A brain shot would honestly be that much easier
Skillz
I think on actual hunting charters in Africa, you are required to shoot crocodiles in the brain because it becomes a danger if they live
I feel like beavers would require their own mechanic like euro rabits but with dams
Kodiak Island anyone?
Not impossible but pretty difficult
They’d have to disappear
Which I mean I guess they could run into like a wall of sticks and not come out for a while
Well yea
Thats what i meant
Also the dams would have to spawn in random places like burrows
Hell yeah
@lusty orbit not really beaver dams are in water so they can be placed in water.
There just wood and mud
Yea, but it would be coolr with dams
@lusty orbit beavers don’t live in the dams, they just block water access that forms ponds for the lodges that they actually live in.
Then whatevwr that is called
A hut?
Yeah beavers live in huts.
a lodge, actually
Hut, lodge whatever you call them, they live in giant wood structures in the center of ponds.
Do you guys think we will be able to shoot the gators in the skull or will it be labeled a trophy organ
Every alligator hunter I know shoots them in the head
you dont shoot lungs
I’d assume you could. Normally alligators are shot either brain or neck
Yea neck too
You use the eyes/ear things as a guide to center your shot for the brain, then you just have to figure out where to shoot for the neck. I guess you could do a lung shot, i know that’s sometimes done in crocodile hunting because the crocs normally won’t go underwater with a lung shot so it’s easier to find them. It’s not very efficient though, compared to brain or neck. I’d hope they don’t count the skull as a trophy organ, but I would understand if they did
Not sure how lungshots work on alligators, but I’d assume similar. It’s still not a great option though
Be cool if you had to shoot them before they went underwater like rabbits in burrows
Hope for a brainshot
And them to be classified as like 4-6, if you miss the brain you ruin the trophy
But a lung shot also is safe
So hunting Gators in general will actually be challenging
Maybe it’ll be a combination
I mean like, length of skull? That could be feasible, even with brainshots
Bigger Gator + Skull = Overall score
Yeah
Need the Gators to mess ya up like RDR2
Grab ya and shake ya around lol
That’ll be hilarious to speculate
A gator stole my dads hat in RDR2 😭
He got jumped by one, and when he respawned his hat was gone lmao
I shot a gator in RDR2, thought it was dead. Walked up to skin it when it suddenly lunged, grabbed me, and shook me like a rag doll. After that I always checked the mini-map before approaching a gator, to make sure it was dead.
XD
Hope they update the black bear model if they add them to the new map
Gators are usually the biggest meme animal in any game they’re in
In FC they give you free heart attacks, RDR2 they also give you heart attacks and steal hats
Hopefully they are pretty hilarious in cotw
Make them hyper aggressive, so when your in the menu or something they sneak up on you, then they just insta-kill you
Phht that would be so bad
what is FC?
Far Cry
oh ok
that would be cool but atm the water is so clean that we can see the gator trying to sneak at us, which i think they should change as swamp water is usually very dirty and dark
If I get jump scared by an alligator this game is no longer just a hunting game
I think once you start to get close to one you can hear a low growl
In the past you could hunt elephants with a .22lr
Also the reason 375 is the minimum for dangerous game in Africa is because a bigger bullet is more likely to drop an animal before it murders you
People were dumber back then and didn’t really have established rules + better gunpowder
More people got mauled back then in comparison to now
Also, ethical hunting rules
The quicker you kill an animal the less time it has to suffer
I stg this channel just turns into a second general chat more than half the time
Yep
not like there's any clues left to ponder over
Oh, sorry~
clues chat is always deralied
I do like the idea of how Speedloaders can be part of the skill tree instead of an attachment like I was thinking of
I for one would like to welcome our new alligator overlords and remind them that as a hunting game enthusiast, I will be key in recruiting more players to be dragged to their watery toothy demise.
the clue chat (when all clues are found and the general consensus about what the clues are hinting towards is established) becomes a place where people whine and complain that they didn’t get what they wanted, then a few days after that sh*tstorm, it turns into a second general chat discussing anything but clues since they have already been found, though the discussions mostly have something to do with the clue speculation. I stop checking it a few days after the sh#tstorm that ensues shortly after all clues has been found, and it looks like the sh#tstorm is over now, thank goodness!
I see you've been around for a while 🤣🤣
Yep😅
Lmao
If this is in Mississippi/Louisiana.....will we get nutria?
we'll have to wait and see, wont we :)
im hoping for swamp bucks and raccoons personally
and beavers
ooh i just read louisiana has wolves :0
I have plenty of revenge in store for beavers if we get them...they have cost me dearly in camping supplies in this game...
lol
I don't think wolves will make an appearance sadly. We will probably get a species list that is very close to Rougerou
dang :(
so basically like a werewolf? lmao
it would be pretty interesting. i'd love to see more missions like the halloween missions from a couple years back
ye
the possessed animal one from last year scared me XD i didnt know what was going on
yeah lol imagin a survival mode with whitetails with Chronic Wasting Disease lol
wait.
what if we had a mission where we had to survive
against...
nvm i cant find a pic
irradiated moose?
but there is a picture out there of deer that have wicked sharp teeth
its edited but itd still be cool to see in game. its like demon deer
Or all the animals had rifles and you had to escape throught the swamp
oooh
Call of The wIld: Hunted
The only weapon you get is a primitive bow and a quiver full of arrows.
and a hunting knife
What is the species list for rougarou?
