As someone who has had a carpet python that's escaped a few times, Yes It is terrifying to feel a snake at your feet In the middle of the night.

or getting up in the night flicking the light on and being two feet away from a massive snake thats hissing. 😳

Poor girl ain't In her prime anymore and I need a more consistent food source she's on fish but I wonder if she would eat birds instead.

If they weren't shot with birdshot I'd give her a jay (corvid) there shot during pheasant shoots. 🤣

@obsidian shard we've had this before where one kittin of the litter wont grow until its a 5th of the size of its siblings.. through if they dont die in the first 2 weeks they can be propted to suddenly start growing if you privatly feed them high protein foods like wet meat made of 80% tuna extra.. it can trigger them to finaly go into a growth spurt and rapidly catch up, we've had two cats like this grow up into beutiful adults.. with the same size of their adult siblings and sold.. one girl still was smaller but reached adulthood and became quite the charmer and made her new family very happy.. theirs hope for them yet, you just need to make sure they get alot of private fed proteins to stimulate growth..

We didn’t have ours since babies and they’re already almost adults. They get fed high protein wet food and high quality dry but still no growth. They were very emaciated and wormy when we rescued them though if that plays a part

Possably, though we have had some realy small cats as adults before.. runts that little life small but grow realy big hearts.. we once had a female so small you could have mistaken her for a squirral when sat on your shoulder but she was lovely with a gold heart 5 times bigger than most cats..

My right hand man and my dearly missed best friend. He is fortunately still alive and hopefully a very happy pupper. extenuating circumstances and a trip to jail meant I had to give him up. well i try to be home more often now.. and i give him a bollocking when he does naughty which hes a super smart dog and knows when he's done wrong before i say even a word.. and i give him no treats or snuggles all day till bedtime and give him the i'm mad at you shun so he knows i'm upset with him.. that usualy works.. and he's stopped ruining my door wall now he's used to being home late.. and i taught him to stop eating my wood funiture by treating him with sticks form the forest and chewing him out with the chewing till he learnt the difference.. not sure what made him eat my bag or the pillow.. still trying to fix the carpet where he tore it up.. luckly he stopped targeting it.. Corgi's are a kind of welsh collie.. and like them get very naughty when bored or lonley so i try to keep bringing him toys and chews to keep him busy when i'm out working..

A trainer I worked with for my dog (aussie x husky) explained to me, in the most basic way “if you can wear out their mind, you wear them out. Make your dog think and it takes more out of them than hard play or long walks.”

The pillow/bag chewing might have just been an anxiety spike, because they bond so hard to their people - and because they all but froth when they don’t have a “job” so to speak.

Have you ever tried a front hooking harness on him, if the pulling bothers you?
Usually clipping to a collar or a back clip-harness gives them a sensation of “I gotta haul this!” And incorrectly directs that as a job of sorts

Front clipping harnesses alleviate the sensation, and if the dog still tries to yank, if used proper, the harness will redirect the momentum and kinda snap the thought process out of that track if you will

my Corgi can do a scoobi and jump high off the floor into my standing arms.. with his wee little leggs.. mind he's a huge corgi everyones telling me so.. on his back leggs he can put his head onto the table.. and he has a back harniss but its got clips at front and on his back.. man he's strong he could toe a truck and yes he pulls hard its diffeicult to get him to slow down and corgi's are bred to be more stubborn then the cows they herd..

I’d say try the front clip like once a day kind of thing. If he gets a zoomie and yeets himself a different direction enough times I bet he’d learn.

I was blessed my dog adjusts her walk to whomever is on the lead - Manthing is super fit and will scamper right on with her.
Meanwhile I’ve basically got a shit knee that clicks increasingly worse the longer I’m out and about but she doesn’t yank me all that much

(She doesn’t yank much in general, she just caters more to me and will more often do zoomies with Manthing)

thanks i will try.. also his more resent behavie at night has become a problem.. now i'm at home more i'm sleeping and dozen with him again rather at work.. and now even in the quite hours of 3am he'll suddenly start barking at the slighest sound outside even from the wind.. then run to me for comfort as if he's trying to protected me while i'm sleeping.. or trying too.. its hard some nights to make him quiet till he falls asleep on me.. and he gets very worried during storms which are common here..

Alert barking is common, and corgis - bred for that big task of cattle - need to be vocal to move those 700-1100kg lumps of beef.

Likely, if you’re more countryside, he heard something outside the house and is trying to alert the fam to the danger

Keeonahs similar - she will alert me to anything and everything that’s abnormal. People talking? “MOM, INVADERS.”

People walking in the stairwell or the apartment upstairs?
“MOM, INVADERS IN THE HOUSE.”

Doesn’t matter the time of day, she’s telling me about it.
Generally I take her to the source of the sounds direction, and look with her, pat her and tell her “good job, it’s okay”

She’s big brain enough to understand her message was heard, and generally settles pretty quickly

I don’t generally advocate using calming things on animals if it can be worked through - but Keeonah doesn’t appreciate fireworks or storms all that much - and the house I was in was shite as far as sound dampening.

