#AFRICA BIG FIVE (Africa 2.0 + Class 10 Weapons) 🇿🇼🇿🇦
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
or the .338 even since it is so weak it's obv .338 win mag
man I wish .338 was buffed to like .338 ultra mag specs, would justify it as a 7-9 rifle while .300 mag can be moved down to 5-8 or something.
also move both bison down to class 8; they may be tough animals IRL but i don't think they're much tougher than moose, and they certainly don't approach yak/water buff/cape buff
Bison aren’t even tough, I trust .308 to get them done.
If you stay within the 'Effective Range' of the cartridge you should be fine.
.300WM vs Elephant is going to lead to someone getting killed and it’s not going to be the elephant.
Tehehehe 🤭🤫
Yes, a .577 tyrannosaur 🗿
Possible, but unlikely. It is a game. Maybe it'll inspire people to hunt legally in Africa. But the company appears to be on board with adding controversial animals with the release of Sundar
Try an elephant with a .300 and you will be laughed at by the ph, possibly slapped and taken back to the airport
Nothing wrong with hunting in Africa.
Don’t know where this stupid notion has come from
Anti hunter groups that painted hunting in Africa as unsporting, or just morally wrong…it’s stupid
If they do Africa 2.0 I just hope they DON'T add any annoying eurasian widgeon
turn down the birds
we should get that trending lol
Depends on the map, Africa no, Greenland yeah.
I mean like volume wise
idk if this is unrelated to this chat or not (probably not unrelated because one of the big five animals are elephants), but happy World Elephant Day y'all!
Woooooo!
@mighty rampart congratulations mate this is by far the biggest accomplishment on this server and an amazing one at that I feel bummed out to have missed out on this moment but I'm back now
AFRICA 2.0 🌍 🌍 🌍 🇧🇼🇿🇦🇿🇼🇿🇲🇳🇦🇲🇿!!!!!!!!!!!!!💪💪💪🐃🦒🦏🦛🐘🐆🦁
😭 I was so excited for the pk this year. I really want the 450Bush & 375H&H.
It will come in good time, at least we know that we are getting a proper African hunting rifle
I want it for Elk, Moose, & Bear personally. But if Africa 2.0 has more predators I'm defn. in. But your right its just the suspense is killing me 😆
I'd love the 375H&H in a Mauser 98 Anniversary such a gorgeous rifle. https://freerangeamerican.us/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/MauserRifle2-1-2048x926.jpg
Looks awesome
Hmm
Would be nice if they'd included how far it went into the shoulder but still cool
I'd like a 458 Win Mag
375 would be perfect for 6-9 as it's used irl
I would hope that this is at least in the planning stage if not development if not they are gonna kill their game with pointless USA maps
Amazing art
Really dude
Yeah but this is a deferent thread on a different subject, please keep the conversation about African related subjects
Does it matter? General isn't particularly on topic. Views don't need to be stifled just because you don't like them
Would appreciate if you remove this, my thread is not a advertisement board👍🏻
Although I do agree that we have enough American maps, bar the arctic
I want hippos so frikin much, imagine that on the wall in the African lodge
Related to future content I wouldn't mind additional PCP Big Bores like the .50cal or .72cal - Umarex or Aea. The Umarex Hammer .50cal is capable of taking down Eland so I don't see why not.
Airforce Texan would be cool. Saw blackbuck and whitetail hunts with it. 50 cal iirc
This is probably the best suggestion I have seen yet along side the Argentina waterfowl reserve👍👍👍🥶🥶🥶
Man I followed this at like 300 likes and now it’s at 1034 wild
Congrats to Wellington what a legend
Fr
I'll probably expand the river a bit before the dam or make the river behind it a bit drier
That looks absolutely insane 👍👍
Looks better every time I see it
where did you get the icons and stuff from? thought about making my own map concepts in general
Bit of an ask, but maybe add some species ranges in a translucent overlay?
Could be useful to determine where we find X species
I made everything from scratch, nothing was downloaded for the making of this map (except the original map ofc (#1195097534239088720 message)
I'm not as knowledgeable when it comes to ideal habitats for these animals and their actual potential, so I'll leave for someone who's a bit more experienced :)
ah ok
Say we do different coloured overlays for different species.
Elephants inhabiting the NW of the map in Nyota
Lions prevalent in most of the centeral regions, but not the mountains.
Leopards in all regions as those buggers get everywhere. Same with hyenas
Hippos on river areas in the north half of map
White Rhinos at bottom of centeral Savannah
Giraffes centeral Savannah, along with Zebra and blue wildBeasts, Impala.
Greater kudu in same region as elephants
Honey badgers in more higher areas
These are just rough ideas
I made some for a couple species when I just made the map before junbra completely innovated the map
of course these are how I myself imagined it, no discussions were made on the topic yet
just ignore the outpost and lookout point icons as they have been changed of course in junbra's version, as well as any other changes that have happened since this version of the map
I would put Kudu in the mountain regions.
also what an improvement of a map concept even though I do say so myself
Heat maps look good, ideally want elephants on the north as that’s above the dam line. Will be lots of lush areas of thick green vegetation
also by all means, hippo night time feed zones (00:00-04:00) a couple hundred meters away from the river
is that a micro galil in his hand? bro is absolutely done for if any animal decides to end him ☠️☠️☠️
It’s a dashprod, like an AK style rifle firing a 5.56
Was boutta say, looks like an AKS-74U with polymer furniture chambered in 5.56
the buttstock paired with it's magazine have managed to fool me
Earlier in the stream Jaxy mentioned how this got 1,000 likes
If you get a chance, I would like to see that map expanded a little bit, cause it looks really, really good, it's just I want them to take their time on this map and make it feel really big
does anyone have a clip of this?
I have a feeling that this may be the next map. We know that EW is willing to add species that are typically labeled as controversial, and elephants fit perfectly into that slot. Plus, there’s plenty of support backing this map.
there will be a lot of waiting though 😔
Here’s hoping.
I have been waiting years for a second African map
a lot of money involved that people are desperate to spend, they certainly know that after tiger
support for the map and suggested animals is explosive, especially in popularity 💸 💸💸.
We're going to reach 1500 votes in a few months, new target
Their excuse of we have to see y’all’s support is bs becuase there weee people asking for Africa 2.0 before vorhonga was released
I think Arctic is next imo
If that happens I wish they make this into a quick second if artic goes first
i think arctic, then either this or maybe some middle east map with marco polo or something
Yes
Marco Polo Sheep are Central Asia, not Middle East
you know what i mean lol
I know this would require a massive update on its own, just to get the map added but I sincerely hope we have a weapon rework before this comes out. I mean new ammo and better class system kind of update.
Also, a map this big and this badly wanted could probably introduce multiple weapons on its own. We'll have a .375 by the time this comes out but there are several other amazing rifles that could come with this
I do recall Jaxy saying Africa 2.0 is not on the road map (which extends to 2027 if I’m not mistaken). Although, they could be lying
Their plans may have changed considering how much support this thread has gathered nothing else had even come close to how active this thread has been
Road maps for EW last 14 months, was confirmed on stream by the devs a few months ago
Yeah towards the beginning of the stream
I've been looking and I'd like your thoughts on these as possible Africa 2.0 predators: T: 2 Caracal & Serval, T: 3 Honey Badger, T: 6 Spotted Hyenas, T: 7 or 9 Leopard(?), T: 9 Nile Crocodile.
I know you asked for Wellington, but I say 9 for Nile Crocs
I can agree to that since I just posted a reclass thread recently with Salt crocs to 9.
Leopards should be more a 6
Absolutely would not stand under that thing, my luck the chain the would break and drop it on me
I originally was thinking 7
Idk what do all of you think a Leopard should be Tiered under realistically?
7-8
Can anyone link the original post so I can get back up to the top, can't even remember what the species were supposed to be lol
I would rate it 7 for alligator, 8 for Nile crocodile and 9 for saltwater crocodile as it is a much heavier animal.
and I think it would give more class variety for hunt
thank you & your thoughts on the others I suggested?
This could literally be the first reserve with multiple weapon additions, classic Safari rifles and modern ones both. Wouldn't mind seeing them as rewards for side missions. Like a single shot being offered fro a series of one shot kill missions, a double for close ranges and a general bolt action
Happy with them all, the general view I have on predators is that the clavier they are assigned should not necessarily only factor in their mass, but also the risk they pose to a hunter. You want an assurance that you can put something down and not have it keep going. To murrr you
True. I figured I'd suggest around 6 or so predators ranging from T: 2, 3, 6, 7, & 9 classes that are native to Africa to coincide with the new reserve as well as possible adds later to the Savanna reserve. Between these 6 n the 2 in Savanna I would be a lot more inclined to play them. Plus, it's a lot more natural in an ecosystem for a balance & feels more Authentic.
I think this is a good idea especially if the map has a somewhat lengthy amount of missions you could manage to fit this and mission animals I think someone said like maneating lions and an old bull elephant who was causing problems, could be a really cool way to introduce some of the weapons before unlocking them fully
The idea is that the maps side missions come with a good reward cause we've had to wait so long. That double I mentioned? Reward from an old time PH with trouble animals, you drop an old rogue bull elephant and he figures you've earned it. The Single shot could be from the land owner or something like that, you help out enough times and he thinks you're good enough to earn it. Something that makes the missions and backtracking or hassles worth it
i might make my own map idea for Africa 2.0 and post it here later. idk yet tho
Cuarto did this with the Rayo it was lengthy n a pain but so rewarding after to get it. You also got the 22-250 in EC, the pump shotgun Rancho Campaign, & the 577 in nepal as a side mission.
Hell yeah definitely a better idea than mine lol
The rayo was murder to get and not much of a reward because of the cartridge. I'm hoping they'll do us right this time around
I love the Rayo but it needs a serious rework like I suggested in my thread. But I agree it was torture to get but I cant help but love it.
Anybody with experience in Africa, I gotta ask, how were the bugs? I just talked with a SA tourist and he said body armor wouldn't help lol
Fine during the winter, but lots more mozzies, scorpions, spiders etc in the summer months
Also depends on how high up you are
Winter is definitely the time to go
Saw cool spiky spider that looked like it crawled out of a horror film…also stumbled into a tick nest and had a couple go into my beard but all in all bug problem wasn’t that bad
Lol
I'm fine with bugs, they're just a fact of life. What worries me is the thorns, I've gotten tangled in enough greenbrier to make a fence for the YO ranch
Wear boots with a good soul, and don’t grab a branch with your hands. So many people complain about the thorns but I wasn’t too bothered by them
As a north Canadian I can tell you I HATE bugs especially when the blackflies, deerflies, horseflies and mosquitos all gang up now obviously I think the mosquitos in Africa are bigger and have more nasty stuff they can transfer but blackflies are the Bain of my existence
you ever heard of the Greater Prairie Robberfly?
Yup thank god I only go in Saskatchewan when it's too cold for them
They are the ones that are larvae layers like botflies but worse right?
Or are robberflies the ones that eat dragonflies and have a septic bite
thank God is right cause those things are the devil 💀
for those who aren't aware, the Giant Prairie Robber Fly is a 2-3 inch long carnivorous fly that kills with a neurotoxin;
While nonthreatening to people the bites hurt like hell and they kill and eat horseflies, deerflies, grasshoppers, locusts, cicadas, crickets, butterflies, dragonflies, and adult hummingbirds
Okay yeah the battery biters because being bitten feels like someone injected battery acid into your wound
yup, them
Worst thing right now is we have invasive European hornets making homes here now and yeah they hurt more than bald faced hornets and actively seek you out for existing within the same area as them
euro hornets are evil
Although i suppose we can take solace in bald faced hornets being indiscriminate solitary predators that kill anything that flies or walks around them
I know I love expressly because they feed on black horseflies
Gah, bugs
There I was peacefully barbecuing some bison burgers when I heard and actually felt the low pitch buzzing and then felt a tap immediately followed by a sting before I could even think of moving my hand to see what hit me on the back of my neck
Euro hornets are mean
Flew into me and stung me I didn't even provoke a sting like what happens with bees
Infact all hornets and wasps usually do that type of stuff to me
yeah, especially the social ones
It's partly why i like bald-faced's so much, the ones in my area could give a damn you exist so long as you don't threaten them
The ones in my area are aggressive, couple years back had some under our hunting trailer make a nest and when we would move our ATVs, fishing boats or even mow the lawn no where near the hunting trailer but in our yard as far away as possible we would get swarmed it was a not fun although they removed a yellow jacket nest despite being outnumbered 3-1
Get the flamethrower. . .
No seriously, I'm allergic so these things are a death sentence if I don't nuke them first
ah, completely different experience from me
the ones around my house follow me to nab the horse and deer flies that harass me while I do yard work
One time on landed on my head and used my hair as cover to ambush a black horsefly
Literally tackled it, turned it over, and decapitated it in a single fluid motion, was crazy to see
took maybe half a second for it to complete the kill
At our place we saw 3 dismantle a BIG dock spider was like a gang of Crocs sharing a zebra
metal as hell
Being a bug is kinda like playing Doom.
but on ultra nightmare and IRL
One landed on the dock and was "exploring the cracks" or acting as bait then the other two were orbiting like 2 feet off and then when the spider attempted to get the first one they all jumped in stung the hell out of the spider and split it and took off
I'm kinda sad I actually get this comparison, makes me feel like a nerd
even if it makes you a nerd you are a cool nerd because you played literally any DOOM game
Would it surprise you if I said I played the SNES version of doom 2?