Bobcat, Feral Hog, Black Bear, Whitetail, Gadwall, Mallard, Pintail, American Black, and i think thats it
I could be missing one or two
Add Bigfoot and I’m happy
lol
🦶 that's the closes to can get to bigfoot without it spooking
lmao
Jeez u laughed to loud and spooked it I had the best shot on it and u messed me up
🤣
oh im sorry :(
It's fine it was a small one
👣 I found some of its tracks
Dang you know the if it's a good one
The one I had was a 2
oooh chase this one
Why?!
bc i found tracks ;-;
Oh ok
You got a shot on it?!
yes.
Shoot it
🦶 💥 🔫
This should probaly be took to dms
Yeah
Letting you so the mods didn't have to
anyways yea bigfoot for a suprise halloween event would be cool
dont even let us know when itll be in effect, just one day be playing and find bigfoot tracks
I would like to see Rudolph make an appearing for Christmas
Yeah
Reindeer that can spawn with a red nose
god itd be cool to hunt peacocks; aaaaand a quick google tells me it isnt legal to hunt em
WRONG WE CAN'T do that
???
In California.
they're classified as domestic livestock there.
oooh, looked to be the same in florida too? but i also am a dumbass
they seem to be legal in NZ??? but i cant tell
It's a little weird in Florida in that rules are set by the local communities
interesting
So it's a possibility I suppose 🤔
i guess it comes down to if they wanna deal with their ridiculous feathers which id understand if they dont
I think the map will have alligators actually
Agree, most certainly a place holder, --- not to reveal anything.
more likely a glitch i think could be a place holder or a glitch
Oh it's absolutely supposed to be a placeholder.
oh ok
They wouldn't reveal the name before it's been officially announced, at risk of landing themselves in hot water.
anything new?
Nope
darn
Yay! Next week the Hunter will be free!
Then I can convince my friends to play it, maybe they’ll like it and buy the dlc too
for a weekend?
I hate when games make you pay and then go free later
I paid for Rocket League, now it’s free
I paid for gta and it was free the next week on epic
But hey it’ll bring some people to this game who go on the store and say “hey it’s free why not”
I'm honestly concerned about that platform with how it pays companies to have exclusives
the last thing I want to see is PC platforms going the way of streaming services.
For me they only do this with games that uses unreal engine...never saw It coming to COTW tbh...
This really could be the new trend...after online only...really bad for future gaming...
Both of those trends
Eh, it'd all come crashing down sooner or later when no one can afford to support them.
but depressing topic is depressing
Aside from alligators, any guesses for the new map's roster?
Will the alligator be the only new animal
Fair point
Hm ducks🦆
I’d like to see more than 2 new ducks but I’ll be happy with whatever
Lmao bird shot and kill like 5 at a time
Yes
lets say there are frogs,we might need to shoot them with the 22,small game arrows or a new small game rifle 👀
17 hmr
a slingshot would be better
or maybe a HightTech Professional Slingshot: Frog Hunt DLC
XD
New map prob has wt and boars
@warm basin not probably, will.
Hopefully, then the map will feel like home lol
and it'll be 3/4 of the turkey slam from Bird Hunter 2003, which I would be overjoyed with
im thinking gators are on the new map
They couldn't do it
Why would you say that? They definitely will not be on the map. If they were they would’ve been shown in the teaser. 🤦♂️
exactly
thats why its crossed out 👍
Alligators is ridiculous, they wouldn’t add those to the game
lolol
Whitetails will be added, no doubt
The real question is whether my Great One will be a Magnificent Macho or a Swamp Donkey
I.. I can’t tell if this is sarcasm, re: the gators
So your all saying that this is an American Crocodile instead of American Alligator? Right.
Hmm...
first image is gator, second is croc
...I think it's a gator. Back knobs aren't as ridged-looking
Check the jaw, the pics aren’t loading for me.
U-shaped jaw and mostly hidden teeth = gator
V-shaped jawline and highly visible teefs are crocs
American gators tend to be dark/slate tones
Image angle doesn't allow for that exact comparison unfortunately
And this is an image of a ||Chevrolet movie theater||
yeah, jaw/tooth makes it look like an alligator to me
@uneven bloom @limber cliff I knew we’re getting American alligators.was being sarcastic
I'm trying to use the trees to mark it down a bit futher, I think they're cyprus trees but can't tell 100%. lots of potential cyprus swamps in the southeast US
- I already stated I wasn’t sure your tone,
- Just dropping differences for folks who weren’t sure or aren’t as bigboi lizard nerdy as me 😅😅
@inland isle probably white cypress.
I wonder how cypress trees smell
Which sounds weird, but I live where there’s a lot of pine trees and the area just has a distinct scent
they looked like bald cypress trees to me in the start as the vid panned over the water. iirc those are considered a Louisiana icon but they cover a solid range of land that doesn't help mark it down too much
I sure hope youre right!!! I love WT!!
