It would be nice to know the full set list. I know they said they would announce the release date next week.
Full species list!
I’m hoping the great one is at least an antler species
I really hope it's the mule deer! It wouldn't make sense to do a new species that's only on 1 map.
Same
When will it come out?
I mean they did that with tahr
They will announce that next week Ryan
Thanks
Yeah
I want it to be elk
They did, but I don't think they would make the same mistake twice.
Same, I don't grind but a G1 Manitoban elk might change that
I just got my first GO red deer on Sunday
I’m excited to see what rare the beavers will have
Most likely leucistic albino and mela
Yeah
It won’t be anything exciting
Probably just repeat species. They would have shown off the new stuff in the trailer
Looks to be a very repetitive map + beavers and a reskinned elk
Maybe have one more new animal that’s not a bird
Yeah
Hoping for wolverines
There are 7 species still not known. Until they release those species, we can't say that it's repetitive. You can't expect every species to be new.
That would be sick
I don’t expect every species to be new, but I do expect there to be more than two for a whole new map…
Just wait to see the full list
Again, wait till the full list is released.
Already is more than two, wood bison, snow geese, wood duck, dusky grouse, and Manitoban elk
Especially when we already have most of the animals that live in Alberta in the game already
Then you can complain if they are all repeats!
Bar beavers, these are literally reskins
Wolverines would be Awsome
Not really
They are?
I'm hoping for grizzly and cairbou
If they chose the arctic we could have had beavers and polar bears wolverines etc
Keep in mind they are keeping it true to what you can really hunt there
Well it isn’t the arctic right now
Yes, but again they could have expanded the varity by choosing a more northern part of Canada
The arctic would have less variety actually due to the harsh climate, not as many animals can live there
Your opinion might change once the rest of the animal list is revealed. I feel like you are disappointed in the list as it is right now
Not remotely true. There’s a massive amount of animals there?
I’m keeping my mind open for sure
Polar bear, musk ox, dall sheep, wolves, as far as big game that's all there is
Why are you acting like this? Again that’s blatantly untrue?
Wolverines and badgers would be peak for this map
I'm not acting like anything? I'm just discussing a topic, name some more big game up in the arctic because I don't know anymore than what I named other than caribou
Just some deer ig

Then why why would you say that’s all there is, if you then admit that all that you know?
For reference, this is just one of the many Canadian articles suggestions new species
NEW Species;
• Northern Pintail (Class 1)
• American Wigeon (Class 1)
• Northern Shoveler (Class 1)
• Spruce Grouse (Class 1)
• Ruffed Grouse (Class 1)
• Snow Goose (Class 1)
• Ross's Goose (Class 1)
• Snowshoe Hare (Class 1)
• Arctic Fox (Class 2)
• Stone Sheep (Class 4)
• Dall Sheep? (Class 4)
• Polar Bear (Class 8 or 9)
• Musk Ox (Class 9)
• Walrus? (Class 9)
• Wood Bison (Class 9)
Every day this time we gonna get some either small or big
Musk ox are not in Alberta
theres like the smallest amount of them at the very top
Not where this reserve is located
Because I was talking about the diversity of big game, these are mostly small game
This is me saying they should have done a more northern Canadian reserve so that we can get more species. Keep up
Stop being so punchy and volatile
What 😂
it's probabaly teasing something about snow landing on animals furs just based on context clues which we already seemed to catch onto in the first proper reveal trailer
no polar bear or walrus , its confirmed
True, but without a new, larger lodge, it wouldn't make sense to add larger game.
I'm sure he knows, we are discussing ideas for a more arctic map
ops sorry
You're good
All of those species would fit in the current lodges?
It’s a polar bear not a giraffe
LOL
chat what deer do we think this is?
I do like the scenery though
They always smash the ball out of the park when it comes to the map itself
I was thinking it was elk at first but im leaning more into mule deer
I think they mean that there are so many big game species in the game already that you would have to have more than one lodge to display all of them
Mule deer
i’m hoping for black tail but that could just be wishful thinking
Hipo
real
I think sasika has more spaces than current species, could be wrong
You missed like 4 types of seal walrus, grizzly bears, like 3 types of caribou, and dall sheep
Massive amount of animals
Maybe, I don't use Saseka so I dunno
another blacktail map would be lovely but if they are already giving us mule deer (subspecies of blacktail) I dont think they would put blacktail with mulies sadly
Trust me there’s a ton of space!
#1375853270890840245 this is just the Canadian archipelago alone
Looked like mule deer in trailer
i mean they almost did it with SRP
Thats true
I know, but that's not any more diverse than Alberta, just different
I mean 👀
Yes… it is more diverse
Why is everyone so snippy at each other. Take a breather, drink a coffee and then come back.
How though? I'm talking about amount of species, not new and unique species
I dunno
Good thing we already have a subspecies of blacktail deer that actually live there on the map.
A lot of species on this map are repeats, we would get way more new ones with what Ayolim says
Actually thank you for reminding me I need my morning coffee be back in 5 minutes 😂
mine is brewing right now
Yeah I know that the arctic would bring a lot of cool new species, I am hoping down the road we get an arctic map, but it isn't more diverse up there
If you put it all together it’s like really close to 19, hell if you include small game it could easily be 30 species long!