Nah earth defense force where we get to kill bigger bugs
Instead of the Plains of the Serengeti it's the Dock outside Javemeister's House 💀
If I still had my old iPhone (it's in the bottom of the Ottawa River) I'd share the video
yesn't
I mean it's not suprising I just forgot Doom 2 had a SNES version because I have the attention span of a dragonfly 😂
Get the team ready
Siting here talking about bugs and for some reason my brain just goes "MEERKATS" and I have this vague memory about a meerkat chilling on a camp cot
Honestly don't know where the memory even came from, maybe a book or magazine article but I remember the author being happy to have them roaming around their camp
Original PC Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, & Wolfenstien 🤟 🤣
It's in 300+ feet of water and since they built a dam all the water is pitch black from all the trees, veg and sediment
Oh and undertow is CRAZY
Hmmm
Hey, just occurred to me but has their been any mention of the background ambience? Like the sort of animals you hear just being out there? That and the music they use for this map?
Not yet
Let’s discuss
Aside from not wanting to hear ducks, at all, I'm not really sure what it should sound like. I felt like the angler had good ambience but on tikamoon it doesn't sound like much of anything
occasional musquito in the ear
@mighty rampart Should be as simple as Googling what bird assemblages are there
Vague bird noise 36.mp3 on loop would be a failure
I want leucistic giraffes in my trophy lodge
They’re so cool
🤯🤯🤯they would probably have to make a new lodge for giraffes and elephants because they wouldn't fit on the XXL mounts lol
Better fonts and water
I'll try to work on the scaling now since it makes the map look really small
I made a thread to remedy for everyone however its up to the community if the want it or not
They could just add mount options to sasika. Massive time saver
Looks even better every time I see it
Dang with your map designing skill you should work for EW that looks legit
Not really
And rework spring creek
Yeah that would work better and look cool
Why don't you work for EW🤦♂️🤦♂️ if you was on the team we would actually get some nice maps fr, only thing is tho the river looks really wide nearing the top of the map. Will it be shallow water or deep or a mix of both?
River looks really good, wet realistic to things I’ve seen
- I think EW's map designs are mostly fantastic
- Please, I don't want this map design to be compared to actual in game maps, keep in mind that it's just a proof of concept
- There's so much that has to go into creating a map, this is literally a 2D image and it is nowhere near the work and ideas of a fully realised map (terrain, vegetation, textures, animal models, audio design, missions, structures design and much more! Keep it fair)
-# I do not want to see any disrespect towards the developers!!!!
Consider it proof that this map is genuinely wanted and people are excited for it. We're not trying to undermine the devs, only show them just how badly we want this map to be a reality.
To be honest, a map like this would probably take 2-3 years to make fully fleshed out. Particularly if they do take the suggestions to make this map larger than all the others, with multiple weapons or unique rewards. To be completely honest, I'm fine with that.
Two years for a gorgeous stretch of bushveld we'll be happily exploring years after development stops doesn't strike me as a bad thing.
Just give them time and support, it'll be worth the wait
K thanks I just didn't know
1:1 scaled map (it doesn't look as small now yayy)
looking at it like this shows me new ways to improve the overall layout of the structures (houses, towers..) so i'll definitely do that next
This makes me so hyped
Original concept?
Just overall seeing a map we don’t have it’s cool that people have gone this far with this suggestion
🔥
bull giraffes can weigh up to 2800 pounds, that's quite a lot larger than a cape buffalo. saying they should be a class 8 which is below a lion is silly. theyd be class 9 atleast
more than 2800lbs actually, bulls are recorded to exceed 1900kg, which is about 4,200lbs
yeah, putting a giraffe in the same class as a bear and moose is just plain dumb, theyd 100% be class 9 or even 10, they are bigger than any class 9 we currently have in game
You don’t need to go around calling people dumb
We’ve chatted about giraffe classes since the thread was made back in march and the consensus is that they are to be class 10
It’s not been updated yet
didnt call you dumb i just said one thing that you wrote i found to be dumb
Cool cheers for that meaningless take,
You do also realise that the calibres people use to shoot giraffe are akin to those used to shoot Moose?
No of course you don’t. Because you don’t know anything about African hunting
The giraffes weight is mostly made up by it’s massive leg bones, not by muscle.
The amount of organic material that a round needs to pass into the vitals of a giraffe is akin to a moose.
- With certain loads can be used sportingly on moose
👀🍿
seems like youre a little offended, how could you now be justifying them in the same class as a moose when you already said they'd be a class 10 and you hevent got around to updating it yet. obviously people would use calibers on both a moose and giraffe, you do realize in real life people go around hunting mule deer and white tail with 300 win mag, when in the game its way overkill. that clearly shows the class isnt going to be fully depended on the real life calibers used, its also going to be in relation to weight and other animal classes in the game. you should not be using a 6.5 or 270 on a 4000 pound giraffe.
same here lmao
Make your own post then.
calibers used to shoot giraffe such as 375 H&H magnum can be used on moose (so hopefully when its added in the community pack its rated 8-9) but many calibers usable on a moose are illegal for a giraffe.
like @lucid flame said, make your own post then. it's not gonna be anywhere near as popular or logical as this one tho
because i think the creator put 1 number differnt then to what i think? not sure i understand at all
why would me disagreeing with 1 small number that the creator already said they were going to change mean i should make my entire own idea of an Africa map, that makes little sense. you like this post so much that youre meaninglessly defending a tiny peice of feedback
never said i could create a better post then this, its great. theres just one number that i disagree with, in that case you give feedback you dont go off and spend 2 hours making your own post
It is giving you your own platform for that idea and see if there are other who are agreeing with you.
👆
giving feedback on the post about one different number is just as effective and faster than writing a whole post about how giraffes should be a different class compared to this post
also, y'all remember these prehistoric animal logos i made like over year ago? been thinking about making some for some African animals and posting them here. not sure yet tho
these are actually impressive
agreeded with bonzu, why would i create an entire post about how someone elses post has a differnt number than to what i think
thank ya
giraffe would be kind of wonky to draw tho
These were nice! Still love your work.
Hey fellas this is no longer getting anywhere, all this arguing over a couple of numbers is dumb
is that a mastodon? the small tusks has me confused. i know the cave lion and long horned bison
The logo would be all neck
I like the lion icon wayyy more than the one ingame atm.
the elephant is Deinotherium sp., the lion is the American Lion (Panthera atrox), and the bison is the Steppe Bison (Bison priscus)
ah i see that makes sense. dienotheruim has the lower jar tusks as apposed to tradiotional tusks on a elaphant or wooly mammoth
thanks!
yeah
since this is zimbabwe, then eland should be added, if they havent been suggested yet
Remade some roads 👍
Do it
100% man if you have the time we would love to see these
I'll try to do what I can. I have many ideas for other art pieces + i start school tomorrow so im not gonna have as much time, but i'll try to cook some stuff up for y'all when i can
Stop trying to rev people up.
It's not me who wants them at 10, which is another additional reason why it's not been updated yet.
Not offended just disappointed with your Piss poor attitude from the get go.
You can behave or leave, don't want people like you in our Africa communtiy
In the last 6 months your the first to come in here and behave like that
But your still welcome to contribute, let’s move on
Giraffe.
somebody get this to a museum
Whenever you have the time dude 😁
👍
Would think a profile like this would be better
Every time I see this it gets better and better
It looks like that bird from UP but who’s just sad
is there an acacia forest somewhere on the map? or will it just be a few trees here and there where giraffes and other animals will graze. sausage trees should also be feed zones for zebras and other animals that eat them
Its judging us
Sable are so fun to watch
I wanted to mix it up a little, make it a little different from the current ones we have
All for that dude, let’s see what megatron can come up with in his spare time
@topaz trellis I can see you typing up an essay down there, if it’s carrying on that argument I’m not entertaining it.
holy smokes i didn't think i hurt anyone or did anything wrong. all i did was voice my opinion that i (and apparently many others) believe they should be at least class 9. and how was i revving people up by defending my point and the fact i should give feedback here instead of whole new post. i came into this post and gave one piece of feedback and was told that "you know nothing about African hunting" "you have a piss poor attitude" "people like me aren't wanted in the Africa community" "and I'm the first person to behave like that in 6 months" implying that I'm some sort of crazy disrespectful person for using the word dumb about an animal not in the same video game tier i think it should be in. doesn't seem like a welcoming friendly response to feedback. did you insult everyone else's knowledge who said giraffes should be tier 9 or 10 ? because you did say that the general consensus was that, so i don't know why me agreeing with most people means i know nothing. sorry for using the word dumb though, i never called you dumb however, and didnt mean to offend you or say you knew nothing about the topic
See my previous response let’s move on, your more than welcome to partake here.
My first time seeing live females
My first time seeing females
Woaaahhhhhhh they're cool
I like how wonky the one one the right looks 🙂
Heck I have even heard of .243 being used on them
Best tasting antelope?
Impala
I would live to See them add a africa 2,0 to the Game
nile lechwe
Amen
In my experience, Nilgai and Scimitar Oryx are a tie for first. They’re both incredibly tasty.
Nilgai and Sable are really great, My Dad says Kudu is one of his favorite meats(he also says Zebra is insanely good, but that’s not an antelope), And lot of people would say eland is the best tasting.
ik giraffe doesnt count but i like it more than antelope
Heard them called the whitetail deer of Africa, all over the place and good eating. I kinda like the idea of them and a blesbok or some kind of Hartebeest being the general "anywhere on the map" animals for Africa 2.0.
They kinda seem like the best animal a hunter could just decide to go after when he just woke up on a nice cool morning.
Impala are by far the most common thing you will see out in limpopo
Pretty much everywhere. I’ve heard them be described as the McDonalds of the savanna. My dad and I call them yadas, because every time we saw a group we would say yada yada.
At some point you just start tripping over them
Hey, I wouldn't complain. They maybe aren't the heaviest antelope out there but that just means you have more excuses to hunt
Getting a diamond impala would be a lot of fun to get
as much as I love impalas, greater kudu are just greater
would giraffe trophy rating be weight or height? also imagine hearing them hum in the middle of the night while you’re hunting
probably the length/circumference of the ossicones
yeah but most males are chosen based on height their neck size by the females since they usually win with that, not the ossicones. this was from when i lived in sudan though, so j dont know about zimbabwean giraffe
For IRL hunting it’s based on how dark their fur is. The darker the giraffe the older
i always thought it was based off of height, but most of my observations from giraffe were when me and my friend heard them fighting, and went over to record it to show to our parents
You know, I'd freaking love to see a page like this for certain animals on new maps, it would be a really cool way to introduce certain animals or even show a gun and recommended animal classes for it
Agree with ya there
Oh the days, back when common was a fur type and you had to spine shot diamonds
I wish you could pin posts in threads
Because it's a pain to scroll up
Randomly click around the title and eventually it will scroll you all the way to the top
Oh also, do a big QoL update for all the African animals coming into this map
Buffalo, lion, wildebeest, and the kudu model, assuming they're gonna reuse it to make its bigger cousin
I'm also curious about how many resources EW has and what animals can easily be recycled. Even the saltwater crocodile can be remodeled into a Nile croc or the puma into a leopard with new sounds
Cougars and leopard are way to different, it would be better to make a new model for leopard than work with the cougar model
I assume they have a base felid model
I'd say the biggest priority is the class 10 animals, the giraffe, and zebra since those are the really recognisable, big ticket animals and they need to look good
probably a base rig for general animations but not a base model, there's too many phenotypic differences between all the big cats
I'm also trying to think of what's a reasonable number of animals to want from this map
Because I could theoretically ask for 40 but that'd be unreasonable
15-19 species, including some pretty major big tickets should be doable
New or including Vurhonga species?
total, including vurhonga so we can have the whole Big Five and get both lions and cape buffalo remodeled
although i think leaving the smaller and medium game animals in vurhonga would be best so they still have some uniquity
also, Vurhong only has 10 animals total, it could absolutely benefit from some more medium and small game species, especially upland fowl
•African Elephant Class 10
•Hippopotamus. Class 10
•Rhinoceros. Class 10
•Cape Buffalo. Class 9
•Giraffe Class 8
•Nile Crocodile. Class 8
•Eland. Class 8
•Nyala. Class 7
•African Leopard. Class 7
•Zebra. Class 6
•Wilderbeest. Class 6
•Spotted Hyena
•Kudu. Class 6
•Springbok. Class 4
•Impala. Class 4
Warthog. Class 3
•Baboon. Class 2
Aviation (All Class 1)
• Lemon dove
• Red Billed teal
• Egyptian Geese
• Yellow billed duck
Feedback required
• African Ostrich
• Honey Badger
This is what Wellington originally posted as a species list, and it is perfectly doable with a bit of trimming
Although, it is 23 animals in total, with the current highest being Revontuli Coast with 19
if this is given a significant amount of confined developmental focus this entire list could be done if around 18 months is taken between reserves
Here's what I'm thinking
If it's too overwhelming, you can do batches
- African bush elephant
- Southern white rhinoceros
- Black rhinoceros
- Common hippopotamus
- Lion
- Cape buffalo
- African leopard
- South African giraffe
- Chapman's zebra
- Greater kudu
- Impala
- Sable
- Nile crocodile (edited salties)
- Southern ostrich
- Blue wildebeest
- Spotted hyena
- Warthog
- Chacma baboon
- Eland
- Nyala
- Helmeted guineafowl
I also have ideas of what to do with Vurhonga itself; changing the vegetation to be more desert/arid savannah and theming it around Namibia to offer a different experience
Imagine a map like Tikamoon Plains in WotH
Add ostrich, cheetah, black wildebeest, etc.
