Honestly, the games open ended enough that you can more or less hunt how you want

if you are looking to herd manage, I would suggest searching the terms HM or Herd Manage here in the server and look to see what anyone with a yellow name has said about it

and if you are looking to hunt, I mean, shoot what you want

Herd Management has absolutely an effect on how many diamonds you will get and crank out when its perfected

but every killed male has a chance to proc a Great One (if its a species that has one)

And picking up your kills will encourage much faster respawns of animals (as well as keep you in money) through it all
