Only 2 rifles are decent for class 7-9. The .338 is in the base game. You can just grind for it.
The .300 is quite a bit better, but you have to buy the Yukon DLC to get it.

Yea COTW is total RNG. Not really realistic. Too ma y other things like "sight spotting" perk that makes the game total arcade. Diamonds or rare should be 1 a month or 2.

What? I don't use the sight spotting perk myself. That's for anybody who wants to make the game "easy" and hammer 3-5 animals at a time. I do turn tracks off cause thats too easy and for beginners. I like a RL hunt where the animals camo helps protect them. Makes it "fair chase" for the animal. I know most love the RNG aspect of the grind and can kill 100 WT in a day. Tjats way too arcade for me. No fun. Some can kill a herd of 5 in 3 s3conds cause they play "arcade" style of the game.

IRL you usually have a dog circling out a certain distance, and it's rare to be that surprised when a pheasant pops up. I actually don't like hunting them much IRL. Too much work for too little meat. The feathers are nice for tying trout flies, but I only need about one pheasant rump a decade to keep me supplied.

I don't think most players really care all that much about pheasants or any of the other small game. Small game isn't the core of COTW. If they did some kind of real observation, I'd guess about 98% of player hours are spent actively hunting class 2-9 animals, and probably 80% or more on class 4-9. I'll occasionally shoot a turkey or rabbit, but I almost never set out to actually hunt them instead of deer or elk or something.

yeah I honestly don't think another africa map would happen at this point in time. Maybe in the future, but rn a lot more species are getting conservation statuses updated and more than a few popular african animals are getting listed as endangered

If the map is asia or africa, I just hope there's more/new species to hunt, would be really nice. The only reason I don't hunt te awora a ton is because the animals are mostly same as other maps and I like hunting them elsewhere

Duck hunting's okay in game, but they rest on the water so they're alot more accessible. Turkeys and rabbits/hares in game aren't fun at all. They're almost never visible from the ground because of the excessively tall ground cover and I don't really ever go out of my way to hunt them. I don't care for bird hunting at all IRL. I'll hunt turkeys but they're big enough to make a couple nice dinners, and you don't need a dog.

I have a guess for you on what the new content might be. You said the other day about it coming out with the dog dlc.
I have been saying this in our community and taken a little heat from it. (Because so many players want to see Africa) I tie your comment in with TK game play with the black bucks.
So my guess would be Texas (even though players say no to another NA map) or the border with Mexico.
I do agree with you about another European map. I would very much like something in the Alps.

I took a look back at the player survey from earlier this year and going based off of that I think these are the options: Tanzania, Cameroon, Congo, Mexico, Mongolia, China and Japan. To be honest all of them sound like good options to me, either because of the species or the terrain. Of course it could be something completely different, I just wanted to bring it up.

just be realistic , most new animals will probably be modified animals we already have or just renamed e.g. puma -> mountain lion mouflon-> bighorn sheep boar-> feral pig jackrabbit-> european hare

maybe they could do a system where you have to pay in-game money to hunt an elephant or any other endangered species

eg 3k to hunt a female elephant, 5k to hunt a male elephant

if you shoot an elephant without paying for a license then it'll fail the harvest check
