Florida is a state known for beaches and parties, but few know about the amazing hunting this state has to offer. This private game ranch features swamps as well as thick subtropical forests, marshland and a few fields. It is home to several native and non-native species that can only be hunted here.

To avoid this map feeling like a Mississippi remake I tried to include many unique native small-game species, as well as introduced game species and I feel like the terrain would be quite different. This map would also be perfect to introduce boats and/or a retriever dog. I tried to make this very similar to Revontuli, in the variation of species despite there not being any unique big game here.
Let me know what you think!!

Now this is a Florida reserve I can get behind

Here’s some of the larger new species, the python most likely wouldn’t be arboreal due to the game engine but it would provide a very interesting animal model and would be one of the highlights of this map.
Osceola Turkeys would complete the NA Turkey Grand Slam and are one of Florida’s most iconic native game species.
Iguanas would be very interesting to come across and would bring a new reptile species to the game.
Beavers, Otters and Nutria would behave much like alligators or crocs and would be seen on land or swimming, beavers could also have euro rabbit like lodges where they could be seen often. This would allow them to be backfilled to other maps as well.
Marsh Rabbits would be a lot like cottontails or any other smaller rabbit species

The otter is an interesting addition (and savage little things too)

Here’s the array of upland birds, with quail and doves being found in the fields/more dry areas and the snipe and gallinule being found in marshes.

#

I picked these 5 waterfowl species because they are very popular in Florida and because there’s lots of variety. In reality there are probably 20 ducks species to be chosen from, but this leaves some unique ones to be added in other places.

Snakes might be very interesting with this reserve

Could use coyotes (with a rework)

#

It would seem that you can also hunt four horned rams,Feral Goat (Island Goat),Skunk,Opossum and Père David’s deer on a game ranch something your reserve is based on?

#

They seem to have Watusi and Nilgai As well!

fleet temple
#

Not every reserve needs to be packed with big game

#

Though I do like the idea of Pere Davids Deer being included and the wild sheep would be neat, though I lean more towards the Corsican Black-bellied/Texan Dall/Black Hawaiian/Painted Desert type (images are all in order)

#

And the way I figured is all those sheep could all be fur types, though what the animal would be called has eluded me (the animal could just be called Corsican Sheep and the Black-belly would be a common fur type, idk)

I personally believe that the small game side of things for this reserve is pretty good all things considered

rain nimbus

But that is all based on personal preference,EW will pick and choose what they see fit.

The Snipe would be perfect for those who love upland hunting

For me it is a different bird from the upland birds we already have, and as a result it should show up at some point, I know there are people who wanted American Woodcock on New England

I’ve decided to add the Barasingha/Swamp Deer, Pére David’s Deer and the Nilgai. These 3 exotic species I feel would increase the interest from big game hunters. I chose them because none of them are going to be featured in their native ranges and because they occupy ecosystems similar to south/central florida naturally.

#

This would also allow for a pére david’s backfill to parque and nilgai could appear in a texas reserve map as they are more commonly hunted there anyway

Imo Nilgai should be either Class 8 or 9 because some large males tank .50 BMG and walk a solid 50-70ft keep in mind they got hit with a .50.

i think im gonna bump them to 8 tho

rain nimbus
wheat sonnet

yeah they are very tough for their size there’s no doubt abt that, then again you can kill a whitetail with a .22 rim fire with a perfect shot so it basically all comes down to how comfortable someone is

I Don’t Believe That There’s Nilgai In Florida, But Maybe I’m Wrong

I really think the right region for a Florida preserve would be the Eastern Floorida Flatwoods + Central Pine uplands and the Sandhills + Eastern FLorida Flatwoods, which are ecoregions that haven't been integrated yet.

There are numerous hunting and wildlife management areas in central Florida, any of them can be taken as reference information, and I think the one that best fits this thread is the Apalachicola National Forest

Adding tegu's would be awesome. That or Nile monitors. Their behaviour being similar to crocs.

This Is My Rendition Of This Map. The Brown Areas Would Be Covered In Mangroves, Tallgrass Swamps, And Muddy Embankments. The Green Areas Would Be A Mix Of Subtropical Forests And Grasslands, With Stands Of Magnolia, Longleaf Pine, Loblolly Bay, Bald Cypress, And Swamp Oaks Spread Throughout.

This will at least be better then mississippi acres lol

especially if a hunting kayak was added, that would be amazing

Honestly don't think I could find it in my heart to shoot an otter but I can see them adding Burmese and reticulated pythons since they are over populated there. They could add TONS of variations for them for colors like dozens

yeah definitely but typically the ones that are hunted are mostly burmese so it would just be easier to add them

american crocodiles would also be another great species to add to this reserve

#

A new weapon that could be added along with the reserve is a .410 shotgun due to all the small animals

now some of these would be returning species!

i love the new barasinga and nilgai models, it would be great to see these in this map as well

I added two new species to the map, the invasive Argentine Black and White Tegu, and the Corsican Sheep. With the addition of nilgai and barasingha to the game I wanted more new species. Thanks @hallow atlas and @fleet temple for the suggestions.

With Sundarpatan, I could see Barasingha working out alright on this map

I did not know that there are Ranches were you can hunt critically endangered species. But it just sounds wrong to hunt critically endangered species.

Hunting Pythons or Iguanas would be fun

Would Iguanas be a species similar to the Python in terms of their invasive story.

I ended up thinking of this map while watching a video from the HuntPrimitive Youtube channel yesterday so I have a weapon suggestion: The Atlatl Spear Thrower. With its massive hog population and with this reserve having a good variety of game I think it would be an interesting inclusion for this reserve

Still the best Florida map i have seen.

humble cloak
#

I like the idea but we need a place with native animals (including hogs and coyotes even though they’re invasive and not native) the idea of exotic animals even with it being a hunting ranch just doesn’t fit well with Florida

#

You don’t really find iguanas up here and I just think the idea of so many of these smaller game such as otters and iguanas just isn’t something you’d find someone hunting

So the reserve would be around the Osceola county area?

But quite frankly I (didn’t make this post) just see all the non native species as a way to differentiate it from Mississippi Acres. Many of these species I’ve viewed fence hopping during my visits.

It’s based around Southern Florida and the general Everglades area, I am not from Florida but I have been there multiple times, not to go hunting, but I understand that many people aren’t big on the idea of game ranches. Despite this, Florida is one of the most common states to find these in outside of Texas, and also due to the limited number of native big game species, I thought that this would be a cool setting to get not only unique terrain and bird/small game hunting, but also some big game that would be only found in ranches. Also all of these species can be found on ranches in Florida, it’s not just hypothetical.

humble cloak

It might be huntable but it doesn't fit Florida in a whole, it should be native species to actually show Florida

I’m not trying to argue either but for all intents and purposes a Florida map without exotic species would just be Mississippi with more birds, and different terrain. That would be cool and fun to play but the demand wouldn’t be that high and I doubt EW would put that much time into it. Maybe a smaller map like the one that just came out, but for a full size Florida map it would need to have something unique about it

sonic zodiac

Tegu as a new tier 2 would be very interesting.

#

And would give more options for a reptile hunt than two crocodilians. I completely expected a Missisisspsppssuheisiiiiii knock off but am now completely convinced we need a Florida map with some invasive reptiles, farmed antelope, miscreant goats.