I'm fine with ostrich seems like a fun addition
seems like a great list to me, although my personal preferences lean towards Lord Derby's Eland in particular
would definitely like to see ostriches included though, but Idk if I can justify swapping any of those for it
Yes, the map should be focused on the largest animals in Africa, which are the most popular ones, coming along with a class 10 weapon to unlock during the Big Five hunting story, remodeling lion and cape buffalo as extra
could save ostrich for a third african reserve focused on medium to small sized plains game later on
Maybe give vurhonga some love by making it an African Revontuli by throwing in a lot of upland game like doves and the other birds that Wellington originally listed?
Wrong part of Africa
LDE's are from Central/Western Africa
Oh yeah that's right this is Botswana so it's common eland, which are still plenty large since the bulls can reach 1,000 kilos 👍
Tho after this African map, a Cameroon map could be added
Agreed, and some much needed updates (mainly remodels) could come to Vurhonga with this, assuming it's added as a reserve
Plus birds other than wigeon on Vurhonga would be nice, especially since the Eurasian Wigeon shouldn't even be there in the first place.
For reference about Eurasian Wigeon being out of place in Vurhonga, their furthest southern extent is Northern Tanzania along the shores of Lake Victoria. Them being in Vurhonga puts them roughly 1,600 to 1800 miles further South than they ever feasibly could be depending on whether we consider Vurhonga to be South Africa or Botswana.
Also the waterfowl ruin the atmosphere of maps
Only some, they help on rev
Too loud
Yeah way too loud no matter the distance
they should be significantly quieter; I've seen eurasian and north american wigeon irl and while they are vocal during flight they are maybe a third or a quarter of their volume in game
they can be pretty noisy when feeding but that's restricted to whatever lake they're in
nothing like being completely unable to hear the kudu i'm hunting because everything is being drowned out by the sounds of insufferable ducks that shouldn't even be on the reserve
Exactly
Yeah the main problem is the balancing of the sound
It’s more unrealistic than having Blacktail Deer on SRP lmao
by a gargantuan stretch lol
I wouldn’t say that. I feel like they definitely add a great atmosphere for certain maps (Mississippi, Revontuli, Layton, etc) and ruin it for others (mostly Vurhonga).
Even then, it's way WAY too loud when they're rly far
The ducks ruin my safari immersion(and the fact that lesser kudu and springbok are on the same map also ruins the immersion)
Yeah here's what I'd do after the Zimbabwe map is done
Make Vurhonga a Namibia map with springbok and other Kalahari endemics
Make an Ethiopian map for lesser kudu and other East African species, including the mountain nyala
I'm in that "ruined the map" camp
That I can agree with
Not necessarily. If they are placed in sensible locations like say… swamps or rivers instead the middle of savanna’s it wouldn’t hurt.
Yeah their implementation needs to be improved drastically
Because them just being everywhere is annoying
they should be in those boggy areas to the very south and in pockets along the river
-# although i would prefer if the wigeon weren't there at all
I'd give my kidneys to replace the wigeon with guineafowl
I'll add one of mine too
As far as Vurhonga goes I would have rathered they did a waterfowl species native to Southern Africa but at this point I'll take something like Cape Teal alongside Helmeted Guineafowl
Put my appendix on that list as well
Found the top
the top is also currently a pinned message as well if that helps with finding and reading it again in the future
It just randomly took me to the top, so I figured why not
Yo, I just traded for a .22 mag bolt action with a bull barrel. Already have a lever gun I love but I started wondering. Could I hunt any of the tiny ten with it? I'd love to see more class 2 herbivores (Africa is basically the only hope for them tbh) so I was wondering.
Is there even opportunities for rimfire rifles in Africa?
I wouldn’t recommend it unless you were in a survival situation. For the tiny ten(and other small game) I hear 223 or 243 are good choices
Unless you’re trip was dedicated to plunking monkeys or other pests, then a 22 would be good
I think you forgot greater kudu, u might want to add it one more time 🤣, it’s number 10 and number 14 man 👍
hey we can remove the duplicate kudu and replace it with ostrich 😂
We all know this is never going to happen…..but…It would be crazy cool to see this happen
me want
Multi mount🙏
It would be such a cool multi mount!
could be named like worlds collide or something
how about Duel of Kings?
10x better
Bump
What class would the African Cheetah Be?
I’d say a 7,
Not dangerous enough to warrant a larger calibre and they’re light things
Ik you live in Africa and you know better but I would think a class more aligned with snow leopards but I could be completely wrong
Tbh, I think cheetahs and ostriches can be saved for the Vurhonga redux
Those two animals would help justify the map's existence with the addition of a big 5 map
What about a 6? They seem like they'd be kinda light for 7s. The only hunts I read about they used .243s. I'm fine with 7 just because that's not that huge but I dislike that brown bears are a 7s too
Cheetahs should be 4, their body is made for running, they are not very physically strong or robust
I know they aren't built for fighting, they are probably the lightest large predator in Africa but I think 4 is too low for leopards. I know they are small, I get that, but I still think 6 would be fine
cheetah 4, I didn't say leopard, the structure of both is very different
Think he just got the names mixed up👍🏻
I noticed
No, I meant leopards, I think they should be class 6 too, same as a cheetah. Neither one is large or particularly suited to fighting but I don't think class 4 fits either
classifying cheetahs together with leopards and pumas is absurd, it makes no sense at all
mainly cheetahs, they are not resistant animals or with high attack power, their hunting consists of taking down their prey by running mainly, there is no point in using strong weapons
Yes but I didn't say anything about cougars. There's a dude in my gun club who hunts them over dogs and uses a .22 magnum. I think he's a dipsh*t. BUT
if anything I'd have cougars, black bear, and Grey wolves as class 7 and brown bears in class 8 with grizzlies
remember that there is a snow leopard in the game, which is much more resistant in real life than a cheetah, it falls from high places in mountains and comes out intact when it takes down its prey.
brown bear is a huge mistake for EW to put it as 7, it never made sense
The classes are jacked up anyway you look at it.
Anyway, the way an animal hunts has nothing to do with how it reacts to a bullet. But at class 4 theyre barely a step above lynxes and i don't think they'd be quite that easy to down. At class 6 they'd still be in range of the .243 but out of the .223 and .22-250 (argument of its own)
Personally, I wouldn't mind a cat order •Serval (2) -26lbs •Lynx (3) - 60lbs •Snow Leopard (4) - 120lbs •Puma (5) - 175lbs •Cheetah (6) - 160lbs •Jaguar (7) - 210lbs •Lions (8) - 420lbs •Tigers (9) - 680lbs. <---Thoughts???
You missed bobcats but sure
I would reverse puma/mountain lion with cheetah
bobcats are a 3 above 30lbs with lynx servals are under max weight & size
agreed, especially since large adult mtn lions exceed 210lbs
Lions and tigers imo should both be class 9 since they were hunted with big bore express rifles frequently IRL, such as the .400 and .500 NEs that also saw use on buffalo and rhino
Jaguars should be the class 8 cat, since the large males can approach and possibly exceed 300lbs
African leopard would arguably be class 7 despite being smaller overall than mtn lions in terms of maximum size (adult males max at around 200-205 lbs). I'd again place them in class 7 due to the large bore rifles they were hunted with IRL as it seems leopards are "tougher" in some manner and their physiology doesnt take damage from mid-ringe calibers in the same way, given how many were shot with express rifles or .375s out of an apparent need to kill them faster
I gave cheetahs a slight adv. due to there speed factor but pumas are more aggressive
redux on the jaguar, the largest known male was almost 350lbs, definitely make it a class 8
Valid points just figured I'd suggest 2-9 Cat list
it is a very good list, and I can definitely see where it comes from, I just think the big names (lions, tigers, jaguars, etc) need higher classes because they are infamous for taking hits that could kill a bear where it stood and surviving long enough to kill a man
lion and tiger are the only ones that will react frantically after a shot and go in a z towards the hunter due to adrenaline, that's why high caliber weapons if I'm not mistaken, killing on the spot saves lives.
leopard and mountain lion could actually attack, even more so people short in height, but cheetah would just run away and is not strong, so class 4-5 makes more sense for it
OK, here's a question. I've hunted with a .22 mag for a few years, it's only slightly below the .22H but I've easily downed bobcats, coyotes, and beavers between 40 and 60 pounds. Out of those 3 the beaver is the most "dense" animal. If we have caracal or serval in the new map and either is class 3 then would you want the .22h changed to 1-3?
Keep in mind the .22H uses 40 grain bullets, exactly the same weight as .22 mag and lon rifle
I respect that and I aknowledge big bores for T -8 game as well and I took irl behavior into account bc lions are pride based but mostly distant unless provoked. Jags & Tigers different ball game.
.22H has been used to kill 50lb lynxes in europe to mu knowledge and caracals are bobcat sized, maybe a max of 28lbs in weight
most of their size comes from their leg length since they hunt ground birds and rodents in long grass, so i'd argue you could make .22H 1-3 and then make caracal class 2
I think I adjusted the 22H as a 1-3 I believe caracel are a 3 I checked thats why I suggested the serval
African leopards and snow leopards are very different
valid, I'm approaching distinctly from how physically tough these cats are, how likely they are to maul you (whether injured or not), and the types of calibers used to kill them IRL, so I lean towards making the two largest living cats class 9 with the 3rd place (jaguar) class 8
sry I wasn't specific I had jungle/safari leopards in mind not the snow
Yes, it's no wonder it's in the big five, they are unpredictable with local people
Nerd Moment
Fun Fact: It has been genetically proven that snow leopards are not only not phylogenetically true leopards, but are a distinct animal that is genetically very close to modern tigers. Moreover, molecular genetic studies have also proven that at some point in the last 10,000 years snow leopards extensively interbred with asiatic lions in at least two large interbreeding events. What's even more interesting is those pairings produced fertile offspring, as there are surviving asiatic lion genetics within living snow leopard populations.
Never knew that, very interesting
African leopard being difficult to find on the map would be interesting, being silent with food zone alternating between trees, what do you think?
☝I'm aware did a study briefly some years back n worked with all the cats at Henry Doorly it was fun I'll admit.
To be honest, EW not explaining what they based the ammo on makes figuring out decent classes for animals and weapons a nightmare. It also doesn't help the ammo is inconsistent between weapons
with special trees you could place baboons and leopards as animals that use them as a resting/feeding area 🤔
Thats why I did the reclass chart if ammo wont be added atleast the re-class can be added as a fix.
I'm hoping this community weapon pack is the excuse they use for a big ammo change.
I'm seriously worried they'll make the .375 a crappy upgrade on the .338 and not let it show its real use
Think the ammo argument is all fairly low priority, as long as the rifles we use cover the class it really doesn’t matter too much.
Not a prefect answer but how I generally see it
If your not apposed I can show my re-class for the calibers? I also adjusted for T-10 realistically
it's compounded by the fact that the snow leopard very much earns the title of "Ghost of the Mountain" in every way feasible, as we are totally unaware of precisely when/where/how they split from their last common ancestor with tigers as they sort of just, appear suddenly in the fossil record, as if they're ghosts.
It also doesn't help that our best guesstimate for the divergence is somewhere between 2.5 and 3.7 million years ago somewhere in a several hundred million square mile area in central and western Asia.
In addition they have also hybridized with multiple subspecies of leopard (along with lions as mentioned earlier) in the past when their ranges overlapped. We know this because of shared mitochondrial DNA, which points to the surviving hybrid genomes coming from pairings where a male snow leopard mated with a female lion or asiatic leopard. This also possibly indicates that the only possible fertile pairings required the mother to be a lion or leopard with the snow leopard as the father.
Plus there's the added physical aspect of how does a 450lb adult male lion (for instance) mate with a 65lb female snow leopard without crushing her to death?