I'd generally expect something with gators and cypress trees to be LA though, which would be pretty sick
a bit thin for bald cypress, but the shape was right-ish
Yea I'm guessing its either a Florida or Louisiana map. Those trees can be found in either location
idk I haven't been to the southeast in a bit aside from a few flights to florida, I'm in the AZ desert lol
But from the music and trailer leads me to the deep South
Yeesh, the dust region.
Made me think Mississippi or Louisiana
the slide guitar had me pinned on Lousiana lol. Delta blues is pretty heavily associated with LA/MS
Same. Has to be louisiana
Exactly
Faaaacts
not sure which one they'll go with. had to google this but delta blues started in the MS delta (I was wrong and thought it was LA)
that's taking a bit of a stretch and assuming the history of the music in the teaser is a clue on it's own
The Mississippi River delta ends at the Louisiana Gulf of Mexico border.
oh lol. I feel dumb now
ohh yeah it does, had to pull a map of it up. I know where the MS river is just don't know the specifics of the delta off the top of my head lol
We have a croc at our local 3d target club. If you miss you have to go for a swim!
There’s the physical Mississippi Delta which is where it empties in LA to the gulf but there’s also culturally the Mississippi Delta area which is actually in Northern Mississippi, that’s where the Delta blues started
A bit complicated
alligators have big heads and are more rounded. crocodiles have much more narrow snouts and alot have a ball like feature on the nose
The U vs V snout doesn't work from that angle. Instead, you look for overlapping teeth(Alligator) or interlocking teeth (crocodile)
So I literally took a class on herpetology and we spent a few weeks on crocodilian ID. The thing in the trailer is most definitely an Alligator, and not a crocodile. All 'crocodile-crocs' have a spot where the 4th tooth on the lower jaw sticks up past the upper jaw. You can see the notch where it is on the picture someone posted of the crocodile. Also, the head is pretty bulbous and not slimline at all (you can tell from the side as well as the top). The only way that could be a crocodile is if EW completely hand-waived trying to make the animal remotely look like the actual thing. So I think that Alligator confirmed is 100% safe.
Though for real, I wasn't expecting a NA map to buck the trend, but this location was my second most wanted, so I can't be too mad. Especially not if we can actually hunt the gators! They're not a creature I thought would ever make it in, honestly.
This is speculation, but you may or may not have noticed, that they alternate between having a male warden and female warden each new map. Understandable, but that coupled with the pattern they release maps with, all the North American maps have male wardens and all the ones elsewhere have female wardens (except Vurhunga). I think they released two North American maps in a row this time to break the pattern.
@raw otter what I said was a joke.
Anyone have an idea or a guess when the new map might be coming?
We are hoping for more updates this Tuesday
Maybe by the end of this month or next month
I want my gators 😄
im pretty sure since it was in the trailer we are getting them lol
Well yeah, and I want them
Like right now
we are getting them XD
oh, we have to wait lol
😔
PHHT
😢
aww you poor lambs /j
I just need a baby gator chirp for the call lure
It as a activated Perk since it's a call that someone just makes not actual caller would be neat
Or just look at the nose lmao
Yeah the people that even remotely think but that is a crocodile has never seen either of them before
If your on console you will be waiting a very long time
Yep , with the way the last few dlcs have been were probably gonna be waiting even longer 😊
We have a lot of alligators here in America so it is presumably a gator
Problem solved
Pretty much. American crocodiles in the US are confined to a small-ish range in the very southern part of Florida.
Trailer on tuesday
ye they usually release the trailer a week after the teaser
on tuesday of course
its always tuesday
bc thats when they stream
You're right, but there are literally also crocodiles in FL too, so it wouldn't be impossible for them to add them to a more coastal portion of the swamp. Not that they're going to do that, but I can see people trying to argue that.
I think the idea that it's anything other than a 'gator is absurd, but I'm just trying to back you people up for all the people still thinking crocodile somehow.
Isn't Tuesday some official media release day too? I seem to remember that from back in the day when new games would always drop on a Tuesday
Its obviously a nile crocodile 🙄
After the black squares thing, I wouldn't put it past people lolol
What black squares thing?
People thinking the render glitch of "black squares" was a clue that meant Africa, because 3 squares = 3 syllables. I can't make that up. It was real and happened in this very chat.
🤦♂️
Yeah, exactly
As much as i want africa even i wouldnt say that
I thought we were getting nile crocs lmao
Or hoped*
I did too honestly. I actually wanted a southeast US map (Grew up in the Carolinas), so this was a pleasant surprise. But with them actually dropping gators, I think we have a really good chance of crocodiles in Africa II.
I knew we wernt tho
I live in the carolinas
And last thing I would want is a map here
No good NC species that layton doesnt have covered
I just think it'd be cool to have local stuff. Great small game map. Maybe gators and whitetail as your big species. Then lots of ducks, possums, racoons, squirrels, etc. We need an actual small game map, still. 🙂 Though I know most people prefer the big flashier animals. We just have so many of them already
I mean, Layton is missing a lot of potential options.
Rancho
Besides squirells
No one WANTS to hunt racoon and opossum tho lets be honest
Eh, kinda? It's the most small game map, but it still only has 2 birds, a coyote and a bobcat for smaller game.
Speak for yourself.
I think that an arboreal mechanic would be quite fantastic.
