole and it was sort of an experiment/half-step. If they want to do something ambitious like Africa 2.0, you know they want to do it correctly and nail it on the first try. On surface, Sundarpatan looks like another map, but when you look into it you see-
- New animal behaviour (Possible AI improvements on future animals)
- Endangered species included as huntable
- Limited amount of some animals on a reserve
- Concept of a GO with no drink zones
- Dynamic weather depending on player's position
Exactly, Nepal has opened the gates to make the whole Africa 2 species list now possible
Nepal feels like testing the ice, looking for reactions as much as creating a new map. Between everything they did that was truthfully new and the stuff they just fell back on it seems like this was a sort of first step.
Like they recognized we were more open to not necessarily 1:1 realism and changed a few things to see how much smoke they'd get. I do think we'll have to wait another year or maybe 2 for Africa 2.0 but I'm almost expecting a bunch of changes between now and then
I think Africa 2 was being talked about before varhinga was out
Yes so I donāt think they had Africa 2 in production then but I think itās hopefully in planning right now
Mr Wellington......You like the rest that keep on regurgitating what could , what should , the ifs and the buts , I leave that up to you and yours...You like the rest of those individuals that are at the mercy of EW and get elated when they stend out their hands from you to feed from, I leave you at that, and yes, I have 13,000 hours of experience of playing this game of knowning what needs, should have it included and tell me " who " is wasting time here. Its laughable !!.. LOL.. So in conclusion I will leave this post and leave you with your begging , and scroundling of EW to make you an Africa 2.0 by your continous begging and posting 5 million threats here so you can feel that EW is listenning to you!!.. LOL
it's nicer when you're quiet
Good grief
Did you even read the messages that were sent below your's?
@wooden peak you've been in discord 3 months. I'm just gonna go ahead and say you are just grandstanding and trying to take the high ground in a swamp. Yes we are here making noise and conversations about Africa 2.0 but the devs themselves have continously told us this is exactly what they want to see. No one is making threats against EW or their staff and we've all been working together on this for longer than you have been in the discord.
If this is all you can contribute why are you even in the thread? Why come here and annoy people? You are the problem. Seek help.
As we have said before - and this goes for everyone ... in like every thread:
- if you do not agree or cannot be civil - just block one another and move on.
- Open forum means you do not get to dictate that people cannot come in and voice opinions. You don't have to get along or accept their opinions - but they do have the right to give them. Take that chance to keep it kosher and either rebutt their stance/point with civility... or block/ignore and don't deal with them. Surprising the amount of steam that people run out of when they yell into a room that does not listen.
- Lets also avoid dogpiling or pushing people to leave - that's just a sour taste in the mouth of people who are new to the community who might see older members acting like this. Can easily prevent them from taking part if they see people get bashed on.
- If you have an issue, and its not resolving, send a DM to the @limpid nebula bot with photo evidence in the message. Mods are here to handle disputes etc.
-# Give us more Africa 2.0 ideas in the meantime. Party on
Most people don't come to the thread just to annoy people either
Thats the beauty of the block button.
Let'em be loud and whinge all they want about stuff. ....to themselves.
Fair
Hey folks, had a thought just now figured I'd ask here.
Lots of us here really like old school rifles so I was wondering if you guys like old scopes as well? Just like rifles have so many different designs from back in the day, scopes were different too.
Would you like a fixed, old style scope or would you rather have just a skin for the variable scopes already in game? One that matches the rifles it would be applied too
You need studying, can tell your the sort of guy who can rock up 13,000 hours on a video game. At least I have a life outside of COTW doing proper meaningful work.
Accusing people of making 5 million threats? Not even sure hot to respond to that Kak
We donāt want unpleasant individuals on this thread. Come here to cause problems and stir trouble. Leave us in peace or contribute properly.
And youāve heavily edited your initial message in a desperate attempt to make it seem more reasonable?
You never said you understood itās intention in your initial message.
Pathetic mentality Iāll individual, you made a fake account to try and cause problems in our server, Iām well aware as to who you are. Pathetic individual with no bollocks.
Not even 3 months he joined 3 days ago on the 18th, and heās only commented on this post out of every channel on the server. think itās a throwaway account. Probably 2Blave or another name that comes to mind heās the only guy that has an issue with this thread that Iāve met.
Regardless letās carry on an move past whoever comes here to pour cold water on our idea and community!
Yeah, definitely ignorable
Anyway, do you see many gazelle on patrol? I just realized I don't think we've seen them a lot in this thread
Predominantly impala, never seen a springbok, but I have a skin of one on my living room floor. š¦
Interesting, I'd have thought you'd see springboks in similar numbers but I do see way more impala hunting than sprngbok or gazelle of some kind. Kind of a shame, I love Grant's Gazelle
Lets leave it in the past
Think theyāre more common in the centeral part of the country. Not fully sure.
I think, just as light plains game, impala and hartebeest/blesbok would be my favorite animals in Africa. I'd love either but I'd be ecstatic for both
Have we talked about bosbok before?
You havenāt seen a springbok?
Never, and I really donāt know how.š«£
Consider me flabbergasted
Haha, seen literally everything else but them
I feel like bosbok have been mentioned but I can't really remember much about it
At this point weāve mentioned just about everything from Africa thatās wildlife related. Somewhere up the line weāve talked about the nine different bushbucks
I canāt really recall that far!
- Written by AI
- Touch grass you nerd
- All of your claims of superiority are clearly false
OKAY SO
WHEN I SAID. LET IT BE. BLOCK THOSE YOU DISAGREE WITH
I DID NOT MEAN CONTINUE ON.
Letās move past it, ask @untold maple about some Bosbuk
What about African earthworms?
Bosbok, interesting creature because of the pelt. What were you thinking about them @mighty rampart ?
Frecklebabies. Could make some interesting looking variations š
Beautiful creatures.
As tyk just wrote the little white freckles make these guys unique and look Awsome
Sorry, I hadn't scrolled that far down yet.
how dare you not scroll all the way /s
It looks a lot like a nyala, but I get the feeling this one would be smaller and more prone to hanging out in thick woods/light jungle
Nyala are a bit more shaggy and have orange socks š
But yes the females are very similar
When I was in Africa, I asked my PH what the most dangerous plains game animal was, and he said Bushbuck
Oi drop it
We have that was from earlier
We did
Same family tree, their related to kudu, nyala, and eland
Yeah those guys will murr you. They messed up a few of our dogs in the past.
OK, hold on I just found a whole guide for farming bush buck. Is this a repopulation effort or something weird?
"It is found in a wide range of habitats, such as rain forests, montane forests, forest-savanna mosaic, savanna, bushveld, and woodland." according to wiki
Maybe for game meats. Iāve not heard of any farms specialising in them.
Game farming. Mostly about selling genetics at auction
also population is considered least concern - so re: farming probs as Wellington said
I'm not entirely opposed to raising game or meat. But I kinda feel weird about farming them for trophies
Well in this case itās not about selling a trophy animal. Itās more about selling the father of a trophy animal
I believe in that case the animal gets sent to a ranch I donāt really mind, African Hunting Ranches are usually massive and free range.
Thatās a different kettle of fish. Itās alright as long as itās not canned hunting, which only really happens for predators. But I do get what you mean.
Love how we can turn a bad situation into some fresh energy for the Africa 2 community!
Planning on going back out into the bush soon, Iāll get you guys some lekker videos.
There's a place 3 hours from my house raising bosbok. Texas is a weird place
Would like to see them doing similar stuff back in the uk.
Ooooo
@mighty rampart is going on a night portal
I just gotta know.. What does Lekker mean - because I'm telling myself its similar to the German word
Iām not! (Luckily) still here!
@quasi peak it means āniceā
oh right on. German lecker means "delicious" (but I guess contextually could maybe be used to explain "delicious content")
I could drive there today and get a whole carcass for about 600$ apparently.
I wanna be clear, if the animal is bought to breed on a 1000 acre ranch I'm okay with it, but if it's literally let out of a cage 5 minutes before the "hunter" gets there, then I hope "hunter" shoots himself in both feet
Good to more rhinos
100% thatās not hunting.
I disagree with vehicle hunting as well, pretty skilless. Animals are used to vehicles, you can get extremely close in one.
If your not tracking the thing on foot itās unsporting and cheap.
I agree with youā¦but with some exceptions. Like if a client has an injury or disability, then I feel itās okay. But everyone else should stalk on foot
I only saw one vehicle hunt that I didn't despise. It's a pair of guys who live close to me but go down to the desert side of Wyo to hunt pronghorn.
They have a van rigged for offroad work that they drive through the area and try to spot animals. They stalk in from 500 plus yards usually and then bring the van over to pick up the animal. They rigged a makeshift cooler in the back to cool the carcass faster
I can see that 100%
Use the vehicle donāt abuse the vehicle(for hunting), I like that
They're more interested in the meat than the trophy, but they usually give me the hides for leather
Bushbuck are interesting little antelope
Awsome little dudes
Interesting. Also, blesbok are not as big I thought. They're not much larger than a whitetail deer
Workin on it @mighty rampart š„
From experience, yeah theyāre really not that big. The pictures lie to you until you actually see one
I'd say class 5 more than 6,
Iād say 4/5, definitely not class 6.
Yeah, a big 4 or a 5 for sure
Does anyone have a link to the top š its like a million messages to scroll up, or if there even is a species list
it's pinned, second message
thanks
Already looks amazing dude!
