You should look into managing the pairs on the right side of your island.

This is a very common issue but this will Help to fix it

Pair Management is when you shoot only 1 fox out of Pairs on the right side of the map leaving the other alive in your exterior zones (right side of the map).
You can either:

• shoot only males out of pairs for basic management
  Or
• Shoot the Higher level fox out of pairs for better HM
  As long as one remains alive it will work the same. It’s entirely up to you.

So, the reason people keep diamonds at the start of the grind is to help with HM

Basically, it encourages lower lvls to spawn so you can build up that number of low level animals which encourages higher level spawns in return

Long story short, it’s only effective at the start of the grind when you’re still setting up HM

Otherwise just shoot it