Why not a possum in the lodge? It's every bit as much an animal as a mallard or a feral goat.
I'd rather have an opossum than a 50th species of rabbit
I refuse to kill goats
Possums are ugly tho
Goats are my fav animal irl so i wont even kill the 5s on my TA lmao
'gators ain't exactly beautiful either lol. I don't care whether the animal is ugly or cute unless it's a red deer. Their model is pretty bad.
Gators look sick tho
That's fair. Not gonna fault you on that.
See, you could put a smiling possum in the lodge! XD
😂
From all the ones ive killed they get ugly when they die
I trap my land bc they eat my eggs
And killed my turkeys
Darn little adaptable turds.... Sorry to hear that. Not gonna fault you at all for protecting your stuff!
Wait. Possums killed your turkeys?
See? There's a whol 3 of us now, counting my buddy who also agrees. everyone throw your money at EW for possums
Possums and raccoons would be pretty cool. Quail would be neat too, with the same sort of mechanic that pheasants have. Not sure if there’s much quail in Louisiana/Mississippi though
Agree. That's 4 for possums lol
Tbh I stuff basically everything that looks cool to me
Like my Diamond Feral Pig I got
I'm sorry, but that reminded me of the JG Wentworth commercial. "It's my gator and I want it now!"
LMAO
Call 877-GATORNOW
🎶 877-GATORNOW
I’ll trade you my clapped out 2000 Ford ranger for a single alligator
Sure thing
Give me a moment Attempts to wrestle a 10 foot Gator and gets mauled

That’s just Florida
You should checkout bamboo rats
count me in too
5 for possums lol
Yes
I had a vid of one carrying a wing
On trailcam
How small are your turkeys?
Opossums and Raccoons would be nice
Give me something else to pop with my .22
You know what?
Instead of like Whitetail again...why not Sambar Deer?
Similar to Red Deer a little
Because they are not found in any place that has American Alligators
Umm
You know that they can be on a reserve right? And they’re an invasive species. Plus they are indeed in Florida
Okay, so they are in Florida
The map is in Mississippi or Louisiana
The latter being more likely
Could also be a Lousiana/Florida thing
Those states don't even touch each other
the teaser gave me major vibes of a Florida map from an Old game I used to obsess over
But then why the river clue?
and I recall hearing that maps are never based on one specific area
But they are in a specific area
The Sambar deer is in Mississippi, but not Louisiana
Now you got a legitimate arg
Argument
But hey, why not both?
Since the only big game otherwise would be the WT and black bear
And probably pig
Excluding the gators of course
Okay, yeah pig
Maybe it should have sambar deer
Cause I do not belive they will add a map located in their native regions
Like the Water Buffalo
Yep
The last map I can see being justified in North America after this is a Texas Hill Country map, with exotic game from those regions, but adding sambar deer to this one would open up a slot on such a map
For another such species
Suddenly, I'm on board with this
I’d feel like the Sambar Deer would actually be easy to add because they appear similar to Sika deer
But are much bigger
Like Red deer size
They’d fit into Class 6
Or 7, depends
I’d say 7
.270 is apparently the recommended caliber for them
Are Elks class 7?
8
I forgot
Both are 8
You can still use the 270 on them, but it's clearly being pushed to its limit
So if a theoretical Sambar Deer was added, what class would they put them in?
That’d be the first Deer in 7 right?
I wouldn't do it, but yeah
I took mine with a .243
But he was only like 150 pounds
What color was he?
IRL hunting btw
Ik
He was like that super deep brown color
Dark Chocolate
Yeah
Back on the base subject, I hope gators are class 8
I’d say class 6
I wouldn’t mind 8 because I’ll probably hunt the area with a scoped 12GA slug shooter anyways
Because .357 is like a caliber that is always used to hunt gators
The animal may be big, but a brain shot between the eyes instantly takes them out
Heck people do it with .22s
And Brain shots are mandatory against Gators
So is using steel birdshot on ducks
And using shotguns on most birds
And hunting big game only during the day
Except in Alaska
The list of hunting laws that people often do not follow in the game is a couple miles long
Just saying their skull thickness between their eyes is super thin
Something like a 10Ga slug would probably not be necessary
It would be if you were trying the normal heart/lung shot while they are basking
The scales on the lower side/bottom of an alligator are not as strong as the top. You can penetrate it with bows and spears, as was done by native Americans quite commonly in the past. A gun would work for lung/heart, just wouldn’t be as efficient or realistic as a brain/neck shot
The bottom is their weak spot for sure
And side
Nah it’s not that thick
Depends on the spot. The scales get weaker as they go lower, quite quickly
I’d say a .243 can punch through that spot behind the arm pit and take out the lungs
For sure
So, you wait for its front leg to be posed forward?
