It's as simple as this: if HM doesn't speed up your grind, it slows it down. with HM you shoot far less males, shooting every male should be the best method for spawning a great one because it maximizes the amount of respawns you get per run. there is literally no reason to use HM if it doesn't increase your chances at a GO. Plain and simple.

Alternatively, work in a rebalanced respawn system that doesn’t work off of animals existing on the map at the moment but based on what was last spawned.
For example, you shoot a male fallow and it respawns as a lvl 2. You kill that lvl 2 and the game goes “damn. That guy was small. I should probably spawn in a larger male the next time” and it’s a lvl 3/4 respawn

If you shoot all your low lvl males then all the game’s gonna do is spawn high level males and the next respawns you get are likely to be low again. I think we just need clarity so that everyone can be back on the same page again. If HM speeds up the spawning of GO's then so be it.. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed but if that's the case then we know that GO's that spawn without HM are more rare and harder to come by.. Which all signs are currently pointing to.