That's all I'm sayin
True, I doubt they would add thirty species to a reserve though, also Askiy Ridge has 19 species
Do we think maybe they hinting at Mule deer G1 by showing us a clip with Deer again
It’s a hypothetical to show that an Arctic map has more variety than you’ve been lead to believe
alright coffee brewing
Could be, who knows
I know that an Arctic map would have a ton of variety, I've been hoping for an Arctic map for years, but Alberta has just as much diversity
My prediction for the rest of the animal list
• Grizzly Bear
• Pronghorn
• Wolverine
• Boreal Woodland Caribou or Barren Ground Carribou
• Snowshoe Hare
• Cougar
I don't even know if some of those are allowed to be hunted so don't quote me on anything
I’m kinda tired of pronghorn atm
I did it for funsies
I’ve got the class 3 fatigue
That doesn't matter anymore since they added tigers and snow leopards
coyotes gonna be on there is my guess
I think there will be one animal we are all tired of on the list to be revealed
I was thinking that or cougar I just went with cougar
why not both :D
Most of that looks right, apparently they opened up grizzly bear hunting recently.
Possibly!
since theres wolves they should do some sort of story with the Waheela
That is true
I just took some wild guesses
- a rework of said species
I tried to be inclusive
I was second guessing the squirrel thing. I doubt we get them, but there are a lot of squirrel species in Alberta and it would open up opportunities for a possible back fill on other maps which would be cool
I sill think yotes should be a class 3 animal
They posted a video on Twitter. It looks like just a deer species walking through the snow though. I’m pretty confident it’s just mule deer
Pretty sure they would have announced squirrels like beavers considering how many people want them added.
Unless they are saving it
They should
Or maybe they could be waiting to announce it
new short on youtube btw
Maybe, but i doubt it
This is my thinking, the new species would have been mentioned or shown in the trailer and info article already to generate hype
I would add a wolverine
They've hid new species before right up to the release trailer
God i hope we at least get wolverines
True
But again I’m not too hopeful, will just have to see
Wolverine could definitely take the place of Ground Hog or the Marmot
Might change it
We are getting a rabbit, come to terms with it 😂
Honestly there are so many animals it could be though. I want them all
Same
I wouldn't mind, I like hunting rabbits and hares
And since they are pretty rare there might be only few on the map
Think they would add timber wolves?
No I dont think so
Timber wolves are gray wolves, same species
we got gray wolves, don't think they add two wolves
Oh didn't know that
Yeah it's just different names
What about two elk species on the map?
I just realized there are no rabbit species revealed and I don't have one on my list
Might change squirrel out
Add Snowshoe hare
That would be wierd since roosevelt elk and rocky mountain elk don't inhabit the same range
sandhill cranes would be cool too
Aight I am done for real
Indeed they would
I ain't touching it no more
I reckon they’ll put another small predator in like a coyote, lynx or fox
What about the rockies and the manitoban elk?
Wolverine is considered small predator
That’s why I said ‘another’
Manitoban elk are a subspecies (barely) of rocky mountain elk so it wouldn't really make sense to put both as seperate species
Cougar can be replaced by coyote probably but I am keeping it
It could be canadian lynx
Interesting, tbf i didn't know manitoban elk were a thing until last week
Yeah fair, they really aren't that different from standard rocky mountain elk, they just inhabit a different region
Mule or white
mountain lion could use a remodel , id pay good money for a full remodel update
What do you think the chances are for all elks to get a model update?
Was that mountain lion?
of all animals
Looks like mule deer, too dark to be whitetail to me
that should be an intermediary update like relase a new remodel every month till the next map
With the absolute beauty of the Manitoban elk, I'd say we may get lucky
In this update 0% cause they only redo some species that will be on a new map, in a future maybe
I mean, they are all elk, so they could more or less share the new model, with some differences
Whenever a new map was released, some animals that would be there were remodeled, but never animals in other maps
yknow
a cougar remodel would be nice
I legit might replace all my elks in the lodge with the manitoban elk if they don't update them
Cougar don't look bad, there are others that need it more
I think the worst looking animal now is jackal
Those damn teeths on rosie💔
i know its not alberta but a backfill of roe on salwiezen would make my day
#redoroe
Roe deer is class 3, Salzwiesen is only for 1-2
What i can't come to terms with is this is like the 15th map and still no dall sheep
17th map
Muntjac are class 2 but doesnt live in germany
Just kill an albino bighorn 😂
(Joke by the way)
I literally have a big albino mouflon in place of a dall sheep in my NA lodge 😂
That works too lol
Cougars look weird
All the old felids do
They dont have felid eyes
Jackal are the worst
Yep
All the old canids and felids look awful
Coyotes, iberian wolves, jackals, cougars, lions, lynx
Animal ain't even out yet and vro already have it as pfp
Based tho
Hoping they'll all get the tiger, snow leopard and gray wolf treatment we saw recently
They nailed the snow leopards and tigers
Indeed, as an elk hunter I couldn't resist
And now they nailed the gray wolves
they are sooo pretty
They look like a new wolf species really
EW has done an amazing job with their new models and remodels
I mean, I know how hard 3D modelling is, so I'm not shitting on the artist..but...sometimes I still wonder why some animals look so...really bad
I have a Feeling Cougars will be on this map and with get a MASSIVE Remodel and Rework
The lions look horrific!
Yeah it's really hard to translate a living creature into a 3d animated model without it looking weird
We need dall sheep on Yukon aswell
@shy onyx can you send me a name of the animal that are c conform
Mouflon and ibex need reworks aswell along with chamois I find
They just don’t look convincing compared to the newer goat and sheep species we got
And mountain goats
the ibex are all horrid as well. Look how good the ibex looks in classic. Same with reindeer...
