I think reducing the efficiency of grinds, specifically the amount of harvests/respawns per hour, can actually lead to a really good compromise for casuals and grinders. I’ll be using GOs as my reference trophy.

Casual grinders have been facing the issue of not being able to realistically obtain GOs through their play style. The issue with trying to make it easier for them is that it will also make it easier for grinders to obtain them resulting in the inflation of the trophy. Regardless of how you feel about the value of trophies and how that is determine, I think we can all agree that if a GO became as regular as a big gold it would be disappointing.

However this new batch of changes has made me realize something. If they were to artificially cap the efficiency of grinders they could then increase the spawn rate of GOs without nearly as much risk of over inflating them. This would work for grinders, because that play style would in theory still be the fastest way to obtain a GO. It would also be appealing to casuals because they will stand a chance at getting a GO without having to devote MONTHS of their life to it. Also, it would bring an end to the mass grinding of animals resulting in nearly a hundred harvest per hour which seems to not be the vision of the game.

What do we think of something along those lines? It seems like it has potential.

Capping it is to bring it in line with what EWs vision for the game is. I don’t think they like seeing people jump from tent to tent killing 100 animals an hour. If they cap the amount of respawns that happen in a certain time frame, they can increase the spawn rates of GOs without having grinders start killing GOs galore

To me it comes down to this: Great One RNG is too punishing for anyone with a “normal” gaming schedule. With the amount of variation each GO has, Great Ones are the new diamonds. Never mind even trying for super rares. Grinding wouldn’t be what we’ve created it to be if they increased GO spawn rates a bit. People want to collect them the same way folks have collected raid exotics in Destiny 2 for a decade. EW could implement an RNG forgiveness counter where the more diamonds you harvest of a given species, the greater your chance is to spawn a GO, then it resets after getting one. Just a thought.

You can still place tents on top of them, they just spook. I did a couple runs on tahr and just shot them as they ran away. You can use that to manage down the bad zones still and make the main zones the open ones in the top right.

Welp my whitetail are borked. So it seems it not an issue for every species, just some of them. First run i killed 17 bucks, second run a third of them respawned at the first 2 lakes i hunted, after that only 2 bucks respawned out of about 20 minutes of looking and now all 20ish of my bucks are just gone. Ill see if they ever come back. red deer worked super well tho so maybe until this gets addressed just focus on the species that do work well

Whitetail have always been weird with respawns so doesnt surprise me. Ive always needed to kill 15+ per run to get all respawns back even before the update. I wonder if it has something to do with how they spawn. Maybe we need to kill like 20 of them and then they will come back