-# nerd moment over, ima stop clogging the thread with my fun facts lol
375 will be another generic weapon like the others, lottery. If they make Africa 2.0 I believe they will release a bundle Africa 1 + Africa 2 + new weapons with .375, it would be good marketing
Africa 2.0 would definitely be their most profitable DLC. It doesn’t make sense why they didn’t make another African map earlier, like are they allergic to money or something?
Who ever said it had to be an adult lion?
fair, although even if we just draw the line at a technically reproductively mature dispersal male it'd still be a 240lb animal mounting a 60lb one and I just can't see that going anything other than badly for the female 😂
you seen my chart I think it would be a healthy fix
That's what I think, holding back to use as a last card up your sleeve is a terrible idea, I believe that's what they thought in the past, leaving Africa 2 for when the game has few players and thus attracts them again, but recently I believe they saw that it's a bad idea and opened their eyes due to the huge hype
3 big releases overtime is the way to go as of now we have Jungle/Amazon - Africa - Artic/Canada as the big requests they'd be smart to release 1 every other or 2 reserves at this point while adding more caliber options as well as gear with mechanic/ai behavior elements.
I believe that Jaxy mentioned at some point this was the original plan; they were gonna make it the last reserve and have it basically be the last hurrah of their long term development funds as a super explosive end for the game for when it had trailed off before leaving it restricted to odd annual free content releases afterwards like Classic
with this post they can see there's a market for, what do you guys think, at least three or four more African reserves right?
That was when they were doing 2 maps a year,if they slow down to 1 and put more time into it no one would really complain if they charged more for it.
Personally rather have 1 really good map than 2 meh ones
agreed; they have slowed down to 1 since NEM and it's been a huge improvement
I mean it gave us EC and Sundar
Honestly not a fan of Sundarpatan, but EC was the best thing they ever made for me. I'd honestly have no issue paying 20.00 for a really good map with multiple weapons or 15.00 for a map with one weapon. But I'm a gun nut so I'm extremely biased
I can see two more southern maps, one western, and one eastern
yes, one map per year gave us more unique animals, emerald gave us 8 unique ones, sundarpatan 10, so I believe they have a lot of time to create models and make animations (they are more difficult than making a map, just observe other games doing it live) in 1 year, I believe Africa 2.0 should increase even more, it reminds me of a passage, I think from Machiavelli, where it talks about doing "something" just once to have enough impact.
Agreed 1 good detailed reserve with a reserve weapon & the packs released are related to the reserve or they release packs prior as a teaser then the big reveal of the reserve.
I can get behind that but I kinda want to see an Ethiopia based map. Aside from how incredible the terrain is there's amazing cultures and some unique animals.
I can see •2 western: Dedicated Upland Bird w/ pointer dog (RC was dedicated Waterfowl) - Texas gated w/small game tracker dog •2 southern Amazon - Africa •2 northern: Arctic - Greenland & 2 Eastern
I don't know if anyone else would care for this but here goes.
Stick to 1 map for the year with a generic gear pack or something for the first release, middle year we get a pack that is generally themed toward the location of the map, a few weeks before the map just post a picture of one animal. That's it don't do walk-through or streams. Just keep quiet and let the map speak for itself
A Highlands to a Massi land map would be crazy fun
Same concept but applied to weapons.
If there's a reserve weapon you can just buy, sure talk about it. If there's a unique variant rewarded for a mission or side mission, don't say a thing. Let it be a surprise. Might be a little hard for Jaxy to actually no talk about it but you get the idea
🤣 so true but I always enjoyed the thought of exclusive reserve calibers & pack releases associated with the new reserve release(s). It makes sense to do it this way
I had this idea a while ago, but if we got a reserve with a weapon as standard an they actually did 2 weapons without EVEN HINTING there was a second weapon locked in the story or side missions then I'd be much happier.
Say Africa 2.0 comes with a bolt action .416 or something, you play as normal and at some point you get a call from the Warden and he says somebody left you a reward at some outpost or another. You get there and there's a .375 single shot rifle propped up in the corner. It's a caliber we already have (or will have) but you had no idea it existed until you found it.
Absolutely freaking amazing. If you're one of those nuggets who find it first and put it all over discord I hope you stub your pinky toe every day for the rest of your life, you absolute GOBLIN
A hidden reward would be awesome, but you know as well as I do once its found its going viral 😓 but I love the idea.
I would really like a secret weapon for completing all missions, imagine a secret weapon for getting trophies for all the big five. My idea is 5 secondary missions for each of the big five (heart shot/gold, 300 meters)
I know, too many loot goblins. . .
~~give me a jacket made of an albino lion with teeth from every animal on the map around the garment 🤣 ~~
Lock it behind something that doesn't look like a challenge.
Soil conservation: cull overpopulated impala (120)
After the mission completes: Warden: I appreciate the help with the herds, I've been worried the grass wouldn't recover out there, I left something for you troubles at Outpost X. .270 Falling block with impala head engraved on receiver laying on a camp table
love it
I very much look forward to hartebeest hunting, would like to try with a bow or lever action rifle
(Totally unsure why, but I feel like this thing deserves to only be hunted with the longbow or a lever action)
This is the ultimate book for African hunting
Cannot recommend it enough, also comes in a miniature field version
just gonna say there is a reason cheetahs avoid literally every predatory animal that lives im africa, they get bullied around everywhere they go, class 4 seems fine to me
I can’t see cheetahs being higher than 5.
.22-250 could probably drop a cheetah.
Ordered it
Jungle would be best for Cameroon
I dont mind what reserves come next as long as I can hunt more predators. In addition to making the game more immersive. The Game Class Tiers & Caliber/Gauges would need to be Re-worked to be Authentic to IRL Tiers. This would be favorable & acceptable for all players if it's Re-worked to be Authentic to IRL, over made-up Game logic as I stated in my 2 revised threads after doing some serious research. Everyone here wants Africa 2.0 to be a work of Art as well as the Huntable Game in it to be as Authentic as possible. With that said I for one also want all Huntable Game & Calibers/Gauges to be Re-Classed to be as Authentic as possible. If Bullet grain weight & bullet types aren't an option to be added then at the very least all our Calibers & Gauges should be adjusted to cover all the appropriate game they can take ethically IRL over a VG mechanic wall. I justified all existing Game, Calibers, & Gauges in my threads to RL. If TH: CotW is intended to be a hunting Game as EW/Jaxy keep claiming it to be I'd expect these changes to be made.
Back out on a big five reserve!
Tent with a broken zipper door, classic
🤣 happens to the best of us. Though that would be hilarious to be an animation that happens every so often in game when using the tents. Might make for a good loading screen animation now that I think about it.
Oryou got to open the door of your tent and there's a bear or something staring at you like you offended it
I had that happen on the 4th of July. My wife n I were playing with a friend on Mississippi and I was buying ammo in the tent. I heard something so I turned to walk out of the tent an a damn gator was at the entry staring at me. Scared the h*** out of me.
Oh I thought he meant irl. I was out during season once with my gf (eventual wife) and we got up to a black bear pawing at the tent. No rainfly and we had the "windows" open so there's nothing but mesh between us and this bear is just staring at us pawing the tent. It was a young animal so shooting it felt like a waste so I grabbed my phone and turned up the volume. Bears are, apparently, not big fans of country music lmao
He was probably implying IRL & it reminded me of a moment in-game 🤣
Oh yeah,I've had lions in my tent in game. Stuck to the point I couldn't even get ammo from the box
Classic. Here kitty kitty....🤣🤣🤣
Iwas bow hunting kudu on the north end of the map, didn't have anything for lions at at all. Fast travel didn't work and it was still there after I went to the main menu so I had to go to an outpost for a rifle and an atv and ride all the way back to that tent to get it out.
I miss old vurhonga
Nice
Thats a good shot for a night photo
I’m Getting ghost and the darkness vibes
Love the book and the movie but I disagree. This looks like a little slice of heaven
Could we get a mission where we preform the famous “Bell Shot” coined by Walter Bell?
Effective but I bet it's harder than it looks by a long shot
Definitely, we need some side mission talk though.
It’s a big five with lions and we have no fence just the tent with the broken zip,
So pretty similar
Sounds like you’re mad about the broken zipper…how bad is it broken?
As in won’t zip at all, tent doors open all night
Did you try squeezing the sides with a pair of pliers?
Somebody's fault or a casualty from hard use? Probably more chances of being mauled by bugs than lions tho so maybe not so bad?
Just old bit of kit, the reserve has been over hunted massively, and poached heavily. So while there are lions I would like to think that given I’ve not heard or seen any spore that they are in another part of the reserve with more game
Got it, still, must be a great place to relax in. I haven't been able to just go and camp anywhere in a while.
Much, much better roads and a new shooting range 🙂
Wow, it was done really well, it really feels like we're looking at the map in the game.
We still need the soundtrack and the looks of each camp. I'd actually like a mix of permanent buildings and tent camps tho
Is there any 3D artist here to do that job?
I know guns decently well but my art is limited to trail marks and stick men
And if so there’s the problem is if EW picks the 3D models up for official use
Need some camps surrounded by bomas.
If anyone should have a say in how the camps look it's Wellington, man's the reason this thread has been growing so much
Some modernish camps would be great too, I’d like a mix of both now that I think about it.
Like I said a while back I think Wellington is one of the biggest none staff legend on the server man is Pilar of the community
What's the pfp ayoliam? I swear I've seen this guy
Scaly Pete from the incredible game “Maneater”
mixed outposts are always great
Sundar and its mix of larger and smaller villages along with the combo outpost/lookouts was great
And EC varying from the main compound and basically resort houses out in the bush to the homely little raised cabins and the sanctuary all the way down to caravan/RV parks was great
Would love to see a mixture of big and small/traditional and modern
I loved the campsites on rev, definitely need more.
Right, shark game.
Actually, I'd love to see a sign on the river in this map that just has WARNING: CROCODILES AND BULLSHARKS IN THE WATER
Y'all remember the missions in vurhonga where you found the wrecked poachers camp? The small shack that had all the cases on the floor?
I'd love to get a side mission like that. You don't hear about it unless you stumble onto the shack and find it wrecked, a hole torn in the thatch roof, everything is wrecked, blood on the floor and the window smashed out from the inside and the Warden tells you there's an active Maneater leopard in the area
Land shark side mission
Every time I see this it gets better and better. Looks like a genuine ingame map now!
Some nice counter poaching missions stuff would be great.
Checking a fence for wire breaks, or wire damage where someone’s climbed over.
Checking for Snares, giraffe snares too as we are on Africa 2
Will think of more later but yeah lots of cool good story stuff they could include
Darting rhinos maybe?
Best toilet designs in 2024, 1:

The final mission rewards the player with a melanistic leopard, similar to Medved albino diamond bear, which was a good reward for all the missions.
I'd love this esp. with a multi-mount in my predator lodge. But dont forget Cuarto Calinas with the 3 Iberian wolves with rare fur types as well 😁
Did you know they could all be diamonds?
@flint snow told me that literally 2 minutes after I killed the last wolf and it ruined my game. I made an alt account to try and get them and I still haven't been able too

If I'm being honest I dont pay attention to the trophy medal rating. I go off of sight and if its unique to me I keep it. That was before I read that all 3 story wolve's fur types are mission only colors so I failed to taxy them not knowing it was exclusive, except the last wolf.
But calibers are locked into a tier wall so I dont get good medal scores bc I use the same calibers I would irl on the game I hunt. Ex 308 on coyotes & bobcat they are a T2 in game but the 308 is a 4-8. 110gr is what I use irl for them, 168gr for deer, and 190gr on elk. So I hunt as I would irl regardless of the medal system. But I do use bigger calibers for bear or dangerous game. Like the 470 or single 338 on cape & I use the 300 bolt (not the Nemo Omen/AR) for elk, moose, bison, & bear as intended to the real caliber rating. Unless I'm farming but thats 10% of my gameplay, 90% of the time I'm sim hunting.
Real
.375 for 7-9 please EW, it's the least you could do after making us wait for ages
Question for everyone
What should be the gun for this map and why?
For a while I was thinking the 375 would be it but then the weapons vote happened.
I'd imagine one of the large Nitro Express rounds or one of the popular 20th century .40+ caliber bottlenecked rounds; so one of the following:
.500NE
.600NE
.700NE
.416 Rigby
.416 Weatherby
.460 Weatherby
IMO i'd prefer .600 or .700NE as a 9-10 or 10 if we get a double rifle. If we get a bolt action I'd like it in the style of a CZ550 a MkV weatherby in .416 Rigby or .416 Weatherby
Ruger No. 1 in .458 Lott preferably, or one of the many large Express rounds
Also .585 Nyati would be great given its lack of coverage in the hunting game genre.
As for classes:
.458 Lott 8-10
All the Express rounds would be 9-10
.585 Nyati 9-10
I love the idea but I'm afraid they'd look at such a high caliber as a 9 only and it would be marginalized by the .470s 2 rounds or .375s 3-4 rounds. That said, if it was awarded by a mission in the map and a .416 bolt action came as the map weapon it would be a really worthwhile reward for a side mission
I think it all depends on if they get the .375’s classes perfect.