So, diamond/GO/mission elephant with scars from fighting other bulls
Thoughts?
Definitely great one
Man looks
A: concerned about touching the skull
B: like he's doing his best to stay far away from it
C: constipated af
You cannot change my mind

Knowing that this was Sudan in the 1919ā¦itās most likely C
First concept for a logo
Replace the question mark with a 4 and I'll give you 50 bucks
Wondered about a themed outfit and found this. Looks fine but man's never touched a rifle before in his life. Also, synthetic stock? C'mon now, even a prop rifle should be wood stocked if you do a "historical themed" photo shoot
Looking at it now, hate how much it looks like the .270 Huntsman
Wow, this beyond cool!
First the map and now this, looks incredible. Seriously impressed dude!
202 BC?
I'm almost 100% positive this map is coming in June 2027
that looks sweet
I'm working on something š
uh oh.... he abt to cook something UP!!!!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, let your imagination loose
I feel like the I donāt need it sponge Bob meme about Africa 2.0 the most requested map but not a single hint of its creation it is understandable but I am still growing weary of it not being addressed officially
The biggest hint/tease they can make is to release a new trophy lodge DLC with some gigantic stands and placks that for some reason current class 9 species look small on š
Oh please let that happen š
Wow, that looks awesome.
.500 NE over/under, reward for taking down 100 GO elephants as a community
That would be nice
Btw, here's the logo with transparent background
By chance have yall discussed hyena as a possible species to hunt?
Somewhere in here, I think we settled on class 5(?)making the most sense for spotted hyena. Has been a while tho
EW could make merch outta this, pop this logo on a black ball cap and I'd buy it.
Yeah but they could be higher considering they have a greater bite force than wolves iirc so therefore more damage
Like I said, been a while. I think we were kinda wavering between 5 and 6. I'm up for either tbh but don't they usually run in smaller groups than wolves?
Wolves have 6 or 7 per pack and a hyena clan has 8 to 130 members
All I know is I want them to circle the player in the Savanna like wolves do on Medved
I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm still stunlocked after finding out how big blesbok really are yesterday, you need somebody with a functional brain to talk about hyenas with
Fair enough
Every picture on google makes them look like theyāre the size of a heartabeest or something.
Oh yeah. Weāve talked about spotted, brown, striped, Aardwolf, class, if females should be the trophy animals
See, you found someone with a brain
Evidence A, looks very large and makes you think it would be on the same level as wildebeest or something
Evidence B, proof that they are not so large. Or of giants. Hard to tell.
Then they added the bengal tiger for you to hunt, which is endangered.
100%
Better the "African Savanna Elephant." Don't forget the "African Forest Elephant"; I also want this in COTW in the future.
The people might confuse the Blesbok with the Bontebok.
This must be avoided at all costs if they want this animal, called a bushbuck, to return to its natural habitat. Zero human contact.
Just wait for the new hunting game dropping next year. At launch you can hunt big game. Exciting stuff. Canāt wait.
It's not so much a repopultion effort as much as improving genetics and raising zoo animals. The bushbuck population is fine tho
200
That was months before Sundarpatanā¦.
??? Either one would be interesting but I don't see a reason to have both unless they'd be on separate maps. I was more or less talking about the size of the animal more than saying we needed one
Honestly, impala would be my go to plains game but it's class 4 so I'd like to see blesbok or bontebuck class 5 for a little more variety
The subspecies Bontebok (Damaliscus pygargus pygargus) and Blesbok (D. p. phillipsi) are endemic antelope of South Africa. Blesbok: there are two variants (White Blesbok and Yellow Blesbok) and those variants have been bred by South African game farmers for commercial purposes. The descendents of cross-breeds of variants with common are fertile an they are thus regarded as a risk for the genetic integrity of both blesbok and bontebok. The Bontebok Population is approximately 4000 and the risk is the interbreeding with blesbok on private land white Blesbok population is 250.000.
I know, I was just commenting on this species. I prefer both subspecies on a single map of South Africa. I agree with the idea of class. This would be the Southern Impala. The horns of the Eastern Impala subspecies are longer than those of the other two subspecies (Southern and Black African).
Even more endangered than the African Elephants that we so desire. Heck, the African Forest Elephant is less endangered despite being labeled as ācritically endangeredā.
If they do elephants they should also do Rhino
Agreed. Elephants, White Rhinos, Hippos, Crocodiles, and Giraffes. All are animals I want.
I think white rhino are extinct iirc
No
Just near threatened
In north/east africa.
Oof
Southern Africa they are doing relatively well.
Yeah the Northern White Rhino just recently went extinct but the Southern White Rhino is doing really well in the wild. Black Rhinos are doing pretty well in Namibia but theyāre struggling elsewhere
would you like me to draw some stuff š
Can you make the face logos for Rhinos or Hippos? I'll make the spotting screen
WE NEED FUR DRAWING OF THE CREATURES
So, just remembered this could be a thing. This bow is made from gemsbok horns, literally just two horns on each end of a wooden riser/handle.
80 pound draw weight in most cases.
Now, imagine you end up with this as a mission reward. Maybe you have to track down a diamond gemsbok, maybe it's a gift from an elder for taking down a rogue or a Maneater of some kind. Might be cool
These look super cool!
Hold up, found something else you might like
If we could get a rhino one that would be the cherry on top!
@patent agate letās see!
This is all a company called Blacktail bows, they have a whole collection for African big game
You can get your own bow, custom made with any of these carvings, so this would make an amazing reward for missions, I think I might like the horn bow more though
At the local antique shop there is So many Kudu wood carvings there is like 20 in separate booths

@mighty rampart @glad loom I ment like Great One things for an Elephant or something lol
Consider GO rhino
Maybe if you kill those creatures you get those styles
How about after completing the mission you need a gemsbok to get the bow
Something Like the 6.5 from Cuatro
Ngl they look really cool!
I'd love a mission chain that ends with you impressing an elder enough that he asks you to hunt a gold or diamond size gemsbok so he can "teach you" how to make the kind of bow his ancestors hunted with
Do horns even have enough flex to shoot an arrow or is it just a ornamental creation
Yes. Actually horn makes one of the best bow materials available. Plains Tribes in the US used buffalo horn to make composite bows for use on horseback that were so strong they could punch through a buffalo shoulder to shoulder. The Mongols used composite bows on horseback to build an empire. It's insane but yea, even antler can be used in bows
Oh cool
The gemsbok horn bows I'm showing are made simply but they end up with a draw weight between 80 and 120 pounds generally. They were classed as war bows but some tribes used them to hunt buffalo and lions
Look Awsome
Is bow widely used in hunting in Africa?
I liked the idea
Compared to regular old beef how is it?
What we should talk about is the price of that shoulder. 53 Rand(3 usd, 2 pounds, 2 Euro) is a crazy good price for a meal
Tastes like venison
Yeah around £2.24 for 3 massive steaks for just under a kilogram.
Zamn
Worth it. But tbh I'd be disappointed if giraffe tasted the same as whitetail lol
I feel like most wild game taste the same
A lot of wild game tastes very similar. GOOD Whitetail meat, Elk, and Moose are all fairly similar with only some differences,
Age and diet can be a factor too from my understanding
Diet is definitely a factor. Elk basically taste like what they eat, if theyāre eating Grasses and Berries, theyāll taste sweeter, but if theyāre eating Sage theyāre gonna taste like Sage. Whitetail is kinda the same and Iād assume moose is as well,
I concur. I've had Whitetail several times and elk like once and the taste was quite the same except for a few subtle differences
I really wonāt eat whitetail unless it was corn or grass fed. My Moms Dad hunts whitetail in South Dakota and they almost always eat corn, so theyāre really good tasting. Compare that to Whitetail up here in Idaho, which tastes kinda like sage or bark. Same goes for Mulies except any gaminess goes away if you soak it in buttermilk for a few hours.
the place i hunt is just woods with no farmland so the whitetails there aren't feeding on corn or anything like that. i would assume they eat grass from nearby fields tho
Then again, I was practically raised on nothing but Elk and Moose, so Iām a bit of a snob when it comes to game meat lol
lol. in contrast i've lived in the east all my life so just Whitetail for me lol (im grateful for it though because it's good stuff either way)
I think the reason Iām not as much of a deer guy is because they taste much more like what they eat than Elk. Elk are gonna be sorta sweet no matter what they eat, but deer are gonna kinda taste like what they eat. If they eat Sagebrush, itāll taste like Iām eating Sagebrush.
that's fair. the one time i had Elk i remember it being pretty sweet. unless i ever go out west on an Elk hunt one day (which will likely happen one day) i really hope i get another chance to have Elk because it was really good
idk, ive never liked elk personally, mule deer are good tasting for me
I donāt mind Mulies, I prefer them over something like Pronghorn even when cooked right, but they do have a very Gamey taste to me. I usually soak them in buttermilk and then marinate them in some sort of sauce or marinade,
I like the gamey taste I guess lol š I know not everyone does tho
It just depends how Gamey. I like the gaminess of something like Chukar or Quail, but Mulies can be a bit much for me. They just eat so much sage throughout the year that it messes with me.
Also depends on their age too, an old mulie can be really tough, even the "tender" loins are tough
Yeah, bucks in general seem to be pretty tough and chewy. The only 2 Mulies Iāve ever personally killed were both fairly young does, about 2 years old.
yeah, but when wild game is good, and not gamey its really good meat
For sure. Much better than just straight beef.