Moose, whitetail, mule deer, beaver, bear, wood duck, snow goose, wood bison, Manitoban elk, bighorn, and dusky grouse
you can always check pinned messages for animal lists btw

Oh
Very good
Im kinda losing hope ngl
I wonder what the new great one will be
I doubt beavers
But I’m thinking either bison, elk, mule deer or wolf
So far 6 new species and 6 returners
Should be Mule deer
It’s nice to finally have a map that isn’t Medved or Yukon with wolves on it
Yeah most likely mule deer
People have been asking for great one elk so it’s possible we could see a GO elk
Yeah
But idk if it would just be for the Manitoban elk
Yea
Mule deer most likely
If they did elk I’d hope it was for all elk or at least Manitoban and Rosie since they are more similar to each other than Rocky
Yeah
Manitoban elk are a subspecies of Rocky Mountain elk
Cus if either mule deer or Manitoban elk get a GO, Rocky/roosevelt elk would need a GO
Same would apply to mule deer since blacktails and mule deer are the same
I did not know that
But atm they have completely different models
Manitoban and Roosevelt look exactly a like
Blacktail and mule deer are not the same
I didn't either till last week
Hopefully snow goose
Dang it I thought it was viv and got all exited, then mad and then I noticed it's Janny
That's a pretty cool list btw
i think a GO bighorn could be cool
True
Agreed
Imagine an ungrindable GO
Not much they could really do fur wise without it looking ridiculous like tahr
but i think mulie is the most likely GO. which would also be cool, the rack potential is amazing
I remember when people were complaining about the pheasant flushing when Sal got released and the birds flushed instantly instead of taking a while, meanwhile I hardly saw a different
i kinda like the great ones that look more 'out there'. makes them more exciting to me
Bighorn GO is my dream now that they are remodeled
I prefer the more grounded furs for the great ones like the black bear
There’s a difference between “out there” and completely and utterly ridiculous.
The scarred fur type is my favorite for the tahr honestly
I don’t like the one they covered in flowers, looks too fantasy
Well it's a G1, they are supposed to be ridiculous and unnatural
It's the current list of what we know, it's pinned and made by @quaint lintel
i like all of them. they look like wizards
Wild guess new G1 will be both mule deer and grey wolf since this two are remodeled
Skull bear, fire bear, maggot bear, another skull bear, star bear super grounded
Not necessarily. Look at the whitetail, black bear, and moose (to an extent)
G1 Baden
Clearly that wasn’t the original vision
I will probably never see a GO, so I don't really care how outlandish and fantastical they look lol
the black bear definitely have some unnatural patterns though
Predators and cliffs will be grinding
The great one cherry blossom red fox looks so fake
The rest of the furs are fine for the fox except the bright pink one
I’m pretty sure it’s pink
I haven’t seen one in person
lmao
so you see why its a G1 then
I mean, the GO moose are far from realistic either. they are still cool
But not like bubblegum pink
Not necessarily, that typical rack is likely possible
And a few of those furtypes aren’t necessarily out of the question
The ashen moose is probably the most realistic along with the birch
i've never seen a deer with vines growing on its antlers but we got that too
The G1’s shouldn’t look like cod skins
I kind of hope they keep giving some animals great ones with scars on them to make em seem old
GOs are supposed to look magical, till this day I believe that conspiracy that whitetail GO should have had the fabled fur as a base but it was bugged and the community liked them so much still they never changed it
this is what i'm hoping for if we get GO lions. i want one super scarred-up
Is the fabled piebald still bugged?
I have never seen one
someone got one in this server in november
Far cry did really good legendary animals
they were interrogated, i think they passed the server sniff test
I think im hearing a capercaillie in the new YT short EW posted
or perhaps a falling tree
Still my conspiracy is that Wt were supposed to be like red deer eventually became
yeah, far cry primal's legendary animals are awesome. i loved looking for them in game
I hate the lack of fabled fur types though
fabled fur types would be cool but mostly i wish the GO whitetail model was bulkier
We have legendary animals the diamonds where once supposed to be World records, you can see it on wt and moose for example
I wish they’d give us some new racks, it’s been awhile
No capercaille in Alberta
But the rarity is way too common
hm okay
i once got a whitetail long time ago that had some fur type that said "Fabled" something but it wasnt a great one and it was on a multiplayer server
it probably was modded
they could do some pretty cool stuff with Grizzly GOs
It eats me up that I don’t have some of the OG racks in diamond for a few animals, I wish they’d add OG racks into diamond rotations
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAlberta
🤨
one of the furs could be like this maybe- a white bear with a reddish-orange streak down its back
i'd also love one with battle scars
or all of them
An absolutely massive scarred up hyper aggressive Grizzly Bear G1 would feed families
Two bear gos wouldn’t be the communities favorite unless the grizzly is like amazing
we just need remodels for them . before g1s 😄
why not both
I don’t think the black bear G1 aged well, just fluffier black bears with crazy patterns
great scar bear from far cry primal
just wanted to post that xD
How bout Mor'du?