We will have to wait and see
We know this map won't be coming soon so we'll see how they handled the .375 before it, I'm kinda hoping the community weapon pack is their way of bringing in a big change in scoring/ballistics
If we get a .416 Rigby or .416 Weatherby I'd think 8-10 would be a good class range.
The express rifles as liam said should all be 9-10 since they're absolutley massive rounds with so much energy.
Personally I'd prefer Weatherby over Rigby so we'd have a notable ballistic improvement in both drop and power over .375.
Anything 40 and up and ill be happy with 8-10 ish
I'm not really sure what would work best but I'm hoping we'll have at least 3 really good rifles before this map drops
I’m personally hoping for a Westley Richards 425. It’s unlikely because it’s a rarer gun, but I’m hopeful
I’d also love to see .318, not too sure of the class because of the wide variety of game it has taken.
• H&H 8 Bore Hammer (7-10) - Blackpowder Cart. /8ga: +Ball (Spherical): 862gr (7-9) +Slug (Conical): 1257gr (9-10) <--- aka 1884 Holland & Holland 8g Paradox
I'd rather get a Westley Richards if we get the 425 its gorgous and I'm fond of the caliber.
I'd also upgrade the 470 to 10
Another option I'd like: Pedersoli Safari Express (7-9) - Blackpowder .72cal: +Ball: 500gr
honestly I'd rather it be 8-10 since its rated for grizzly and moose irl.
Yeah 8-10.
I really want one these blackpowders for Dangerous Game preferably the 8 bore, its so unique
I'd make the 375 H&H a 6-10
Change around the loads and you can use it for lots of stuff
Thats what its rated for irl and I agree, though it'll likely be 7-9 by the tier wall unless they add T:10
Also, it's a good niche
It will most likely replace my bolt .300win for my elk & up hunts so I'm really looking fwd to it.
.416 Rigby
No opinions on the 1884 Holland & Holland 8g Paradox? You won't hurt my feelings none so feel free to be honest, I really thought it was a good suggestion.
me want big bores
Can I just say that modern rifles absolutely lack the kind of class and feeling that older rifles do? Yeah modern high precision is great but the literal cookie cutter stocks and "space age" designs do not feel the same.
I feel exactly the same way. I believe that if you’re going to hunt an animal, the rifle should be worthy of the animal.
I hate that so many rifles look the same
That’s my main gripe with the gun industry today.
Most of the nice rifles are not even old as everyone keeps labels them.
These firearms are made today and are still works of art, made by the hands of man. Not mass produced in some dreary factory in the states or centeral Europe
It's the mass produced ones that are boring, practically anything else is awesome aside from plastic/polymers stocks, deduct points for those
20mm full auto anti aircraft machine gun
🤔
New best grind gun 😂😂
CRam would be a better one good for waterfowl grinding
Yeah that's definitely going in my goose setup, would have to be like 5mil per unit tho, and 5k for 5 secs of firing
Just sit back place the CRam in a water fowl blind and grab a beer watch the chaos
(I corrected the typo)
Hey, if you know about them what's your opinion on short magnums
C'mon, EW! I can't imagine a single person that doesn't want this map! I bet this is going to be the next map.
Just had a thought for elephant mechanics. What if instead of a set drink zone time(for example moose), each zone is randomized?
One drink zone would be 8 to 10 but another drink zone is 15 to 18.
Would make things more interesting if you had to keep up with time a little more.
That’s what I was thinking
Honestly, I'd really enjoy having slightly randomized needzones for all animals. It would drive grinders insane though
I could see that working for the rarer animals like tigers, snow leopards, and lions. The more I think about it the more I like it
It'd be a fairly small change but I think it would make a big difference in how monotonous the game can get
Dang 1000 upvotes
Yeah we growing bru
People love this idea too much to ignore it
Everyone is Africa hungry.
I'm more impala hungry but yes. . . .
we need to reach 1500 votes by the end of the year
This better be the next map 🤣. I love what they are doing but they need to honor the “community driven dev team”
Considering they literally let the community decide on the weapons for the next weapon pack, I’d say they’re pretty community driven.
But did they? 😂. I mean they gave us options but not like choose whatever. I’m just messing around lol. This is just what the community wants and it would be nice to see it in game
We’ve asked for quite a few of those guns for awhile
Could well happen, but I think 1350+ is most likely given how many months we have left.
Equally who knows, sales and free weekends etc drive up the post
.300blk? Never seen that in feedback
Yeah, you would think it would be talked a lot about based off of the numbers, but I never saw it come up outside of the vote
Pretty sure it was all the new players from gamepass or something just blindly voting up the cod gun
Wouldn’t surprise me
Same, but at least it'll be a bolt action instead of a boring copy of the ,223 AR I suppose.
Hell, maybe they'll give us the choice between supersonic and subsonic ammo as well as a suppressor for it. Give it a reduced spook radius comparable to the air rifle with the subs and the .22 virant with supers. Would make it a pretty neat varminting gun with a niche for close range hunting and would be useful due to lower spook radius from reduced sound.
Of course it'll probably just end up being a worse copy of the .223 bolt with no real uniquity lol.
Unique would have been the single shot.
I can tell you already there's gonna be a huge sh**storm when the pack actually comes out because they think they're getting a 11 round magazine and it's actually just six.
EW didn't think either poll through very well
No they didn’t
Idk if anyone here plays Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but thanks to a glitch I just learned the rifles are 9.3x76mm. I thought before that Africa was the inspiration for the movies/world but they just barely changed a rifle round to fit in there.
Main point. The 9.3x74r we have in game? Let's say we get it as a double, would it be anyone's go to Africa gun?
I already use it with the drilling because it hammers 5-7 animals, it's fun
so yes, i'd juse it to death, especially if it was buffed
See I love the idea of an O/U version that is just the rifle. I've seen some gorgeous ones that would still be absolute beasts in the field
I would stick to the 470 and 375 for Africa 2. Unless they make something really interesting like a 405 or 425
.500 NE over under, leave it to Westley Richard's to make something incredible
Everything from Westley Richards is incredible.
One day I’ll get a Westley Richards…one day
I won't. I'd love to but I don't think I'll ever be able to afford it.
Now, in the game I'd happily pay a fortune. He** I'd pay 20-30$ for a mega pack of weapons
I’ve seen it quite a few times actually
Weird. Tho tbh I'd have been very interested if it had been a single shot pistol. Always found those guns fascinating
I doubt it'll be worse I'm expecting it to be a 3-7 and irl I'll take 300blk over 223 any day for hunting. Competition 5.56nato with it being cheaper. I know alot of ppl are knocking it bc of COD. However I do use it personally and I'm happy with it for its use in my selection over a .223. As for varmints 22-250, .243, and .308win all do just fine with range. 300blk is effective up to 180yds, for most folks 220yds is usually max in normal cases. And 300blk is available 110gr - 220gr. Forget suppressers bc nearly any caliber can be canned. That aside it has its place just like any other caliber. For those of you who dont know anything about it do your research outside of COD. Just making a point I dont expect anyone to like it, if its not for you then dont use it of course. But I will agree 200% the 11rnd mag crimped was by far the most ridiculous suggestion if its a bolt variant. If it was an Armalite I can sympathize with it, but a bolt it literally makes no sense. For the record I wanted the single. Since stock & barrel lengths were nearly identical it literally came down to capacity. And knowing the round irl and what we already have in game a single made the most sense given its purpose over the niche.
But more than anything I am very pleased to get the wood bolt 375H&H (7-10) & a bolt 450Bush. (4-8) over the Armalite variant.
After this I would like to see more big bores and magnums between 7-10 & 9-10. Because I do rather enjoy hunting bears in-game as well as dangerous game. 475 bishop short mag, 8bore, 416 Rigby to name a few. Though I defn. wouldn't mind more Black powders either.
great suggestion btw
To you as well these would also be great choices
Anyone keen on giraffe variations?
Yes, me
There are melanistic looking giraffes
Noice
I must say, There’s quite a lot of fur mutations
EW could definitely have some fun with giraffe furs
Considering that the patterns of the giraffes are different from each other, why not do like Truracs but this time with spots for each skin color. That would be cool, right?
That all brown giraffe is amazing.
If it’s possible to do, they could definitely do something like that. Could also apply to the piebalds in game. Make every trophy truly unique.
I see that some giraffes belong to a different subspecies from the one found on this Zimbabwe map, if I’m not mistaken.
There are amazing ideas here every time I look
Here's a thought. There's a few tribes in Africa that are well known for how skilled their archers are. All of these tribes have amazing looking longbow and very unique arrows because of the birds in their areas.
So, African style longbow? Keep in mind they can have a draw weight anywhere between 20 and 110 pounds so it could match the hawkedge 70lb draw with a more traditional look
100%
Think that would be Awsome
@mighty rampart One question, are the Big Five the lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard and elephant or are they the lion, rhino, buffalo, hippopotamus and elephant?
Rhino, leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant
Hippopotamus and giraffe are not part of the big five.
I think that The “big” part is not a reference to the animals size but how they were the main 5 prize species hunted during the colonial periods and that they were the most difficult to track.
So based on this post and the information I have gathered I have created a Zimbabwe reserve, taking into account how the maps of the game are made and with this I intend to contribute something to this post to complete this fictional reserve a little more, with the idea that EW will listen to us and use this information to create the possible map or maps in Africa.
Bembezi Hunting Reserve
- Bush African Elephant ( class 10 ) - New
- Common Hippo ( class 10 ) - New
- Southern White Rhino ( class 10 ) - New
- Lion ( class 9 )
- Cape Buffalo ( class 9 )
- Common Eland ( class 8 ) - New
- Nile Crocodile ( class 8 ) - New
- Plains Zebra ( class 7 ) - New
- Waterbuck ( class 7 ) - New
- Great Kudu ( class 7 ) - New
- African Leopard ( class 6 ) - New
- Antelope Sable ( class 6 ) - New
- Impala ( class 4 ) - New
- Common Warthog ( class 4 )
- Side-Streiped Jackal ( class 2 )
15 Species
@mighty rampart What do you think about this list of species?
It’s a good list, I’d throw giraffe and hyena
I have not included the hyena because there are already several predators so I would put it on another African map or even in Vurhonga Savanna and I have not included the giraffe because I do not see a giraffe in the game and I doubt they will add it to the game.
Ok right, Why would they would not add giraffes do you think?
I honestly have no arguments to defend my opinion but I feel like EW never added giraffes.
That’s makes no sense.
It's like it's an animal that I don't see in the game, I can't imagine it in the gameç
However for some places it would be logical to have seen that it can be chased away if I don't say stupid things. I say that, I don't say anything but like Vurhonga Savanna. Afterwards I'm not an expert so I could be wrong
Yeah but why.
I know but it's a feeling that I get
Not to sound critical but that’s complete a non-point. Giraffes are highly requested and hunted commonly irl. There no reason for it to be excluded.
I'm not saying that they should be excluded, but it's a bit of a peculiar animal to add to the game, knowing how the game works and its history.
Let’s dig deeper
What do you mean by that?
What history?
What makes it “peculiar”?
the Bengal tiger is also a special animal, the snow leopard too and yet they are there. And the worst thing is that compared to the giraffe they cannot be hunted in reality
This would be a fun map
Giraffes are more hunted than the elephants and rhinos
Unless there's some weird game engine gremlins preventing them, can't really see any reason to exclude giraffes.
As far as I know they're fairly common in their ranges and regular hunting doesn't seem to do much damage to their population. It's also a unique and honestly amazing trophy that I honestly don't think ANY other hunting game allowed you to go after.
I am kinda curious tho, since they don't typically run in big herds is this the first animal we'll get with single animal zones? Or am I wrong and they come in small groups? (I mean like 2 to 5 animals)
This whole list exudes exotic! I can’t wait till this arrives one day! 🤠
y'all mind if i post a prehistoric africa map idea here i made for #1120394592265719950 or should i probably not
thought y'all would be interested
16 if you include
African Cheetah
@mighty rampart
Wanted to ask, what do you think of Nile monitor lizards as a class 1 for the map? 5.9-15kg for weight and 120-220cm in length they seem like a really unique class 1 predator
Entirely this
A unique a cool class 1x absolutely. Can’t believe I didn’t think of them before!
I'm actually really glad you agree, Africa has amazing big game all over the place but lots of people forget how many incredible small game animals it has.
A mega size gecko? Imagine having it taxi'd like it's climbing the wall in the lodge
Is this a personal experience? Because that's cool af
Yeah it was in the roof of our kitchen
That's wild, I've seen lizards in camp before but they were always tiny little blue tail skinks. Africa is just fn awesome
You think that’s cool?, wait until you see what I post tomorrow
Never knew Nile Monitors had such a large range?!?! that’s crazy!
Right? Perfect small game for any Africa map
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1280218987439067226
Would appreciate if you gents could check out my second contribution to the suggestions forum. The Rigby rifles.
Savanna monitors are massive and have huge range coverage. Ppl that get them as pets dont realize you need several sq feet of area bc they 1. Get massive 2. They are so active they'll travel for miles.