Y'all need to try blackbear that's loaded on corn, I like whitetail just fine but bear was the one thing I really worked on every year. Whitetail is also great if you get a deer that was on acorns, kinda gives it a taste like walnuts or pecans.
Since I moved to Wyoming I got elk, mule deer and black bear but I don't care for the bear meat as much unless it's a spring berry one
Up in the mountain country here in Colorado mule deer is about time of year for taste. If you want sweet venison without too much gaminess you really want to hunt archery or muzzleloader. If you're okay with a sort of earthy resiny taste then you can do first or second rifle. Third rifle and winter antlerless though tend to be pretty bitter, since they're living off sagebrush, lichens, and tree bark.
I aint ever eating bear, not risking it for worms
Not even blueberry bears?
It aināt much different than cooking pork, cook thoroughly.
Dude if you can cook pork you can cook bear (mountain lion too)
Pop a bear shoulder on the smoker and cook low and slow for 12 hours and that stuff comes apart like pulled pork.
Now I think of it, can you do cape buffalo this way?
I dream about Texas style BBQ but with African meats.
I saw a video of one guy who smoked a hole ostrich, and now I have this ongoing craving for more like it
Where's this video? Texas style Eland barbecue, Memphis style warthog ribs, Kentucky style impala, there's so much crazy opportunity that exists in this little idea
I've seen that video, it took place in Vietnam
From the Best Ever Food Review Show. All you have to do is look up smoked ostrich
I'm googling that right now it's 1 am but I'm starving lol
Smoked guinea fowl with white BBQ sauce sounds crazy good right now
How big a grill would you need for a giraffe shoulder
I have guineas in the freezer! That's tomorrow's supper plans
Iād imagine a really big one. But then you can do other really big meats as well
Youāll have to tell me if that ends up good, it sounds really good to me
Hey, to be honest, I was just gonna do a Memphis rub on them
I personally would do Alabama style with the white sauce, but you do you
Consequence of growing up in TN you don't get much good barbecue unless it's a Memphis joint
Plus, dry rub has the advantage of put it into an empty water bottle and throw it in your backpack portability
Great now Iām gonna be up all night thinking of African bbq!
Pulled bushpig sandwich, cape buffalo brisket, sable burnt ends(maybe?), smoked Nile crocodile tacos, lechwe sausage(Iāve had it before but not bbq style)
Buffalo and eland sound incredible for brisket, has anyone done that? They are both in Texas so someone has to have tried it
Thereās undoubtedly someone thatās done it.
Oh noā¦now Iām thinking of African Cajun Food!š«
If crocodile is anything like gator then I wanna make popcorn crocodile
Lmfao I was thinking crocs would be great for jambalaya š»
You could definitely do blackened impala too
Mmmmmmm blackened tigerfish(maybe, I havenāt heard anything about anyone eating tigerfish)
Nah, I'm going for one of the catfish for that
Also KUDU FAJITAS
Oooooooooo
Africa has so many opportunities tho, I'm sure there's infinite opportunities for incredible meals
Zebra meatloaf maybe?(im not a big meatloaf guy but now im just throwing ideas out)
Better idea. Zebra short ribs
Hey, venison makes an awesome meatloaf . . .or chili, chili is insanely good
Heartabeest chili I can see
I feel like wildebeest would be a perfect meat to braise or stew, just a really nice thick stew on a cool day
Gnu stew
Lol no puns!
Dude, I found blesbok stew meat online but it's 125$a pound
How I wish we were allowed to bring back our meat from huntsš
Right?! I'd absolutely go if I could bring home the meat
I promise you, if we could bring home the meat I'd go to Africa once a year to put something good in the freezer trophy or not
I love Blesbok. So much that on tiktok my mascot are Blesboks
Giraffe steaks did not agree with my bowels, never again
I bet that sucked. Did it at least taste good?
Ouch, you okay now at least?
Yeah
I have heard that some large game meat has really high levels of certain vitamins and or proteins that do not mix well with people who are not raised on it and or gut microbiome is adapted
That or he got one slightly off, it happens with store bought meats quite a bit.
Funky giraffe
A problem nobody thinks about until it happens
We have a tip off about a weapon being transported, wish me luck weāre going to ambush the car with police
Wish y'all luck then, hope you catch them
Good luck man, go get em!
Good luck
good luck, hope it goes well for y'all
im too scared
Treat it just like pork, make sure it's cooked thoroughly and you'll be fine
too scared
Steven Rinella got trichinosis from bear meat, yes, but he knows it wasn't cooked well enough. He still hunts them and feeds his family without worrying too much
too scared
Alright, I'm just blocking you now
sorry
My phone is covered in blood now, texting while cleaning a goat is a bad idea

How'd the raid go Boss?
Hey all you might not remember me but it's NZGA2026-2032 with a different name and PFP after a good and much needed 3 month break I am back into the beautiful world of Hunting and the Outdoors and my first and favourite Hunting Game COTW I cannot tell you how happy I am to be back and I can't wait to catch up with you all for the moment I'll be quite active again ( if Discord allows me to ) and I might start posting again but I'll still be taking a while to be playing COTW again
That makes me think now I noticed that my upvote for this post is gone and I'm not entirely sure why that is but for the second time I'll be upvoting ā¤ļøšæš¦ š³š¦ š§š¼ šæš² šæš¼ š²šæ š šš¦š¦š¦š¦š ššš„š„

Hey you had the ptarmigan pfp before right?
Ether way good to see you back!
This thing looks insane, I want one so bad
Would look epic on the wall
@patent agate hey mate how's it going hoping all has been well for you
Yes I had a Rock Ptarmigan PFP for some time
Yeah I thought it was you good to see you back!
Good to see you too!
Good ol Red Hartebeest
I agree I quite like their bizarre shaped horns with the way they curl their way up and then point back
I'm good, just found out that draw hunt application didn't get chosen (Gemsbok in New Mexico)
No big deal, I reapplied for spring
Better luck next time here's hoping fingersš¤
Welcome back to the discord
Hey! It's been awhile how have you been?
Iāve been alright, nothing terribly interesting on my end
Surely not it's been 3 months there's got be something but if there wasn't there wasn't have you been doing Polls though?
I pretty much ran out of things to poll thatās Africa related.
Bummer I kinda came back for that exact reason but meh
Oh dang, really! I feel like I need to bring back the African polls then. Iāll cook something up later(I will bring back older polls as well)
@untold maple let's go I'll try and come up with some myself too so it's not all on you
Bye all means, go nuts
@untold maple how do you find the new Update btw
Itās not really talked a lot about, but I really like the new tent icon for the maps. Also the Grandhare being class 9 is so much better, really good on Dagga Boys
I thought alot of people might enjoy the new Gandhare Buff and it's really nice to have a 4-9 Rifle since that covers so many classes
Iām definitely liking it
OK here's a poll for you Zambia š Zimbabwe š
Big nothing burger sadly, Someone leaked that we were waiting for him to move.
Dang, at least y'all are safe then. Maybe next time around
So other than you being a Anti-Poacher are you part of a specific Organisation are you a Government Worker? I really don't want to sound stupid but I don't really know much about it good to hear back from you though dangerous line of work
I am also curious
He has mentioned it's a private organization before, I asked about a donation or something, I believe he said they don't get government funding
OK thanks for the info @patent agate
Yeah private company, only the Kruger park rangers are hired by the government here
OK thanks for the information š
bump
So, I know rabbits and hares are not the favorite but I do like the rockhares cuz the tail makes them a tiny bit unique
I don't really like hunting Rabbits and Hares too in game anyway IRL was a ton of fun when I was still in New Zealand but for COTW while I don't like hunting them I still like the fact that they are still there in case I do want to shoot a few
I know this may be a somewhat odd inquiry but how did you get into being a ranger?
Knew some people, and wanted a change from the army.
Oh neat
Let see if you can figure out who this is, the only hint you get is that he's one of Africa's most famous hunters
(AFRICA 2.0 veterans leave it for the new guys)
Welcome back
Frederic Selous
I forgot and I was here since like 300 or 150 or smh
Lol, I said leave it for the noobs
Either way, I'm curious what those birds are. I don't recognize them but they're pretty impressive
Kori bustard
Interesting, have we discussed bustards in here? Seems like it could make for an interesting animal
Yeah weāve talked about bustards before. Their mostly a west African thing
Maybe another map, one more swamp focused
We should definitely talk about birds more on here
Hey! One of the OG's and one of my favourite people on the server how are you doing?
Have you made any map ideas in the time I've been offline?
Despite me being interested in hunting and having hunted IRL I feel very embarrassed and stupid that I don't know the names of Famous hunters š¤¦āāļøš„²
I should read a book or two I feel like I've lost some braincells
No need to feel stupid, if it's not something you've thought of learning about before then you might just read a little and find a new interest (this is not like learning about hotdogs, less gross and far more interesting)
The man in that picture is Frederick Selous, namesake of the Selous game reserve. He's got a long career in Africa as an ivory hunter and Explorer aside. He's also one of the earliest people to write about local tribes with uh. . . Less biased wording
Got any in mind that you really wanna see? Birds aren't my thing exactly but I know I'd love to see guinea fowl and I vaguely remember something about a blue quail/grouse of some kind
Thanks for the quick facts and kind words do you know of any good books about any historical figures to do with Hunting I know there would be quite a few and I could look at them myself but I was wondering if you might know anything
White Faced Whistling Ducks are kinda cool and probably wouldn't mind them on a map
I don't know too many that would be super interesting to anyone else but here's the one's I've read
Jim Corbett, I have all the books he wrote and I love every one. He's as much a conservationist as he is a hunter. He's a legend in India with a tiger reserve named after him, and a rifle in Rigby's museum that he used to hunt maneating tigers and leopards.
