#🇨🇦POLAR BEARS IN CANADA - Whiterime Ridge Wilderness: Based on the Northwest Territories 🇨🇦
1 messages · Page 4 of 1
You could add polar pears because they do show up there along several new birds, arctic foxes and more
EW revive him
Why would I add Polar Bears to a Newfoundland Reserve when this whole reserve concept was designed with Polar Bears in mind?
True true
25 away from 800

On a side note for the map. I really like how it incorporates Whiterime Ridge from Classic. I wish we saw more of this with other maps. they only did that same concept with Hirschfelden.
That is what inspired me to draw the map the way I did
I took a screenshot of the map in the game and then drew around it

(779/800)

Wildlife of Whiterime Ridge Part 7: Muskoxen
The muskox is a large shaggy animal that lives in the tundra areas and a relic of a time when mammoths, ground sloths, cave lion, horse and scimitar-toothed cats once lived in these lands (And occasionally bones from these animals are unearthed)
They mainly live out on the tundra and inhabit many of the offshore islands as they are one of the few herbivores capable of making the most of the few plants the tundra has though some specimen have been seen in the northern parts of the Grizzly Mountains and a few small groups have made the southern parts of the Great Buffalo Lake Region their home
When threatened by wolves, their primary predator, muskox will form a defensive circle to protect their young and while this is effective against wolves, its not as effective against humans with guns and bows
Despite appearing like a large shaggy bovine they are more related to sheep and goats with their closest genetic relatives being the Gorals of Eastern Asia
Wood Bison are the largest land mammal on Whiterime Ridge Wilderness and the fact that a huntable population exist on the reserve is a result of a successful reintroduction program that started with bison from Elk Island National Park in Alberta and the Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary in the Northwest Territories (where Whiterime Ridge Wilderness is set)
They were once thought extinct after 7000 Plains Bison that were infected with illnesses were introduced to Wood Buffalo National Park, but a herd of 200 was found in Northern Alberta and therefore the wood bison were able to avoid extinction
The bison on Whiterime Ridge have a wide range from the northern slopes of the Grizzly Mountains to the southern shores of the Great Buffalo Lake
When hunting these animals it is wise to use a powerful rifle like the 300 Magnum or 375 Magnum or strong arrows and bolts to ensure these animals go down in one shot. At close range a wounded bison is no less dangerous then a wounded Cape Buffalo, and several hunters and multiple tourist have been injured by the animals

(782/1000)

And Medved taiga
There should be polar bear in medved
I disagree for the reason being that Medved Taiga does not have much in the way of suitable Polar Bear habitat like coastal tundra and sea ice
Sure the northern part of the map has that big frozen bay but Polar Bears would be very limited in where they can actually live on Medved
(786/800)
800 by 2025? 👀
only time will tell lol
That wouldn’t be bad, we are only 11 away from 800
We just need 2 or 3 likes a day, totally duable

10 more away from 800

Wildlife of Whiterime Ridge Part 8: Walrus
The largest pinniped on Whiterime Ridge, it does have a comical appearance with their large tusk but its these tusk and their thick blubber that have helped them survive in the Arctic
While both Pacific and Atlantic Walrus have been recorded on the reserve, it seems as though the Atlantic Walrus is the only one to have a permanent population throughout the reserve
They prefer to feed on bivalve mollusk like clams, which they find by blowing jets of water on the seabed and using their whiskers to find their prey before sucking the meat out of the shells
They also feed on other bottom dwelling invertebrates and slow-moving fish and have been occasionally seen hunting injured seals or feeding on whale carrion
While they appear slow on land it does not mean you should get close as will stampede back into the water and the occasional bull will turn and charge, as a walrus on land is capable of matching the average run speed of a human, and they are even faster in water and they have also been known to overturn boats when threatened
Their tusk are used to not only haul out on land but also have use in combat with reports of polar bears being killed by walrus. That thick hide and blubber of theirs also helps protect themselves from other walrus during violent disputes
If using a rifle choose a calibre like the 375 Magnum and aim for the brain
Some Weapons I would recommend for hunting on Whiterime Ridge Wilderness
- Vallgarda 375: Polar Bear, Walrus, Grizzly, Muskox and Wood Bison are all large and dangerous
- Zagan Varminter 22-250/Ranger 243/Whitlock Model 86: These rifles will be useful for hunting animals like Arctic Fox, Beaver, Ringed Seal and Canada Lynx
- The 243 and 30-30 will allow you to hunt animals like Bearded Seals and Peary's Caribou
- Moradi Model 1894/Coachmate Lever 45-70: If you like lever-actions, one of these would be good to bring, but if your packing the 375, choose the Moradi instead
- I would love to see the 45-70 Rifle get a buff
- 454 Revolver: A suitable self-defence revolver
- Your favourite 4-8 Rifle will be good in covering caribou, wolf, sheep and goat
- If you are bringing a bow or crossbow, always make sure to have the Class 9 arrows on hand
- 10 or 12 Gauge Shotguns will suffice for wingshooting
- A 22LR or 22 Hornet will be useful for hunting small game
7mm 22-250 22lr 12ga got it
Musk Ox would make for a better species to add to Medved. They’d fit fairly well in the Eastern side of the map.
(I know it’s a lot more forested than their natural habitat, but the southern portions of the Yamal Peninsula do have populations of Musk Ox).
Really looking forward to seeing this become reality!
Mountain hare can also go on there but in their winter morphs with the molting/brown furs being rare as an inverse of revontuli.
Also a rewilding effort in Siberia to bring back the mammoth steppe is using multiple large species like musk ox and bison
Pleistocene Park or is it another one that I didn’t know about?
Yes that one
Eh, I also disagree with that idea
There really isn’t enough Tundra on the eastern side
Plus realistically Canada & Greenland have the lion’s share of the global muskox population and are the two main places people go to hunt Muskox
True, not disagreeing there. Medved should have more tundra seeing as it’s literally above the Arctic Circle by a large margin.
Canada should be the place to introduce Musk Ox in game

I’d be fine with not getting Muskox on Medved for authenticity sake
Like Vurhonga, Medved could use a remake
Not as extreme as what Vurhonga would need as all Medved would need is to be pushed a fair bit further east to be in snow sheep and musk deer territory and have some mountains for said snow sheep
(791/800)
There’s some mountains basically straight south of the map border that look fairly well rendered already, not entirely sure why they weren’t included on the map in the first place.
They just have to enlarge the map to the south and it's good we have more mountains and the mountains are not forested so this can be ideal for less forested animals. after a disc drive problem on my console it's been a while since I've been on this map so it's actually messed up but if that's not the case, yes it could be practical

Four more to go until 800! How this hasn't reached 1000 already is insane this is by far my second most wanted map in North America behind British Columbia ( sorry Moosedragon ) but it's a necessity for COTW

It would be really great if that range was brought into fruition.
3 more until 800
We got this!!!
While walrus and seal will have to rest on land or ice flows, they do feed out in the water, which will mean no drink zones and most importantly a different way for their feeding zones to work. They way I envisioned it is that while the feed zones can be found along the coastal areas where land meets water, the walrus and seals will actually be out in the water, and since they have to surface to get air, that is when you pick them off with a well placed rifle shot to the brain. Alternatively you can catch them at their rest zones since they have to come to land to rest after all
Wildlife of Whiterime Ridge Part 10: Polar Bear
The largest predatory land animal on Whiterime Ridge Wilderness and the only one that will actively hunt humans, so before we get talking abotu the fun facts here is some tips to ensure your survival
- Pack a suitable firearm. If hunting with a rifle then nothing less then 300 with 375 being preferred by the Wardens. If bow-hunting pack something like a 10 Gauge Shotgun with slugs or a 454 Revolver
- If you wish to avoid polar bear encounters hunt away from the coast, they don't often wander far inland this time of year as the pack ice is where their preferred prey of ringed seal are found
- Make sure to have your will written out in case a polar bear decides to make a meal out of you
With that out of the way lets go over the fun stuff. Polar Bears rarely drink water during the winter months as they get most of their water from the blubber of seals, walrus and even beluga whale, which explains why they seem to prefer hunting seal
Their fur is a fantastic source of camouflage and on several occasions hunters on Whiterime have stumbled into a sleeping bear that they mistook for a snow drift, and thankfully these hunters got to live to tell their stories
Whiterime is unique in that it is the only place in the Northwest Territories where a hunter does not need an Inuit Guide to hunt Polar Bear. In the rest of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, visiting hunters require an Inuit Guide and is often conducted with sled dog teams, and of course the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are the only places in the world where non-indigenous hunters can still hunt polar bear, good thing both territories have a sizable polar bear population
So close to 800!
only two more!
If we can reach 800 before New Years, we can easily make 1000 by Summer 2025
800 by new years places us around 1150-1350 upvotes by the start of the actual season (late May)
Solid traction on this, hope it goes somewhere
1 away! Let's get some Snowy beautiful Canada biomes in this game!
2 more, let's get it before we start the year when we get this map!!!
Some menace removed a like right before the new years 😭
1 moooreeee
Still 😭
come on!!! one more upvote!!!
Few hours leeeffftt til new yeaaar
800!!!!!!!!
800 upvotes for the Arctic Canada!! 🎉🇨🇦
I want to wish everyone here a happy new year and congratulate for entering the year that we finally got Polar bears and this map in the game!! 2025!!!
that makes it 800 at 2:55 PM USMDT on December 31, 2024!
here's to another 800 down the road! 🍻
Glad to see it hit 800
Lets see how many more we can get before Summer 2025
At least 1000
(801/1000) Based on the species list of mine, the only ones that wouldn't have drink zones are mountain goats, seals and walrus, and for the walrus and seals it would make sense given that they spend a lot of their time out in the ocean

bump to my favorite thread 🫶
Love it! Definitely should be added. I would love to walk along the wide open plains waiting for ptarmigan to spook and fly up. They should be in flocks for 15-20 at most and 7 at least
Ptarmigan are not the only upland bird on the species but will likely be the most common and Rock Ptarmigan will likely be the most widespread
White tailed ptarmigan? They are found in the northern Yukon and the north west territories, may be a multimount with all 3 ptarmigan would be cool if they add them
I am surprised I overlooked them, I added Mule Deer with the condition that they stay in a small part of the map, and I included mountain goat and northern mountain caribou, consider them added @hardy osprey
Neat

Hen longtails are seriously underated

(815/1000), the Long-tailed duck has a very striking appearance with both males and females having a distinctive plumage. Hunters seeking unique waterfowl for their trophy rooms will target these ducks. They used to be called Oldsquaw but that name feel out of favour in the early 2000s, especially in North America. (I will be occasionally sharing interesting facts about the wildlife, the region Whiterime Ridge Wilderness is based on and later on weapons and local culture to occasionally bump this up)

Bumping this so this continues to get attention (816/1000)
Fun fact: While drones might be legal for use by hunters in several US states, they are illegal in the Northwest Territories and by extension illegal in Whiterime Ridge Wilderness
Who would wanna add drones? I've neeeeever heard something like that.
I know right

Weapon Fact: The Ross Rifle is a straight-pull bolt action rifle that was produced in Canada from 1903 until 1918. While it wasn't all that suitable for the trench warfare that was all too common in World War 1, it found itself useful in the hands of snipers within the Canadian Expeditionary Force until the end of the war due to it's exceptional accuracy. That trait alone makes it a suitable rifle for hunting animals like caribou, Dall's sheep, wolf and mountain goat here on Whiterime Ridge Wilderness (The Ross Rifle is on the list of potential weapons chambered in 280 Ross and I had it listed for Class 3 to 7 Animals from what I remember)

🇨🇦
one day we will hit 1k
❄️
(819/1000) The Dall's sheep is an important game animal here on Whiterime Ridge for both local hunters and those who come here from all over the world to hunt. Dall's Sheep were historically hunted when caribou numbers were down and while they are still hunted for their meat, its the rams that draws people into the Western half of Whiterime Ridge where the snow capped mountains hold everything the sheep need to survive. One particularly well travelled local has posted a challenge for visiting hunters to bag a Dall's Sheep ram, a trophy Western Moose, Muskox Bull and a Polar Bear in one week within the namesake region of the Reserve, and several hunters have succeeded despite the challenging conditions
Imagine we get Greenland and don't get Dall sheep.... we already been let down with Yukon's release when it comes to that
Thats why I am hoping its a Canadian Arctic Map
I'm just afraid that "Greenland" been mentioned a lot before this suggestion was made pointing towards Arctic Canada being better. And if that's the case, they might go with Greenland, thinking that it's a better choice because it's been mentioned for longer ...