Itd be nice to see this in game soon
much much better than other rabbit/hare
I like rabbits/hares, I just wish you couldn't hear them from miles away. They aren't even half as wary irl as in game either
It's a boring hunt, several species of dogs were created to hunt them, it's sad that the game doesn't have hunting dogs to make it fun
that reminds me, pointer would be a good addition near the release of Africa 2.0, the last dog of the classic that is missing
Depends on the species. This is a prime example why I dont like overall species behavior ai. It would be more authentic if every game animal is tweaked to be more individually lifelike as they would irl. Rabbits/hares are vastly different in behavior based on their surroundings, climate, and predators.
rabbit threatening 200 meters away in spam 🤣
It is pretty bad bc a forest cottontail is way different then a prairie jack rabbit.
I grew up with cottontail rabbits in my area, they hold so tight in the brush you might step on them. I live in an area now that has tons of jackrabbits, they aren't as slow to run as cottontail but there's less cover so you can see them from farther away.
Cottontail I just carried a.22 revolver and subsonic ammo so I could take them without spooking deer.
Jack's I usually carry a rifle for but I can still get a few with a pistol if I take my time aiming
On a related note if Monitor lizards are added I'd love to see them chase & catch the hares.
Could use the same kind of feed zone markers as foxes, monitors for Africa and perenti for Australia
Exactly & I agree I'd love this considering its a small game predator & the multi-mount would be great to add in my predator lodge. As well as my African predator room that is seriously lacking verity.
It has my vote for Africa 2.0 and the Savanna can keep the Jackels.
Multimount idea, Nile monitor chasing green monkeys up a branch
I really want Jaguars, Hyenas, Caracals, Servals, Nile Croc, & Monitors. Honey Badger would be a great touch as well if they're permitted.
Adding these Predators along with the other popular game I'd pay $29.99 for the reserve.
Africa 2.0 Predators
Class 1: 1-15lbs
• Savanna Monitor - 13lbs
Class 2: 15-35lbs
• Serval - 26lbs
• Honey Badger - 35lbs
Class 3: 35-110lbs
• Caracal - 40lbs
Class 5: 250-375lbs
• Spotted Hyena - 140lbs (Danger Level: Packs aka Cackles)
Class 7: 600-1100lbs
• Leopard- 159lbs (Dangerous Cat # 3)
Class 9: 1500-2800lbs
• Nile Croc - 1700lbs
hyena 4?
Hyenas would probably be a lot like wolves
going off of the base irl classing. Bullets are classed around game weight ranges, penetration, expansion then you would apply cartridge and discharge ballistics.
Wolves shouldn’t be in 5/6.
I could see hyenas being 5 but more likely 4.
4 is the max I can see wolves being, they aren’t known for being tough or very large at all
Jaguar, you meant Leopard right? Jaguar are exclusive to the Americas
only reason I agree w/ 5 is because they hunt in packs. IRL 6x - 180lb wolves vs you alone... not good odds however a lone wolf yes 4 all day. I guess in this case hyenas also are pack animals so 5 might be better
yea that was my bad I was looking at something and typed the wrong cat 😅 But they are similar in size and danger level.
Iberian wolves dont get more than 110lbs or so but Gray Wolves can get as large as 180lbs 115-160avg. Which is why I say 5 due to danger lvl over size. Size wise yea 4 all day solo.
👆 Its been edited
There's a rumor at my local feed shop that someone just killed a wolf that weighed 210 pounds. The only reason I think this might be possible is down to the "medicine" some ranchers have in their beef cattle around here (I can't say for certain but since my wife has a lot of allergies we avoid storebought meat like the plague)
I believe it. I've worked beside wolf rescues in the past & I can honestly say standing next to them will put fear in anyone in the wild. Dont have a big fire for those in the bush with wolves its a dinner bell they are NOT scared of it.
Ive seen it happen here, and I suppose it could be possible in Africa. But private land owners can issue permits to hunt on their land, either free or by selling them, and some of the less "honest" landowners will set out dosed baitpiles to make their animals much bigger so they can charge more for permits.
If this happens I'm not entirely sure the effects would stay with the original animal if it was eaten. Predators might be getting a sort of secondhand dose of growth hormones. Can't prove this, but it's something I halfway believe
In NE we have been getting more coyote hybrids they are nearly double in size and hunt in packs taking cattle. So I can easily see this being likely.
I sort of severely hate the idea of bigger stronger pack predators.
Ah yeah Eastern Coyotes, I've heard about them. They killed someone in Nova Scotia in 2009
These yotes from studies are revealing they crossed with domestic dogs. Alaska had this with husky's mixed with wild wolves where it would lead sled dogs away from camps. They are very clever as a species.
It also doesn't help that they're the Apex Predator in most places because there's not many large predators these days
aside from mtn lions & wolves no. Wolves usually stay away from bears but not always the case
Yooooo it’s at 1111 likes
isnt the shooting range a bit too long? it looks like 500-700m range, no need for anything over 300 or 400 really
I did it 1:1 to Hirchfelden, but it could be a little shorter yeah
Any feedback is really appreciated, thanks!
no problem, also just noticed you misspelled my name so could you pls fix that 🥲
Whoops, sorry about that 🥲
Surge in likes today, is there a sale on any platform?
Yes basically every reserve other than sundar is on sale on PS. Maybe on other platforms but I don’t play them.
Ah that would explain it
Yep. I got medved,Revontuli, and New England for 3 bucks each. Pretty good deal I must say
I bought them all full price
Yeah, paid full price on day of release for the maps
So if there’s going to be giraffes on this map, what weapon class do you think they would be?
Im going with Class 9 because the bulls approach 5,000lbs
I'd think 8 or 9, think Wellington said he's for them being 9s.
9-10 due to size anything less would be under rated bullet wise IRL. Large game goes up to T:8 1500lb game like moose, brown bear, & Grizzly. Dangerous game bullets are solid cast for 1500+ lb game like cape/water buffalo at 2k lbs. Rhinos 8k lbs, Elephant 10-14klbs, so I suggest a 5k lb animal a T: 10
Leopard should be Class 5 or 6. Love the idea tho. The africa map feels too empty
7 due to danger lvl being the 3rd most dangerous cat. Weight wise yes it would be lower. Same would be said for Tigers & lions if weight was the only factor. But They are listed as Dangerous Game irl & so are Leopards & Jaguars technically.
Yea, but the puma and snow leopard are so low. Class 5 or 6 feels more right. Doesn't feel right having an 100kg> at the same class as black bears
black bears can weigh as little as 40 kilos so idk, it works for me
Small females. Males usually weight around 250kg
I think Leopard should be 8 honestly. They’re a part of the Big 5 for a reason. They are one of the most difficult hunts in Africa, and they are really dangerous to hunt.
They’ve been known to jump from person to person, and the highest count of that was(if I remember right) 5 people
older and mature yeah, but most adults arent maximum mature size and tend to sit between 120 and 180 kilos
they also vary in size across their range, with southern populations being the smallest
No way. Definitely not class 8. Not near class 8.
A bit bigger then that bro
that's the size of the majority of the bear population here in Colorado since the age bell curve holds around 2.5 to 5 years old when they tend to be smaller, it's usually 8yrs and older that they get fat
Some reach 300kg. They weight more then a average lion Cmon. Fat? In order to get fat they have to hunt. Hunting increases muscle. Black bears get atleast 250 on average before they get sh0t
Lions are class 9….
Yea. Idk why. Prob because they are bulky and they made them pretty aggressive.
It is because they are dangerous game
black bears are literally seasonally obese to prepare for the winter (approaching 55% body fat by mass near the end of fall) and between 70% and 90% of their diet is plant matter throughout most populations. Most animal protein they get comes from scavenging and digging up rodent dens or exploiting freshwater prey.
Im not disputing that they can be heavy, im just pointing out that most of them dont get extremely heavy. For example, most male lions are 300-400lbs but 550lb or heavier specimens exist, they just aren't the norm.
Wait. Why did we go from Leopard to black bear?
.470 NE is used on them irl
because you said it was weird to put leopards in the same class as them
Class: 1 (1-15lbs)
Ducks/Upland Birds
Hares/Rabbits/Grey Fox 15lbs/Tibetan Fox 12lbs
Class: 2 (15-35lbs)
•Geese •Turkeys 25lbs •Racoon Dog 22lbs •Racoon 26lbs •Red Fox-Jackel 30lbs

•Springbok-Chamois-Ibex-Hog Deer 110lbs
Class: 4 (110-250lbs)
•Blue Sheep-Mouflon-Feral Goat-Snow Leopard-Iberian Wolf 120lbs
•Blackbuck 126lbs •Roe Deer 130lbs •Pronghorn-Kangaroo 142lbs •Mtn Goat 150lbs
•Blacktail-Tahr 160lbs •Axis-Fallow-Sika 175lbs •Grey Wolf 180lbs
•Mule-Whitetail-Mtn Lion 200lbs
Class: 5 (250-375lbs)
•Bighorn Sheep 315lbs •Boar-Pig-Hog-Warthog 330lbs •Rusa 353lbs

•Salt Croc 2400lbs •Water Buffalo-Yak 2600lbs
You know it varies like crazy, in my old home state they had to weight 80 pounds minimum to be considered adult or You got HEAVY fines
Yea, because they are just alot bigger then leopards
The danger is not because of the weight, it is because of the adrenaline, lions after being shot will run directly towards the hunter, rarely in a straight line, they run to attack without a defined trajectory, so it is important to kill quickly
80 pounds? Yall have babies my guy.
That is my point, which is why they are class 9, and that it would make sense for leopards to be class 7.
I remember a hunter explaining something similar about hunting in Africa when reacting to videos
Nothing gets super large in TN. My biggest bear (out of 9) was 310
bigger doesnt mean much in terms of weapon class, it's about how dangerous the animal is and what is needed to take it down.
They were hunted with .375 H&H bolt actions and double barreled express rifles IRL, so class 6 or 7 makes sense to me
Yea honestly. Leopards should be around class 4 or 5. So making them class 6 is a bonus for that "dangerous" thing
yes, people forget that the biggest danger an animal faces is its reaction after being shot, adrenaline is brutal 💀
I SAID 6 EARLIER
dawg im not disputing it Im just saying either could work
Right here
Yeah see, leopards have a really nasty habit of trying to maul anyone and everyone they see when they get shot non-fatally.
"I'm dying but ffs I'll make you regret it, B****!" mentality
And leopards are aggressive, so I think a higher class is warranted due to the danger they pose.
big cat moment
is dying
overflowing with homicidal rage
"Im taking you bastards with me"
But it just feels to high. Since brown bears or class 7. And brown bears have killed more People then Leopards
Calibers like the .300 win mag should be able to be used on leopards imo
brown bears should be class 8 ngl, class 7 is dumb when they exceed 1,000lbs
I'd love it if that was a legitimate mechanic, wound but not fatally shoot a big cat and it runs to cover then charges when you get close? Gimme that challenge
Cape buffalo pretending to be dead or going around player
Real. Crocs should be class 9 tbh
Calibre is higher due to the aggressive nature of leopards, not their body mass
also holy like surge 1,117 lmao, just saw that
No. You cant only use the aggressiveness. Look at the SIZE ASWELL!! it's under 75kg
Extra stopping power is preferred when hunting dangerous game
Negative too low
If you're that light 300 caliber is just overdose. Gtg
on average yess but 90-100kg infividuals have been known to exist
IMO class 7 is the place just so they can be hit with some of the dangerous game cartridges used for them
Leopards are in that class of animal that is one or the other
Either you STOP it on the spot
Or your guide will hate you in very very best case scenario
Well while you guys are here.. PLEASE BRO LIKE MY SWEDISH MAP POST. I NEED A SWEDISH MAP
Sweden would be meh, map would look nice but would just be more moose
Bud, some countries require you to use at least a .375 H&H for leopards lol
Red deer, Fallow deer, Roe deer, lynx, bears, wolfs, fox and more my guy. JUST LIKE IT I NEED IT
WOTH with your new recycled map
Please, no more MMAAAAAAAAAA
Seems like they're right in my ear when I'm trying to stalk literally anything else on the map
I just want to listen to an angry elephant and look back EW
Politely, Don’t come to my thread begging people to upvote your posts.
We don’t want that here
Not begging. IM PLEADING. and also just marketing
I swear EW rounded up every moose, duck and goose and gave them megaphones and instructions to scream as loud as they could
so uh, stay on topic in someone else's thread. You don't want people coming in yours and talking about their ideas
I keep forgetting it's winter in Africa. Also my first instinct is the one on the right side looks like it could fill a freezer nicely
He’s a big one!
If any of you are intrested in a rhino autopsy I did today check #🥩︴irl-hunting
Some rather NSFW images, but very important ones.
Leopards are notoriously tough. They regularly tank shots from calibers like .375, .416, and .470. Even the .577 Tyrannosaur likely wouldn’t drop them. They are probably the toughest animal on the planet relative to their size. Class 7 is a MINIMUM for them. .375 is the minimum requirement for them in most countries. Class 8 would work just fine.
