sort of a confession but I was in a lobby with 8 players, the host was lower level then me so I think the original owner of the map had left. I thought if I say something you're going to have 7 people come and a) shoot it with wrong caliber b) have bad shot(s), or c) scare it, so I made the decision to claim it myself. I never read what to do in this scenario but I think it was the right choice

if the lobby owner was lvl 60 or something I'd say something cause I remember when playing on Xbox that if we ever played with friends you'd always call a great one out

Tbh it’s never worth telling the host- chances are they aren’t the original host, regardless of level. Lots of low level players host multi too- but you can never tell. If YOU found it on a public multiplayer session, you should hunt it! Obviously as long as it’s not hacked and not every animal is a GO/super rare etc

With friends it’s a bit different - I’d definitely let a friend know if I found something on their map, but not on a public multi because you cannot tell if they’re the original host 99% of the time
