I can only see a dry riverbed on the reveal stream. It's not the ethic thing to do and the game has made it look like it is the way to do things so they are trying to make it better

And CotW tries hard to make players ethic hunters that's why there are harvest checks

The previous harvest checks that people hated so much were to make people be more ethical, you know, killing an animal fast, picking up all your wounded animals, etc. Ethic hunting measures have been part of the harvesting system from day one but birds were not really included because ducks are easier taken with the .22 on the water and if a goose goes to far it can be shot also with the .22 which is really unsafe

If you look at gamers accuracy statistics, using shotgun birdshot on small game is far more efficient than the .22. And way more fun imo.

The .22 can be effective out to 350 yards on small game. The shotguns aren't much good past 75 yards. Most of the ducks I've run into lately are at least 200m away from the shoreline. So sniping with the .22 is kind of the only option. Easiest way to pick off rabbits and turkeys is to snipe them past the distance where grass renders in.

Sure, the shotguns will connect more often if you're in range, but you don't get a whole lot of shots under 75 yards where they're actually useful. The .22 is semi-auto. If it takes me 2-3 shots to kill a rabbit, oh well. Ammo's cheap. I really hope they fix the ducks, because I really enjoyed using the shotgun for them.

Hmm yes and no. The .22 might be accurate long range in some peoples hands. On youtube there are too many misses with it. As for ducks i agree my mallards seem to spawn in the center of lakes. I grinded nearly 1000 hares to get a diamond, i could harvest all in a need zone with a shotgun easily, sometimes killing 3 in one shot. So for me shotgun was way more effective but i respect your opinion.

I dont want horses. Theyll be wonky and be less immersive than ATVs. They just need to fix the current atvs to make them more viable. Maybe add a speed toggle and increase tire traction.

The devs have issues with long hair in their shaders as well so those tails and manes won't look so good. The dogs they just added clearly have a lot of work put into them and an equal amount would need to be for the horses. It'd make more sense for them to continue with dogs and work on existing content like the ATV

(Also a lot of the longer hair on these animals is like a mesh that counts as "Flesh" when you hit them and slows the bullet down, like red deer.)

I really dont think horses are needed. The maps arent "that" big. The ATV is just a fun gimmick and kinda useful for unlocking outposts fast but thats about it.

only thing that could be useful is a small boat you could set up so you can create places where you can cross bodies of water.

Well so far everything they've done regarding the animals has been taking the easy way out at least in my opinion so I would like to see them at least put effort into something like that. So far they've excelled in map design, world building, stories, etc but pheasants are probably the first animal I've been impressed with, which I hope means they're heading in the right direction because they look amazing
