@silver burrow I have had one of those after the patch as well. But after about 8000 whitetail since the patch I have only seen one like that. All the rest of the level 3s I have shot have been accurate. Still no sign of my second great one.

I believe this is the same issue thats plagued the GOs. There was one shot in multiplayer recently where one player saw this, and the other saw the animal as a level 10. The issue appears to be a GO spawning, then going out of render, and eventually spawning back in to render as a bugged one. I cant promise thats what this is, but its similar anyway

Probly is tbh because there hasn't been any posts of lv4s or lv5s recently that I've seen. After the last update I had one that was lv3 with a baby rack too after grinding

it's 0.4%. so one about every 250. odds of a GO dropping are supposedly in the range of 1:2,500. multiply that by 250 and you get 1:625,000. I was rough guessing at about 1:1,000,000 which is in the right ballpark

Yea literally kinsko and his friend were together and one was seeing a lv10 great one the other was seeing a lv3 that had a tiny baby rack

And I killed one that was lv3 and had a score of like 120 so it would've been him

And others lv4s and 5s scored as great ones in their codex 👀 (score in codex not the great one count that was there previously)

pop some rabbits/ducks or just hunt other zones. I have like 36 WT drink spots now, so I can pretty much hunt them full time and keep the pressure cleared

fixes hopefully soon

i gave my save to devs a while ago with a overweight whitetail

shooting mallards is the easiest quickest way to clear hunting pressure

just jump between tents on river and lakes .

I messed up a diamond right before it and then tried with the crossbow for something different for the GO, but it was traveling and with all the bugs I rushed the shot. Didn’t want it disappear. So I hit the vertebrae and didn’t get the perfect kill although it dropped instantly. Pics on the way

I tried that but they all respawn in brush again cuz I have bad luck

The one zone south of western roonachee I wiped 3 times and it never moved

Yet I get a zone at a lake and shoot one buck from it and it dissapears

I had 60 legit drinking zone icons. That’s not including the shared drink zones for multiple herds either. It’s time consuming, but if you want to get your zones to where you want them, you can try what I do.

Basically you wipe a herd down to one doe. Do this at all your bad locations. Usually it will respawn another herd close by. I have recently done that. Once I got my zones moved around, I went and killed off all my single zones. Found any new ones to check if the great one or diamond had spawn in them. If it’s not a good zone, I leave it alone. Just hunt lakes for me. Quicker grind. Then the great one popped again for me today. So I believe it works a little. Hope all that isn’t to confusing

I've killed 2.5k on pc and 1k on console and calling them is the only way. And lucky you, you can see every deer when you call them in but half my zones are in such thick brush that I only see part of them then have to track

Layton's not for everybody. It's my favorite map though. The crowded little waterholes with no cover on other maps are kind of ridiculous IMO

They can be pretty much anywhere. This is the WT drink map on my current playthrough. I really haven't checked the area circled in yellow very well, but I'm still close to 40 zones total. Basically check every last bit of shoreline except the river on the far right border of the map. Make sure you check all the way out to 100m or more away from the shorelines on the river. They can be 50 ft up on hillsides sometimes

Guyz hello! Im trying GO on PS4... about 50 days 9 diamonds, 5 albinos, 2 piebalds and 1 melanistic... zones are disapering and all groups have only 4 or 6 animals... no big herds on my map... some advise? Do I need do give sone rest do the map/whitetails?

The eastern border river also tends to contain a few herds of whitetail as well. At least it used to since I last played the game.

You probably have 20-30 zones in the places you have circled. Take your time and be thorough. Also, don't ignore the rest of the river or the big lake coast at the southern end.

only on one map so i had to reset them to fix it

and the devs have reccomended it to be done before to fix the broken lv10 reindeer that used to spawn, and u can ask other content creators it really doesnt make a difference. not any different than server hopping if anything

but it helps fix the broken animals

it could just be totally random and you could have a GO on your map

thing is to me it makes no sense for that to happen as people would just abuse deleting pop until getting one

so coming off a respawn is more than likely

my personal opinion is the game checks what whitetail you got on your map and at certain times replaces them. maybe it just replaces them with random whitetail of females or males or maybe there is a detailed system with higher probabilities to replace a great one off a higher scoring whitetail.

im glad its not easy to work out or even work out at all. otherwise it wouldnt make them special.

