they do actually make great pets

sorta like a cat, dog, and weasel merged into one but with much more playfulness than violence

dont need bathed nearly as often either due to how well they groom themselves and tend to avoid dirt and grime

usually about once every 6 mos from what ive heard from folks who own them

plus the babies are adorable af

they waddle around making little race car noises

Mine live outside so I have to bathe them more often bc our red clay mud stains them.

I wish I could get an albino but in order to have ones from breeders we need 2 different permits. I'm in the process of getting exhibitors permits but I need a separate import permit to get skunks from a breeder (my skunks are orphans from the state which are legally allowed to be kept without permits as long as county law doesn't say otherwise)

My state is weird tho. Like legally nobody but me or my family can even pet the skunks. And if they're in public they need to be in a cage and not just on a leash

Same rule applies to all non herbivorous animals besides dogs cats and ferrets tho

If u dont keep the sand in the cage (its not recommended to do that) it will get it everywhere. But u can do it like that: open the cage door and let it bathe. Once it's done leave it for an hour so it has time to shake it off and then let it out.

This is 90% why Keeonah has a hoodie and a sweater now that I am living somewhere with heating...

Where I lived back in the US was coastal location (like 45min drive from the beach) and the house had wood heating.. but it didnt reach my room - perpetually cold in there. My bedroom windows also did not seal/close (had to screw the top half to the frame or else it'd fall) so it was always a little breezy and if it was -0 outside, it was almost 0 in my room.
Even though Keeonah is a Husky x Aussie cross, she was noticeably cold in the deep winter after not really having any heat unless she went into the main room at the other end of the house

so we got a hoodie/cableknit dog sweater as a precaution.

Now that we live where central heating is in play, I just stuff them on her when its raining and we go out for a walk. Makes it easier than having to try and dry her