(820/1000)
Hopefully this happens so we can get another class 8 animal
bump
👍

(824/1000)

(825/1000)

(829/1000) While many people come here to hunt, it can also be a rather popular fishing locale. The larger lakes are home to lake trout, northern pike and several species of whitefish like the lake whitefish and round whitefish while the rivers and streams are home to the Arctic grayling, Arctic Char, Sheefish and Chum Salmon, but do keep some bear spray and a powerful weapon on hand as both Grizzly Bears and the occasional Polar Bear like to feed on the migrating sheefish or chum salmon (Inspired by #1331538681785221130 )

👍

Something something give us a great caribou map
Remaster those bad boys and it would make Yukon even better in the process.
Honestly, the coolest thing to see on a current map (that would apply to this type of map too) would be vast herds of remastered Caribou roaming on Rustline Ridge. Give us new antler variations, velvet, bloody antlers in mid-velvet shed, etc. I want to feel like I'm one of the Realtree bowhunters in the middle of a sea of passing Caribou. 😂
Also more accurate antlers in terms of average size because I've seen Nunavut, Newfoundland and North Ontario caribou in the wild and on average most bulls have a huge complete rack unlike in game
Caribou/Reindeer have the largest antler-to-body ratio of any deer species in the world. That's not reflected in this game and it should be.
Let him cook
I also will never not be so confused as to how ugly the newer Caribou models are vs the older Reindeer models. How do you screw up a newer model of an already great looking in-game species??
After Africa 2.0 (assuming it would have the rest of the dangerous 7) this would be my dream map. Would love to have some polar bears, walrus and musk ox in my lodge
Odds are good this one is probably next, given the teaser at the end of the Winter Showcase. But yes, definitely want both.
I certainly hope so. I've noticed a lot of people guessing Alberta too, but if I'm going to be honest, that sounds really boring compared to a full blown arctic map

Alberta is great hunting IRL and beautiful landscapes to boot
But I will say I don't see any new species being added in that map
The only way I see EW adding an Alberta map is if part of the map included British Columbia and NWT or a small game map.
Alberta doesn't even make the top ten for hunting in North America. British Columbia and Nuvant made the top ten. B.C. at 2 and Nuvant at 6
Idk man Alberta produces for me and it has less of them BC hippy regulations
incredible, big support! i love whiterime ridge and would welcome a COTW version. my only wish would be for the Classic map to be integrated into the larger potential COTW map, similar to how Hirschfelden was handled, for that good good familiarity factor (and the lucrative hunting spot that is the hot springs)
Alberta is Great! It just doesn't have enough new species for a big map. If we get Alberta this is what I would want
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1310499800491229264
Yeah I said the same thing Alberta doesn't offer anything new while your map and this one do
(833/1000)

(838/1000)

precisely why i said that ngl
Yeah, I don't see Alberta working as a setting for a new reserve unless it is either a smaller map focused on small game (beaver, snowshoe hare, sandhill crane, geese, grouse, partridge) in a similar manner to Salzwiesen Park or if it is released alongside a massive back-fill like New England Mountains was, meaning that it would have mostly returning species
The lack of new big game species that would come with a map set in Alberta is one of the reasons why I chose to set this map in the Northwest Territories (Polar Bears and Dall's Sheep were other reasons)
Tbh honest, i think the guesses for Alberta were mainly coming from the species that were selected for those new fur and antler/horn variations in that vote they had a couple weeks ago. Sounds like Alberta is pretty much the only place that has all the species...not sure i believe that but still, even if it is, yeah that doesn't really change the fact it would fall into the New England category of map. I'd buy it regardless, but yeah, I think we can all agree an Arctic map would be more exciting. After how Emerald Coast and Sundarpatan turned out with new species I think it would be in EW's best interest to continue that crazy trend.
I mean… it was explicitly stated the animals in the poll had nothing to do with the next map
When was this?
It was in the main body of the polls description.
An update to the Grey Wolves could come with this reserve

WDYM by 842 out of 1000
We need to reach 1000 before this map releases in June
Not related to this post, but @nimble smelt do you remember when or if I gave you a name idea for a multi-mount? If so, what post was it on? I want to revisit it
I can’t remember
All good
1000 what
Likes or views
This is fire though
Will it actually release with all the animals and details in june
Thumbs ups
This was the first teaser for the map coming in June, we're hoping it's this map and it only makes sense
It will unlikely have that giant list of species but I expect to see Polar Bear, Walrus, Muskox, Dall's Sheep, Ringed Seal, Spruce Grouse, Wolverine and either Snow Goose or King Eider for new species and Grizzly Bear, Caribou, Moose, Ptarmigan and Wolf as returning species
Winter Preview Show.
Thanks
There's a 9.3x62mm straight pull rifle in classic that I'd love to see in cotw. It's the engraved Anschutz rifle, I forget the model exactly but it would be such a unique rifle. Ideally we'd get a plain blued steel and walnut one for the map and the engraved version as a quest reward (man eating polar bear?)
Idea, third variant of the Anschutz that has clearly been mauled. Teeth and claw marks, found on a path while searching for a missing hunter.
To set it apart from the others, it has aperture sights, a light colored wood stock and leather cheek pad with ammo loops.
It originally belonged to an old timer in the area and he put some work into it to make it his own.
🇨🇦

Using my map as reference, here is my more realistic species list. By Realistic I am referring to the fact that they will not include 41 types of animals (including 4 Caribou subspecies) on one map
Returning Species (6)
- Grizzly Bear: Found all across the mainland, not found on the islands. Should get a remodel with this map
- Moose: Found all across the mainland, not found on the islands
- Caribou: Found all over the entire map. Should get a complete rework
- Grey Wolf: Found across the mainland, comes with new fur types
- Rock Ptarmigan: Found across the entire map
- Goldeneye: Found across the Mainland
Brand New Species (16)
- Polar Bear (Class 9): Found across the islands and the coastal areas of the Whiterime Ridge and Arvik Coast Regions
- Walrus (Class 9): Found across the islands and the coastal areas of the Whiterime Ridge and Arvik Coast Regions
- Wood Bison (Class 9): Found throughout the wooded areas of the mainland
- Muskox (Class 8): Found throughout the tundra areas of the mainland and all the islands
- Arctic Wolf (Class 4 or 5): Found on the Arctic Islands. Often seen hunting Muskox
- Dall's Sheep (Class 4): Found in the Whiterime Ridge and Grizzly Mountains regions
- Ringed Seal (Class 3): Found along the coastal areas of the mainland and all the islands
- Wolverine (Class 2 or 3): Found all over the map. Generally rare with around 6 wolverine per region (3 male & 3 female)
- Arctic Fox (Class 2): Found in the tundra areas of the mainland and the islands
- American Beaver (Class 2): Found in the wooded areas and muskeg in the southern half of the map
- Snowshoe Hare: Found all over the mainland
- Hoary Marmot: Found in the mountains alongside Dall's Sheep
- Sharp-tailed Grouse: Found in the boreal forest and mountains
- Spruce Grouse: Found in the southern half of the map
- Snow Goose: Found all across the map
- King Eider: Found in the coastal areas and the islands

Would like the emperor goose
They only exist in Alaska, you should check out #1118713888410706042 for Emperor Goose

Definitly hoping for the first 3 animals, especially the Walrus.
I never saw that. But that's definitely a relief. I'm seldom actually on discord. In fact i kind of just ignored the poll when it was up because when they showed the species list on Facebook, none of them were animals i thought needed more furs or antler variations to be completely honest with you
The only animal that needed anything were wolves. The wolf furs suck. There’s not a single one that looks like the vast majority of Northwestern Gray Wolves.
And hopefully they get that fix with an Arctic Reserve like this one
Swapped out the Mule Deer for the Arctic Wolf. The Arctic Wolves would inhabit the offshore islands alongside animals like polar bear and muskox. A potential interaction between the wolves and muskox would involve the famous defensive circle that the muskox are known for when wolves approach too closely
Yup, good call. That would be awesome to see!

Fred Eichler's polar bear with a recurve bow, I want to recreate this

Can I pet dat dawg?!
Ain't no dawg I know fella

Give me the land of ice and snow!

(852/1000)

I'd say scrub hare could use some. I mean, what kind of animal has only light grey as a rare?
They could definitely do with a remodel and new furs but they weren't in the poll, so it's just gray wolves for the time being

This could be a side mission that involves taking a polar bear at close range with something like a recurve, long bow or cable-backed bow
Yeah, that'd be great actually, maybe do it with a cable backed bow for a custom cable backed bow with like sturgeon leather backing and caribou horn tips

I present, the Cari-bow
-# i know this isn't very realistic so plz don't bash me anyone
@oak quail I love your art
Possible new world record caribou

Let me add, this woman killed this 'bou 4 months after surviving a grizzly attack and did it on a fly in solo hunt
That is metal 🤘
Indeed, she earned that bull the hard way and deserves the record

Live
reaction
That is one big polar bear
G1 Polar bear, although a G1 Polar bear would be very limited if they wanted to do it, I think Grizzlies or Brwn bear would be a better choice
Walrus that had 4 tusks
(853/1000)
not sure if this is gon happen anymore
Explain. I wanna know why you think that.
What do you mean? Explain yourself or face the council
Christmas in July 🤠
So excited for a new snowy map
Same, I think I might make a new loadout specifically for something like this map.
Explain what you mean by that
Just a couple more months
My Realistic/Cut-Down Species List (Original Species list had 41 Species/Subspecies) plus the map concept
List of Potential Weapons (I have added 4 more weapons to the list, 2 of which will also be included on my Zambian Reserve #1099469747323670729 )
- Reverse Draw Crossbow
- Inuit Cable-backed Bow
- 454 Lever-action Rifle
- 10 Gauge Bolt-action Goose Gun
- SKS Rifle
- 9.3x62 Straight-pull Rifle
- Twinshot Crossbow
- 280 Ross Bolt-action Rifle
- 22 Magnum Revolver (Good for chasing after beavers to get vengence for all your fallen stands and tents)
- 50 AE Semi-auto Pistol (Yes I am including the Desert Eagle)
- 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle (Good for hunting foxes, hares, beavers and grouse)
- 376 Steyr Scout Rifle (Would be more suitable for an African Reserve but I could not pass it up)
It depends on some of the smaller critters on the new map, but I think my Medved/Yukon loadout will be perfect for it. Vallgarda .375, M1, 10mm, and then I alternate between the .22-250, Strandberg 10 ga, and the 70lb compound depending on the situation. Always carry the rangefinder binos, NV binos, Odin and Angler sights, handgun red dot, rifle/shotgun red dot, scent killer, and med kits.
.375 is definitely going to be a mainstay. I’ll likely alternate between the Olsson and .450 depending on what ends up on the map and the .243 pistol because the cuomo just feels right on Medved for some reason so I suspect it’ll be the same on this map.
Idk just really popular and haven’t even talked about it yet
I mean… we’re not even halfway to the release time yet
June! They better not delay it till July lol
I always thought they released in July? June is preferable though
I feel this image will be more common on this discord server in the very near future
Because it's FLAWLESS
Im stealing this