one of my favourite in-game animals ever, it's so sick
yeah, doesn't look very healthy... ba dum tsss
that would be really cool, it'd be terrifying to hunt at night
Exactly, a night hunt in a blizzard
im not denying both , my brain just cant think of how to put sentences together rn 😭
xD
This feller shows up 😅
i do love how fat the black bear GO is
they call him "The GO that couldn't run away"
Heckin' chonker of a bear lmao
i'll never forget seeing a brown bear for the first time at the zoo
What is that
at first i thought it was just hiding in its cave because i couldn't see anything in the enclosure, just a big boulder and a tree
then i realized the boulder had claws
Beer
Mor'du, my G1 grizzly idea, also the bear from Brave
Weird bear
Looks cool
But that'll rip you to shreds in seconds
That's the point I guess it's a grizzly
Not if I have my .375
Saw a grizzly(first time) about a month ago at the St. Louis zoo. Took some nice pictures. So cute. so deadly xD
that brown bear was big enough that i started sweating. i can't imagine a grizzly
or a kodiak
the one I saw. was very close to the glass
The grizzly at the zoo I work at is a very chill lady
i've had a big fear of grizzlies ever since i saw this stupid movie as a kid
grizzly rage
it is terrible and cheap and not realistic at all
but i was young enough that it got me
saw polar bears for the first time ever too. What a big fckin creature
they just got them, they are still young..but holy moly
this guy
GO grizzly with a cloudy/scarred eye would be sick
i really hope they get confirmed for this map
they're such cool terrifying creatures, they have so much more potential than the grizzlies currently in game
even if they're not the new GO, which i don't expect them to be, i'd just like to see them get a remodel
10ga slug
I would be happy with just a remodel. They look awful U__U
I love the brown bears in COTW, they look so good.
Make the grizzlies look just a s good, pleaaaase
the brown bear models next to the grizzly models in a lodge are hilarious
i have a melanistic grizzly i keep in the very back out of shame
I just wish we would feel the same fear of bears as we have of tigers in game, I'd ask for the same fear as the fear I got in the Long Dark but that game has permaDeath
this is nightmare material...
agree, brown bears and grizzlies should be way more of a threat
mountain lions too
sometimes they do sneak up on people on trails
Mountain lions should stalk rarely and attack even more so
just recently saw a video of a dude getting attacked (and I think killed) by a mountain lion. Filmed it sneaking up on him..and he didn't use his gun.
I mean those animals usually would rather stay clear of you than attack you
stupid games and prices I guess
But it's super rare
oh for sure they're not as intent on hunting people as tigers are
but every now and then
if they can scare off bears in game i should be more afraid of them too
would still make for a better experience having a mountain lion sneak up on you once in a while. Keep is thrilling
maybe they could attack the more still/slow you are
if you're not making a lot of noise
Why is there not a new predator species? 🤔
not looking at them
this map is the perfect opportunity to rework them 🙏
yes
we don't know the full list yet
theres like
The long dark mentioned 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I would like bears to bluff charge and attack every once in a while not always run away
bluff charge would be sweet!
hopefully mountain lions are in there and they get a rework
yeah if you startle a bear and you're a few meters away it should do something about it
or near a feed site
Having two Bear species on one map is something I've been wanting to see for a minute lol
Feels like the right map to do it
whered you get that
I feel it would be a bit of overkill but a fully canadian map without Grizzly would be lacking
hunter website
from cotw website
ah
right there
exactly
anything else of note there?
Nope
So far my loadout is still looking like it'll be the .30-30, .45-70, and 10ga over and under.
You've got good taste
I hope they buff the .45-70 too
I have an Ol' Fashion load out
Ooh what is it?
You guys saw the new video they posted?
30-30, 45-70 and the cowboy revolver I forget the name
.45 lc
Irl it's the Colt Single Action Army
the short?
.308, 30-30, .22H, and crossbow
this is who we need grandpa bear
Ah the crossbow, you're a brave man 😅
It’s mega fun
Ye where the mulies? Come out of the forest
I bet but I suck with it so I just stick to the traditional bows
yea its pretty cool
maybe something spooked them 👀
Sasquatch probably
true
They seem to act similar now as they do in classic when a predator is close to them
hope thats the case
Here it is for those wondering what could those be running from it has to mean some sort of predator hopefully not the wolves we already know. (Also ignore the ending)
Do you have a hole that needs to be
If they were spooked it's 99% likely it was wolves
Yea or possibly moutian lion
I said ignore that!!!!!!
😂😂😂
Yess it would be nice to see them in snow
idk how much research they did on the area but in Alberta wolves take more elk while mountain lions prefer mule deer, so MAYBE that could be a hint
I don’t want more animals that will spook everything
No dude it would suck
😭
just rework them
Or maybe the mule deer is next go so they post them
That’s fair but then you have wolves and maybe lynx
True because grinding will be hell with everything spooking
Too many predators that are supposed to spook
no i mean rework the whole spook system
It wouldn’t be fun at all
Ik
and a cat rework ofc, to make them like tigers and leopards
I doubt they did that with everything else they added
That would fix the problem but there really can’t be a spook rework idk how they would do it
Yeah, I don’t know if bears will spook or not but wolves will definitely and then the possibility of mountain lines that a bunch of people seem to think will happen
It works fine now it’s just annoying
Sadly it happens while hunting and in nature in general, prey runs when a predator is nearby
Wolves do bears don’t unless they changed it and lynx do if added
No sh*t but that doesn’t mean they need to be spooking every 5 minutes with 3 predator species what kind of argument is that😭
Sorry I spaced out lol
No argument at all, I'm not arguing
Bad grammar I’m fixing it
just make it so they dont haul ass when a predator is 150m away, and just trot away when it gets close but isnt actually hunting them
Wolves do bears?