Now I'm realizing something
Some gators get to 800-900 pounds, sure, so normally I would take to weapons meant for animals that size. But like 1/3 of that weight is in their tail, unlike most other animals that size
I feel like Gators have a reverse logic in comparison to the African Lion(a little)
Lions are smaller than Grizzlies but need a bigger Caliber because of how dangerous they are
Gators are about as big, but an Caliber option like a .243 is good enough to take them out
So, weapons for animals upnto 600 pounds might work, ie the 243
The lion thing was just so the 470 was permitted, since the real world legally requires a 375 H&H or more
Permitted, not required
The .375 is actually minimal
Not such rule exist with Grizzlies
Oddly enough I wish we got the .416 instead
It literally is an elephant gun
Jack O'Connor killed lions with a 270, I am pretty sure
Before that requirement was a thing
He shot everything with a 270
You can pretty much take anything out with something like a .270 or a .30-06
But for people’s own safety in Africa, laws are put in place to prevent some dumpy going after an Buffalo with a .270 and later get trampled
Yep
Less casualties that way
This brings me to a conversation I had about shooting a T Rex, after I watched The Lost World
So, I brought up how 1/3 of a gator's mass is in its tail, so maybe it doesn't require that much power after all.
The same thing is true with comparing elephants to T Rex
Sure, rex is bigger, but 1/3 the mass is in the tail, so maybe a heart/lung shot could be viable (or even more practical when you consider the small brain size)
On a T Rex a lung or a heart shot would most likely be WAY more viable than a head shot
The Dino’s head is up higher so it’s harder to shoot at
No, but check in at Tuesday’s stream
I believe we have found all that can be found clue wise, we are just waiting on them to release (hopefully) the full trailer
wtf is up with the saw sound on hirsch
Can you Stihl hear it?
...or Huskies in the taiga. 😅
There’s an area on the map that has fallen/cut down trees. It gives it more of a thematic ambience
Same for the dogs barking
and the plane
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Sommer asking you to kill yet another fox
lol
With a bow from 300m away
In a ground blind that's nowhere near any zones
Within a 2mx2m square
Wish the plane sound would just.. cease, nah?
lol
the plane sound makes a lot of sense, if they were to remove one ambient sound from Hirschfelden it should be the dog barking, but even that makes a lot of sense
Yes, that dog... 🤐

Add armadillos to rancho.
I like to see map overview and official trailer on Tuesday.
ARMADILLAS KEEP DIGGIN- LITTLE HOLES, IN MY BACKYARD
add pheasant and mallard to Te Awaroa
Yes.
If they carry leporsy why are they friend shaped 🤨
👀
hello
Morning
how are you?
Im alive
Hbu?

or pointing towards
We just put out corn today 😂
We running behind lol
Missing out on rut
lol
Ist hier wer Deutsch ? Suche Freunde mit denen ich Call of the Wild spielen kann
Thx
👀
Hey guys, you know the song in the trailer right?
no
No one could find it so we are assuming it’s an original they made for the trailer itself
This might not mean much but I did some searching on the clue picture and came up with the location of Catalonia, Delta del Ebro. It's a massive wetland.
Nice.
Was just something crossed my mind.
Same, I think a lot of people enjoyed the song
I want to know who the artist is
And throw a bunch of cash at the screen for a music album
I suppose we won’t be getting a bangstick for hunting the gators? 😂
That’d be fun to trap hunt
That’s intersting
W e. N e e d. M o r e. L e v e r. A c t i o n s
i want more muzzleloaders
A modern in-line muzzleloader wuld be great
im so hoping the new map is Australia
that’s def the music style and terrain that was shown in the trailer
There are no gators in Australia, sorry
Wishful thinking, it is very very likely to be North America, since there has been a clue saying ‘Rivers of North America and there was an Alligator in the teaser and everything points to a North American swamp map
But the crocodilian in the trailer was an alligator
I know. But that wasn't a crocodile
Looked a bit fat for a gator
It was wishful thinking though 🥲
Also, some of our gators do get pretty fat
Granted, those are captive ones that I know of
Australia / Asia = Salt water crocs. Look like gators. However, agree - the poster says North America.
I keep forgetting camels are so common in Australia that Suadi Arabia imports them from there
Salt water crocs are extremely aggressive -- also towards humans
But they originated in North America, and frankly, I think they should be reintroduced
Brumbie hunting might be a bit controversial
So would roo hunting, but to a lesser extent
What do you mean?
Roo hunting isn't controversial in Australia.
Oh
That figures
But Americans and Europeans aren't exposed to Kangaroos the same way AUstralians are
They run them down with 4x4s lmao
The concept of hunting them was foreign to me until about a year or two ago
I see no reason why they can't be eventually added
Jesus
They have fox and other random introduced species too like buffalo
How about dingo hunting?
Dingos only if they've cross bred If I remember correctly
Upland birds and waterfowl is pretty extensive too.
Upland game birds should be added to most existing maps, now that the mechanic is shown possible
Blue Grouse in SRP
Ptarmigan in Yukon
Doves in Parque
Pheasant in the awaroa
Red Legged Partridge in Cautro Colllinas
Pheasant, duck and Canadian goose hunting is massive in the hunting community here.
Much, much more than turkey which is mostly a bird kept for target practice so they're generally semi tame.
Brutal
Target practice to table lmao
Can those ones even fly?
Yeah, not far.
To be fair, wild ones can't fly far either.
When they fly, It's usually to get to their roost, or to escape a fox or yote, or the occasional mountain lion
in any case, flying to the nearest tree is sufficient to escape
Friend of mine has a flock of about 60 mixed coloured turkeys she shoots every now and then. I'd say a good half are buff/white.