Love this Beeing used

Trying to make that happen https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1339660383098503282

I didn't even know that could happen. I walruses do get added...and i REALLY hope they do...that might as well be a great one
Multi mount idea...
I recall making a list of multi-mounts that include a polar bear and walrus fight Edit: I did not include that idea on my multi-mount list, I shall make a new multi-mount list
Very neat idea
Multi-Mount List for Whiterime Ridge Wilderness
- Clash of the Titans: 1 Polar Bear & 1 Walrus (Both Male)
- Eider Down: 1 Male Arctic Fox & 4 King Eider (2 Male & 2 Female)
- King of the North: 1 Male Polar Bear & 1 Arctic Wolf
- Mountain Clash: 2 Male Dall's Sheep
- Food Taxation: 1 Male Wolverine, 1 Male Grizzly Bear & 1 Female Caribou
- Impasse: 2 Arctic Wolves (Male & Female) & 1 Muskox Bull
- Woodland Behemoth: 1 Wood Bison Bull & 3 Spruce Grouse (1 Male & 2 Female)
- The Great Duel: 2 Male Walrus
- Overpopulated: 5 Male Snow Geese
- 2 of a Kind: 1 Male Grey Wolf & 1 Male Arctic Wolf
- Arctic Titans: 1 Male Polar Bear & 1 Muskox Bull
- Tent Wrecker: 3 Male Beavers
- Mountain Pursuit: 1 Male Wolverine & 1 Male Dall's Sheep
Tent wrecker is just perfect something I could see the devs actually naming a beaver mtm
It would be fitting given how often the "beavers" have ruined many tents and stands
🇨🇦
(856/1000)

🇨🇦

Eh, whether you did or not, we need it anyway. We could use some more mounts for those xxl stands...almost as much as we could use a new trophy lodge
Some more XXL Multi-mounts would be nice
To the top in case anyone wishes to see the species list
Alaska based trophy cabin when? Occasional snow here too please
Well, you know in a common sense world we should've had 5 different lodge dlcs at the moment for a hunting game and at least 3 African map dlcs out of 17 lol
But we don't live in that world
would love a canada map

indeed

A log cabin styled trophy lodge DLC located in North America would be nice since we have an African Safari Lodge and a European Hunting Lodge

Who here is actually Canadian
Im a day late but happy belated International Polar Bear Day everybody. Here's to probably (hopefully) getting to put some of those bad boys in our lodges this year!

Getting there

Oh wait no gif perms
imagine walking around and seeing polar bear u get ready to shoot but it sees u and starts to swim towards u maybe even underwater and then u cant even kill it
havent bumped this in a while
That would be terrifying since polar bears have been known to hunt humans willingly (they do prefer seal but they won’t pass up an opportunity at a human)
🇨🇦
does there have to be 1000 thumbs up for it to have actually possibility to be added?
No, it's just a goal, an Africa map post got 1000 likes so just for funsies.
oh ok thx

Muskox, Polar Bear, Walrus, Dall's Sheep, Grizzly Bear, Caribou, Ringed Seal and Wood Bison
i hope if they add this map they will revamp grizzly bear cuz now ingame it looks really weird
That was one of my main hopes when I first put this threat together
yea aalso i hope if they do that they wont make some areas just big ice floor like in medved
this is sort of the idea I had for the map, and I did use a screenshot of the Whiterime Ridge map that I took in the game as a base for the map, This was inspired by the fact that the Hirschfelden from Classic can be hunted in within the Hirschfelden in COTW. In general the further north you got the more snow there is and the more likely you would bump into a polar bear or muskox
great idea for map tho i hope the mountains would not be pain to climb
and the middle wont be pain to move

28 Until 900 we can do this!!!!!!
This thread is well past 700
I have some good news for you
IM SO STUPID
that's true, if i remember correctly, they along with big cats and crocodiles are the only animals that see humans as a natural prey. I don't know if i belive that necessarily (except for the crocs) but that's just what ive heard.
Southern biomes? 👀
Nvm, we cracked in general chat that it's melted Medved, but this map in the south part can have this feel for sure
? What do you mean did they just post this picture?
I found it on Google, and it was taken down after, got me suspicious at first, but I'm almost positive it's medved and not like "In development" pic
It does look a bit like the crater area in the southwestern parts of Medved with a bit less snow
But at the same time it does give me a rough idea of what the southern parts of Whiterime Ridge could look like, or at least the mountainous parts as I envision the southeastern parts to be mostly boreal forest and muskeg
Some screenshots I took of my most recent hunt on Whiterime Ridge on Classic. I felt these screenshots would represent some of the northern areas of Whiterime Ridge Wilderness well (And yes the polar bear was shot after the screenshot of my scope-view on him was taken, he scored 27.3615)
Imagine hunting polar bears, seals and walrus across these treacherous ice floes along the northern coast of Whiterime Ridge Wilderness
Oh yea, the north I want ALL the ice we can get!
I do feel like medved went a little light on the ice. This is what I want to see.
Bump

what are the chances that new winter map coming out this year will be this one
A lot of people (myself included) seem to lean towards the Canadian Arctic being the Summer 2025 Reserve
Highly likely
yea i feel like it will be either greenland or canada but morelikely canada
The teaser has more trees then all of Greenland
I can’t exactly say Greenland is very well known for its trees
i mean like yeah but still
tho most likely canada
tho i think greenland has areas with forests and trees
Only one place in Greenland is known for having trees: Qinngua Valley. The main trees and shrubs there are downy birch, grey-leaf willow, Greenland mountain ash and green alder and its located in the southern tip. Mainland Nunavut and the Northwest Territories have a noticeable
imagine if we are all wrong and it will be something like russia
I doubt Russia and for the main non-political reasons I can think of: Medved is set in Russia during the winter, if we got another Russian map it will either be in the Caucasus Mountains ( #1117315981849669662 ) or the Russian Far East and it would either be summer or autumn
I find that kinda unlikely as Canada has been requested for so long but this would be my pick for a Far East map
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1165544224423411752
yea i really hope it will be canada but there are many possibilities

Whiterime Ridge Wilderness Tip: When your hunting walrus or seal, you may find their feed zones on the coast or on ice floes, but that doesn't mean they will be on land or ice, they might be 50 to 150 meters away in the water, so making sure you can accurately shot a small target is a must as all you might see is their head.

My lil man T-posing on that seal
🇨🇦
(871/1000)
Is that a thawed Medved map screenshot, and if so why would we get Medved taiga in the spring?
what?
this would be canada and would have alot more than medved has
tho in my opinion if they gonna add maps like that they shold add something
to other maps since they would became kinda useless
like some maps are only played cuz its best map to grind
Hear me out, let this happen after the story ends on medved.
Monster Hunter Wilds is doing this thing where seasons shift as the story progresses. Makes me wonder if it would be at all possible to have it shift in cotw. After the story ends in Medved a shift where things thaw out for a few days at a time would be awesome. Say 3 in game days of thaw and five between thaws
Purple polar bear
why he urple?
Idk
The article i seen before said it was the medicine it was on. They are transparent so the medicine turned it purple. Most likely will never see one like that in the wild
Rare fur variation lol
cracked fur variation
Albino polar bear hehehehehe
i typed in melanistick polar bear in google and it just shoowed normal white ones and blackbears (not black polar bears just blackbears)
I don't think there has been a single documented melanistic polar bear but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible
yea
Many species don’t hold the genes to be melanistic.
🇨🇦
Muskox, apparently there are two subspecies, the Barren-ground and the Greenland/White-faced Muskox
For gameplay purposes I think the subspecies could be included as common fur types with one of the rare fur variants being Leucistic (third image)
🇨🇦
Looks like the new weapon pack that is coming this month is adding the SKS under a different name
Funny enough the SKS is one of the many weapons I wanted for this reserve
A Canadian standard. That is a must. Just need a few more military surplus old war horses.
I do recall including the 280 Ross Rifle on my list of potential weapons for this reserve and I do recall it being used by Canadians in World War 1 alongside the LeeEnfield chambered in 303 British
My Revised List after the announcement of the new weapon pack
- Reverse Draw Crossbow
- Inuit Cable-backed Bow
- 454 Lever-action Rifle
- 22LR Single Shot Bolt-action Rifle (Based on the Cooey Canuck, a rifle well known in Canada)
- 16 Gauge or 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun (Replaces the 10 Gauge Bolt-action since we need a somewhat more powerful double barrel)
- 475 Turnbull Lever-action Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Replaces the SKS Rifle)
- 9.3x62 Straight-pull Rifle
- Twinshot Crossbow (Based on the Excalibur Twinstrike)
- 280 Ross Bolt-action Rifle
- 22 Magnum Revolver (Good for chasing after beavers to get vengence for all your fallen stands and tents)
- 50 AE Semi-auto Pistol - Class 5 to 9 (Yes I am including the Desert Eagle)
- 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle - Class 1 to 2 (Good for hunting foxes, hares, beavers and grouse)
- 376 Steyr Scout Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Would be more suitable for an African Reserve but I could not pass it up)

👍
maybe someone has already said this, sorry if so, but if we do actually get seals and walruses if this map happens, and i'll probably cry if we dont, i hope they consider grey seals at Revontuli Coast at some point. Just give us a reason to comb the beaches there you know
Ok i had no idea when i suggested that but apparently today is International Day of the Seal...talk about ironic
Ironic indeed when I have Walrus and seal suggested for this map
yeah. if we can get both i NEED walrus
The new species I would say are absolutely needed for a Canadian Arctic Map are Polar Bear, Walrus, Muskox, Walrus, Dall's Sheep, Arctic Fox, Wolverine, Ringed Seal and a North American Grouse species like Spruce, Ruffed or Sharp-tailed Grouse
Edit: Forgot the Wolverine is another must have for a Canadian Arctic Reserve
and maybe wolverine?
I knew I was forgetting something
you're welcome lol
oh s**t...we both forgot snow geese
If the Canadian Arctic Reserve happens, we will probably get them, plus my species list (https://discordapp.com/channels/393040947006406657/1070045518002147458/1070045518002147458) includes them alongside King Eider

🇨🇦 (875/1000)
im confident
How would you hunt the water animals
Would there be a spear gun or something?
With a .22-250
Oh
Walrus with the 375, Ringed Seal with the 22-250 or the SKS from the Rapid Weapon Pack
🇨🇦
The map concept I drew up ages ago
I mean how do you think we've been killing gators and crocs in the water
🇨🇦
(880/1000 and we are only in spring)
We have exactly 3 months until the end of June and this map's release, we should at least get to 1000 likes
Muskox should be class 7 at most. Too small to be 8
They could easily be both to be entirely honest, they are quite strong, very defensive, and put massive dents in land cruisers like it’s nothing.
Forgot about that tbh
Imo Class 8 is too low. Due to their fur they are incredibly tough animals. A common round for them is .375 H&H, and they can stay up for a while after a shot by that. Class 8 is good though.