W.D.M. Bell, he's on the later end of ivory trade in Africa but he wrote quite a bit and even did an illustrated guide on shot placement for elephant hunting.
Frederick Selous of course, his journals are amazing and start as early in Africa as the late 1800's. He recounts a few hunts using a 4 bore muzzleloader with a one pound ball and a handful of powder
Last one I can think of is J.H. Patterson who wrote The Maneaters of Tsavo. If you've ever heard of a movie called The Ghost and the Darkness that story is based on his account of two maneating lions that hunted a railroad crew by night. Movie's well worth watching too
I recommend this book. Itās all about golden age safari hunting stories
I've been waiting for this one over a month because some knuckleheads at Amazon messed up my order
I had to wait like a month for Cormack McCarthyās blood meridian idk whatās amazons deal sometimes
@patent agate @untold maple thanks I'll have to take a look at them and see which one I might want in the future
They're surprisingly cheap on Amazon but you might have to wait longer than they say
I read the whole thing and got the audiobook
It's amazing
Yellow-billed ducks are also cool

Awsome, 2000 by February?š
Slow and steady, 5k is possible
94,444 is possible even
Jokes aside, the number will keep climbing up until the thread is renamed "Africa 3.0" and so on.
Africa has so much potential for big and small game that 2 maps is just not enough. Personally, I would gladly buy every Africa map EW could make
%100
Let me run this past you, is there a place in Africa you could feasibly do a half size map focusing on small game? I mean impala being the biggest animal on the map small?
Congo would be my first choice, no impala though.
Iād love a tiny 10 centered map.
Impala was just a size comparison to show what I meant. But yeah, a Tiny Ten map would be sweet. I had a bit of an idea that it was a heavily managed ranch/reserve, that encourages bow hunting
People seem to love Muntjac and Musk deer so I think the likelihood of that map coming to fruition is fairly high!
Ive got a crap ton going on but I want to do some research and get it posted up sometime soon. Got the idea from the gemsbok bow I posted a while back
What would the species be on Africa 3.0 if all the species here get released with Africa 2.0? š¤
It all depends on where EW chooses lol
Africa is completely different no matter where you point
Liam's right but we won't run out of animals to hunt in Africa.
A Congo map would still be pretty big. Forest elephants, dwarf Buffalo, lord derby eland(you can find them in the jungle parts of Wes Africa, theyāre not just a savanna animal) bongo, etc. that requires a lot of space
Lord Derby Eland and Forest Elephant (for the most part) live in a tiny part of what we call the Congo, to the point where I wouldnāt even mind seeing the two maps completely separate (CAR/Camroon) and true Congo.
its definitely possible
i think it can definitely hit 1500 before the end of the year, maybe as high as 1750
I'd expect an influx of upvotes from the end of november through the new year as high schoolers and uni students go on thanksgiving/winter break
I want the 3rd Africa to be Namibia
We could legitimately have 5 maps for Africa. There are so many options for plains game alone
honestly if we count upland fowl and other small game plus play the conservation angle that Sundar has for tigers/snow leopards to include otherwise unhuntable species we could have upwards of 7 or 8
I'd buy that many, I know I would. Might be the only game on my ps5 but it'll be there
Pandora had a weird sense of humor, I'm reading about Africa and Wheezer just popped up
In theory, with next one being SIXTEENTH, we should've had at least 2 Africa by now
I think they are waiting Becuase if the released a varhonga class Africa 2 map people would be disappointed
Explain further(
I agree š I'm just thinking would Africa 2.0 be multination or singular because them that could open up more countries for maps rather than having one map that covers South Africa, Botswana and Zambia or something like that
I wanna see the map flow between environments like Emerald Coast does, I want the rare predators like Sundarpatan, and a large selection of plains game or real heavyweights like elephants and hippos. I'd love to see them do a "test map" for Africa 2.0 with a bunch of plains game options and then a fully double sized map for the big five.
I'd gladly delete everything on my ps5 to make room for it, except rdr2 and MHW/Wilds
If they decide to implement leopards I would really love it if they also stalk instead of flee like the tigers. For example they can jump down on you from a tree. Ek sal net moerse groot skrikš
Would be a cool feature
If they didnāt go all out with the big 5 and did just another antelope map with leopards as the main species
Donāt get me wrong that Africa is better than no new Africa but we are expecting Africa 2 to be big 5 and I think a while back in this thread someone suggested to start calling Africa big 5 instead of Africa 2 to make the point we want the big 5
Iād say that would just add to the hype.
I think the could make āleopord treesā becuase they wonāt be able to climb every tee
If they made tree mechanics for leopard they should also give it to other animals as well(specifically cougar and black bear)
And roosting for turkeys
Blue quail. Thoughts?
Made you look
Art by Lucie Bilodeau
This map needs to be a thing
I think having leopard feed and rest zones being up trees would be perfect
Need them.
I'd dare say that EW should have Wellington be the expert advisor for the map/roster since he works with wildlife on an African reserve
Been away for two days Iām Mozambique and then raided a squatter camp yesterday so not been as active as I would like!
Be safe, we'll be here!
Day before yesterday
Tried looking before hitting play and I almost didn't see it lol, what a beauty tho. They must be used to tourist if you can get that close
Leopard should be class 5 as in reality they are just slightly smaller than cougars and hyena should be 6
Honey badger could be class 2 or 3
ostrich is hard...id say maybe 5 or 6
nah leopards need to be class 7 or 8
for rarity i agree but soly baised off size it should be 5 maybe it could be 7 and similar to the Tigers that only one (maybe two) in each region
Theyāre not shot based on their size, in Africa predator calibres are determined by how fats they can put the animal Down.
Wound a leopard and Iām telling you now your in serious danger when you start tracking that thing, It will f you up
I've heard so many terrifying stories about leopards and hunters
You and everyone around you.
If I remember right, the highest recorded of people mold in one attack was 7 people. jumping from person to person
Sounds about right, those things will make you kak
Anybody unfamiliar.
Lions and leopards are largely regarded as dangerous game, fairly, because they are extremely powerful predators. Part of the reason large bore rifles are used is to minimize the chance of attack from a wounded animal.
Lions have an instinctive pattern to target one person out of a group and use all their last few seconds in a VERY DETERMINED attack to kill said person. Doesn't matter if it's the hunter, the guide, the trackers, or some fella herding livestock in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Leopards react a bit differently when they charge a group their goal is to get to and maul as many people as possible as quickly as they can.
You are not using a large bore rifle because of the size of the animal. YOU USE A LARGE BORE TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUPIDITY DOESN'T GET SOMEONE ELSE KILLED
Just a reminder. Cape buffalo are equally dangerous and it's not advisable to take your eyes off them (if this is a little much I can delete it, just let me know)
Oh ok, sorry I havenāt played much recently due to school and forgot a lot
āFatally Gored In Groin..ā š«Ø
Yeah, ain't a good way to go
The groin that is not a fun way to go out
Not fun
It's not just getting hooked there either, that bull feels something on his horn and he will do his best to throw it off by any means necessary. You'd be ragg dolled, while that horn is tearing up whatever it's in, until you were thrown off. Then it'll still be pi**ed and stomping on you.
Seen this happen with a rodeo bull, don't want to think about it with a cape buffalo's curved horn in the mix
Just had a thought,
How insane would it be if someone(very stupid) rode a Cape buffalo during a rodeo. It would be crazy coolā¦but also crazy dump(to someone that reads this and thinks that would be coolā¦please donāt)
New execution method?
Thatās some Roman Colosseum stuff right there
Dude, you know some dipstick would 100%do that if they were smart enough to read this.
Ifā¦if is good
Iāll take an if
So, not to rant. But I need to ask this, how do you tolerate the kind of idiot who stops his MINI COOPER in the middle of a one way road to get pictures of a Mule deer and telling everyone trying to get home they can wait until he gets enough pictures of "that giant elk"
Cuz I'm washing I had some bear spray
Bear mace to the eyes usually does the trick
This is the 3rd person in two days mistaking deer and elk. I'm starting to lose my patience. I can somewhat understand not knowing the difference between mule and blacktail deer.
I bet this is exactly how tour guides in Africa feel
This has been done. . .
Think about it like this, you know that American cowboys have gone to Africa to hunt. You know some of them have been showriders. At some point this has probably been tried between the beer and bravado
Someone riding a Cape buffalo or someone reading a really bad idea and going through with it?
Both
BOTH!!!
Someone was actually insane enough to ride a Cape buffalo aka the Black Death, the widomaker, and the African land lord!
I mean, riding a cape buffalo is somewhat impressive and interesting to have on your headstone
But reading something horribly stupid and deciding that it absolutely can't go bad if you do it is how you end up in the newspaper for dying like a dumb***
Land lord is a new one to me. Interesting.
But I just realized, there's cape buffalo in Texas. It wouldn't surprise me that's on a tombstone somewhere
Yeah the phrase goes, a Cape Buffalo will look at you like you owe them money. So I decided to call them that now
And you can find just about anything in Texas
Texas is trying to mimic pangea istg
Elk, fallow deer, gemsbok, Nilgia, Rhea
I think youāre right!