So after approximately 11,700 whitetail kills I have finally completed the Huddle Mount for the level 10 fabled deer. In this grind it took about 2500 to my first great one 8500 to my second one and and additional 700 until I found the 3rd GO. Harvested 78 diamonds, 21 level 3 trolls, 1 level 3 super troll, 13 piebald, 6 albino, and 2 melanistic. Grinded 8-12 hours a day. Averaged around 30 kills an hour.

I did have one level 3 with a level 1 rack out of all the kills. So, it’s possible it was a bugged great one. It would have been my second one and would explain why I went 8500 kills between my first and second great ones

I'm a little over 1.1k kills into my grind for the GO and I've ran into this same issue a lot, I've been noticing when you leave that one doe or buck, more bucks usually spawn back after a couple runs. If you dont wanna be patient and wait you can always delete the zone and find a new one, I'd recommend being patient first and if nothing spawn after 5-10 runs just get rid of the zone and find a new one. I'm not too sure how it all works, but this is what has worked for me so far. I hope this helps you man

That's what I've been noticing myself, I've had some zones have literally nothing even after leaving a doe or two there and after a few runs there will be respawns, its a very odd system to say the least. I started keeping an eye on that after deleting some zones because I was curious, it seems like if the zone is there on your map and whether there is nothing or just one doe/buck on its own, you will eventually get respawns at that zone after a certain amount of runs. I don't know if this is always the case or what, but that's how its been for me so far ever since I noticed that.

Yea that's probably the best bet. Grinding on layton is pretty difficult to do with any of the animals on it, it's so brushy and there's so much water on the map where they can drink. Missions are one of a few ways to make some money. The simplest is to just make a virtual slaughterhouse of sorts and kill everything in sight. Missions can give decent rewards though, between 1000 and 4000 cash per mission depending on how far into the mission chain you are

So, I wanted to do the GO grind right. I started on a fresh map and put like 75-100 hours into finding zones. Finally started getting into full swing and now my zones are going walkabout. I had 41 shootable zones at one point. I'm down to like 34 now. Started with a couple zones that went abandoned. Markers are still there but no deer show up anymore 12-3. Now I have a couple that self-deleted (not due to hunting pressure) Pretty sure one of those had a diamond in it.

For those of you who've been grinding a GO for awhile, do you just plan on having to go look for zones again every 500-1,000 kills? I'm resting all my zones for at least 3-4 game days after shooting them. Am I doing something wrong?

just keep hunt every buck that youve seen and hopefully they respawn with a good racs and fur or maybe become GO

sometimes some zones may seem like they dead and repopulate i just keep hunting the main ones while i come across new ones

the zones do change and i do think its so you dont just sit rinse repeat on the same zones and makes you explore the map

often the new ones are close by

Yeah I just got 5 “new” zones again, basically just zones that moved. Whenever I feel I’m “losing” whitetail somewhere I’ll do a run around to look for where they’ve gone. Works well for me

Yeah. I hate looking for zones on Layton. Soooo much ground to cover. I did find a "new" zone today. Luckily it was even in a halfway convenient place. Not looking forward to running 60m lines along the river again. That took ages

Damn I’m like 2000+ into my 2nd grind and weird stuff has started happening to my zones just like before I got a GO last time. Some herds just not showing up to their zones at all on some runs, then they’ll be there again. Plus had like 3 days with nothing but trolls and one piebald doe 😂 fingers crossed I’m getting somewhere tho: lotta zones about!

i had a similar thing just now...few zones swapped again and i followed a 85 -100kg i tracked this god damn thing for 30 -40 minutes and i found him he was just running in a circle 😁 was a diamond

I've had like 5 zones dry up in the last couple days. And the herds keep popping back up in places that are like 200m from another drink zone and situated to where I can't shoot one without spooking the other out. That's starting to sort itself back out, but I need to figure out where they moved to after I evicted them