Polar Bear hunting a Bearded Seal
Idk about the proposed drawn out map since it seems like too much water / a bit of a pain to move around but this is the only North American map I want to happen
Would love if we had frozen fields of ice again (minus the falling through it part) where there’s air holes where you could find polar bears camping out at during their feed times or seals resting around
You mean the map pretty much centered around marine mammals… shouldn’t have water?
I was to lazy to draw out the icefields when I first drew this map up, but I would assume they would include the icefields across a good part of the map. It would make the hunting of seals and walrus a bit more challenging if there were holes big enough in the sea ice
Nah it should def have some it’s just the amount of water is a lot and I was mainly thinking about how people would get around on the map, I could see it being amazing though if we got canoes or something
It’s mainly a “how the hell am I going to walk around?” Problem I have
well that's already a thing on sundar
I do fine on Sundar, I’m in the mountains all the time and sure there’s some harder parts but not straight up impassible that I’ve found, water would be unless were forced to use the boat hopping like on certian maps which isn’t my favorite
Boats were talked about pretty extensively iirc and I’d want them. Motor boats would preferably be exclusive to this map with canoes being usable on any map.
Also even if sundar was bad in terms of walking around, doesn’t mean…other maps should be lol
Yeah if this map has the ideas it’d be released with boats then I’m 100% in
These screenshots I took from my last hunt on Whiterime Ridge in Classic are what I had in mind for the ice floes that animals like seal, polar bear and walrus would be hunted on
Yeah exactly what I wanted pretty much! I just imagined it’d be a lot of the north with only strategicly placed water since I didn’t know this suggestion also came hand in hand with boats. There’s “there’s a lot of marine animals so there should be water” and then “more then half the map is straight up physically impossible to traverse”
Boats tho makes it very appealing. It’d allow it to focus on ice floes which would be a very unique and cool map feature
One of my favorite challenges is trying to snipe crocs while they’re floating in the water, def not smth I’d do with a trophy so I’d be waiting for any of those mainly aquatic animals to rest on land, but it’s super fun and as said earlier in this from my little bit of back reading that’d be plenty galore here
Idk about that seems like a lot imo
If we get Dall's Sheep on a Canadian Arctic Map, that means we only need a British Columbian reserve with Stone's Sheep and the bighorn sheep on Rancho to be remodeled into Desert Bighorns to have the complete North American Grand Slam of Sheep, it would work out nicely
🇨🇦
I agree, but I also want Yucatan and hawai'i (which is not actually american, to be fair)
That would wrap up north America pretty well, maybe like a waterfowl park but that's all
dont really care where it is tbh as long as theres polar bear, walrus, seal haha but yeah its the only NA map ill tolerate if this type of map does release in the NA reigon
those two would also be interesting
ik ive seen hawai'i specifically suggested before and i think itd be interesting, more traditional tropical maps in general would be as well with some of the south american maps ive also seen around. but yeah. no more north american maps unless its this one please 😭
Agree, Greenland would be okay alternatively but I would prefer this because of certain species (dalls sheep, wolverine, grizzly bear)
yeah i honestly forget where else i saw people debating about smth like this but i wouldnt mind if they took the chance to redo grizzly with it...they need it bad. them and wolves are some of the worst models in the game
none of the species listed really scream great one to me though so id be interested in which species EW picks for it with this type of map 🤔
I mean they have released maps where the new great one released isn't found there (revontuli coast for example)
🇨🇦
Ohhh I didn’t know that! Good to know thanks!
I’m fine with no more full sized North American maps after we get an Arctic Canada map, but perhaps some mini maps like Salzweisen would be good for North America.
Places like Idaho, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and the Yucatán Peninsula would make for great Small Game maps.
I just feel like other places could use even smaller maps so much more then NA rn
But if they did regulate the small maps to NA so they could redo some of the smaller animals and keep production cost and time down since it’d be mainly back filled species I could understand
But I view it as a compromise to still have 2 maps a year but keep the map’s quality up rather than me thinking NA should actually get the small maps when we barely have maps for other areas in compairison
Yeah do this for the proper arctic experience and then only small maps for NA where species people like but aren't prevalent on alot of the maps can appear ie: elk, sheep's, grouse, ducks, etc.
Simple fix discovered and Harvard has just called me

Most popular North American Reserve suggestion from what I can tell
Thought y’all might like this
A albino muskox
The community would go wild for one of those! They loved the yaks and banteng.
Muskox would definitely be really fun to hunt
I remember when they showed off the albino banteng and the whole community was hyped.
Albino and Leusistic Muskox will stand out quite well among the other muskox
🇨🇦

Potentially just a month until this is announced
Oh that is wild
on account ive never seen one before, you aint wrong. Thought they were getting chased by a polar bear until i actually read what you said
Jaxy about to be showing off the Albino Musk Ox on the new map like he did with the Yak lol
but didn't he get a new job at EW?
Ohhhh yeah he’s a playtester now
Yea but he said he'll still be doing the streams (whenever they come back)
He did? Well if that's true that's good to know, i love the man's enthusiasm and energy whenever he shows us new stuff. His reaction to showing us a tiger attack in particular lives rent free in my head

do yall think buying reserve dlcs would be worth it
if this one gets released i am definitely buying it
Wdym?
If it’s got walrus, polar bear, seal, muskox, and a grizzly rework of course I’d buy it.
yeah im planning on buying this one if it’s released but should i buy others?

Reimplemented the Canada Lynx to the species list
I have also a rough idea of species rarity to ensure they can all coexist on the map, I have attached my map to use as a referrence
- Polar Bears are restricted to the islands and coastal areas of the Whiterime Ridge and the entire Arvik Coast Region
- Grizzly Bears are generally uncommon with the highest abundance being in the Grizzly Mountains Region
- Wolverines are rare in general with roughly 10 male & female pairs in each region with spread out need zones. As far as the islands go they only exist on the largest of these islands (4 Pairs for 4 Islands), making them a mostly mainland species
- The Canada Lynx is an uncommon but widespread species that mainly occurs in the southern half of the map but range all they way up to the coast
- Walrus will be more common on the islands and coastal areas in the Arvik Coast Region and rarer in the Whiterime Ridge Region, especially where there is floating ice (I was too lazy to draw the floating ice on the map at the time I made it)
- There will be several wood bison herds in the Grizzly Mountains, Tuktu River Delta & Great Buffalo Lake Regions, though the Whiterime Ridge region also sees some wood bison, but they stick to the more forested areas
- Each Herd will consist of 3 bulls & 12 cows
- The Grizzly Mountains will have 4 Herds
- The Tuktu River Delta will have 3 Herds
- Great Buffalo Lake features 5 Herds
- The more forested areas of the Whiterime Ridge Region will only feature 2 herds
- Arctic Wolves will be exclusive in the Whiterime Ridge & Arvik Coast Regions while Grey Wolves exist in the Southern 3 Regions

King eider
Willow ptarmigan
Wolverine

Haters the "We DoNt NeEd AnOtHeR NoRtH AmErIcAn MaP" in before we don't have one arctic hunting map in game yet so their complaints are irrelevant not to mention this map thread has many new species not yet in game so why complain
See even moose agrees 😂
I imagine those 2 people only removed their vote to bring this back below 900 because they could
When the teaser drops in few weeks, this post is gonna start getting around 10 likes a day, we'll for sure reach 1000 by the release
Im usually one of those people but the Arctic is definitly an acception. Plenty of awesome potential new species to hunt. The only other place in America I wouldn't mind is Florida to a small extent...and I say small because i literally only want it to hunt pythons and iguanas
If so, I hope Moose has a speech prepared. As far as I'm concerned he's earned it

I propose that the mission reward weapon be the authentic Iñupiat bow (like the one in the photo). The bow that the Inuit used for hunting.
2 off from 900!
According to the excerpt from the book, three color variants of the muskox are mentioned:
1. Albino
2. Golden-brown
3. Cream-colored with darker horns and light-colored legs
True I want arctic and a proper rocky/Colombia mountains map in Canada so we can get better elk and wild goat/sheep hunting but defo want an arctic map for some polar bears and mint caribou hunting where they are hopefully found in a more realistic area of the map compared to where they are located on yukon
I'm just in it for the polar bears, musk ox, walrus and wolverines
Mosk ox too would be cool
Sorry I forgot about them just driving while messaging

Africa 2.0 is at 1900 though
They wanna gEt aFriCa RiGhT ...
By now we should've had at least 2 or 3 Africa maps out of 16, 17 maps we got
I do believe the original weapons proposed were a caribou sinew bow, bolt action 10ga, and a rifle iirc
Alright. I’d choose the bow. Each hunting tribe in the world has a particular bow design.
I have those bows listed as one of the weapons that should come with the reserve
Here is the Weapon List
- Reverse Draw Crossbow (Must Have)
- Inuit Cable-backed Bow (Must Have)
- 454 Lever-action Rifle
- 22LR Single Shot Bolt-action Rifle (Based on the Cooey Canuck, a rifle well known in Canada)
- 16 Gauge or 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun (Replaces the 10 Gauge Bolt-action since we need a somewhat more powerful double barrel)
- 475 Turnbull Lever-action Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Replaces the SKS Rifle) (Would be a good addition)
- 9.3x62 Straight-pull Rifle
- Twinshot Crossbow (Based on the Excalibur Twinstrike)
- 280 Ross Bolt-action Rifle (A Must Have)
- 22 Magnum Revolver (Good for chasing after beavers to get vengence for all your fallen stands and tents)
- 50 AE Semi-auto Pistol - Class 5 to 9 (Yes I am including the Desert Eagle)
- 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle - Class 1 to 2 (Good for hunting foxes, hares, beavers and grouse)
- 376 Steyr Scout Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Would be more suitable for an African Reserve but I could not pass it up)
Well dang, I guess I better prepare then
darn straight
Honestly im fine waiting till 2027 for Africa 2.0 or at the very least the ultimate African map. What better way to celebrate the game's 10 year anniversary than that?