I'm gonna go ahead and say this now and I refuse to apologize.
There's a fairly good chance that eventually a storm with absolutely destroy one of the ranches and the US is gonna have between several dozen and several hundred new invasive animals to deal with.
I sincerely hope that impala, dama gazelle, and dikdik explode in population and make feral pigs look infertile. I'd be so happy with them
Itās already happened with gemsbok,Nilgai, and axis deer(though not hog population levels)
I mean like impala running with Pronghorns. That would be fun. . .
I just had a thought. There's water buffalo in Texas and Florida, at some point they WILL get outside the fences and we've suddenly got swamp tractors out there with the gators, pythons, and water moccasins.
($$#$$# SWAMPS)
On a similar but unrelated note there is probably an Alternate Universe where you can hunt tigers on game ranches in Texas, after all Texas supposedly has more tigers then all of Asia (supposedly). IRL such an operation is illegal but in an alternate universe who knows
I'm legitimately surprised some deranged millionaire hasn't found a way to farm elephants for their ivory. Texans are imaginative so I figured they'd have come up with some way to do it.
Maybe trim a pound off each year and auction it off like some disgustingly expensive wine
Rhinoceros could have been farmed for their horns, at least rhinoceros horn can regrow after a while
Nature is insane. People are insane, just in the stupid way.
A couple of decades ago in South Africa there were rhino and elephant farms for that exact reason. But then they made that illegal and populations for both took an absolute beating.
And elephant sanctuaries in Asia will trim the tusks of their elephants and sell them
I'm not surprised by any of this, honestly. But if they were heavily regulated and licensed then would that not be acceptable? I mean if there was a legal source of ivory that didn't risk jail time would that not drive the price of illegal ivory down? I mean, if there's less profit there's less interest generally
That would be a very costly endeavor
And yet, I somehow feel ivory would actually be worth it. At least if you kept a small number of animals and had some way to guarantee a solid food source/water
But the amount of time legal cost and they would cost millions in food costs for a sustainable size heard as much as I wish we could have a safe sustainable way to get ivory but they would be too hard to harvest
It would absolutely take a concerted effort from a ton of directions to be possible but honestly it would drive down ivory /rhino horn prices. It's also much more humane than the circuses that still have elephants as part of the show. The farms could even function as a sort of education center with donations helping to fund it as well as more conservation efforts. Honestly not much difference between zoos
I'm filling out draw hunt applications while doing this
Thatās fair enough although Unfortunately we have a organization known as Peta messing anything up as far as public image goes
For are you going for?
Gensbok, scimitar oryx, sambar, and blackbuck
Texas?
I mean yeah, the same people who stole dogs off people's porches, gassd them, and then sent a fruit basket is definitely trustworthy
Yeah Texas is nuts, I'm doing the apps for public land only and WHY CANT I JUST DO ONE APPLICATION AND COPY IT FOR THE OTHER ONES? THERE ALL TGE SAME FREAKING PRICE
I thought you just needed a small game license to hunt exotic game in Texas
Never been heard the hunting there is phenomenal
I want to bag a axis deer one day
They changed to draw hunt only and I'm losing it. Gemsbok better taste freaking amazing after this paperwork
I can confirm, they do
Unless Texan raised gemsbok taste differently from the African gemsbok
Axis deer is pretty good, not my favorite but good. There are no bag limits for any of these hunts so if I can just get one ill buy several coolers.
BTW, Texas minimum caliber for gemsbok is .270 using a 150gr bullet minimum. Seems light.
I could go for some Axis deer fajitas right about now.
We had a whole conversation about American food styles with African game meat here the other day lol
I still drool over the idea of Texas style African BBQš¤¤
Bush pig ribs
Gemsbok brisket could absolutely be a thing
Did you end up doing the Alabama style guinea fowl?
Yes! It was freaking amazing my folks at 4 birds in one night lmao
I did 4 thinking we'd have some leftovers but nope.
Are back straps aka tenderloin as universally good as on whitetail?
Some are better, elk in particular
Never have had any other types of venison aside from moose tongue weirdly enough
Idk if you've tried it, but neck meat makes a great chili meat. Shanks are great for braising. But if you take a whole shoulder and slow smoke it with a really good rub it turns out incredible. Brine is your friend with shoulders/hams
Have not tried that we usually fully break down our deer keeping only select cuts whole and some for burger or canning
Try making a meatloaf with it, just don't coat it in ketchup. . .that's disgusting
Have done it itās great
Or venison tacos
Heart tacos or fried livers are stellar too. Wish there was more bone marrow but that's why we have elk
Donāt have elk anywhere near me I can hunt without dropping a small fortune to get so Iām stuck to whitetail all the whitetail also have had goop for a heart and liver by the time my 450 is done with em
You make the job way too messy.
Yup itās not fun but the expansion on 450 I canāt help it. It just happen with double lung
Maybe change bullet type? Try a slightly more solid bullet
There is only one good deer 450 load at any of my local stores there is only stronger loads
Yea, started reloading because I couldn't find the ammo I needed. There were maybe 2 places I could get ammo back in my home town and the only other place was a 30 min drive
Nilgai are pretty cheap to hunt in south west Texas.
Aint there some nilgai loose on some guys land?
Something like that.
What a problem to have
Speaking of nilgai, would .450BM be enough for nilgai? Been thinking about the logistics of hunting one for awhile now.
I have no clue š
Yep. I used my guideās gun for when I hunted a nilgai. He used a 6.5 cartridge with a 270 bullet. The bullet went completely through her(meat hunt)
Theyāre also nocturnal so you have to hunt at night(and get eaten by mosquitoesā¦my left hand was so swollen)
Good to know!
There are like 18000 in king ranch
I bet that if Mammoths get reincarnated some rich guys gonna put them on a hunting ranch
OX ranch has like 40 species. I wanted to book an impala hunt but dang, cannot afford that much
I just saw the price for an Impala on Ox Ranch, and 10,000 Dollars for a medium sized antelope is a bit crazy
I wouldnāt be surprised if a Impala hunt in South Africa was not only cheaper but also allowed for a couple other species for the same price as an Ox Ranch Impala Hunt
Of course hunting in Africa comes with its own share of expenses
It does, plains game ( 3 kinds) was only 4k
OX ranch is crazy expensive. For a majority of the animals there, itās cheaper to go to Africa and hunt them there
For those who want to reread
I'm seriously thinking about ordering gemsbok horns to make a bow, they look so freaking cool
They should donate some of the money from the dlc to a conservation in Africa or something along those lines so itās more acceptable. I think leaving the animals you can hunt on Vurhonga should only be on that map or some of them, and add greater kudu and leave lesser on Vurhonga. I really hope this happens.
Not necessary, the species list is completely acceptable
Lesser kudu on vurhonga is ridiculous in the first place.
Are there any places (aside from game reserves/ranches with introduced populations) where lesser kudu, gemsbok, and springboks inhabit the same area the way they do on vurhonga?
im not even sure they can be regularly hunted there; iirc Ethiopia and Tanzania have most of the huntable lesser kudu
the wigeon make even less sense being 2,000 miles too far south given the farthest south they get is the Rwandan coast of Lake Victoria
Lesser Kudu donāt live in Sourh Africa in the slightest.
oh wow so it's even more inaccurate than I thought
Yep
Vurhonga is not the best representation of south Africa. They could still fix it though
Gemsbok and lesser kudu share the same range, but springbok are nowhere near lesser kudu
Having lesser kudu in southern Africa is like saying moose should be on Mississippi acres
Wrong, Gemsbok are a South African Species
There is the Fringe-eared and Besia Oryx of Eastern Africa that shares range with Lesser Kudu
mabey
They said in a now ancient twitter post that Vurhonga is set in botswana
bruh moment; its gotta be one of the most not-Botswana possible reserves
good lord
Mississippi is more Botswanan than vurhonga
Fr
Now, I've never been to Africa in any way but literally nothing about Vurhonga feels "Botswana"
A severe lack of elephants contributes to that given that Botswana has a very large elephant population
When I think of Botswana it's generally the delta that comes to mind. Vurhonga is just not
A huge stretch of Botswana is also covered by the Kalahari Desert if I recall correctly
True but I can't help but think of the okavango delta. I used to watch elephant and hippo hunts done there and always wanted to go
I wanna ask this, hippo or elephant?
Personally I'm more interested in hippo hunting. I feel like you'd be slogging through a swamp of tall grass with the .470 listening with massive paranoia because you can't see anything past like 3 feet. I need that .375 more for buffalo and lion, eventually leopards, tigers too I guess
hippos scare the hell outta me, gimme the elephant
That's why I'm interested tho lol
Guess the animal call. (Last 4 minutes)
I can't hear anything
Congolese spotted lion and melanistic lion. Potential GO?
Volume max, at 3 seconds
I'm going to sleep RN so I'll guess tomorrow
I feel like that's a short call from a big cat. Can't tell if it's a lion or leopard tho
I just imagine a Legendary Rhino charging at me in cotw, damn I want this map lol
Definitely hyena
huh?
