How do people get so many rares with herd management wtf, I’m struggling to get one every 500 kills

The only time I got a shit ton was when I was shooting every stag I saw

@rigid forge so, let me get this right. You stack a bunch of level 9s (not the crab racks), then shoot your 4s and 5s to get them to respawns as 2/3s. After you get a lot of those, you then shoot the level nines and get back to grinding as normal?

then leave the very smol things alone

My understanding of is you build up level 9s to make 2-3s spawn in bulk, then purge the 9s and the opposite effect takes place where higher levels start spawning in bulk

Purge method burns through my ammunition ridiculously fast unfortunately and I make very little profit compared to herd management

At this point I’m mainly just grinding for money lmao

If herd management doesn’t provide anything for a while I’ll switch back to purge method

well stacking high levels is really so you can shoot mids and push them low.

there is no real set number on how many you should stack - but you should watch your spawns and number of shooters.

for bears you want to be down to 10-20 shooters including the stacked 9s.

so im shooting for 30ish. but i dont know the number you should hit yet. what you want to do is watch your spawns. when you start seeing them pinball - meaning they go up and down and up and down and not consistently moving in one direction. then thats when you take your 9s and start rotating shooters.

obviously youll always have spawns go up or down so you just need to pay close attention. especially with that many shooters.

just judge your overall spawn pool as you rotate and recognize when you've hit the point where your spawns are acting in that way across the board.

its definitely best so you know where to look to find your spawns. most people i have seen say dont shoot until you find them all, but i shoot away as im exploring the map. just stay within the band youre targeting while youre finding zones.

so id say if you havent found them all you can start shooting if you havent yet, but dont stop looking for them and really try and not nuke.

Instead of stalking down an animal you only caught a glimpse of to get a good shot on it, you’re endlessly slaughtering animals in the most efficient way possible by fast travelling around the map to different zones

Don’t get me wrong. Grinding is well worth it and I can always just go on hunts like I’ve just describe but one is far more rewarding whilst the other is much more inconsistent with trophies

There’s two methods for grinding;
Purge method and herd management.

Purge method is where you shoot either every male in a zone or simply every animal in a zone. This method is better for getting rares as the odds of one of your animals spawning in as a rare increase because more animals are respawning.

Herd management is where you only shoot the higher level animals and leave the low levels alive. This is meant to cause an imbalance on your map because there’s too many low levels males, therefore the game spawns in overall bigger males to balance it out. It’s far easier with animals that max at level 9 but it’s possible with WT. Herd management is better for spawning diamonds because the odds of a max level male spawning are higher

Purge method gives you higher overall kills per run, herd management gives you better overall males per run at the cost of having less kills per run

I usually do a split rotation every couple of runs. So do 1/2 my lakes twice in the same rotation - then the other half twice in the next. Clear shooters that come in late off the map then back to full rotations. (For red deer). On TA I start at 7:30 and go to 10:00ish.

If you’re doing bears on 2 lakes then I’d just start later in the zone time. Then do the spit rotation for full map runs when you need to starting at an earlier time.