Sounds pretty domesticated
They don't know where they came from.
And the Turks are nowhere near the house.
Pretty cool to see white ones with yellowish accent colours though.
You sure that yellowish accent isn't dirt or...worse?
Yellowish gold*
That..makes me more inclined to think "excrements" lol. sorry
I'd say it's more like a leucisism.
Okay, now that doesn't
I asked her and there's a wild story 🤣
Well, now you have to tell it
So a local constable played a prank on a turkey obsessed friend who bred the colour meticulouslyand essentially stole a bunch. They escaped.
Oh dear
Many many many years ago
And now a small handful of stations around the area spanning 100s of kms have small flocks. She has a large one because she likes the light coloured ones and picks off the normal ones.
Kinda cool tbh but also goes to show how things take over lmao
A story as old as humanity at this point
The south is facing this with wild boar/feral pigs (worse-their hybrids) and kudzu
Hippos are starting to take over columbia
Australia has magpie/crow hybrids. They're like extra murderous
and prickly pear cactus are in South Africa
I lived there for a year and have never been more scared of anything in my life
How come this hybridization is not documented elsewhere that has both species is what I'm wondering
Forget spiders and snakes or red roos that square you up. Murder birds were terrifying.
Pretty sure it's a hooded crow and a magpie
Until a few months ago, I would've thought you were just unreasonably scared of these birds. But after hearing a story of two ravens teaming up to kill a mourning dove midair, i truly believe your fear has merit
I mean, I watch plover chase hawks on the daily 🤣
Hawks are easily intimated when approached
Such a small angry bird haha
I've seen plenty of lil tweety birds do that to redtails
Loud too I bet.
Saw a rare NZ falcon the other day.
You want to talk about a loud bird ? Try sandhill crane.
I live fairly remote so get to see some cool stuff.
They fly 4,000 feet above you and you STILL hear them
Wow
Before they are even close to right above you
They look like itty bitty specs in the sky
Look up lapwing plover. Don't mean to irritate ya but my gawd they are loud and annoying
It is, with utmost certainty a american gator.
I'll look it up
We might get sandhill crane in this next map
They would use goose mechanics, in shallow water
Also in regards to them allegedly not being as thick
They are
Holy
That one weighs at least 700
Your gator marketing falls short tells the rest of the world that they're small, they may be long but also skinny.
Lvl 3-4 = 7ft
Lvl 5 = 8,5ft
Lvl 6 = 10ft
Lvl 7-8 = 13ft
Lvl 9 =15,8ft
Please
Sounds reasonable
Lvl 10- 18 feet
You've thought a lot about this.
They better
Just having one would destroy the point of having gator trophies lol
It's a large part of their trophy Quality
I am just invested in researching crocs as a hobby, dont get me started on salties lol
Those lads are my favorites
I was so hoping it was an Aussie map. I only saw the trailer and first clue
The largest american alligator with described measurement was allegedly around 19ft, however no physical remains of it exist sadly.
So it is doubtful
It would have been an interesting tease, and only because most people don't realise that the Aussie crocs live in similar habitats depicted in the trailer.
It would be a GO
A lvl 10 saltie would be the biggest trophy ingame lol
Assuming one would make it 7m
At fabled
Weight regression for c.porosus
American Alligators are big, but are on average dwarfed by other crocodilians
7m would equal roughly 2000kg lmao
20ft is the largest ever
Oddly, there isn't much difference between the average female alligator and female saltwater crocodile
Its the males that are that big
Also, being reptiles, they never stop growing
There was one in Aus that was stealing children when I loved there and dumb shits would still go into the area and be tourists just to see it 🤯
Unlike mammals that eventually shrink
Oh no Lolong wasnt the largest saltie ever, far from it. His backline was 617cm but his groundline only 609,5cm. The largest full physical skin was 620cm groundline and it was dried and salted, fresh skin wouldve been bout 630cm groundline and 637,7cm backline, so bout 21ft. The largest skulls indicate a max length of 680-720cm.
That would be the paris skull
Which is ALOT larger than Lolongs
And the ratio of head to body length increases with body size usually
Increase in trophy quality for ya
If we take Lolongs HL:TL of 1:8,8 we get about 6,7m/22ft but it was likely larger due to the aforementioned reason.
But i am getting offtopic sorry
😅
Would be amazing
There even was a thorough description of how it looked too
Imma see if i can find it and share it later
But again take that specimen with a grain of salt
Because again, no physical evidence
@midnight moon agree with this list?
Possible Scale types for Gators:
Common
Young
Orange
Piebald
Leucistic
Albino
Melanistic
Orange wasnt due to pigmentation but the others sit right
Doesn't mean they can't add it
True
Prolly won't though
"Young" i can imagine as a mission gator
One that escaped captivity
18ft 2' is gigantic
If true
nah
tiny
Lel
it looks like someone just built him
like they put multiple tail pieces on him
That looks like a perfectly normal gator tail to me
my g climbed a tree?