Or Cheetah
This guy said a legendary rhino but I think they will go to lvl 5 not 9 if they come
there's a precedent for large-bodied herbivores going up to lvl 9 already; the plains bison, euro bison, cape buffalo, water bufflo, and wild yak all go to lvl 9 and they're all significantly smaller/have less impressive headgear than a rhinoceros
Rule of thumb seems to be that if its maximum weight is more than 8/10ths of a metric ton it goes to level 9
Yea I see your point and rhinos are also dangerous so probably 9
9
This is a species list with levels for an African map suggestion I made It should be up at the top if your looking for it
Guinea Fowl lvl 3
Baboon lvl 5
Bush Pig lvl 5
Springbok lvl 3
Medium Game class 4-7
Leopard lvl 9
Greater Kudu lvl 5
Gemsbok lvl 5
Eland lvl 5
Sable lvl 5
Black wildebeest lvl 6
Waterbuck lvl 5
Impala lvl 5
Zebra lvl 5
Spotted Hyena lvl 9
Cheetah lvl 9
Warthog lvl 5
Big game class 8-10
African Bush Elephant lvl 9
Black Rhinoceros lvl 9
Cape buffalo lvl 9
Lion lvl 9
African Giraffe lvl 9
Hippopotamus lvl 9
We have a winner
thats a weird looking cape buffalo
The most exotic of African animalsā¦cattle
I mean, can't go wrong with burger
@mighty rampart What region of Southern Africa do you mostly work in?
Limpopo
Thx
Love these guys
Yippee
Great idea but this map will be HUGE
?
All the spiral horns are just the coolest
Itās a rough species listā¦
Yes but u know what I mean
nyala are so cool
I still say I'd gladly pay for a 2x size map for Africa 2.0
What is realistically the most you would pay for Africa 2 mine would be about $50
Depends, on the rendition.
As much as it costs if itās utmost perfection.
I'd pay probably 20$ for a map 2x size or something similar to Emerald Coast in quality because I know I spent months on that map alone
If it was 2x the size I donāt think money would stop me
To satisfy my curiosity, would you even be interested in another Africa map if it did not include the big five? Do not get me wrong, the team is aware that this is a massive request from the community (the amount of replies in this thread only confirms it) but I'm wondering if hunting the big five is the main reason why everyone wants another map located in Africa?
For me I would like another Africa map but it wouldnāt really feel complete without the big 5
To be totally honest, YES.
I've said it a few times and I know a few people agreed that Africa could have 3 or 4 maps to itself. The sheer number of plains game would support that many. As far as the big 5, it would be ideal to have them on one reserve but I wouldn't mind having a reserve that just featured one or two. Say leopards and rhinos on a Savanah style map. I'd also love one map with hippos on it as well as animals like the Nile lechwe, waterbuck, and crocs. Africa just has too much potential to stop at just 2 maps
I feel that would be cool even if only a few of the big five were included. Africa in general is fun to hunt. An introduction of some new big game species and more and more antelope species would be awesome. So would the addition of Nile crocodiles
Hi Patricia,
Very happy to hear from you!
From what Iāve seen on this thread, the general appeal comes from wanting to hunt the Classic African species
Elephants, giraffe, zebra leopard etc.
People Iām sure want to hunt the complete the big 5 on one map, although we already have two of them on Vurhonga.
Another point that I keep seeing brought up is that vurhonga didnāt quite do the place justice, mainly from lacking previously mentioned species as-well as requested species like greater kudu (donāt get me wrong though we all love Vurhonga)
I think the final motive that I see mention in here is the want for exotic locations, weāre used to most of the laps offering a variety of antelope species that are fairly similar, alongside many repeat species like bears and moose etc. sundapartan Iām sure has been very successful and Iāll wager that itās down to the new species that are unlike anything added before (Tigers,Tah,Snow leopards etc)
In short
-wanting the Big 5 and other high profile African species to be added (particularly elephants)
-a wish to move into more exotic territory to shake up the similar species lists
Hope this feeds your curiosity!
Iām sure than others will also have a few diffrent points that they may wish to add
Best - Welly
(Sorry for typos Iām driving and itās very dusty!)
Tbh, I'd love to see a more tropical African location in the game myself so having the big five included would not be the main selling point for me but it's all about listening to your feedback and not my ramblings š
Couldnāt have said it better we want the big 5 but we want Africa more than anything
100%!, we all ramble on here too!
At some point in the games lifespan there needs to be the big 5 but say do another Africa map with 2 more and then 1 last map with all of them combined
Hi, I recently stumbled upon this thread and had lot of fun reading this. I have qiestion for you guys here. If we only could get one of the two African rhinos, which would you pick ? My personal choice is the black rhino, they are more aggresive and solitary, so they would be probably more exciting if implemented right.
To answer the question of would we even want a second Africa map, I think the reasonable answer would be YES!
From the dense jungles of the Congo, to the Kalahari desert, the Bangweulu swamp, the Zambezi delta, the Ethiopian highlands, the entirety of South Africa, and the Masai Mara.(donāt even get me started on the species)
There is so much potential from Africa, it feels like EW has only scratched the surface of what yāall can make over there.
I use to make mini polls about this, white rhino ended up winning, but it was close
I believe we shouldn't only have Africa 2.0, but also Africa 3.0 and maybe even 4.0 one day, so yes, ABSOLUTELY I wouldn't mind one of them not having the Big 5, there's sooo many biomes and species in Africa
Oh, I saw some of the polls but this one I missed.
African jungles?𤨠š
Old world monkeys > New world monkeys
We live in a new world tho
Are gorillas more endangered than Tigers? I know some people wouldn't feel right hunting them, but also majority of people were feeling the same way about tigers last year, so idk
i'd like to see a mission helping the Pygmy peoples of Africa to stop deforestation
Wtfš
Pygmy people?!?!
Yeah, but in my humble opinion old world primates are more interesting both from zoological wiev and hypothetical hunting in game
idk, I didn't name em
I did a quick check and to my surprise both subspecies of western gorilla are criticaly endangered, and so is eastern lowland gorilla, but mountain gorilla is endangered according to IUCN. And here i thought mountain gorillas were the rarest of them all
Tigers are not closely related to humans, Gorillas are
Mind you I wouldnāt mind shooting monkeys in the game but apes is where I personally draw the line
Ok makes sense to me, tho personally, as a huge fan waiting for a game like GTA 6, wouldn't mind hunting gorillas in this game lol
But again, im totally fine if they don't add gorillas
Once again, I humbly request water horses with less than friendly attitudes toward those of us not of their species
Hmm. . .
A mission called the Monster from the Black Lagoon. Very aggressive old hippo bull with massive tusks and a scarred hide. Reward is a rifle with engravings. Yes, please.
Without a doubt I would be interested.
The great return to good missions
āQuick, grab the rifle and run down to the waterfront because a fatal hippo attack occurred, a man drinking water was the victim. Take the hippo before more are hurtā
Smashed canoes and shredded clothes for evidence
Gotta have something about a Baden in there too
And then after the last piece of evidence is photographed/collected it bursts out of the water, arises a massive bull
Maybe Baden wounded it ad caused the problem
Iād like to see the badens be connected to the anti poaching side mission line previously mentioned by Wellington which could go one step further and connect it to the main missions (wounded angry hippo)
Or better yet, an angry bull elephant during the rut. Itās charging at everything it sees
Nothing wrong with several Rogue missions and unique animals
I picture Africa 2.0 having atleast 2 mission animals (rare or diamond potential atleast)
And unique like the wolves on coutro or the fordland moose on te awaroa
I donāt really care if they are unique or not tbh, just want some cool missions after years of having none.
An overarching mission leading to a Maneater leopard would be fun, takes six or seven investigations to figure out what's going on
Art by Brian Jarvi
Yāall should check him out, thereās a lot more that I didnāt show
Wait thereās shoebills in Africa????!!!!!
Yeah⦠thatās where they are fromā¦
As you can tell Iām not very educated in African wild life
I wouldn't skip buying it, but I'd be really disappointed. The hype is stronger than ever now that EW released tigers and seems to be loosening up a bit.
I could easily imagine enough potential for five maps, that continent is rich in biome diversity.
Iād still be interested in a new Africa map without the big 5 100%. Thereās still so much you guys could do without them. That said though, I still really want the big 5, I wouldnāt mind if theyāre spread across multiple Africa maps, since I think Africa absolutely deserves more then two maps plus I think thatād allow it to feel more natural. Trying to get all 5 of the big 5 (or 6) on 1 map along with some of the other big requested animals would make it feel a bit forced potentially. I could see 1-2 each map.
Africa just has a lot of wildlife thatās so vastly different then what we have on a lot of our current maps (and a lot of them are just very iconic) that makes it really appealing to me. Big 5 or no. But defineitly would love to see big 5!
We have Pa"trick"cja's attention š¤ as for the big 5 we should have Africa regardless but the big 5 will add more quality to the map and surely drive more sales
The fact that yall are keeping this up is amazing I was here since conception this is great 1279 upvotes

Thereās a lot of Africa to talk about
I know right! Africa is so cool. I hope ultimate hunting is good because they got the line up right. We just need the ultimate hunting Africa in cotw
idk if it was discussed here already, but speaking of The Big Five, I'd love to see the Cape Buffalo get a TLC like the Water Buffalo recieved :3
Can I post a mild gripe about outposts?