Wow. I forgot I was on this one. But I already liked this one
oh yes, this is where you explained you thought you were on your own post?
No, my mind connected to the COTW chat.
.585 Nyatti would be interesting in that list. It was designed specifically for cape buffalo
I think it's because the bullets for those calibers are designed for penetration and leopards don't really have the body mass to make them properly expand.
Even then, large round calibers like 9.3x74r still doesn’t take them out super quick. Leopards are just astronomically tough. You could hit them with the Death Star Ray and they’d still probably run,
What I mean is that I think they'd go down faster ig you used a bullet designed for large but thin skinned game like elk/black bear. It would have enough penetration to get past the hide and ribs but then expand in the lungs to kill humanely
I hope you know leopards are famous for walking off big bore calibers….
And a lot of people aren't experienced enough to place the shot right anyway. Plus nerves, moving animals, low light,
Point is, big bullets don't guarantee anything
No, but they should still be a higher class than 5. They’re much tougher than cougars.
I could see 7, they are definitely tougher than cougars but on the other hand they aren't amazingly tough
I would put them in #2, they are the size of a gray fox/racoon after all and I think hitting vitals would be pretty important
Ooh, but that would be a lil difficult though, especially since they'd be much lower to the ground than a usual class 2
It's still pretty large also I love myself a good challenge
They already did one but I want them to do more baobabs they are just so pretty
The baobab in game isn't the best, I do hope for them to be present in Africa 2.0
Yeah I agree it's one of my favorite plants I used to have one as a pet but it died
Having hunted gray fox and raccoons my whole childhood I can tell you they should both be class 1. .243 will absolutely destroy them to the point you can't eat the meat and the hide is in tatters. .22 centerpieces work but you better be absolutely sure it's a safe shot and placed PERFECTLY or I will destroy them just as quick as a bigger caliber. I used .22 lr until I sold enough coon skins to buy a .22 mag and it handled everything from coyote down well enough
The .22 Truncated rounds do some crazy work on both of them. They should definitely be class 1 animals.
I know nothing about guns so all my knowledge comes from Cotw
Baobab tree in Kruger National Park, South Africa is of the same. They look very similar. The design is good.
Yeah it's an Adansonia digitata they basically all look like that
They are sometimes used as houses which would make for s fancy lodge
A gift of nature
Truly impressive I believe the houses are from the hadza tribe of east africa
Yes, from Tanzania. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hanzabe_Baobab_house.jpg
One of my favorite African countries

Lemme put it this way, when it comes down to weight the difference between a .243 and a .22 long rifle is about 60 grains for average bullet size.
The difference between .22 LR and .223 bullets is like 15 grains. The issue is, that .223 and .243 are meant for larger animals or long distances.
They work, but they are very destructive on anything less than 20 pounds or so. Not to mention they fly so much farther than a .22 LR so they can can put people or animals past your target in danger.
Rimfires, .22LR, .22 mag, and the .17s, waste much less meat on a bad shot, kill very humanely, and they're much less likely to pass through the target and hurt someone hundreds of yards away
Another thing to consider is even though a cartridge uses the same bullet and gr weight the cartridge sizes vary. This means more powder & more powder usually means more speed and energy applied to the bullets performance in flight as well as impact. 22lr is a really small cartridge with minimal energy making it effective for small game like rabbits. 223 uses a 22cal bullet but bigger case with more energy behind it that hits harder for coyote size game but will damage rabbits slightly more then a 22lr. However bullet types also play a huge roll in penetration & expansion rates on impact. 243 uses a 6mm (which is bigger than a 22cal) bullet where 22lr, 22H, 223, 22-250 use 22cal bullets but different cases with various powder charges that apply to different game. Hope this helps⁉️
I think so yeah it does
Speaking of terrain, I’d love to see atleast a few termite mounds.
They would become the bane of my ATV’s existence
And yet, they'd be great to break LOS when you're bow hunting
Likes going crazy
Are the nocturnal termite mounds in Africa like those in the Cerrado, do they emit green light?
Agreed
Would br epic I would love for one of the developers to travel they're and take inspiration.
Thoughts?
Not a fan of the rail personally
I like the rails, it makes it look really unique
Makes it look too Modern,
Should be replaced by something more like this.
Minus that horrible purple trigger and action
Maybe we'll get more weapons for the calibre eventually 🤞
Adding new ones just opened another door for more and more options
Could be that the rail is added with certain sights that fit it.
Not keen on it looking like that without a scope.
It looks short to me
Might just be the perception? Should be a long battle based off the vote. We will have to wait for more pictures
Perception definitely doesn’t help.
I’m trying to find what there using as inspiration for the 375 right now
I wanted the weapon to be more similar to the videos on YouTube that I see, I didn't like the rail either
Honestly they could remove the rail and it would look so much better in my opinion
Dislike. I hate the rail on the caversham shotgun already, I don't want it on the rifle too
🙏
It's the only first-person game that can bother me when using weapons because of the rail and camera position.
Not shilling my crap ideas but c'mon EW, there's WAY better options for a .375
I hope the rail is removable. That or EW will just remove it if enough people don’t want it. Personally I don’t really mind but I can see why some would.
I mean it is just the 3D skeleton to it could just be the scope mount
I can’t even find a a 375 with that rail on it
This was the closest I could find
There's no reason for that rail to exist tho, if you look at any weapon in the game it just uses the rail attached to the scope itself and not the one on the weapon
The kick on that carbon stock would be a bit strong I can feel my shoulder aching just looking at it
Looks like my idea on the .300blk was right tho
I don’t understand why gun manufacturers keep going for ultra light designs. Some guns should just stay heavier built
Then again, that could also just be some piece on the gun in early development. It’s not a fully finished model, so they may remove that in the future.
Is this what they're going for? Because if it is I think they'd be better off just basing the .375 on older designs
Fr I saw a feather light .300 win mag at the store and it was fluted to that thing would kick like a truck
Huge calibers for dangerous game should stay heavy. If you have a .300 PRC tho and you’re hunting elk in the mountains, it’s best to not have a 10 pound gun with a 3 pound scope on it, otherwise you’re gonna wanna die anytime you hike.
I have a 7.8 pound .416 Ruger. I added 3 pounds of weight to the stock after 1 shot
Yeah, guns like that need heavy stocks.
Light weight 950 jdj anyone
Good luck getting smacked when the recoil flicks that barrel into your face
It's also very basic design tho. This is a .375, a caliber usually carried by people hunting something dangerous
If you get charged and have to shoot fast, you want as clear a sight picture as you can get, not some stupid rail blocking the sights
No more shoulder
Right, which is why I’m thinking this is just a temporary thing as this is in early development,
Lighter guns are definitely better for mountain game. But people used to hunt mountain game with heavier rifles back in the day
But ultimately a light weight 375 just doesn’t make sense to me
A .375 has 45 pounds of felt recoil in a 9 pound rifle, guess how much it has in a lighter rifle
Right, but the .375 was also voted to be a wood stock weapon via the poll
People also used horses and pack mules more often for mountain game back in the day. Easier to carry a heavy rifle when you have a horse or mule that can take you high into the mountains.
Definitely, the photo I grabbed was just the closest I could find to a 375 with a rail on it
And then we all had a tangent about a light weight 375
Yeah, and I don’t think it should have a rail now that I think about it. The entire point of a .375 is for it to be used on dangerous game up close. I’m hoping that the rail is just something that they have in early development.
Exactly, I can’t even find a model of a wood stock 375 with a rail on it. I’m trying to find what they used for inspiration but I can’t find anything similar to it
Looks like a slightly modified. 22-250 frame
Somehow, in the process of looking for the reference picture of that .375.
I found the company who makes the odd stock on the Ranger .243
That is one odd stock
They have better looking ones. Thankfully
Tbh, I'm looking at getting a bare bones basic .30-06 to use as a general hunting rifle for the more open areas on my place. I utterly hate plastic stocks tho, but I'm considering one of these
Ranger .243/Argus scope
Also, look at those woods. That scope ain't seeing the forest for the trees
Rail? No, please
I personally prefer heavy barrels as a stabilizer or even a carbon barrel. Light barrels make me sway too much when drawn unless its a good wood stock. Polymers or even laminate thumbhole stocks are great to counter it if its light.
woox cobra stock in tiger wood would be great.
I'll probably stick with walnut and the wild man configuration
still a good choice. I'm just fond of thumbhole stocks with a cheek rest over most modern tradition stocks. They dont feel right to me
I kinda just want a RL analog for the Ranger .243
Dont get me wrong my older Ruger M77 feels great but most modern models today dont feel right. Same with a good number of polymer stocks. I guess the best way to put it they feel cheap or rushed.
but yea in-game both the 243 & 223 are oddly platformed where a woox or boyds stock wouldve been a better option. This is why I wish we had a gunsmith option to further personalize our weapons with an individual weapon mastery unlock mechanic over an overall weapon type mechanic. This would include stocks, barrels, brakes, ammo (bullet weights), & engravings as a final level unlock that could be applied to all our weapons. As for accessories it would be overall weapon type unlocks as it is currently with scopes & bipods.
but to keep it simple as the game is a new tech gear pack with stocks, barrels and bipods would be an awesome addition.
Might be worth a “remove the rail from the .375 post”
I agree it'll be more traditional with a 2pc scope mount over a rail mount.
Any day
Other than the 375 with a rail that should be a 2pc scope mount I'm actually glad to see the 300blk as a scout ranch variant as it should be, & the 450 bush for the most part looks as I'd expect it to as well, though I wish they all were wood stocks 😓 Now EW do us proud and design them to perform as they would IRL over your traditional class system.
• 300Blkout - T: 2-7 - (110gr 2-3/ 125gr 4-6/ 220gr 7): Short - Mid range
• 450Bush - T: 4-8 - (250gr 4-6/ 300gr 7-8): Short - Mid Range
• 375H&H - T: 6-10 - (260gr 6-7/ 300gr 8-10) Short - Long Range
Or at least give us the option to apply wood grain to the stocks. I hate that the 7mm can't
If nothing else I can accept these Tiers:
300blk: (2-6)
450Bush: (4-8)
375H&H: (5-10)
I would love this as an alternative for all our weapons.
Name your top 3 African animals
Dangerous game: hippo, no question
Plains game: hartebeest but impala is a close second
Small game: blue duiker, obsessed with rabbit size antelope
For the .375 I’d expect 7 as the minimum at the least. Probably class 8 - 9 (eventually 10)
1.Lord Derby Eland
2.Nile Crocodile
3.Black lechwe
That’s my top 3
375H&H Hornady 250gr is rated for 50-300lb game & 270-300gr it goes from 300lb game to Dangerous Game IRL so technically T: 3-10 if were being realistic!
but by in-game weapon class presets it would actually match the 7mm 4-9 but we all know its used for 2800+lb game IRL so it would be 4-10 by in-game presets if we go off of game logic.
Then there should be 2 different round types. One for medium game and one for big/dangerous game.
Dangerous Game: African/Indian Leopard
Plains Game: Burchell’s or Mountain Zebra
Small Game: Springhaas
They could easily do this
A 250gr soft point class 6-8 and a 300gr expanding round nose for 8-9 class
Eventually a 9-10 class 300gr solid for max penetration with really big game like hippo, rhino and elephants
4-6/7-10 would be the route I'd take for in-game, if not 4-10 as a general. You know where I stand I'd prefer 2-3 ammo options. Again if not a rework to all caliber tier ranges would suffice.
👇🏻 👍🏻 💯
I am pleased to see this for the 450Bush
We should’ve gotten the bushmasters sights on the .375 (the one that needs it the most).
The only change is the rail needs to be a 2pc mount. The sights are related to a Rigby from the look of it.
Rail reduces visibility and this puts me in danger. And it bothers me.
300blk makes sense as a ranch/scout variation as it should be. The 450Bush is what I'd expect it to be as a bolt variant. But the 375 the rail on a what is suppost to be traditional throws it off badly. I like my 1pc rails on some of my rifles but my traditionals like my Ruger M77 yea. NEVER! Esp. on a Rigby based model.
Does it kinda bother anyone else that the rear sight is not on the barrel but the action? Like, I'm fine with aperture/ring style sights there but a notch type should be out on the barrel ahead of the action so it's easier to focus with
I dont mind it, do to my length of pull personally. It is an odd design but I find it to be helpful.
Yeah, I don't mind the express style rear sight but the front sight should be a nice big bead, much as they look great the hood on the front sight can be very easily pulled off in thick brush and the front sight post looks too small and thin for quick shooting at close targets
It's not terrible but I just kinda feel like it's an odd choice
I think Ruger does this style if I recall but more so on the scout/ranch models
I just can’t see why the rail was necessary or why it was thought of.
I mean look at the gamekeeper!