Lel
@gaunt storm found the description of the alleged 19ft 2' gator
Again no physical evidence
So doubtful
One thing is for sure
He wasn't wrong about that gator being old
As previously stated, since they are reptiles, they never stop growing
(Remind me to never give them the gift of immortality)
They do stop growing
Well kinda
They never shrink
At a certain age the growth gets so slow that it is not noticable at all
Unlike mammals that do
Hence why they do not grow to any significant amount after a certain age.
A giant crocodilian doesnt have to be old either
A 40 year old saltie can be much bigger than a 100 year old one
One that big prolly does
Given that it's a statistical outlier
Most are not anywhere near that big
Croc size is mostly genetics, food supply and epigenetics.
Not age
And ofc stress exposure
Not that in depth but gives an idea
any news?
Not til Tuesday
k
Great conclusive article - thanks.
that would be perfect .O.
i hope that is what they do
Orange is my #1 wanted
The US southern swamp map trailer is finished, it’s hidden as a private video on expansive worlds call of the wild trailer playlist, there are 40 videos in the playlist but only 39 are available to the public at the time of this message being posted.
oh cool
What animals will be on the new map I’ve pretty much predicted 4 of the remaining 4 to 5 animals those being the largest animals in the region being whitetail deer, feral hog, American alligator, and black bear, the remaining animals are anyone’s guess, holding on hope that the American beaver is on the roster.
everyone is so upset that we got another NA map and im just like "just stop were not getting an Asia map"
what about Shoebill's?
@primal flare I’m not mad I alwayswanted to hunt gators in call of the wild.
@dense bloom any duck species can work just don’t know which ones they’ll add.
And how many duck species we’ll get.
are they adding a gun for the gators?
not say ur mad im saying a alot of people are mad
i mean everyone by lots of people
@primal flare those people should have expected that this map was going to be an inevitability whenever they wanted it or not.
i cant wait for this map to come
They wanted more maps with whitetail deer, now they’re getting two new maps with the animal they wanted.
Can’t please everyone
Honestly if WT are indeed on the new map, I'm probably going to be going for my second GO there
i dont even care what kind of map we get im still happy with it
Yeah lol
@uneven bloom not if, are there the only deer species that live in the environment we’re getting.
Does not mean they will be included on the map
It would be weird not to have at least one deer species, but we can only assume
Literally so upset. 😭
?
Does seem like the maps are rolling out quick though which is a positive sign for the future.
I'm one of those upset people.
im just guessing if they ever make another africa map it going to have greater kudu
jaguars are endangered
Well that was a example
Leopards maybe
Nevermind
There endangered too
Australia - Camels, fox, Roos, wild dog/dingo hybrids, waterfowl. Desert, swamp Andy alpine all in the same map
also another SA map would be cool
Brumbies? Yeah. Bit controversial but yeah
They're certainly a conservation issue
Thinning herds is encouraged though because of genetic disease an interbreeding.. wild horses. Generally suffer from historic injuries too
A less controversial equine would be zebras
Especially the plains, but the other two could work too
I would love to hunt plains zebra , also the albino would be pretty cool
As a rare, they could also have that black with white spots
Yea , also the sable antelope are pretty cool don’t know if they are endangered or not tho
And in the case of plains zebras, they can have two common variants: one with shadow stripes (mostly southern populations) and one without (mostly northern populations)
Don't worry about them being endangered. The lions demonstrate that they will add an animal with enough player pressure
Cause they are very endangered
I don’t think there’s enough player pressure for sable antelope lol
Really can’t wait for these alligators tho , I wonder if we will have to go for a head shot since that’s why way to kill them irl
That's probably because not enough people know they exist lol
I imagine both head and chest shots will be viable in this game
I see everybody wanting teal in the new map but what about sand hill cranes that would be amazing
The real question is whether or not you can shoot them in the water with bows, but not with guns
Sandhills would be cool
I realized that last night
They are tough birds notorious for trying to kill peoples' dogs
If they hit the ground wounded
Yea also considered filet mignon of the sky lol, a hunt I’ve always wanted to do irl honeslty
I have shot one sandhill crane in my life
I wasn't even intentionally
hunting them, they just happened to fly over me when they were in season, and I had an appropriate weapon
Never realized how big they were until then
Is the eastern cottontail in game yet ?
That’s what I’m thinking
The second rabbit in the game, that would be
(all the others are hares)
Could be a swamp or marsh rabbit
Looking up their ranges, they might added either the eastern Cottontail or a Swamp Rabbit
You hoping for em too?
Would be very cool, definitely. They’re not legal to hunt in my state though
Yep. I live in Florida and we have quite a few here, but no season for them. They were going to at one point I think, but then decided not to because they were worried about people shooting other cranes on accident
Yup
I'm trying to see if you can hunt them in Louisiana
Then again, you can't hunt Bison in Colorado
We have them, but not huntably
True, they don’t follow the normal laws sometimes
You're also not allowed to shoot across roads here
Or use a scope on your muzzleloader
Oh yeah the road one is a pretty serious one irl, would be very annoying in game lol
Tracking dogs can only be deployed after you shot your game and require a leash
I haven’t heard of that one before
Ah I see. Regardless of other species I’m pretty excited for alligators, always wanted to go on an alligator hunt
There's also a 4-point bull rule, but I rarely see bulls that small. And with the amount of big bulls I see, I would think that SRP is located in a Game Management Unit where that rule doesn't apply
So am I
I also have so many questions
Different model sizes? (I hope)
Basking zones?