Kin ky
That would be nice make it a sight line or sound thing it is a little clunky
Idk I’d rather not have it in the game imo it’s kinda half baked
Like it’s not perfect and it’s not bad but it’s not great idk😭
They should make the predators eyes glow when flashlight or something is aimed at them, that would be scary as hell
nah its definitely better than like bears chilling with deer at a lake
I agree with that
They just need to section it better the game just isn’t really formatted well for a spook system
Animals aren't real
Agreed
As far as I know they do have sight line, the senses are real good
I just think the way zones kind of get congested around water and how it’s set times where how on med ved lynx spook for all of reindeer drink time pretty much. Because of the over lap
Predators shouldn't have a spook radius
They should spook like they spook from the hunter
That's why I don't hunt drink zones most of the time lol
what do yall think the animals are coming to the new map
The seven we don't know? I'm at least hoping grizzly with a remodel, other than that I really don't know
Yes
Wolverine
🐇
Mountain goat
Grizzly
🐦
🦆
What are your predictions?
Idk
When new rabbit and bird species are announced that's literally what I see
And snow bunny
This would actually be a cool species
If it works like in classic
Snow bunny's are SO pretty
100% cute and silly
do yall think they finally changed the mule deer faces/eyes
they look so cursed currently
looks like they did
like look how cute their faces look irl
Looks like a deer face to me
Vs the game💔
I mean that's the old racks but yeah they could look better
My beloved mule deer, so cursed
Even more cursed that's the big legacy rack
They where amazing when they were very small goblin deer with huge spiky racks
Nice casual flex btw
Idc the rack I’m talking about the faces
Like they look so ugly rn
way more adorable irl
Also tasty
hmm never tried deer ngl
Wild food is the best food
will keep that in mind one day
I'm assuming you don't hunt irl?
If not I recommend trying it
Yo any news since the trailer?
Imagine that they remodel all the most requested animals in the new update and they surprise us
Nope
We'll get more on Tuesday
Love the pfp btw
Thanks 😅
Ayyy sounds good, worth the wait
Last night I came up with a quote for launch 😂
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of beavers suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced"
nope just fishing haha
I will literally cry tears of joy
Oh cool! I haven't been fishing in too long
Just got a new pole, gotta take it out on a test run, gearing up with that good ol ugly stick
Buck knife on my side
I gotta get back to work, catch you guys later
Where you at, what ya catching
this would genuinely be so awesome
That would be very dope, yea.
I'm very much looking forward to the patch notes. Should be an interesting read.
i'm still super excited for the Manitoban Elk and Wood Bison, i'll have to go bother the Bighorn Sheep as well since it looks like they got updated iirc
One thing that makes me happy about the new map is that we're getting some more Elk hunting opportunities. Cause lets be honest. The Elk species are quite limited in hunting reserves currently.
i genuinely can't tell if mule deer got updated with what i've seen so far, but i'm holding out hope for them
Also, NGL, Im not too sure if we get Caribou on the Alberta map cause apparently they arent legally hunted there, but we will see.
Check the pinned messages.^^
They seem so, I don't think they would add them without a rework
tbf, you can't legally hunt water buffaloes in Nepal, but it's okay to do so on Sundarpatan
True.
There was a video posted on twitter but that’s about it
But tbh, if they do add them they need a rework desperately 😭
that's true, it would be weird to update bighorn sheep and grey wolves but not update mule deer and still include them, especially since they were also mentioned in those polls a while ago
Going off the pinned messages it appears that they will.
Roosevelt and rocky elk better get a remodel too
omggg yeah, the Manitoban Elk set a new standard for the other two elk subspecies we have
We need more Elk love in general.-
Just copy paste the elk body
Ive loved them ever since I got my 400+ Score Roosie in Classic. What an experience.
Keep different heads lol
What's the difference they made in classic? The antlers and the roosies are darker in color right?
Do that, same model different antlers and colors
the older elk models should still be remade though, you can see a huge quality difference between the roosevelt and rocky mountain ones, and even moreso with those two compared to the new one
I think so, yea.
Deffinetly, I feel like Elk hunting in CoTW just isnt what it could be in general.
the difference here is crazy
also yeah I agree. I've had that issue with a few different animals that tend to have distinct hunting vibes that aren't as present in-game
The Elk Justice is needed.
i wish elk hunting was more focused on scouting out herds in more hilly areas rather than just "go find where they drink"
I do that in game, I don't really ever hunt drink zones
yeah same, the only time I regularly go for drink zones is when I'm hunting moose in the central wetland areas on Yukon
.30-30 elk hunting too🙏 🙏
Uh not a great idea lol
im pretty sure 30-30 Winchester irl is fully capable of taking elk and black bears with good success
i know Huxley Hound in this server uses his for elk and bears
yeah
Not really elk, most hunters don't consider a .30-30 a good elk cartridge unless you are very close and the animal is perfectly broadside
it's why im hoping the new 30-30 (which shows it using a newer cartridge model) will be a stronger 3-7 round instead of being a 2-6 pea shooter
Elk have shaken off .30-06 rounds
also i wonder it that's a diamond rack in that picture
and this is probably like a small 4 or big 3
I'm guessing a three
i've seen online discussion saying it's fine for elk as long as you stay within reasonable shot distances and don't hit the shoulder blade (something you should be avoiding anyway with large game bc scapulas are tough)
Use new Diamond Elk brand whitening strips, for that Winning Smile!