If you stop and look at the position of outposts on vurhonga it's hard not to see that most of them are in terrible spots. None of them have water tanks, cover from storms, or decently flat terrain. I wouldn't mind less outposts if they were put in places where ot made sense to place a camp. (I.E. NOT A CLIFF)
honestly that entire gigantic mountain in my opinion is a waste of space, that could've been a completely flat savannah we all wanted and it would add extra space for a 1 or 2 more species in the map, instead it's just completely useless, takes up space and also you can't really hunt on it at all, and it leaves those steep small parts at the map border which are also a nightmare to hunt
You always have my attention š Sometimes I just need to ask a few extra questions to get a better idea of what you want to see in the game
Please give us this amazing map as soon as the team can š„ŗ this is the most heavenly idea to be posted. Same thing with a lot of other ideas. I'm feeling good times for EW and us players over the next few years
We want this! š
You're all ready with the mocap designs
I would šÆ be interested in another Africa map without the big 5! There is so many animals in Africa that arenāt controversial but are so cool.
Monkeys Nyala, eland, greater kudu. Different wildebeests, impala, zebra giraffes hippos crocs, I mean there is so much to do in Africa not just the big 5. I think this is a no brainer for the next map it would be so cool big 5 or not.
Thatās something I would dream aboutš
Again, nothing controversial about any of these species when we literally have snow leopards and tigers in game- and on top of that unlike those species all the remaining big 5 can be legally hunted.
Letās stop using this phrase, itās not accurate or relevant
Agreed she just said a map without the big 5 bad word choice.
Lion and Cape buffalo could definitely use some TLC
What about Cheetah
As long as it has both Leopards and Cheetahs Together, I would be happy
Oooo I forgot about cheetah. We need 2 or 3 more Africa maps we will never have everything
ā
Honestly, seeing new map concepts always makes me very happy
Itās time to make a modš we need whoever made that on the dev team thatās incredible.
Original map concept was made by @mystic token, but I did the version above by myself
this is the original:
Wow thatās cool. Great teamwork! That polish just makes it look so good.
Yea, if EW don't make Africa 2.0, we're gonna do it ourselves šš
Mod mod modš
Iām genuinely so excited for the possibility of this happening I really want ew to make Africa 2.0
words cannot describe the respect I have for you coz you always mention I made the original concept
Hey w concept art man it is beautiful
Keeping it fair is important, respect between people is generally lacking lately (on the internet as a whole)
We just need more Africa in general. 2 or 3 more maps would hurt no one's feelings. A couple of gear packs with clothes and guns would be really cool, classic stuff I mean
Iāve been saying that for so long and I just said it today lol

We need a Vurhonga fix pack if not Africa 2.0 next
There is really nothing they can do to vurhunga
I honestly want greater kudu. I want a lodge full of them get a super rare or 2
No they could do a lot, particularly tlc for the animals, taking truracs off springboks, and putting a new species or two would go a long way to fixing some issues
If there are greater kudu and lesser kudu, are there medium kudu?
š I mean if you find a small enough greater kudu
Yeah but I donāt see that happening. If anything they would tlc Layton and hirsh animals because those are free maps
I'd love to see a full on poll of most-least favorite maps. I doubt vurhonga would rank high
Yeah, east cape kudu(their still pretty big, but noticeably smaller than kudu from the rest of southern/Eastern Africa)
Vurhunga and medved are my 2 favorite old maps.
My least favorite map is vurhonga, used to be my favorite. My current all time favorite without question is Emerald Coast.
EC is flawless for my favorite way to hunt so I spent 9 or maybe 10 months on it alone
Vurhonga is also my least favourite map, unfortunately its the only African map
See I used to absolutely love Vurhonga for bow hunting. The Kudu in the fever tree forests were absolutely amazing for long bow hunting but then ducks were added and that's the only freaking animal I hear. Drives me insane
Dam itās Africa we already have Africa itās very genaric all you wanna do is add animals and I bet they donāt add all those animals bc you canāt hunt them āJUST GIVING FEED BACKā
Cheers for the incredibly mature ( and even more well thought through ) response, I would expect nothing less š and
also yeah itās clearly very generic and boring, hence why it has the most upvotes out of all the other map suggestions hereā¦
You can also hunt all of these species legally š
All these animals Can be hunted, you have make research and you see it
We have multiple maps set in Europe and North America, and each of them is unique in some way. Africa has incedible biodiversity and could be made into multiple. Africa is not just grassland with few baobabs and bushes.
Are you serious? These are most commonly hunted species in southern Africa. This idea was created to 'mend' vurhongna. Any hunter dreams of hunting beasts like these. They are not illegal
You are actually making me burst with laughter
I'm thinking with this we could get a cape buffalo remodel with truhorns
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1260924752126672990
This is an idea
This will be the guy to say he wants another USA map.
Yeah, and the species list would be mostly repeats from old maps.
Thatās my point. They complain about Africa which is probably the coolest huntable region in the world. It makes no sense to me. One of my favorite quotes you canāt fix stupid. Iām not trying to be mean but thatās just a down right crazy take
I think lot of people just want to have their state represented in game, not seeing that it's not that exciting for most people. I get that, I would love to have my country in COTW, but because I live in Europe near Germany, it would be Hirschfelden with two or three new animals. And that would be pretty lame map if you ignore the IRL connection only few players would have.
each country has its own species, we have to keep in mind
I am not trying to disrespect any country, or anybody who has different ideas about next map, but I wouldn't like to see new map where most species are just repeats.
Love the āstanding ovationā he got!
Heās not actually complaining about africa, heās just a. Bit Pi$$ed off that I said that another American map would be dull
I actually agree with him. I don't agree with his delivery by no means. Vurhonga is my least favorite map because of the biomes. Hopefully if they ever do another Africa map they can have better biomes. To be fair to him I have seen Wellington say some pretty crappy stuff about USA maps that had new species.
Chuck, my guy, 1. pronouns my g, you gotta change that 2. don't be salty my guy 3. do a lil research, Africa is awesome
Hi chap;
Iāve been critical but with good reasonā¦
My main gripe about new American species it that theyāre (in my opinion) lacklustre ( the exception being Canadian arctic which I would love to see) you can see my comments and I stand by them
Squirrels are not exactly at the top of my list, nor are a few ducks and badgers. But while Iām sure my future American map would be high quality, it think with 5 maps already set in the states, we should really look elsewhere are kind the world
Regardless Iām glad you and I are able to contribute cooperatively to suggestions
Well itās true š
I totally get your gripe about most USA maps. But there are some areas in the USA that could still contribute to the game.
It looks like you guys will be happy soon. EW is almost guaranteed to be working on another Africa map with the questions they was asking about the big 5. I'm truthfully happy to see you guys getting a map you will enjoy. EW just please make the biomes better than Vurhonga
Agreed I think Africa has so much to offer we need more than what they did for vuhunga but keep in mind that was in 2018 look at what they did for sundarpatan
Amen, letās hope that Africa 2 blows everything before out the park.
And 100% bru, America has lots to offer, but with only 1 reserve per year now, and limited life left in the game. Iād like to see more diverse locations from other continents
Thatās the problem as an American 1 reserve a year would suck to get a mediocre American map. I would only accept an Arctic Canada map
it would be cool to see a Californian(disgusting, i know) Redwood forest map
I'm still not sold on 1 per year yet. Jaxy won't commit to it being only one per year in the streams. We may be surprised this December.
So what ultimate hunting is adding? That would add nothing to the game
Who knows maybe we get an arctic Canada map this winter. Iām convinced we wonāt get Africa in 6 months but they could probably pull off a Canada map
it'd add a beautiful location and a mission line surrounding the conservation of an awesome forest
I hope so too!
honestly, a lot of US states would make awesome maps and even bring in some new species. Louisiana has its bayous, forests, and even man-made crawfish ponds. It could bring in "swamp-rats" I forgot the real name, but it's a large rodent that lives in swamps
It's just, some states may be too similar to others to have all 50 states have their own map
Again there are so many better places man. I get thatās what you like but we could go so maybe different places that arenāt the USA I donāt even mean Africa even tho thatās a huge untapped resource
Yeah I think devs coming in and asking about Africa is a great sign. My guess is itās either the next map or the map after. I think if we have one in between it could be an Arctic map because that has a lot of backing from the community
Muskrat
My guess is they are planning to make Africa very soon because it is asked so much, but they are going to do it without the class 10 species on the map due to us not having (and requesting, apperantly) new big lodge for those animals to put .... hence why they are asking on this chat if we'd be fine with Africa 2.0 without the class 10 species
Hopefully we'll still get animals such as leopards or cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, greater kudus and etc.
Agreed I think they could do it with everything else in the map. That was my thoughts on that also. Iād be completely fine with that. It would stink a bit not to get elephants rhinos and giraffes but is that the hill we want to die on igš. The line up for an Africa map would be crazy!
Maybe they already are making it and are getting to animal development not just concepts š¤·
I know the June 2025 map is not going to be this for sure, because Arshak said on their stream that Africa is not on their road map until the end of 2025, so my guess the June 2026 makes sense for us to get some sort of Africa map
Agree to an extent but remeber that roadmaps have an do change,
As for lodges, letās not think theyāre a limiting factor, things like head mounts are perfectly possible for the species in the existing lodges, align with the safari lodge easily having space for giraffe and elephants
Jaxi has said himself that they could absolutely do elephants in the game on streams
Elephants are three, four times bigger than a Moose, and Moose standing on the XXL platform in Saseka takes up the whole thing ... idk
We need a museum lodge dlc first ...
The layout can be like the Museum of Natural History in New York
Elephants can easily fit on the large plinths, roof space is more than enough in sasika and in the main hallway of the American lodge.
