The more zones = more animals is technically true but not in the way people think

If you go around looking for zones you are accessing more of your map which will in turn open up more opportunities to come across animals, but those animals will always be there even if you do not discover those zones

Outside of the cacciatore 12g, the Rhino, and the bows (because they’re pretty much the same)

Reason being that the base game guns are designed around flexibility and being able to cover a larger range of animals. The 7mm, .243 and 12g are part of most universal loadouts. The only reason the .243 rifle is no longer part of it is because the .243 handgun came out and even then the rifle is still used if you want follow up shots and range

a great one, they spawn as 10 - fabled
currently there are a few species that can be great ones
Whitetail
Red Deer
Black Bear
Moose

they are heavier than normal specimens of their species

and have some determining characteristics

like special fur, or wildly different antlers

Now we know that the GOs don't reset the population but when my bear spawned some of my zones changed, It was so noticeable that I didn't finish my grind until like the next IRL day cause I was mapping all the changes in the zones and making runs and re-runs of half map, then when everything changed back I did a full run and on my last lake was the GO