Do y'all consider ruffed grouse, I mean they extend well into the Yukon and NWT
Sharp tailed grouse are very fun but in boreal forest areas there mostly found in bogs so if that's not really a habitat may be they should be reconsidered, I'm still pro sharp tailed tho
And like grassy scrubland but not really tundra or boreal forest
I’m just making a wild guess, Moose can confirm but these look like bogs.
Yeah, bogs would be so epic, I'm going to one next week to witness a black grouse lek. They are a really important part of the taiga over here
To answer that question, I have the Spruce Grouse, though now that I looked again at my species list and the range maps of both ruffed and sharp-tailed grouse, I could probably scrap the sharp-tails in favour of willow ptarmigan, both rock and willow ptarmigan live across Northern Canada
I understand that, I personally really want to see sharp tailed grouse if we get peatlands or bogs in a sizable amount
Updated Multi-Mount List for Whiterime Ridge Wilderness

- Arctic Apex: 1 Polar Bear (Male) and 1 Ringed Seal (Male) (New)
- Ursine Combat: 1 Male Polar Bear & 1 Male Grizzly Bear (New)
- Wolf Hunt: 2 Arctic Wolves (Male & Female) & 1 Caribou Bull (New)
- Determination: 1 Male Wolverine & 1 Male Dall's Sheep (New)
I feel like this would really benefit from #1241417134832222319 because rocky and snowy diorama style landscapes would fit best with these animals and multimount, some slight differences in elevation on the mount would also be cool with multimounts like mountain clash, like one on top of a rock and one on the bottom

Barren Ground Grizzly (Ursus arctos richardsoni)
This subspecies is approximately the same size as a mountain grizzly, though smaller than the lowland grizzlies found along the salmon rivers of Alaska and British Columbia. The barren ground grizzly is a handsome bear that is known for its long, luxurious coat, which can come in a variety of colors.
This is the first time I am hearing about the Barren-ground Grizzly Bear being considered a genetically distinct subspecies from the regular Grizzly Bear
I did just figure out that the trinomial name Ursus arctos richardsoni seems to only used by the Grand Slam Club since its their website that I saw the name
It wouldn’t surprise me if Ursus arctos richardsoni is synonymous with Ursus arctos horribilis
Safari Club International (SCI) also recognizes this subspecies.
One is written in English and the other is in Inuktitut. Source: Government of Nunavut gov.nu.ca/en
Title of Book: Preliminary synopsis of the American Bears by C H Merriam in 1896.
The characteristic fur color of this subspecies
Grizzly bears are apparently a taxonomically confusing animal given how many subspecies of brown bear were said to exist in North America to only wind up not being all that distinctive
A 1953 researcher stated, "The specific status of North American brown bears (or grizzly bears) is one of the most complex problems of mammalian taxonomy. The difficulty stems directly from the work of Merriam (1918), who concluded that there are 86 forms of grizzlies (and brown bears) in North America.
An example of this is the California Grizzly, which is still currently accepted as a separate subspecies but it has been considered as simply an extirpated population of the Grizzly Bears that exist elsewhere
Then there are Mexican Grizzlies which use to be distinct (Ursus arctos nelsoni) but are now apparently lumped with the Grizzly Bears (Ursus arctos horribilis), which would make them a population adapted for life in Northern Mexico
The two brown bear types in North America that are said to be truly distinct from Grizzlies on a genetic level are Kodiaks and the brown bears of Admiralty Island, Baranof Island, and Chichagof Island in Alaska (these bears have a high degree of polar bear DNA)

So after the small "update" they did few days ago, the grizzly caller on the FoxPro sounds like an elk now to attract them ... and there are no elk on Yukon ... you think this might be a hint? 👀
New map with both Grizzlies and Elk on it
I just checked it out
It might be a bug because its supposed to sound like a distressed fawn
I played the the wolf “distressed fawn call” and it made the warning call of a deer
I just played the same call for Lion on the E-caller on Vurhonga and it made the right noise and so did the same caller for Brown Bear on Medved
I definitely think grizzly and wolf “distressed fawn” calls on the E-caller are bugged
Not a terrible bug, just an unusual
Yea, could be a bug then, unless both mule deer and grey wolf are on the map too so that's why the wolf caller sounds like a deer now ... but it's just me theorizing 😂 I was hoping it was a clue just because we're at that time of the year when hype starts building up
Mule Deer do live in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory
And the population in both are large enough to have a hunting season
Though if Mule Deer were on this map their range would have to be limited to the southern parts
I feel like this map is gonna be a mix of both Arctic Canada and British Columbia so they move on from North America, it's gonna be like they did a mix of both Australian maps in classic as one Emerald Coast in cotw
A good way to mix Western Canada and the Arctic is to set it in the Northwest Territories and Yukon Territory Area, that way you can get the mountains of Western Canada and the tundras and boreal forest of Northern Canada
To expand on this, they could have both Dall's Sheep and Stone's Sheep and just have them live in seperate mountain ranges with Dall's to the north and Stone's to the south, sort of like the Ibex on Cuatro. This could also force them to change the Bighorns on Rancho to be Desert Bighorns, and therefore allowing a Grand Slam of North American Sheep multi-mount
The Mule Deer could inhabit the same mountains as the Stone's Sheep while the mountains inhabited by the Dall's Sheep could be visited by muskox and maybe even the odd polar bear wandering in from the coast
This sounds like an amazing map if they did this, but it would be such a let down not to have Roosevelt Elk. The home range and population for them on Layton is not great. They also need reworked far more than the Rocky Mountain Elk.
If they were planning on adding a Kodiak island map in the future it wouldn't be to bad. But it would suck to wait. They look horrible right now compared to reworked animals
I am in the belief that every map should have animals exclusive to that map only, its kind of why I don't exactly see to much issue with Roosevelt's Elk being only on Layton Lakes, but if the next map does combine the mountains of Western Canada and the tundras of Arctic Canada, we can still get a British Columbian map with Elk, it would have to be more restricted in what parts of the province it covers
But like you said, Kodiak Island is always a good potential location
Another would be California, which has Rocky Mountain, Roosevelt's & Tule Elk
I can understand the elk needing a rework though, the Roosevelt's Elk do look a bit odd
I think a half size Kodiak Island map could really work.
YES PLEASE!!!! but if they add this map, PLEASE BRING TRAPS INTO THE GAME!!!!
Kodiaks, Roosevelt's Elk, Sitka Deer, Fox, Beaver, Grouse and Sea Ducks would be perfect for a small map based on the Kodiak Archipelago
If we get a Roosevelt Elk map it needs to be full sized. They already got disrespected on Layton. They deserve a G1 full size map. Kodiak island shouldn't be a small reserve.
#1308957891738472591 I found the thread I was thinking of when "half-sized Kodiak Island map" was mentioned
If Roosevelt Elk was on a small map with the type of zones they have it would be the easiest G1 to get in the game. That would just be ridiculous imo.
This is assuming we are getting Great One Roosevelt's Elk, which it is not certain if we will. Guess we will have to wait and see what the next Great One is
For this reserve I think a Great One Grey Wolf wouldn't be a terrible idea since it also gives Yukon Valley its third GO and Medved its second GO
Elk Great one may not be next, but it's coming. Too many people have been begging forever for it. So they should never be on a small map.
I can’t see a single way EW could add trapping in a way that makes sense.
The hype is getting so real day by day
I'm drawing a map that is more based on the Northwest Territories and Yukon as this version is more so based on the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
Btw how would you guys make the teaser trailer for this map? I would make it that it's night time, the camera is looking up (throwback to the winter show) it's northern lights lighting up the skies and It is snowing lightly, then gently camera moves down revealing a herd of Walruses laying on the ice by the water shore
I'm not sure what I would have done for a teaser myself, the walrus are a nice touch to let people know we are in the Arctic
Another idea I have is again throwback to the winter show, it's the same scene we got, looking up but this time video keeps going, camera moves down gently revealing a Polar Bear walking away from the camera down towards the area with the iconic ice islands
I bet they are already editing the teaser, we have counted days left until it releases, and I hope they went full in with this map and animals like we asked them many months ago with https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1308596089812684842
The crest of a tundra hill with the northern lights hanging high in the sky with winds howling and snow swirling…. But at the end you’d be able to hear the slow, methodical crunches of snow and just before the video ends and fades to black you’d hear a rather infamous roar.
This is the version of the map that is still partially based on the Northwest Territories (Polar Bear, Walrus and Muskox) but also partially based on the Yukon Territory (Dall's Sheep, giant Moose, Wood Bison, Grizzly Bear), the other version of the map is also partially based in the Northwest Territories but also partially based on Nunavut
This was done since the possible re-inclusion of Stone's Sheep and Mule Deer was discussed earlier today
The area south of the Red Line would be where the Stone's Sheep and Mule Deer live, the mountains north of the line is where Dall's Sheep live
North of the Purple Line is where Polar Bears, Walrus, Ringed Seal and King Eider would be encountered
The Yellow Line is as far south as the Muskox and Arctic Fox would go
And yes I did not feel like drawing in all that floating ice
I also have a small fear they're not gonna end up doing walrus and seals, hopefully hopefully hopefully I'm wrong
We have alligators and crocodiles swimming into the water
I believe walrus and seal will be possible
The official website of the Yukon, stone sheep are also in the yukon
I still exclude Elk for the following reasons
• They are not that widespread in the Yukon Territory and do not occur in the Northwest Territories, which btw is where the reserve is set regardless of weather some areas are based on either the Yukon or Nunavut
• This reserve regardless is focused on Arctic and northern Canadian species, I never re-added mule deer or Stone’s sheep to the list, I simply discussed how EW could implement those two species on a map like this
• We could always get a few more North American maps, meaning that Elk could still come on a more suitable map, and then there is a potential map set somewhere like Mongolia or Kazakhstan, which have Altai and Tian Shan Wapiti respectively
Plus a Central Asian Reserve could some with other highly requested species like Siberian Ibex, Argali sheep and the various steppe antelope like Saiga, Mongolian Gazelle and Goitered Gazelle
I agree, just wanted to mention. I'm against elk or mule deer although I'm pro stone sheep, but that really depends on the type of habitat were gonna see.
I prefer the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. It makes sense
❌ Mule Deer and Stone Sheep 🙅🏻♂️
I want to hunt Peary Caribou on the next map. Please, make it a reality. 🙏
Yeah me 2
If you don't mind me asking how did you draw the map itself like is there an app you used or
Gimp is the program I use to draw my maps on my computer
🇨🇦
Northern lights at night then slowly pan down showing the mountains and forests far away while there is snowfall occurring and then through it faintly show the silhouette of a polar bear, let it roar and fade the snow away while simultaneously zooming in on it hitting a pose
Polar bear would be in the foreground in the tundra portion so the camera is positioned north and oriented south
Sony studios called me 😂 jkjk