i think it does somewhat depend on the load, bullet weight, etc., but everything i've heard and read suggests that it's a flexible and efficient cartridge
If it is, I'm just glad that the antlers look more or less proportional with the main body, compared to a RM where it's antlers look wayyy to big to be supported
That is true, I hunt with a Marlin 336 .30-30 but I use a an 8mm Mauser for elk
omg yeah, my guess is it's a diamond too, and the antlers look really good and also look like they make sense
where are you finding these
i saw it on their website, it's the header image for the link to the article about the new DLC
theHunter official website
That one is from their home page on their website
Good to know
another comparison of each elk subspecies :>
i can't get over how good the new one looks
the pose in that screenshot is a little odd for an elk but it still looks amazing
Yeah they have him posed like a red deer
idk if it would happen, but i'd love to see an animation rehaul for a lot of animals
like how you can kind of see how far the elk have come, in terms of quality, with each species
Imma be honest I freaked out when I first saw it, it looks so incredible
These are Manitoban elk right?
Yep! A subspecies of the Rocky Mountain elk
red deer and elk properly looking heavier/more weighty and less bouncy, smaller deer trotting like actual deer, mule deer stotting, etc.
me too! their modeling skills have gotten so much better over the years
Beautiful creatures, saw a few when I was up in Saskatchewan
i would love to see elk in person someday
Michigan has a pretty steady population! Almost completely Rocky Mountain if I’m not mistaken
Elk are my favorite North American game, I've hunted them my whole life and I am obsessed
Call me basic, but I’m a whitetail guy
Easier to process imo
Yeah those are rockies, a good thing to remember is Rocky Mountain elk live East of the Rockies, and Roosevelts live West of em
No such thing as basic, I can't wait to start hunting whitetail now that I live in Oklahoma, too used to elk and mule deer
Yeah, remember seeing a couple of roosevelt cows darting off while I went shooting up in the cascades
I have seen them in person
they are larger than you think
its imposing
Indeed
And I’d love to euromount one
the bulls, especially in rut, just have an aura of raw power as well
especially mid bugle
worth the hearing damage to hear it within 50 yards imo
the way it echoes off the valley walls is something else
i've seen a full-body Moose display at a Cabela's where I used to live and it's genuinely startling just how big they are, so I can imagine there would be a similar vibe with elk
Elk bugle is my second favorite, nothing beats a red deer stag’s grunt
like, you don't truly realize how big they are until they're right there in-person (even specimens like the one i mentioned that aren't alive)
Oh yeah, I've had a herd of about thirty elk run not a stones toss next to me and it was insane
it's absurd, especially since most mounts in the US are Shiras Moose
which are the smallest of the 4 subspecies in North America lmao
I was about to say that lol
Told this story before in chat, but we actually have a lone bull roosevelt living on one of the islands here in Washington State, it got there by apparently swimming across an entire bay by mistake
idk which moose subspecies this one was, i think they just dubbed it "moose" lol
Yukon bulls from Alaska are basically demigods
Oh yeah I heard this one yesterday lol
oh god yeah, isn't the Alaska Moose the largest of the North American subspecies?
Hoping for moose subspecies some day 🙏
Sure is
its the largest of them all, the bulls average 1300lbs
Moose do make elk look tiny comparatively
i would love this tbh
which is twice the weight of the average rocky mtn elk bull
Moose subspecies would go hard
Talking a 1200lb animal compared to a 700-800lb animal
larger Yukon bulls usually have around 1500 to 1600lbs as well
Probably give some fur variations depending on both the subspecies and region too
Im honestly hoping roosevelt get the manitoban model but the antlers are different
typically about 6'8" to 7'0" at the shoulder
with GOs and everything I see why they dont, keep em all impressive rather than have some of them be smaller but I can dream
and the world record is an alaskan bull
New ammo? Hope so, I've been dreaming of a 3-7 .30-30 for like 5 years now
I believe that we will get a dev diary tomorrow or the day after, assuming they do the same things they did last year(which so far they have)
gib new ammo pls
I'd rather run into a grizzly 😂
2-6 peashooter take it or leave it
tank with antlers lmao
Id imagine wed get more news on tuesday, then the release the tuesday after that
i feel like you could still give each one the same GO variants at least, though I could imagine it might be tricky implementing this change with the current moose we have
We get the release date next week 🙂
You European?
Could probably take a tank to be honest
No
no hes just expressing doubt EW would ever fix the .30-30
^^^
since theyve dogged it for so long
Nothing is wrong with the .30-30
Some gun has to be the worst gun
they made a cartridge commonly used on black bear ethical for foxes
i'm really hoping for this too, I want a good lever action rifle that looks clean while also not feeling genuinely broken (looking at you Moradi and your "heart shot through the entire body length of a moose")
its just ridiculously underpowered
if I went out with my Henry and shot a fox I'd get two halves of a fox
30-30 is ass
*right now at least
Yeah I know, it's a long shot but Way of the Hunter did it
I love WOTH's .30-30
DO NOT slander my beloved 44(I am 44 crutch for fleeing shots on snowies)
i use it to hunt elk lmao
Same
I call them inside 50 yards then pop em in the heart
The .243 used to be better in Woth
idk if i'm just doing something wrong but my experiences with WotH's 30-30 haven't been good on stuff like whitetails, elk, etc.
