Have you tried refreshing Steam (I take it you are on PC). You remove everything except the steamapps folder and the Steam.exe.. Some keep the userdata as it can hold saves. I never have though. @grizzled basin

This game usually uses the average weight you find animals at. Sambar get up to 500kg+ and would be class 8 like elk but those are very rare individuals, but they use the average weight of 270-350kg