night time with northern lights at the sky, a group of ringed seals laying on ice ridges in the sea with the camara giving you a look at the ocean in the background. the music is calm and releaxing then gets drastic before we hear a loud water splash as the screen fades to the black and we hear a polar bear growling. then we get an screen showing a dall sheep that saying "get ready for an artic hunt - full announcement comming soon " ...
Honestly fire I'll hit up 21st century to hire you
the screen shot i image would look similar to that one
nah thanks i just wrote the sundarpatan teaser into a artic setting
Fair enough I was just trying to gas you up
that being said i think we can expect the first teases around 5/20/2025 so about 3 weeks from now. i´m expecting the release date to be the 6/17/2025
That would be a cool teaser
How'd y'all feel about having midnight sun on the map?
Because I live in sweden near the Arctic and I feel like a map with more or less light all day would be fun, maybe more like twilight at night. Depends if the map is set in fall, winter or summer
If the map was set during the summer it would be a cool inclusion
Of course if the map is set in the winter we could get the polar nights and twilights which could come with the Aurora Borealis
Would be cool, they did it well on REV I'd prefer polar day with weather cycle like on Yukon tho.
Weather cycle for the south sure but the north where the polar bears are imo should remain snow covered make them even scarier
🇨🇦
That would be awesome, would sure add some variety since we can already hunt regular caribou, the more species and variety in species in general the better
Caribou are epic. There are a lot of herds and some smaller subspecies like boreal and mountain caribou or porcupine but generally for COTW I'd split them into woodland caribou, barren ground Caribou and Peary Caribou for north America
- for the best Canadian map on offer
In winter, please 🙏
The teaser is indicating that the next map is covered in snow
I want an actual canada map bro the 'Yukon' takes place in alsaka
In defense of Yukon Valley, the Yukon River mostly runs through Alaska even though it starts in the Yukon Territory
If Yukon Valley were in Canada it would make more sense to put Canada in quotation marks rather than Alaska….
I’m no mathematician but it would appear as though only 20% of the Yukon River is actually in the Yukon Territory.
Can’t wait for this map man, even though it’s a winter map in summer i don’t mind actually because it just seems awesome and pretty obvious to me that this will be the coming map, but i could be pleasantly surprised still
Dall sheep are one of my #1 wished species, they would rely benefit from #1241417134832222319
I am aware of that but I'm just saying I want a canada map lol like give me a northern ontario map we have good hunting here there'd be like grouse, whitetail, moose, elk, bobcats, foxes, lynx, black bears, and maybe polar bears
- plus for PB
That sounds kind of like NEM 2.0 no offense but I think northern Canada or BC would fit better for a canada map
Eh, what your describing is basically Revontouli 2.0
Sounds both like Rev or nem 2.0 but i am still praying and hoping next map is Canada 🤞
Top of the post
🇨🇦
🇨🇦
Really hoping for a polar bear walrus multi mount
This month is going down in history as the month we got the teaser trailer for the Arctic map in cotw!! THE HYPE IS GETTING REAL
Species from this map that could be backfilled to other maps in my opinion
- Dall's Sheep: Yukon Valley
- Wolverine: Yukon Valley, Medved Taiga
- American Beaver: Layton Lakes, Yukon Valley, Parque Fernando
I excluded the Muskox since I feel that if they came with a Canadian Arctic Reserve they should remain exclusive to that map (I believe that every reserve should have species exclusive to that reserve only)
I also think that the Snowshoe Hare and Canada Lynx would be good potential backfills on Yukon Valley, especially if they were introduced to the game on a new map.
Yukon Valley would benefit from a map like this being introduced with how many species can be backfilled to that map
I hope for ptarmigan and a snowscooter, i’mma live like outdoor boys
What is snowscooter?
Snowcock, I think
That makes no sense in this environment. My guess would be scoter, like in the seaducks of the genus melanitta
@hardy osprey i meant snowmobile sorry
Snowmobiles would be fitting, though if we don’t get those the ATVs we already have will have to do
I hope
2 Weeks unil EW should start spreding teases leading up to the Teaser Trailer, lets set the mood for the Canadian Artic !!
Here’s hoping we get one!
oh we defently gonna get one
The fact we're probably two or three weeks away from getting our first reveal or teaser is making the wait painful lol
Amen shoutout the borealis for making me not have to get an out of province tag
@nimble smelt well bud let's hope you're map gets selected and will crack some cold ones for ya 🇨🇦 represent
maybe a pizzly hybrid could be one? I remember suggesting a pizzly as a story animal once but idk if they'd go that direction
Btw what would you guys think if EW brings untamed species back for this map ?
id be down as long as they cover more than just three species. With Emerald Coast i was disappointed that Rusa got covered but not Saltwater Crocs
Explain what that is
At the time of Emerald Coast they let content creators make Videos for some of the New animals for the map. As an small preview.
Oh I remember
It was a nice idea. Such a let down they didnt did that for Sundarpatan
I do recall suggesting the same under the Inuit name of Nanulak as a hyper-aggressive individual that winds up attempting to hunt some researchers in an abandoned whaling station
Edit: Nanulak is an Inuit name for the Grizzly-Polar Bear Hybrid, I’m not sure what the individual bear itself would be named
Hopefully the new map brings back only 1/4 of existing species and adds new stuff for the other 3/4
Original Map Rooster (23 overall)
Old
Grizzly Bear
Moose
Caribou
Grey Wolf
Goldeneye
Rock Ptarmigan
Willow Ptarmigan
New
Polar Bear
Walrus
Wood Bison
Muskox
Arctic Wolf
Dall's Sheep
Ringed Seal
Wolverine
Canada Lynx
Arctic Fox
American Beaver
Snowshoe Hare
Hoary Marmot
Spruce Grouse
Snow Goose
King Eider
since the map likly will have between 13-15 species overall heres the list i would prpose for the map
15 Species (11 new)
Old
✅ Grizzly Bear (needs a remodel + second map)
❌ Moose (already on plenty of maps )
✅ Caribou (remodel)
❌ Grey Wolf (gets the remodel(hopefully) the update after with the new furs+1 wolf is enough)
❌ Goldeneye
✅ Rock Ptarmigan
❌ Willow Ptarmigan(one has to go)
*New *
✅ Polar Bear
✅ Walrus
❌ Wood Bison (we have muskox instand )
✅ Muskox
✅ Arctic Wolf
✅ Dall's Sheep (Bighorn will get a remodel to go with)
✅ Ringed Seal
✅ Wolverine
❌ Canada Lynx
✅ Arctic Fox
❌ American Beaver (i dont think EW is adding them)
❌ Snowshoe Hare(we have enough hares)
✅ Hoary Marmot(a new burrowing animal after a long time )
✅ Spruce Grouse
✅ Snow Goose
✅ King Eider
in the end this is my opinion so please respect it and share your opnion
Yes but spruce grouse look very special
then i would kick out one of the ptarmigans out
Yeah
which would you kick out? i think i would kick therock ptarmigan simply because the willow one looks cooler
Willow 100% rock ptarmigan is a staple of the Arctic tundra, it's the species present where polar bears are present
oh okay i`ll adjust it
Personal opinion of course, but willow ptarmigan don't really chill in forests so of I had to chose 2 upland birds I'd have rock for the tundra and spruce for the forests
I find the Rock Ptarmigan really ugly plus it would make a willow ptarmigan Yukon Backfill more likely.
Eh not really, I think it's a better refill if it's not on so many maps, is it like a model thing or just the species itselve?
Those are real life pictures… I’m talking about in game.
Yeah that's why I asked, if it's like the in-game animal you don't like which I totally get or just the species it selves perhaps a little touch up. I agree that they look bad against willow in-game
Snowshoe Hare for Yukon Valley and Artic Hare for here.
I also find the colors are much better on willow ptarmigan in game and in the wild but far less irl. They are more equal irl.
Yeah, breeding willow and red grouse c0cks are just something else
Arctic Hare in winter für would actually be pretty interesting hare vise, snowshoe would kinda look like wooly hare and mountain hare do tbh
I understand why some people call them "man's last predator"
https://youtu.be/l-o4-7eDe-U?si=s7l_aVLBNyUAXfNK
@hardy osprey spruce grouse ftw now we just need ruffed grouse on one map
lol
when he realised he aint getting him he just sat down and did nothing
🇨🇦

