He eded up in my trainers herd and learned some some manners. My wife and I are the first people to actually work with him. He is so forgiving and has such a good brain. Don’t get me wrong, he is still a neurotic pony, that that’s not his fault and we’re here to help.

My “reintroduction” to horses as an adult versus when I was a kid has been very positive and safety oriented. 99% of the safety part is reading the horses and how they feel about what’s going on. That was not something we did when I was ranch handing in Wyoming.

I grew up in Casper and most everyone my family knew were ranchers. Super cool way to grow up and at the same time, I never pictured myself as an adult with horses 😅

But I moved to Alaska with my wife (she’s from here) and she was into show riding when she was younger. After a few years of living here, we decided to do the horse thing as adults.

Ranger was an attempt at me raising bobwhites, the plan was to raise them for meat alongside the coturnix. He ended up being the only one to survive his hatch

The one you saw is named little man, got him from a breeder who didn't take the best care of them (lice and RI). His siblings didn't make it the first few days because of the problems but he grew up to be a great roo. Takes care of the hens but he's kinda mean when he wants to be 😭 I don't mind it but it puts my grandfather off.

We also had some smaller roos that we got to be his girls but we took the risk with straight runs and missed the mark 😭😭 they had to go unfortunately

I spent 8 years managing pet stores. My favorite thing in the world was denying the sales of animals because people didn’t understand their full care needs.

I worked for Petco and I also loved fighting corporate over animal care and denying sales. I would perpetually keep certain animals out of stock (slider turtles and hermit crabs to name a couple) and they would get mad about my low live-animal sales. I refused to order wild-caught saltwater fish. “but but muh profits…”

I always gave them the choice to bring them back if they were concerned they werent gonna make it for any and all reasons. Def big stacking the deck in my favor - but I'm not gonna let you abuse and be mad about an expensive fish loss when the lesson can be taught with a feeder fish

There’s someone here who has a huge herd of unhandled ponies and Franklin just didn’t do well with them. He had a hard time fitting into the herd. He was a bit of a bully. He ended up at a friend’s place and her full size horses quickly taught him how to coexist in a herd. We really liked him so she sold him to us. Less rehab, more integration into life

Friggen Goblin Energy... All that fresh churned dirt in the den is from her burrowing around for 5-6 minutes. Realized I lost sight of her in the dog park about five minutes into her snuffling around so I went to look for her, and then of course it was nice and cool so she didnt want to come out at first haha

Mine is an avid chewer and if i give him something with harder plastic, even if that employee said it's "Doggy safe", he'll end up with bleeding gums. Can't do too soft because he'll eat the toy or ruin it forever.
