My go-to strat for quail has been to walk around in fields until I hear a mating call, then go in that direction with my shotgun out until they flush

Another trick I found; after you shoot a few quail, stay put. They will begin to return and make a warning call, if you flush them then they will begin to fly towards you

5:30-10 is the best time to hunt them as well

Geez thats wild, im past 4200 and decided to switch to revontuli as my respawns are 100% broke. I go from around 30 males in my favorite zones down to less than 10 over a few hundred kills. Then they all randomly come back at once. This has happened 3 times and its impossible to grind when it dwindles down to less than 10 so i just moved to rev where hopefully they wont be as broken

I spent the last 3 weeks in cuatro and I think Ibex are somewhat buggy with regard to using drink zones. Especially when I arrive prior to their start, they tend to not come at all, or wander around aimlessly the whole time around the body of water.
One time, a whole herd just walked straight from south shore to north and just out of render range without stopping to drink.
I'd be interested to hear if you experience irregularities while grinding
