Im not sure if theres any code that creates a penalty for not picking them up but i know if the wildebeest herd freezes the game will crash if you kill too many without picking one up

I have looked for triggers and beleived there should be certain triggers.... But all my experience in the game and approaching 13k total whitetail kills... Everything points to EW's maintained claim that everything is randomly generated... All that matters is the probability of a spawn and the ONLY way to influence the probability is kill kill kill and hope hope hope... Grinding is basically an exploit and the only exploit to the spawn mechanic... How you do it doesnt matter one bit, its all on your total kills driving the probability into your favour..

Hmm never thought of it that way I guess grinding is sort of an exploit. I'm sure the purpose of animal respawns wasn't for them to be continually respawned to try and get a certain thing, just to keep a good population on your map

I think the way they've set layton up now was to avoid the grinding techniques.. I have plenty of zones but nearly all of them are impossible to farm

Dont get me wrong i would love it if there was a secret formula to influence the spawn mechanic but it would also detract from the game if it was common knowledge.... Plenty of people have looked into the coding of the game and they all say the same... Random

i havent tried hunting them yet, cuss i just finished finding the zones.. but i did try to go back on some of them, and the wt's was in their spots. they dont always stand in the exact same spot, but they were in their zone.

They might end up jumping around those spots, I was under impression once zones were gone they get replaced with other animals after awhile

if you "destroy" the zone, the zone will most likely move, so just dont kill too many animals in the zone. use tripod to avoid it

on layton they are broke so even if u shoot 2 bucks in a herd and use tripods they will up and dissapear alot of times, or they will turn doe only and move zones etc. thats y i dont grind on that map. takes 40 hours to find all the zones

since they can be on literally any peice of water on the map

My take is that there is a bug making them spawn off the initial spawns too much but i feel the respawn rate is fine from what i have been able to see from other players and my own grinding. There's just a lot more people hunting them right now on pc and console too. And ill take a look at it, i spent about 20 hours also on layton and got 30 zones so you are doing better than me 😂

Last week i hit 3000 kills on rancho and as of this week i have done 1000 on layton since the update... No sign of one lol.. I have 4 melanistics now.. Before the rancho update i was 4 years without one.. Something has definitely changed with spawn rates

But that calculation is it you got them back to back so it's more like 0.000864 which is way lower than I thought it was. You had 1 in 86,400 chance of doing what you did. it was crazier than I thought 👀

Say, if a melanistic buck spawns in one in two thousand common whitetail spawns, that would mean one in about 2k diamonds would be a melanistic diamond

But great ones are often spawned within 30 diamonds or so if that from what I've seen.

However, a melanistic great one would be one in like 2k great ones so it's the rarest animal in the game next to albino great one
