I thought it was enough so I began to kill the 2s in the exterior zones, but they have not respawned

it's possible they could have moved but my rev whitetail broke when i tried the grind on there and they wouldn't spawn back in at all

Herd management 1000000000% makes grinds faster overall. There’s still RNG involved so occasionally you get the odd longer HM grind- but in general you’re gonna get a longer grind without HM than with it.

As someone who has done it with and without, the difference using herd management makes is blindingly obvious

Hey guys looking for some opinions before i completely mess up my fallow GO grind so i had the idea of stacking my 3 largest herd zones which gives me 11-12 fallow and 1 other double zone but now that i have all of my exterior zones shot down and only have 5 diamonds stacked i am thinking it wasnt the best of all ideas.. im currently rotating 3 zones because 1 zone has 3 diamonds stacked in it.. So my question is should i shoot down 1 of the 4 bull zone and shoot up 2 of the double bull zones or will i be ok continuously stacking on the quads.. please and thank for your opinion..

if youre hoping for a great one and you have your zones managed well just take all of them out

I assumed the person was far along in their grind from what they said tbf

yeah id only stack at start until you get upto about 7 if..you want to do it

by then you will have enough lower levels

then kill them all

you dont have to do it.

still will work just will take a little longer to get the lower levels

i tried stacking diamonds to the absolute to see if it harms spawns it does

stacked 30 diamonds twice in a row

legendarys wouldnt spawn hardly at all at that point

but as soon as i killed them got it down to under 10 kills a legendary

then with selective shooting as little as 1 in 3 kills

selective shooting only really works at the sorta end of herd management though when you got all your levels sorted

then you only kill the highest level and then close game or go main menu start again

if your herd management is good then you will most likely get a diamond every few kills

as all its replacing is the top tier of levels

i managed to get about 70 diamonds in a week out of about 200 ish kills

so selective shooting deffo works later in the grind

which was the goal to try and get hard evidence what works what doesnt and actually proving it. instead of hearsay.

It's the right approach, but a tip is to keep the biggest bois (max levels) to push the spawns down to more smaller ones

More small ones = game will spawn more big ones

Nice cos on emerald I've got like 6 tents dotted around in primo spots along with tripods etc. The great thing is loads of deer share drink zones too so I can switch up my grinds over time. Plus the river ways are good too. And then to clear up pressure I just run the coast every other day and shoot crocs lol

as you can see my main fallow spots have hunting pressure which i will clear by going red deer hunting on main left lakes and middle river which are clear of hunting pressure

then change time at end of that run then return to fallows when hunting pressure gone

Ok so heres how it works:
You want to shoot big guys so small guys can spawn which loops back around to spawning big guys again.
I'm going to use Fallow deer as the example here.
You want a high population of difficulty 2 Fallow deer, as this encourages higher difficulty animals - like diamonds - to spawn. So shoot all the Fallow deer bucks that are difficulty 3 or above.

A Great One is basically a fancy diamond, since if you shoot one and (say you hit the spine or stomach) fail to pass the harvest check it will shrink down to a gold.

So you want to encourage high levels to spawn.

No it doesn’t. It just helps to spawn smaller animals for herd management

The more small animals of a species you have on a map (for example lvl 1 whitetail) it makes the map try to “re balance” things and spawns bigger animals. So leaving a lot of small stuff means the group of animals you do shoot (so lvl 2-3 whitetail) will likely spawn big/bigger- thus more diamonds/great ones

Stacking diamonds basically does the opposite of what HM does, which would be lowering the average level your respawns are. It’s done at the beginning of a grind to build up a large number of low level animals which, in turn (after the diamonds are then killed), increases the average level your respawns will be

THIS! I have had so many people, even creators wondering how I still enjoy great one grinding. And be in complete disbelief when I tell them i still love it. It never gets old, its a feeling that never lessons even after many great ones. its that sense of accomplishment and adrenaline that not many other things can give you in this game aside from super rares.