Then they buffed the 30-30
Potentially got something like these too if they got the Pic right
oh Ive hammered muleys with it out to 250 yards
i keep my shots within 100ish meters (ideally closer), I aim to avoid hitting bone, but then i'm tracking stuff for ages
4 expansion 😭
what ammo are you using in WOTH?
it has 3 types now
i've tried both of the newer ones
Which ammo are you using?
4 expansion on a cartridge known for 1.7 to 2.0x expansion IRL
yes
makes much sense
kill me please
damn, thats odd af
my experience with the new ones is they slam deer sized animals and lower
ive used it to effect on bear and elk too
Applied to a style of bullet known for doing a perfect bit of both penetration and expansion.
it's super weird though bc it flattens sika deer but then whitetails just take off
i can load it up and try again though, maybe record my shots and have screenshots of the bullet screen
clearly warrants 4 expansion in-game /sarcasm
how .45-70 and .30-30 have been treated in this game make me sad
i know omggg
last time i checked .45-70 Govt is an absolute powerhouse on large game, but it struggles to do exactly that in-game
y e a h
modern bullets expand between 1.6 and 2.3x for .45-70 tmk, within optimal impact velocity at least
which means if there's enough animal and the bullet hits at the right speed
the wound channel
.45-70 badly needs a rework, new ammo, and it should use the regular scopes
can be more than an inch wide
a crossbow penetrates more than the ingame 45-70
deadass has the same reciever as the Moradi but has to use that shite side mount scope thatd wreck a Marlin action IRL
bows, the crossbow, and the +pen .44 magnum when shot from the Moradi all do crazy penetration
but 30-30 is a close-range varmint round and .45-70 is "just enough" for red deer lol
The Moradi and the new rifle both you mean
oui
if I shot a racoon with a .30-30 there wouldnt be much raccoon left IRL
y e a h
if I have to I will literally wait til furbearer season
and cap one while out after rabbits
Speaking of raccoons
I dumped a tube of whole 6 shells of buckshot into one and it didn’t even die.
tungsten raccoon
Think if I made a block of ballistics gel and shot it on video that would make them reconsider?
Honestly, it might be worth it
if possible do a comparison with some varmint rounds since they made the base game one 2-6 lol
i can find a video of someone dropping a cow elk with 170gr loads at 310 yards with a .30-30 to add to the evidence mountain
ironically enough if i remember it right from when I last watched it the guy was in Alberta
It’s probably pure laziness at this point.
How are they lazy they've got a million things to work on lol
ballistics gel comparisons definitely lend to the difference
most .22 cal cartridges dont get base 14" in gel
.30-30 across all hunting loads averages 20"
higher end is 25 to 27
namely federal hammerdowns and heavier rounds like 170 and 190gr bullets
take a bunch of pine boards or similar wood and set them bastards up in a rack so theyre in a row and see how many they all go through
Just make a big block of jello
a million things that don’t involve improving the base game? The thing that should keep a steady flow of new players?
Could do a ballistic buffalotype thing. A six foot block of wet newspapers
they have kinda intentionally ignored the base game in a lot of ways it seems
yeahhh
could also get a few cow femurs and shoot one with each cartridge
there's a puny arrangement of weapons to use in the base game, and their age definitely shows (do NOT look at the iron sights of the Coachmate)
and watch as the .22 ones cause a sprial fracture with a hole while .30-30 blows a whole section out
It's not encouraging that it specifically says "small to medium game"
demonstrate the energy difference
Most people care more about getting new things than improving old things, they can't make everyone happy, trust me I wish they could improve the base game more
theyre never gonna respect .30-30 I swear
the least they could do is give .30-30 and .45-70 some justice
Hell, I’ve been seeing a lot of European’s start to understand the power in 30-30 as of late.
It puts quite the wallop on roe deer
I wonder were the deers running from something in the new video
yeah I'm really worried about this ngl
unless "small game" means roe deer and axis deer lol
ig on the bright side the article has (i think) been editedto specify whitetail deer and gray wolf
Part of it is European bias against it because they don't see it often enough to know how strong it is. I have a neighbor from Germany who literally lectured me about it being "unfit for game as large as whitetail deer "
that's so insane lol
30-30 Winchester kinda got its reputation here in the states as the deer cartridge for a reason
and was made famous as a capable brush gun thanks to its use by moose and bear hunters
Insane is the look on his face when he watched me kill an elk with it
if it was too weak for whitetails, it wouldn't have become one of the most widely used deer cartridges in US history
this is so spiteful and I love it
I applaud you sir
Oh I fully stole his kill when I did it, he was watching through the scope
HAH
HOLY CRAP THATS FANTASTIC
Don't make fun of the rifle that fed my family for almost 20 years
He said he saw the bullet hit and a huge spout of blood shot out both sides, I got a full pass through that took out a rib and the whole time we were cleaning it he kept going back and looking at the rib like he couldn't believe it
.30-30 Supremacy
Way too many people look at the numbers on ballistics sheets and forget what they actually mean in the field
ooo yeah that's a huge thing
You can look at the numbers all you want, but actual tangible results are a different thing
In talking with my neighbor he told me he never saw a .30-30 cartridge before he came to America. Apparently it's just not a thing in most places and yet his family joked about "cowboy guns being made for tv"
😐
:/
does this make you want to sit in the corner and roll up into a ball and just be sad and disappointed
cause thats how it makes me feel
30 Cal rounds are generally considered an American or North American thing, right?
This map looks amazing dude
no Europe has plent of its own, lots of old Mauser and Enfield cartridges
its just .30-30 specifically gets bullied
im american and dont know guns .30-30 means nothing to me 🗣️
When’s the reserve coming out
dunno, no release date yet, but likely June 17
In the near future
Mannn I can’t wait. It looks phenomenal.