Will they swim?
Yeah different sizes would be awesome, I’d assume they’d swim but that also seems like a lot to add to the game so who knows
If so, will there be realistic gun and bow water physics?
Water easily slows down/stops bullets, but not arrows
Maybe they’ll only swim on the surface, I feel like underwater swimming would cause a lot of trouble
They might not need to "swim" underwater
They could just drop to the bottom
As their primary escape method I imagine
Oh true, I didn’t think of that
And then go straight back up to the surface and resume swimming
In the case of a surface swim, that would still get in the way of chest shots, unless you have a bow.
Meaning only headshots would be viable with firearms when they are swimming
We're gonna need boats
If as much of the map is water as I think it is
That trailer made it look like mostly water with relatively few patches of dry land
Yeah boats will be super cool. Hoping for some duck hunting you can do from the boat too with decoys
I don’t know a ton about duck hunting to be honest. We have teal, wood duck, scaup, whistling duck, pintails that I can think of. There’s more, but I don’t know them off the top of my head
Hello guys, what weapon do you think you mess with the new map?
A HUGE diversit
I personally hope for a 4 species roster like in Classic
Maybe Pintail, Wood Duck, American Wigeon, and Greenwing Teal
feel like they're prolly gonna reuse mallards
i'm guessing mallard, pintail, wood duck, and either green or blue winged teal
either that or mallard, pintail, gadwall, and black duck just like classic
Good enough for me, as long as they make the calling and stuff better than it is for them now
Imagine someone pretends to be a skunk ape for the missions of this map
Like the Chuchunya from Medved
Would be perfect
is that smell the skunk ape?
nah it’s just Fred in his orangutan costume
With gators, they can really make something cool. Bait sites that work as feed zones. But you have to refill them here and there.
With previous kills?
I was thinking just a bait you buy from the shop just to make it simple. Like a chicken bait or something.
I encountered a hacker in multiplayer he was moving very fast.
I took a clip, where should I report it?
More clues tomorrow right?
To their email
yes
Wait I dont get it, will we have the map first then the waterfowl rework??
map then waterfowl rework
Doubt it I think their doing waterfowl re work as they do the map so they can add them
Does that mean that we are going to have the very "stale"and simple duck hunting..
I want then og cotw ducks
I hate these waterfowl that we have currently other than the geese
Ducks =🤮
Even though I love duck hunting
Just the ducks that we have rn aren’t good at all
The ducks we have now are the only ducks that have ever been in the game?
and the only thing wrong with the ducks right now is that their AI is broken.
Yes
Devs already confirmed that the duck rework is coming early next year.
I dont want that on the new map though
Which isn't that far off.
I guess we are not getting retrievers neither..
whats bad about a new map?
that will be fixed later on
Either than that i dont really see anything bad about it
Whenever they do the rework, they can add in ducks later
But well i guess
But what do we think will be on the map then other than ducks and alligators?
some form of deer, most likely whitetail
I mean we have to hunt something more if they would delay the ducks
Maybe we could see beavers and squirrels but i doubt it but it would be cool
Maybe raccoon and small game like that
What I've been thinking about is
They will add ducks with mechanics that are slightly tweaked from the ones we already have
That get a bit closer to what they want but not quite
And then early next year the rework can just tweak/overhaul every duck species proper
ohhh that'd make sense
We will. In that videos they showed retrievers and pointers being worked with.
Did they?
Well I checked the playlist today and they updated it I feel we are getting that trailer tomorrow
we are
Yay
what time do u think
tomorrow
Around 10 am est, during their stream
Prolly 9 est like last time
Their stream is 10 am est every Tuesday.
Last week it wasnt iirc
When they showed fators
Timestamp of when the last stream announcement was posted
Taking from the Unix seconds there, that's <t:1637074460:F>
doesn;t it say that date on it
Ye
@opaque shard we could get American beavers, eastern turkey, definitely feral hogs.
We could always hope for beavers but I dont they would add two or more fairly "diffucult" animals to code than things like deer and hogs that we already have
Still vying for Nutria tbh
What
Nutria would be nice but don’t think there is too much demand for them tbh
Oh there isn't at all
I just think that they seem like something the devs would add LOL
Pretty much a beaver
i rly hope we get aoudad
... in Louisiana..?
nah obviously not louisiana
im just saying in the game in general
and if the map is based off of texas we might get aoudad
but it will most likely be louisiana
All hints are pointing toward Louisiana
ye ik
ive been here for all of em
thats exactly why i said
"most likely"
actually its pretty much guaranteed to be louisiana
but i hope we get aoudad in the game at some point
I am hoping for nutria as well
yeah those would be awesome to hunt
They had them on Gordon Ramsey's show and they actually look pretty fun to hunt 🤣
I’m so hyped for tomorrow
yo sameeeeee
Yep. Watch "making of the blood hound". Shows them working with hounds, pointers and retrievers.
My guess the first DLC (of 22) will be a retriever, while they develop the spring map and waterfowl rework, get the retrievers working properly in game then they'll release the "reworked" waterfowl which would probably the may/June or July/August (if youre on console) next major map DLC