2 years later ... and the quote became reality😂
I’m kinda surprised by the amount of people who either didn’t watch the preview show or completely forgot about it
I’ve seen some speculate the summer map could be Namibia or South Texas lol
South Texas would suck tbh
nah an Texas ranch with much exotic animals would be fire 🔥
I wouldn’t say that….
I’d love to hunt Scimitar Horned Oryx, Addax, and Dama Gazelle in a place that isn’t a warzone.
Ah yes., a snowy landscape with snow covered trees somehow teases South Texas, an area that shutsdown after a single inch of snow
Just should have #1325982630792921159 which is not a warzone...
Ik this might just be me, but I’m starting to get frustrated at the lack of communication from the devs about the game’s future.
Chad is pretty well known for its bouts of political instability…
It has been peaceful in 15 years
We have a Russia map, Russia is involved in way more wars even at Medvedev release
Not to speak of the us, also there is Documentation of people recently hunting in chad
Jim Shockey, a Canadian Hunter was one person I am aware of hunting in Chad for Western Greater Kudu & Red-fronted Gazelle
theres no war where medved is locted what liam was talking about is that there is war were damagazelle and such live
Well there's no war in chad especially not in the area where the dama gazelle are
Pretty sure they had one in 2022. But I was more referring to dama gazelle than anything 🇸🇸🇸🇩
I guess, I'm still pro but I understand how its controversial
Texas is also the only realistic setting for a reserve with Nubian Ibex (A fictional hunting preserve in the UAE could also work) since the only country in the Nubian Ibex home range that apparently offered hunting is currently in the middle of a war: Sudan
Siberia and more specifically Yamal are a completely different thing. And most communities act autonomously from Eastern Russia (where all the wars and “political instability is)
We can get into it over Russia but don’t want to get banned over it and don’t wanna clog moosedragons fantastic thread.
Sudan map isn't good even in my opinion
lets get into an different topic more thread related... what great one would you guys wnat for the map ?
While I personally don't care for the Great Ones myself, the ones that could work for this map in my opinion are: Grey Wolf, Caribou, Grizzly Bear or Muskox
Reindeer would be optimal in my opinion.
I just don’t want them to make a polar bear g1 and then pull a Nepal making it really sought after then mess with the spawn rate because surprise surprise! People want their rares (or in this case great ones)
thanks to server rules my message got deleted (i not even know what was wrong)
i would like to see an polar bear GO but i have no idea what you could do for them so ... Caribou/Reindeer seems the most logic
That is odd
it was just a normal message idk i think i forgot the t in post, would that be any bad word?
caribou are also a good contender since the post for their GO + Remodel is quiet big https://discordapp.com/channels/393040947006406657/1184642607196946482
that red rack + an special fur would make a gerta Great One
They could make it 15ft tall l
maybe big teeth nearly like tusks ? a black polar bear with with spots resembeling the nightsky could also be an option
I don’t really care for great ones but I think that would look a little too cartoony
I agree, but I don't hunt great ones actively, I got 3 but the only one I really like is the whitetail
Polar bear with the zero aggression like a grizzly or brown bear will be a pathetic big piece of meat.
They gotta give them the tiger-like aggression since Polar Bears are known to actively hunt humans when given the opportunity
Has the trailer for ts map dropped? 😩
No i guees you have to wait for 2 weeks
if we would still get streams we could have the first teasers next week!
but sadly they arent a thing anymor or for now ....
- for the Canadian map that people really want
Not having the streams might kinda hurt the overall hype of this map when it drops, cause Jaxy was always able to hype up the new maps crazy and get everyone to buy it
We need streams again.
News about of the last dlc (rapid hunt..) appeared in an unusually short period before the release. The May maybe long.
(918/1000)
I think they now (since it was the same with the scopes dlc ) Release small dlc one week after the announcement. What Was weird with the rapid hunt rifle pack was that it got announced and released so late
Maybe you're mean the hunter's choice rifle pack?
No the rapid hunt rifle pack Was announced like two weeks after their regular patern
We need #1241417134832222319 so bad especially for animals of the Arctic that grass just looks wrong
Mountains of Kazakhstan? 👀
Glaciers of Greenland?
Winter in Norway?
This will funny, if suddenly this isn't Alaska.
its probably northern canada, so most likly this map
I’d hope It isn’t Alaska personally
And they don’t really look like any type of Himalayan tree.
Yukon map is northwest of Canada.
The outposts fly the Alaskan flag…
In 5000 h of play I didn't pay attention😆
Ok. Canada.
Now we’re talking!
I will mention most of the Arctic’s famous fauna has very limited range in Alaska so I believe Canada is the better pick.
If Alaska in the future I wanna see a coastal map, a park like #1311294022408736788 Would be very fun, please with emperor goose. But something like #1118713888410706042 would be also fine. For the Arctic I am all for canada! But Svalbard or Greenland would be fine aswell
I think Kodiak Island would be my choice if we got a new Alaska map. It's just such a unique place.
Yeah, either south west Alaska, Alaskan peninsula Type with lots of small game, or a mixed map either on Kodiak island or around the rainforests in southeast Alaska, Juneau, Prince of Wales Island and tongass National Forest ish
So is the Northwest Territories where this reserve concept is set
I hope it isn't an Asian map personally because I really didn't like the terrain in sunderpatan as well I think polar bears have been on the heavily wanted list for awhile now and as this is one of the most upvoted threads it would only make sense to do so
I wouldn't mind a Mongolia or Kazakhstan or Caucasus mountains map but I'd want this more
So please EW don't fumble the bag
the trees of witherime ridge and this one look very similar so i would say the chances that this isint arctic canada are fairly low
Good
The Subregions of Whiterime Ridge Wilderness
Whiterime Ridge (Regions)
- Aarluk Islands: Named after the killer whales (Aarluk is an Inuit name for the orca), it has a healthy population of walrus and seal, which not only draws in visiting orcas during the summers but also polar bears which hunt the seals during the long winters
- Sedna's Bay: Named after the Inuit goddess of the sea and marine animals, the mountainous peninsula in this subregion is home to the northenmost Dall's sheep herd on the reserve and possibly all of Canada. Along the northern coast sits an abandoned whaling station from times past and now the only whaling to take place is done by the Inuit on a far smaller scale
- Windy Hills: A land of tundra and sparse spruce stands, herds of caribou and muskox graze in the lowlands while Dall's Sheep graze in the hills. It also has a small but growing herd of Wood bison and some rather large moose in the area
Arvik Coast (Region)
- Arvik Coast (Subregion): Named after the bowhead whale, it still sevres the Inuit as a good place to hunt marine mammals, and when the occasional whale carcass washes up on shore you can find both polar and grizzly bear feeding here alongside the occasional wolverine or arctic fox
- Frozen Seaway: An area that is named for how much ice is seen between these islands during the summer, this ice expands to the mainland in the winter, allowing caribou to travel to migrate onto the coast
- Arvik Island: An island that is said to be shaped like a whale
- Aivuk Island: An island named for the walrus, its a good place to find these unique animals
Grizzly Mountains
- Ivory Valley: This valley got its name after gold panners found a mammoth tusk in the early 1900s, it has since produced a wealth of fossils from the Pleistocene epoch like gournd sloth and scimitar-toothed cat, though this valley has also produced exceptional speciemen of still living species like Dall's sheep, Grizzly bear and Moose
- Napaaqtuq: Coming from an Inuit word for tree, this area is densely wooded, making it a suitable habitat for caribou, moose and the reintroduced wood bison, though packs of wolves and wandering wolverines also call these woods home
- Grizzly Lake: Deep in these mountains is where you must go if you wish to find record book Dall's Sheep and Grizzly Bear, which can find an abundance of food here. If you want a more relaxing hunt then look for the marmots and ptarmigan, they also call these mountain valleys home
Tuktu River Delta
- West Delta: The more watery half of the region, hunters can find beavers, moose, seal and waterfowl within the wetlands of the Tuktu River Delta
- East Delta: The less watery half of the delta, hunters can still find animals like beaver and geese but they might also see herds of muskox in the area
Great Buffalo Lake
- Umingmak Plains: Named after the muskox, you will find herds of both Umingmak and Tuktu (Caribou) in this region alongside the packs of Arctic Wolves that rely on these ungulates for their own survival
- Great Buffalo Lake: The lake that gave the region its name, you can find reintroduced wood bison along the southern shores of the lake
- Muskeg Country: This region is beaver central, though it does also have trophy moose and trophy caribou roaming through the muskeg. Spruce grouse are also here in abundance
The terrain (or lack there of) of Sundarpatan really harms the map.
For me it was just too thick and noisy with poor visibility throughout and the open areas barely had anything it add in the fact that if you barely hunt drink zones like myself it means everything you find is in a thicket and you can only get eyes on 60 ish meters away where even slow crawling will cause fleeing
So that's my reason but to each their own
Not only was it too thick it lacked any meaningful mountains…. In a country known for its mountains
Yeah it had one crescent ridge with a few secondary ridges on it and was not enough
You don't want a region called west bank, the area west of the Jordan river is called that and its massive, that's like naming an area in Asia the Midwest
I wasn't sure weather it should have even had subregions or not
Made slight changes to the naming of the Tuktu River Delta subregions
🇨🇦
@nimble smelt is there any weapons you'd add in this map concept like .280 AI, .300 RUM, or any PRC cartridge
Just examples not what I'm suggesting
.280AI would be interesting.
But I personally most associate Whiterime Ridge with the 1895 from Classic.
- 376 Steyr Scout Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Would be more suitable for an African Reserve but I could not pass it up)
I do not plan on expanding the weapon list for this reserve concept any further
But I will keep those calibres and the PRCs in mind should I put together another reserve concept
The Winchester 1895 to me is more associated with Africa
Probably because Theodore Roosevelt used the rifle chambered in 405 Winchester on his African Safari
But I have bagged a few animals on Whiterime in Classic with the rifle
An another day waiting for the first teasers ....
I guess on the topic of wolves the Arctic wolf is cool and also I hope they rework the grey wolf and add more default fur variations like something timber Wolf Esk would be cool and make the Iberian wolf fur patterns on the grey wolf too since most I see are grey with streaks of brown also having the one that goes from dark grey to grey to white as the standard grey wolves remain just black and grey
I like timber wolves see alot of them around where I'm at
No kidding. When they did that for Emerald Coast I was under the impression that would be a new norm for future maps. Oh well, nice while it lasted I guess
They wanted to release new grey Wolf furs in the second half of 2025 so i guees its gonna be in the fall update
Good because the current wolves look like a bad tattoo artist did it
(920/1000)
Godbye Son
Maybe an Teaser for Woodbison since they would replace plainsbison because they are the better version?
like how crocs replaced alligators?
(picture and quote are from cotw instagram)
That's the name of a multimount, not denying your theory your just coming up with some wild stuff
maybe, but
- were are in teaser time
- were are the wolves? its just the bison
- what usage it would have for EW to post a random bison pic pick with the name of a bison Multimount?
- it was post on a day and at a time were teasers drop
and if you think about it more almost none of their posts was random, it was either a teaser or advertisement material
That's a good point, I have hope...
Wood Bison do live in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory
Plus Whiterime Ridge in Classic has Bison, Dall’s Sheep and Polar Bear
Someone told me they did this for fox before they made it a GO, so potential GO bison?
Interesting, I did not consider bison as a potential great one for a Canadian Arctic Reserve, I guess between the teaser and that bit of info they might really be going with a Whiterime Ridge for COTW
a great one bison could be... interesting
It wasn’t something in my mind but I’m def not against it if it’s true
As for how Plains Bison wound up on a hunting reserve also inhabited by animals like Polar Bear and Dall's Sheep, the backstory could be similar to why Plains Bison exist in Alaska: At the time they were looking to first reintroduce Bison to Alaska the Wood Bison was thought to be extinct
And while I would prefer wood bison for a map set in the Northwest Territories, I wouldn't be too opposed to seeing Plains Bison
It could be them teasing it in the similar manner but it still be wood bison they just don’t wanna drop the new model yet 🤔 we’ll have to see
that's definitely possible, we'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
I think when they Postet the fox pictures they wanted to tease that they are teaming up with fox pro since it would have been way to early to tease the g1 fox
🇨🇦
Dude great one bison is actually gonna be possible to hunt without just camping zones that’ll be epic. Idk if you all tried it but since they added the tahr to Te Awaroa i got a GO just by running around the mountains, so i’d love to do something similar with Bison
(921/1000)
So you didn’t grind for the GO Tahr on Te Awaroa?
Could be! I’m not gunna believe it 100% but I did think it was interesting, if they had done it to both fox and pheasent if say it’s more definitive
Yes i did but i didn’t need tents at zones, since they stay at the mountains once you start shooting some they all kinda run around the places and you get alot of opportunities to kill a bunch
🇨🇦
The teaser has never been closer aaaaaaaaaa
one or atleast two weeks 🙏
I hope that we get the return of the weekly livestreams once we get the map teaser.
My guess either on 22nd or 27th of May
That would be nice
My guees would be the 20nd or 22nd of may
But maybe EW surprises us and Drops the teaser already next week 🤞
22nd was for sundarpatan so maybe not exactly that day but hopefully if they’ve seen this thread they’ll do it as early as possible hahaha
The teaser will most likely Release on a tuesday or a thursday , so that are the days were we could expect the teaser
Ok
🇨🇦
well whenever it is I'm hoping the actual dlc releases on June 17th since i have that whole week off. I'd settle for the 10th too, but i doubt they'd release it that early in the month
17th seems likely
(922/1000)
eh, if anything maybe it's implying the plains bison is getting a remaster so they're saying bye to the old model
Then maybe the European Bison can receive the same treatment because both models could use some work
🇨🇦
both have fantastic horns but ass visual models
I hope so and it seems very likely since they basically remodeled all ducks for the release of salzwiesen
no only the cinnamon teal, cause they look similar to the Ferruginous Duck.
🇨🇦
@nimble smelt could it be possible that plains bison could be on this reserve?
While I would prefer wood bison, I would not be surprised if Plains Bison wound up on a Canadian Arctic Reserve
Especially if it is basically Whiterime Ridge being brought in from Classic with animals like Dalls Sheep, Arctic Fox & Polar Bear
oh okay, then they may teased the presence of plains bison on the next map 🤔
possible teased things based on the picture and the caption:
- Wood bison who would then be the prefered bison to hunt by the community, thats why goodbys, Son
- Bison Remodel, they said in the comments they meant Good byson (good bison) maybe a teaser towards a better looking bison
- Plains Bison being on the next map
If you check the patch notes it will say more than those ducks, i’ve seen em myself
...
When the update was it said eurasian wigeon, eurasian teal i know they was updated
strange it ain’t saying it in the patch notes
i think it was sounds that got improved
Yea nevermind it was the sounds
They must’ve been ghost updated or whatever you call it because when the map released the models definitly got improved since revountouli
i didnt noticed any diffrence
Do you regularly hunt ducks?
not that much but i know the models, i think they just look better because of some changes at the harvest screen
🇨🇦
🇨🇦
Starting the Teaser Countdown !!! (EW pulls the rapid hunt rifle pack move and they drop the teaser on week after the other maps would have already released)
💀💀
There's gotta be some sort of a small hint, clue or something out there in social medias they put out at this point, gotta be, we're so close
I think the bison picture they put out on instagram is some type clue
Heres what i think it could mean
I prefer Wood Bison
925/1000, only 75 more before Summer
I wonder what new weapon we will get with the reserve
I’m hoping its a new bow or crossbow
And if its a new rifle it better be a lever-action rifle
heard about a 1-3 lever action rifle for an artic reserve, could that be a thing?
Here is the Weapon List with the assigned weapon classes for newer calibres. The only small game lever-action on the list is the 17 HMR
- 280 Ross Bolt-action Rifle: Class 3 to 8 (A Must Have because its Canadian)
- 22 Magnum Revolver: Class 1 to 2 (Good for chasing after beavers to get vengeance for all your fallen stands and tents)
- 50 AE Semi-auto Pistol - Class 5 to 9 (Yes I am including the Desert Eagle)
- 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle - Class 1 to 2 (Good for hunting foxes, hares, beavers and grouse)
- 376 Steyr Scout Rifle - Class 7 to 9 (Would be more suitable for an African Reserve but I could not pass it up)
I do not plan on expanding the weapon list for this reserve concept any further
Dude turnbull sounds like a monster of a weapon
The 454 Lever Action rifle sounds cool
Imagine the teaser Trailer would come out today 🫣
Atleast there would be another map with partridge in it if this came out
Give it another week or so, that’s when sundarpatan’s released
I’d also like to see a .45-70 Rolling Block (or a Sharps as a callback to Cotw Classic)
i know, i was just dreaming 🙃
but i really hope that they stick to their pattern and don't pull the rapid hunt pack move ...
EC and Nepal were released on the 23th and 22th of may so it would be a crime if it wouldnt release next week
I’d also like to mention a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 that shoot exclusively slugs and the Beneli R1. People seem to pack these a lot when camping in the Arctic during the summer on account of them being very easy to use.
what would class ranges be? they look fire 🔥
4-8 would be preferable but give it enough power to put a decent hurting on a polar bear👀
And the Benelli R1 comes in .308, .30-06, .300, and .338Win
.300 and .338 👀
I’m a big proponent for a .300 win mag reclassing. Personally I’d like to see 5-8 and the .338 could be 6-9.
i would like the .300 to be a 5-9 weapon, we only have one and thats the drilling. but yeah idk how the irl counterpart does against buffalo and such stuff
Most of class 9 (with the exception of bison) aren’t within the .300’s range of capabilities.
hhm, somehow a bit to obvious if you ask me .... but i am probably tripping
a fox picture on there socials maybe a teaser for arctic fox? i mean i am just taking that from the comment section
maybe? They've been very cryptic lately with these posts, so who knows what they're hinting at
to be honest the peaple in comments got me thinking about it... i would`ve completely ignored it 😂
maybe we get an obvious teaser for the new map tomorrow? like a pic or like they`ve done with sundarpatan?
I think tomorrow is too soon, they never released any teaser trailers for the summer map earlier than May 20th, maybe next Friday?
i think they could put a more obvious teaser out tommorow and then the teaser trailer on tuesday. but we have to wait and see
I think the new community challenge with the bears is a hint, new bear is coming
What new community challenge
There’s a new community challenge to hunt bears over 180kg
Where in the World did they announce that 🙏 😭
that is pretty interesting... hmm
Were is this Community challenge? 🙏 is it only ingame with no announcement on their socials?
Idk haven’t seen any announcements but yeah it’s ingame go check
Okay i was just Wondering cause thete was atleast an Event in discord for it
soo now we know whats on friday 😂
Here is the Updated Weapon List
- 280 Ross Bolt-action Rifle: Class 3 to 8 (A Must Have because its Canadian)
- 22 Magnum Revolver: Class 1 to 2 (Good for chasing after beavers to get vengeance for all your fallen stands and tents)
- 50 AE Semi-auto Pistol - Class 5 to 9 (Yes I am including the Desert Eagle)
- 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle - Class 1 to 2 (Good for hunting foxes, hares, beavers and grouse)
- 45-70 Rolling Block Rifle
While I still don’t plan on expanding the weapon list, I will replace weapons
I replaced the 376 Steyr with the 45-70 Rolling Block for one main reason: We need the 45-70 to be the handcannon it should have been
(926/1000)
We're soooooooo close!!
This coming week we're getting at least something for sure
At this point I agree. It's mostly due to the fact i don't know much about European Bison other than their conservation history, but i originally was fine with them...then Planet Zoo added them to their game and now i want CotW's to look like PZ's
I hope they bring the streams back next week, then tease a bit in the first stream on tuesday and then drop teaser on thursday 🙏
PLEASE! I need something to keep me going
I hope for bison g1 and muskox, since they added two class 9s on Sundarpatan i believe they can be in this one too, also hoping for bison remodel
Muskox prolly gonna be class 8, but the second class 9 can be the Polar Bear
🇨🇦
I recall having Polar Bear listed as a Class 9 Species alongside Wood Bison while I have the Muskox as a Class 8 Species
Wouldn’t the Walrus be class nine as well, Sundarpatan has Three class 3 animals on it the tiger, water buffalo and the wild yak, if we get a Canadian arctic map this June with the Polar Bear, Walrus and wood bison that would be three new class 9 animal species.
I’m looking at my species list and I have Walrus, Wood Bison & Polar Bear as Class 9 Animals
But just in case here is the species list again
Returning Species (7)
- Grizzly Bear
- Moose
- Caribou
- Grey Wolf
- Goldeneye
- Rock Ptarmigan
- Willow Ptarmigan
Brand New Species (16)
- Polar Bear (Class 9)
- Walrus (Class 9)
- Wood Bison (Class 9)
- Muskox (Class 8)
- Arctic Wolf (Class 4 or 5)
- Dall's Sheep (Class 4)
- Ringed Seal (Class 3)
- Wolverine (Class 2 or 3)
- Canada Lynx (Class 2)
- Arctic Fox (Class 2)
- American Beaver (Class 2)
- Snowshoe Hare
- Hoary Marmot
- Spruce Grouse
- Snow Goose
- King Eider
Why Snowshoe Hare, not Arctic Hare?
Yukon Valley needs Snowshoe Hare, and this map needs Arctic Hare.
The subspecies Peary Caribou for Caribou 🥺
It isint that deep 🙏
The Harp Seal is the species of seal most hunted in Canada, I think
Yo these look incredible i hope EW added those
It aint no walrus, but ill take it
They are nearly the hole 🕳️ for escaping from shooting them at 300-400 meters
I wonder how EW would make seals and stuff work .
Either they would work like crocs or euro rabbits i think
The same mechanism as the rabbit and burrow.