Especially the beavers man they look incredible
july 32nd
Like seriously they look so adorable
Much as I love it I'm not gonna say the .30-30 is a perfect all rounder, there's several animals I wouldn't think of using on just here in the US. But for elk? It's worked just fine so far. Black bear? I have taken down about a dozen myself. I'm not worried about taking on wild boar or red deer either.
Did the mule deer get a remodel as well?
Cuz they look so much different in the trailer
potentially
yup, bighorns too
It is appearing so
seems so joe
bighorns look so good😫
that manitoban elk looks fire as well
But the gray wolves man
if they added mountain lions they def getting a remodel and it finna look so good too
hunter's best friend as far as cartridges go in the US imo
Mule deer look good as well
it works well
But the US invented the basic .30 Calibers right? That's what I was more so getting at.
This might be my new favorite map once it comes out
sorta, most popular .30 cals are US origin but Europe had several of its own between 1880 and 1950
It already is my favorite
Bro the beavers look so adorable omg
you have gunther in your description but not our tribal chief🤨
Sorry
But anyways
The beavers look so damn cute
The wood ducks look so nice bro
I hope they get added to other maps like silver ridge peaks
Here’s hoping for beavers on Layton
Silver Ridge Peaks is probably the most beautiful map in the game
I’d much prefer Mississippi
I don't think this map will defeat sundar Patan unless we get 3 species of mountain sheep or goats
SRP isn’t really built for ducks
Gotcha. We're on the same page then.
Anything beats sundar
Sundar is actually ass
Askiy Ridge >
(sorry that i didn't respond)
Nice bait
Not bait
Seeing the beaver lodged and beaver dams I wonder if the beavers will act like the euro rabbits where they have a spot they spawn at but come out at specific times
Or they might have their own ai thing
In your guys opinion, what is the best trurac in the game? For me it’s Mule Deer.
Genuinely
Moose
def not bait
Moose
Does tru horns count?
Moose is 2 for me
moose
It isn't bait
At this point it's bullying a senior citizen for .30-30, it's so old it was originally meant for black powder cartridges.
Here's the thing it's so old and still being made because it WORKS
Mule deer racks🤢
Sundar has the best mechanics of every map and the most exiting roster of animals
Moose are the one animal that actually has good racks, everything else sucks
that’s what i said😭
I don't like Sundar.
Its bias cuz Mule Deer is my favorite deer LMAO
thats where its name comes from
the original designation was .30-30-160
a .30 cal bullet
30gr of powder
The red deer tru racks for your average stags really don’t look good
160gr bullet
Mule deer won the poll for new racks
Exciting? I disagree
why do they bully the old
What’s the most underrated reserve rn
Yeah but we haven’t seen em yet
Def hirsch
The USSR
Mississippi
What is your favorite map i bet it's bland
Mississippi or NEM
sundar is overrated but it’s not the worst by any means
Hirsch or rev
They kind of needed it honestly
They don’t look good for a lot of the regular bucks
I find only the level fives to look good
Mississippi
dueling tigers with the .375 is fun business
Top 10
For me it’s probably Mississippi
That's fair ngl, both are great
Blandest maps with no mechanics lol
Yukon is a personal favorite
Hell naw
that’s extremely vague
Yukon is easily third
I think it was more so used out of convenience and necessity than anything else though.
It's hard to find verifiable numbers surrounding whether the dirty 30 or the .06 is actually the #1 deer gun.
Bro Yukon Valley is INCREDIBLE
YUKON MENTIONED!!!
even the 5s ugo
HIRSCH HAS SHEDS
Beware the old man in a profession where men die young
*looking at you wssm cartridges *
YEAHHHHHH
Especially the story mission man
My only complaint of Yukon valley is the lack of small game species
Bland again, snow mechanic is nice
Parque and Hirsch is my favs lmao
it has a singular shed
We dont even have rabbits or hares on Yukon
So does Layton, SRP, Vurhonga
100%, desperately needs it
Let alone ptarmigans and other duck species
The map has become rather outdated but will always have a place in my heart
No way! Snow. Bud, midved and Yukon have that too
Bman detected, opinion rejected
parqye y yukon para mi
Yukon however is arguably the worst for Canada goose hunts
Hirsch is so good
meanie botch
No habla espanol por favor
The Savanna map?
hirsch is overrated, and nobody likes it. i hope that says sum
We were talking about Yukon bud, and medved doesn't have the snow building mechanic
hablas*
This is just wrong
lol
Como se llama
No
no
como se alpaca
So what? It's still snow.
Snow sucks anyway
👎
Yukon Valley & Silver Ridge Peaks are probably my 2 favorite reserves in the game
Medved overrated as hell tho
You are the one that said Yukon is number 3 bud
map i killed both my lvl 5s on
Vurhonga is a mixed map imo
There’s a lot of good but there’s some things that just don’t make me want to come back for long
The species list is rather lacking, I like the wide open spaces but it feels dated nowadays texture wise
The models for practically all the animals really haven’t aged well
And srp
Yeah, cause it is.
Srp definitely is
Why?
But snow isn't why I like it
It really needs more small game
Capercaillie is literally the only class 1 species on the map
Hell no bro I love SRP
Rare Bebal L
SRP is fourth