And this product is what I used when it was unbearable for her

She’s in the “two tablet” weight group, but I’d start her with a half a tablet and work her up towards the full dose as needed

Seemed to work - and more often than not we didn’t need to go beyond 1 whole one

@main topaz btw i have yet to thank you, i tryed out what you said about cliping Conkers harness from the front and wow just wow, it took him less than 5 minites to stop pulling and now walks with much more doggy calm and pauses on his leash.. and just like you said if he pulls the harness twists hime round and stops him in his tracks,, he's a super smart dog and leanrt instantly.. thank you so much for helping me with that.. just need his night barks to calm down, through i did discover last night a rat has moved into my compost heep next to my back down near the hutches so it might be setting him off along with the cat i chased out of my garden.. looks like i'll have to dig out my warffern again.. 😅

Meet Blue the newest member to our family, he's an indonesian blue tongue skink and we brought him home today from a rescue center. He is a beautiful healthy boy but needs some one on one work to get him used to being handled as he's a bit hissy at the moment. Gonna be leaving him alone for two weeks before we start handling him to allow him to settle in first and adjust to his new environment. He's got some nasty little claws on him though especially when he wiggles but hopefully with some 1 on 1 handling he should become used to being picked up and won't wiggle as much.

Sebrights would be fine, Polish would be fine, game fowl should also be fine and iirc Orust are fairly hardy considering they’re a landrace and kinda just lived feral for a while haha

If overheating is a concern, provide shade with dirt to scratch in and make cool beds, and consider a misting system piped to your spicket

That way the water is cool when it goes for them

We don’t want them drenched, but cool digging soil is always a blast

As far as Polish go… I had to give BachBachBach a Mohawk all the time so she could see more clearly, and so the other birds would leave her be

Towards the end, I started using hair clips to restrain the feathers so she didn’t look mutilated and could keep her poufy up do

I do believe it’s a cleanliness/bacterial thing

So ducks eat by grabbing food and swishing their beak in their water

And the food goes LITERALLY everywhere

They also splash a lot to keep nose and eyes clean

Some dogs have bad ear carriage and need to be taped to encourage ear standing. I’ve seen it done with both corgi breeds. There’s tons of videos and tons of different ways on how to do it. And it can take anywhere from 8-24 weeks for the ears to fully develop upright.

German shepherds can go until 8 months before their ears stand :). You’re also not supposed to touch the ears to keep them from being damaged as well

Not standing is a sign of again, poor ear carriage. Dutch shepherds have a set standard of ear carriage. I work mainly with conformation animals but even in working animals you don’t want poor conformation. Imo. But I’m not gonna tell you how to breed as long as your dogs are healthy I suppose.

I've personally seen it both ways, my ex manager at work taped all hers, and the pups with the floppiest ears still ended up standing, albeit a little weaker than the ones who were upright early. So I mean, is it wrong? Idk.

I prefer males over females in general. As I’ve always been told, females love you. Males are in love with you. And I prefer Velcro dogs. Females tend to be more independent which can be good for showing and competing though. I’ll likely end up with a female as Dobermans are prone to same sex aggression and I don’t wanna cause any issues with Levi.

I think it depends on the breed? For example my two breeds of interest are naturally needy. Dobermans and poodles. Males are always more clingy in females in both these breeds. But then I have a mixed breed female who is literally up your butt no matter what you do.

A lot of herding breeds tend of be pretty owner attached. So that’s probably why. I’d give herding breeds a 6/10 on the cling scale. But different dogs will rate higher. Levi rates a freaking 15/10 🤦🏼‍♀️

I can only imagine. I brush Ansel regularly, but he's a short (but dense) haired lad. Thankfully. I want a Maine coon but I want to be prepared for it. I already brush my dog regularly, as shes a husky australian shepherd - and she tolerates it well, and I lucked out with Ansel being so chill all of the time.
I'd feel terrible if brushing made him that upset. But in turn, I'm sure it's uncomfortable if the long fur is snarled up and then tugged to loosen the knots.

yeah persions have periods of mass malting which causes their unercoat to mat up agaisnt their guard hairs that spot it falling away.. which if your not experienced or ready will take new owners by surprise and cause them all sorts of cat hair proplems which you need to be on the ball first thing and brutaly brush them and pull out the thick underlayer and bring scissers to help take the harder lumps out a task that often takes x2 people one to hold with thorn proof cloths and thick woollen sleves "me" and mum to start getting peronal with the heavy metal brush as if we were shaven a realy pissed off sheep.. and if it gets to bad its up to a full shave and let their fur start from scratch.. its hard work and with some persions you need a make shift body armour suit to pull their hair with any comb.. so people shouldn't judge until they get into teh busnness themselves or ownershift.. persions are big cats with alot of character.. but all persions get mad as hell when its time to brush.. only one cat i owned loved it after i got him into the cuddel time habbit of groom him while i tickled him.. 1st time i owned him led to the vet haven to help shave him after i lost a metal comb in his fur.. 😆 but if you think combing is hard.. try bathing one its dam right dangeroues.. speacily when they get turds or diarhia in their fur.. then i have to wrap them in a towel for both our safty then put them in a bath and use my handle to tease and wash it all out.. always come back saoking wet often with a fresh claw cuts up my arm or hand.. and once my face..

oh heck yeah, by turkeys and chickens are the same way, by far the best is laying down on the cool grass and having a bunch of quail, pheasants, ducks, chickens and turkeys come lay on/around you and bask in the sun, i had this male quail, his name was bubbles, i would on occasion bring him to school cause he would just ride on my shoulder and i used a modified bird diaper/flight harness for parrots for him to keep him from poopin on stuff lol