I wouldn't mind if its referenced to a Ruger Alaskan that would be sweet
Think the aim here based on the images was Ranch styled rifle models⁉️
It's really not necessary, it literally serves no purpose if there's not a scope on the gun, only blocks the area around the sights
I swear if the weapon pack is 4-8 bushmaster and 7-9 .375 I won't buy the pack 🤣 enough of the same type of class for weapons, but I hope .375 gets class 10 with Africa map 2 😭
Then you probably won't buy the pack cuz I'm almost sure that's how it'll play ot
I know, I like the real 375, but I don't put expectations on the game

Leucistic or albino 🤔 I want this trophy
Might actually be piebald? Maybe, it's kinda hard to say
I'm nearly certain it'll likely be a 4-9 (7mm), 5-9 (9.3x74r) or a 7-9 (.300-.338) based on the fixed tiers. I hope it'll be more like the 7mm 4-10 as a teaser but we'll see. 450 I'm expecting to be a 4-8 which is fair for the caliber & 300blk 2-6 like the (243) as this is also fair. Both the 300blk & 450bush are 200yd calibers so based on my experience with them irl this is reasonable.
I wish they'd use different class ranges from time to time. Make the .375 cover 5-9, the .450 a 3-7, and the .300 a 2-5 as examples so it's not the same "throw it in the 4-8 bucket and send it out" sort of thing
yea I do agree with you there that some mixter tiers would be ideal.
They could stand to shuffle classes/calibers a bit more until they find a balance that feels good. Personally it annoys me to no end that I can't use the .270 on pronghorn or the .30-30 on black bear
agreed however I do anyway regardless of the medal score. I dont like how the calibers a fixed either compared to ammo ratings irl.
One thing I normally see is that a rifle with a rail does not have a front sight, and another does not have the rail but does have a front sight with or without protected annular. There may be a rifle that has a rail with front sight, but with protected front sight??? I don't know if this exists.
The Sako is gorgeous, but yeah you're not wrong. The front sight hood looks odd a on a .375. It really just needs a nice bead sight like the Olsson .308. Except white, or ivory colored (I made a "ivory" front sight bead with a boar tusk for an old rifle and JEEZ I got yelled at by like 15 people for daring to have ivory)
The rail is added as an additional no doubt about it like someone replaced it which is why it makes no sense on the .375, I hate it honestly. All I was pointing out is the models I'm seeing here look like ranch styled rifles as a theme.
Yeah I sorta nailed the .300's design when I saw the second poll and I was even kinda close with the .450
Hold up.
yes, basically I use the same set of weapons on all maps because there is no reason to change the set. An example would be .6.5mm not being 3-7, 4-8 for it makes it useless, because there are several weapons in the same category and there is no reason to use it, my view is clear
.
FOUND IT
Thats why me & Huxley agree ammo should be the Tier factor over the caliber as a whole. I believe folks should have utility in their preferred calibers just like irl.
That .375 tease image is almost a dead match for the Fallout 4 mod to add a Remington 700 to the game by Utherian. Knew I'd seen that somewhere
Yea seems pretty darn close dont it, 98% match
It looks close enough that I think if it wasn't straight up yanked then they were definitely looking at pictures of it
For sure, even so the rail shouldn't be visible w/o the optic
yes, we already have the option to exchange ammunition with gunpowder weapons, the developers could release something similar for the other weapons without difficulty I think
Arrows & shells are also prime examples
the same with shotguns of course
It's not there if you don't equip a scope, at least in Fallout 4. Utherian does fantastic work and he usually gives open perms for his mods as long as no one tries to monetize it
Is a mod from Fallout 4? A model 3D
Yep, Utherian's Remington 700 on Nexus Mods for Fallout 4
Without the suppressor and box mag tho
sry I shouldve been specific on EW's model it shouldn't be visible. With an optic ok fine though I still believe the rail needs to be replaced as a 2pc mount.
Oh no, I just meant that with the mod it's not visible so I'd expect the same level of detail from an actual company if a modder can do it for free
Agreed
What do you think of the design of the .375 do woth?
Meh
I'd take a Rigby wood stock model over a factory polymer model. Though I'll admit Rem 700's are like Jeeps with 100's of aftermarket build options
It's fine, but it doesn't feel great. The ammo update made it really weak too. Since it's a Remington rifle, the WotH devs made it less accurate than it should be too.
But hey, it doesn't have that stupid rail so that's a bonus
Thing is, we don’t know if that rail is a permanent addition. It might just be something to do with the early development.
We're aware however I'm expecting them to view our thoughts as is before the final design.
But it's better to start showing that we don't like the rail now than when it's two weeks from releasing so they can change the model
True
I believe the devs' goal is to have the rail, but maybe they look at the feedback and change it
much better to see feedback at the beginning of modeling than at the end
Not to mention, they must have posted those pics hoping for reactions. If they had made a final decision on the design then why post them this early?
As far as I'm concerned, they nailed the .300blk and .450 models, those are fine as pictured. But that .375 needs to lose the rail and change to a bead style front sight
exactly that, normally they would only show it near the end, but since the vote I believe they want to hear more from the community to get good reactions when it launches, after all, people chose, a thousand times happy than unhappy
I'm hoping for the v-notch and bead style, just like the Olsson .308. That is by far my favorite iron sight in the game
Ok?
Yeah, except the bead might be slightly bigger for faster shots
I like the 450 though I really want it like the Ruger Alaskan: https://www.michaelbane.tv/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Ruger-450-Bushmaster-Alaskan.jpg
I hate polymer but if we had the option to use the wood pallets in the cosmetic packs that would be perfect.
I'm ordering one of these. Ruger's Guide rifle in .375. But if the .450 is a good stopping rifle it might be a better choice I. The devil's club
I have alot of reasons why I want the 450Bush personally. But as a 200yd caliber it hits hard. 375H&H yea its a powerhouse hands down as an all around caliber just expensive 😅
Yeah, it's not one to shoot just for fun. Even reloading is nuts
tell me about it esp. in todays market.
D*MN it
I tried to get rid of my .350L ammo and the only guy I knew that had one sold it so he doesn't need ammo
Ex. Hornady ammo - IRL

What if it’s something like this: the rail is supposed to have a scope on it, but since it’s an early development build they haven’t implemented it yet?
We will see
Either way it’s not a nice mounting for scopes
Great, if so.
But like I said before, all the scopes have a rail attached to them that is used to mount them on the rifle even if the rifle has a rail built on it
Idk if they'd even consider it but for exceptionally hard recoiling rifles it takes a stronger scope. Maybe with the .375 we could get a 2-6x30mm (or at least close) scope specifically for it.
Other guns have specific scopes, like the hudzik or the lever actions (which neither actually needs, they could both mount regular scopes just fine)
All I will say is I find 16x crazy in this game as I personally can see fine with 8x both in game and IRL at very far ranges
I used the 16x once when I first bought it and never again
Irl would use irons out very far too
Yeah some irons I can
@mighty rampart Do you still do anti poaching?
He should be specific terror orgs in Africa still gets a good chunk of their revenue off of illegal hunting of ivory and other stuff I watched a whole docuseries on it
Yes
Horse
What about horse?
H O N S E
damn where'd you find this picture of me
Haha
Found out today that someone in our gun club has a .500 NE singleshot I might get to try out
Boom stick
WHY DID WE GET SCRAWNY KUDU WHEN IMPALA ARE THIS FREAKING AMAZING
Dapple. I had no idea impala could even be this color
These are sold as breeding stock but I gotta know if this can naturally occur. Also.
Impala Great One?
BI color very rare variant?
Oh nice
Why did we get lesser kudu is my question
If they wanted a medium sized spiral-horned antelope, the Nyala is present in several countries in Southern Africa
Also, why springboks when there was gazelles?
Would have preferred impala over speingbok
I'd have much preferred impala and grants gazelle
I would have loved a Chevy Impala instead of springbok
Have you caught any poachers?
I got a lesser kudu with miss matched horns like this guy. Still rather have impala in game
This would be awesome
Personally I’ve not grabbed and arrested one, but I’ve worked in successful reaction patrols that have caught them if that makes sense ( we’ve followed their tracks with dogs and reported it in so that we can find and intercept them)
Does anyone know why the lesser kudu was added to the Vurhonga Savanna instead of the greater kudu? When in South Africa the greater kudu is much more famous for hunting, and the greater kudu is hunted mainly in Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Better map :)
It's still rough around the edges (literally) but I wanted to share it
||I also fixed your name @mystic token 💀 ||
I wish I could tell you why, but I can’t find any logic behind their decision
Dude this looks amazing, your continued work on this always surprises me. Gets even better each time you update us!
Would you feel confident making a reserve logo?
Most likely to better diversify the animals, greater kudu would be what, 7/8? And with lesser kudu being where they're at, it makes more sense game-wise to have them instead
That looks real you got some real fictional cartography skills
Idk what EW is waiting so long for the community has already done the concept and species list
Jaxy said on stream a while ago that if they did Africa 2.0 it would probably be one of their last maps because nothing could top it (which just flat out isn’t true), but that was also long before this post went massive, so their road map might have changed.,
Well yeah a arctic map would be peak
Honestly any map EW will make will be good. Even NEM is good, simply because of how beautiful it is. If they make a map with new species, it’s going to be insanely good.
Very true but we won’t know much they are pretty secretive I am always haunted by “I can nether confirm nor deny”-Jaxybreard
I kinda like how secretive they are about it. It adds to the hype and it makes people extra excited when they reveal what the map is.
That’s true I am never really annoyed by the secrecy it just can be a bit frustrating when the New thing is almost out
Idk you have had some pretty great map ideas I was looking threw the suggestions and I saw the two
Actually, the most frustrating thing in my opinion is that they decided to make one map per year instead of two as they had been doing in previous years.
I don’t really mind it the maps have been fire
For me, a little bit yes, because before we had a lot of new content, two DLCs and two new maps per year and now we have three or two DLCs and one map per year, I see that as a bit decadent.
Yeah but with one map per year they get to put a lot more time into the models ,maps ,animations and features which makes the maps in my opinion a whole lot more enjoyable than the I feel kinda of rushed 2
I could actually do that although I'm not an 'icon' focused person so yeahh
I'll try tho
Since they have dropped to one map a year the maps have def increased in quality
Have shots ever been fired?
Yes
That’s a nice looking one
Do Cape Buffalo really spit urine on hunter? I remember hearing that they can mark hunters who climb trees like that to track them later 💀
A patrol becomes special whenever I see one of these bad boys
No idea what your saying here
Dang! You saw a black rhino! That’s impressive I must say
My first time seeing one, amazing creature.
If I was there I would have done nothing but take pictures for an hour
Urine doesn’t come out from the mouth lol
That is really cool
Nice! Young animals are a good sign for the population so it's even better to see them. Now you just gotta make sure they stay safe
Side note, anybody poaching rhinos/elephants deserve a thorn in their foot every 3rd step
You’ll be happy to hear that elephant poaching has become pretty rare here.
We’ve not had a single call out for an elephant carcass in 3 years.
That's awesome
Nice, good to hear it's slowing down so much!
Oh, I'm talking about a video I saw a while ago where a hunter said this
I didn't say it comes out of his mouth, but rather that he licks it and "spits it out" 🤣 maybe a myth
Sounds like it would be
yes, that's what I'm thinking too, the guy was reacting to videos and commented, I don't remember which video it was, it must have been a joke
2 min ago
Scary and cool at the same time
Scary cool
Crazy
at that point mount a .50 cal M2 Browning machine gun onto the truck
Could you hear bones crunching? That close I'd almost expect it
Why?
Probably because poachers shot at them first
Do you quite like animals Wellington? Seems like a cool job
Not like a nature fanatic, I just know the value of the stuff I see while doing this job. Must say though that the wildlife grows on me more and more everyday
Right now very scary, they’re outside my picket, next to the other team who’s here with me.
Those guys must be shitting themselves right now
And just like that..,ghost and the darkness
Audio not doing it justice, they’re around 70ish meters from us.
Maybe 15 from team 2
hyenas?
Any plans for if they get closer?
The lions from earlier, they moved into our pickets
Not really much we can do about it either. Team 2 has no firearms. I’ve only got a shotgun that double feeds all the time and has a weak fireingpin.
Yep…more and more like ghost and the darkness
You are gonna have some very fun pub stories when you make your way back to the UK
If they try to climb onto the roof of the ruined building my team are in we will fire warning shots
If they still manage to get onto the roof we will defend ourselves
If we hear anyone from team two calling out to us, then I don’t know. We have to do something. But we’re extremely limited by the fact that we know there’s at least 9-13 in this area that we saw recently.
The question is would we have time to jump off the roof and into one of the pickups before getting chowed?
First step probably lots of warning shots and yelling.
You have a questionably operating shotgun…I’m sure you would at least get to the door before being overrun
I’ll use it as a club
The doom eternal soundtrack playing in the background as you’re fighting off a lion
I hope you all make it out fine
I mean ffs you are in lion territory, they should at least make sure you have decent weapons to defend yourselves
This is anti-poaching. We are not given government funding and make do with what we have.
Luckily we have our wits about us
Had me worried there for a bit. Did the lions leave?
Can I send you guys a donation? Like, anything?
Negative it’s a private company.
