Good man. Sucks that that happened though. I wish some states had ways of keeping state released animals off of property. I live in the city now but until around 2 weeks ago I was still in the mountains with wolves on my literal doorstep.

Kept harassing my dogs. When I had chickens I had what I suspect was a wolf steal it, although it could’ve been literally anything from a cat to a black bear.

Here we basically started a war with them. Hell, I don’t think you even get fined anymore if you kill one without a tag so long as you actually use the animal. We’re just trying to get the population down and disperse them out across the state instead of clumped up in certain areas.

I love living with Wolves. I see them pretty often while hunting. They’re a fellow hunter, out to survive. When I’m out there, I’m on their turf, not mine. I don’t get the hate around wolves, since they’re simply out to survive. My only gripe is that they’re so clumped in certain areas (because of human meddling) that they’re actually starting to be an issue.

I always keep a tag on me but I won’t fill it until I find a Black Wolf. Never seen one in the wild. I’ve killed 3 wolves irl, but that was way back in 2013, 2014, and 2015. I don’t even have pictures of them.

Every hunter has their personal code. I have mine, my dad has his, all my buddies have them. Personally I always try and take the oldest cow that isn’t the lead cow (cows between 7 - 10 years old normally). This way the herd doesn’t lose track of their grounds, and I’m taking a cow that’s already too old to really breed anymore.

I have a tradition of praying over every animal after I kill it. Every animal I’ve done this with, from Quail to Wolves to Elk. Even with an invasive like a Hog or an Aoudad I’d pray, because they didn’t choose to be here, they were simply set loose and took advantage of the places they were put in.