Iām sure that if lodges were a limitation that these species would only be placeable on those stand that could fit them.
It would be crazy not to add elephants, rhinos hippos and giraffes to Africa 2
Not the height, but the length will extend the boarders of the stand I think
100%
But letās just see, the devs have said they can do them, so keep your fingers crossed and keep making noise
Bro they said that last year and they said they could change the roadmap. This has almost 1300 upvotes and they said they are a community driven dev team this is clearly what we want
Also I want a pose in my lodge of a diamond elephant standing in it's back legs, like that Nilgai pose in the lodge
The heads of the elephants might but overhang should be fine.
Africa 3.0š
Give me Elephant vs Scrub Hare multimount NOW!!!!!!!!!!
I could see this next map being Africa man. I just donāt know why they wouldnāt I think it would sell like crazy
Another reason why I want a new lodge before the arrival of the Elephants is because I want them to give Elephants a Great One straight away like the tahr, and I want them to be 1.5x bigger!!!
I understand that!, but with limited dev time left I just want to see them asap!
We gotta let them cook now š³
Hereās the problem look at those maps you linked and how many upvotes they have compared to this one itās literally doubt triple and even more times than they are. All those maps combined donāt have the upvotes of this one want nvm thatās a stretch
Yea, and I was the first one to react with a
to this post, I want this over anything
They could easily have several more African maps
Another southern African map(Namibia, south Africa, Zimbabwe), an East African map(Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda), and a Western African map(Cameroon)
Iām serious I could see this being the next map. Mostly ultimate hunting is coming out next year so it would be smart for them to get ahead of this Africa map before ultimate hunting either flops or is a banger
Now this, Arctic and Amazon are my top 3 dreams, like once was Australia, South Asia and Arctic
In all fairness those suggestions haven't spammed VCs or DMs to my knowledge either. I'm not saying Africa isn't wanted because it 1000 percent is but votes can't really be an argument at this point.
Whatever map is coming out next, they already started in June of this year, so if their decision wasn't to change the roadmap to Africa then, it's not gonna change now
VC or dms? They are practically dead with no new content. This is always active. The Arctic map āmy most wanted behind Africaā is literally people saying bump to get more upvotes. There is always new ideas in this thread
Iām going to be honest I wouldnāt be mad if we got an Arctic map but other than that I think my love for this game will disappear if I have to wait 6 months for a new map then it not be Africa then probably another year for Africa thats crazy to think about. This game is so good but that is so long to not get probably the most requested thing in cotw history
Don't worry Africa is coming at some point.
@mighty rampart if they decide not to do the big animals in Africa what is your list for wants in an Africa 2.0
I have a gut feeling the June 2025 map is not Africa šš but I so want to be wrong
Yeah I kinda agree. Iām scaredš
Wait no way we have input from ew_patrycja (I copied the name over because I didnāt know how to spell it right) now I was didnāt look here for like 3 days and I missed important input
American education system moment; I bet you're one of those who thinks the whole continent is a country š
As an American I agree about many of the US map's species being lackluster.
Our main draw is mountain game (like goats and sheep), upland fowl, and waterfowl. We have hardly any upland fowl, lackluster/insufficient waterfowl, and the goats and sheep look wonky/have unrealistic horns.
I'd honestly love something like a North American version of Revontuli where we have some river bottom woodlands with corn fields in like, Nebraska, along with a mix of short and long grass prairie. Then just make that map almost entirely waterfowl and upland fowl with a couple small/midsized terrestrial animals to round it out (and whitetail since they're obligatory at this point).
Be like me and be a fool civilly and be informed by people who actually know about it and learn
(I meant to reply to the guy being rude not you Zach)
This sounds good because it has that new variety of game that we need!
As for comments about āspammingā VC and DMs I donāt know what to say.
I brought It up a lot on VC plenty with guys I played with back in the first 2 months of our suggestions lifetime. Iāve been in SA since April ( we were around 340 votes) and not been in a vc since the so the growth has been entirely āorganicā but telling people about it in VC is perfectly fine?
Itās a null point, people will only upvote this if they actual want to⦠(no one has a gun to anyoneās head!)
As a Coloradan im especially ticked off by SRP
Its only bird is turkeys.....
we have more than 40 species of huntable fowl in the state
and we got one
no sandhill cranes, no ptarmigan, no partridge, no quail (please for the love of God backfill bobwhites onto SRP, they're native to the state), no ducks or geese at all
There is a lot of water on Srp for fowl too itās a shame
Tbh I kinda want a Michigan map to be like rev we got canvas back wood duck red head golden eye and sand hill cranes swans and loons but they may be a stretch
Someone from Minnesota. We donāt need that in cotw if anything they should add birds to older maps thatās less challenging
True agreed
add nine more birds to SRP
just backfill pheasants and bobwhites onto it along with the species of duck and geese that range thru the central flyway
IMO though we could also have a dedicated US fowl map thats an equivalent to Rev like I suggested
I think Layton should have pheasants and wolves but whatever turkey was good enough
Elk on Yukon needs to happen I feel like that and a sheep is what that map is missing
Letās get back to Afri-talk!
give nyala
me want more antelope
Yah for sure sorry
I was wondering and I didnāt jump to the conversation discussion on elephant rares
Would it be like albino Red and melanististic or something
I love their orange socks
Carcharodontosaurus Special Ancient One on Africa 2.0 when-
jokes aside even If i ever rarely talk in this thread I have so many ideas for Africa 2.0 map rosters lol
Please share them!
well, i don't actually have them typed out or written down lol. i need to get to doing that lol
i would like to see a lot of antelope species though, and i mean a LOT. elephants and nile crocs too
not a roster idea but new lion ai similar to that to the tigers would be really nice to see
being the paleontology nerd i am a mission centered around Permian Africa fossils would be neat to see too. we really haven't had anything like that since the Mammoth tusk and Cave Lion tooth on MedVed
on the topic of elephants and nile crocs, super-tusker diamond (or great ones) elephants and absolutely massive and bulky diamond nile crocs are something i'd really love to see. might not hunt the elephants myself tho because i really love elephants and would feel bad even tho it's a game š¤£
as for antelope, get me gazelles, Greater Kudu, eland, Black Wildebeest, (and many more) and ofc some returning species like Springbok and Blue Wildebeest
well, this or something from the Neogene or Pleistocene (Neogene and Pleistocene might honestly be better of a choice now thinking about it lol)
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1278571704838520904 (not advertising, just easier to show this for an elephant great one)
Much as I love the us and wish we had more seasons represented for the US maps. Africa just has straight up more potential for really new and unique animals. I'd love a Montana map that was pretty much srp winter with wolves and moose but o be totally honest I'd much rather have a scrub forest and swamp map with antelope and hippos
Show your Dream safari gun
Mine is the double barrel bolt action rifle
Honestly, something as simple as a beautifully engraved o/u or sxs rifle would be good enough for me, preferably based on this incredible piece.
Where do I buy. I would love a cosmetic pack like that! Someone need to make a feedback where the metal in the game has animal murals. Correction new cosmetic pack where you can manually change that
Itās a 1 of 1 lol, presumably with a lot of bartering
Yeah that makes sense that is the most bad a$$ gun engraving Iāve seen.
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1081883505186832524 should definitely check this out
Thatās awesome!
I'm stuck on a .318 WR
Looks super cool
Simple but flawless
Im personally partial to weatherbies, specifically this .416 that my uncle owns
Beautiful rifle
.425 WR would also be an incredible rifle to hunt with, I have to admit that I love this things design.
I'd take this model without the engraving or fancy wood stock tbh. It's unique and extremely interesting to me and I'd pair it with a W.M. Malcolm type of scope. Kind of rifle I'd happily carry for a elk/mule deer hunt just as well as through a fever tree forest
.375 from one of the rhinos I cut up today
From a poacher or a hunter who seriously screwed up. Or was it a legal and successful hunt and you just helped with the butchering
Poachers are bad⦠they Literally take there horn and thatās it?! Like tf
Poacher
Dang itā¦I was hoping it was the third option
Darn poachers
I sort of understand that they might think they have no other choice but it's still ridiculous and wasteful. Rhino horns, shark fins, and elephant tusks are not medically significant or particularly valuable and billions of people go through life just fine without even thinking about them but there's still some idiots who will pay a fortune for nothing but a feeling of being fancy because they have something rare essentially.
Humans really are the stupid primates
Itās the Chinese
I know their traditional medicine calls for it but they aren't the only ones. Some folks here in the US believe in it too and the ivory thing is a global symbol of wealth
I think we can all agree that since the .375 is coming by the end of this year, a bolt action .416 should be the map exclusive rifle for this map
Why is that slug in pristine condition?
These look sweet
epic!!!
The spotted one is absolutely gorgeous I'd love to see them
I want greater kudu. I was watching a stream from a month ago where jaxy said since we already have an Africa map there is other places they need to go. That just confused me why the devs would take that approach
The horns on those guys are amazing
Never gets old.
Considering all the attention this post has gotten and the interest from the devs I think attitudes are changing and they'll start to work on something if they haven't already started
Yeah but that stream was a month ago. It just seems weird they wouldāve started a map already
I love seeing the Africa exhibit and all the taxidermy at cabelas! One of my favorite places to be man
Back in the uk for a bit!, wonāt be giving you guys Awsome updates as much
How does the uk feel after all that time in South Africa? Depressing?
Cold!
Your no longer in short shorts country now
amazing