Well they aren’t stupid. They’ve adapted to live with polar bears.
To my knowledge their sense of smell is superb
In think the smaller seals could work like this, but walrus should work like crocs
The only mainland areas in Canada where Arctic Hare live are over in Quebec and Labrador, and the map I drew for this concept is mostly on the mainland with some islands, and to add to it the map is not entirely tundra with Boreal Forest and Mountains, therefore the Snowshoe Hare was the better choice
I should also mention that the Peary's Caribou were excluded from the main list for similar reasons, and as for the seals, Harp Seals are more around Eastern Canada and Greenland where as Ringed Seals are widespread across the Arctic, if I add another seal species it will be the Bearded Seal which also has a similarly widespread distribution
You think putting a diamond Walrus in my African lodge should be a crime? 💀
Walrus skin jacket!
If this ends up being the next map i would like a list like this below.
I don't really care for Walrus and seals. I can't wait for some of the others in the list. I probably wouldn't be able to keep playing the game if we don't get some of these on the list. It wouldn't keep my interest to wait another year.
Polar Bears
Wolverine
Elk hopefully Roosevelt
Muskox
Grizzly Bear
Stone Sheep
Dall Sheep
Mule Deer
Artic Fox
Wood Bison
Some new Grouse
Sandhill Crane
Some new ducks
I strongly disagree with the inclusion of any elk on a Reserve in the Canadian Arctic, especially Roosevelt's given they are exclusive to the Pacific coast, it would be like Lesser Kudu on Vurhonga all over again, I would rather see Walrus over Elk, plus while an Arctic Reserve would be a well recieved map we could still get at least a couple more North American Reserves after Africa 2.0
A serious crime 💀 (arctic lodge when EW?)
A photo from the museum in the town I live in featuring Walrus & Ringed Seal
Ähm.... Since when are these things that massive 💀
You could just cosplay as a Victorian Explorer with Spring Creek.
And i wanted to pull a joke about walrus being twice as big as elephants 💀
Harp Seal and Walrus
This engraving is is over 185 years old and is from work by Dr John Godman, the notable American naturalist and physician. It was made in 1828 and is an antique, not a reproduction. Godman's work illustrated many of the best known mammals of North America.
Trust me i am already doing it 😎
The same part of the museum that houses this pair also has a Marco Polo Sheep & a full body replica of an Elephant
Yea should’ve mentioned that but thanks
Yeah, they only get to around 700lbs
the mega goat
megoat even
Underneath all that fur they probably look like really weird bighorn sheep
Funny enough their closest relatives in the sheep and goat family are Gorals
That’s exactly what I was thinking 😂
Next week is taking foreeveeeeeer to come!!!!!
How do we know that the map is coming in June and not July or August?
Take a Look at last Map Releases, they all taked place around mid june
Atleast it isint a full week anymore that we have to wait
🇨🇦
were there any leaks/clues about the new reserve coming yet?
- the tease last winter at the winter preview show
- the bison image on instgram that could tease bison beeing on the new map
- fox image which could tease arctic fox
- Community challange about bears which could tease polar bears
- Polar bear emojis in the last official messages
thats all, the teaser trailer should come either on tuesday or thursday next week.
i mean, the could say "haha we fooled ya all" and the next reserve is norway
i would be so pissed
Also them turning us all into bears back on April fools day could point to Polar bears
true i also had that thought
Too much bear action recently
its also a good contrast since black bears are black and polar bears are white
I can't bear it
Where are the polar bear emojis?
what does polls and new weapons have to do with polar bears ?
Dude you really have been thorough hahaha i’m impressed
Arctic reserve definetly confirmed right there
they just need to post one letter and i am explaining why they just teased africa 2.0 with that letter 😂
hahaha
🇨🇦
the message evolved 😂
Don’t tell me that’s supposed to be a polar bear though it looks like a mouse or smthn hahah
good graphiks i guess
🇨🇦
🇨🇦
Tomorrow's Tuesday, so we just might
it could be every day this week but i hope for tomorrow
Let’s hope it happens, i’m hypes
Any sort of communication from the devs 🙏
Most likely not today. I’d say wait a bit longer, maybe tomorrow?
itll either be tomorrow or thursday
Tomorrow🙏 (THIS IS NOT AN OFFIAL THUMBNAIL!!!)
if we dont get the teaser trailer tomorrow i hope we get atleast a stream
Bi✝ch i thought that was real for a second 😭
no way i found that on the website 🥹
Go to hell, I believed that 😭
haha got ya
It looks so real
i remember looking in this channel early april and saw you saying that EW put out a new teaser ....... that was the revenge i guess (i believed it for a second)
no way look what i found on their instagram @hardy osprey
Fool me once shame on you
Fool me twice shame on me
Fool me thrice get a price
Won't get a price cause I didn't buy that one
at this point i am just rage batting ya
MY HEART!
please dont tell me you believed that to 😭
First half a second lol
Good so, i didnt intend to fool anyone 😂
