Now my thing is do you really WANT one or do you just want to collect one because I’ll be honest they aren’t a look you can pull off easily

Atleast not without some good western wear

Like to me a good western wear outfit is pearl snaps, selvaged indigo jeans, a pair of boots preferably (nice ones) and then a cowboy hat if you look good in it

And hat quality makes a difference

Whether that be a custom hat from a small hat company or a hat from cavenders there is somewhat a difference but I’m not gonna judge cavenders because atleast here in Texas they do it right

I’ve never been to one outside of it so idk what the experience is like but generally they have a whole hat section the minute you walk in to the right and they make them there for you on the spot and steam them and shape them

And if you were to get a hat I’d start with rabbit/felt

If you can afford it go beaver

Now I don’t own a custom hat I have a lot of hats from my step moms ex husband who was part of the rodeo and least to say they ain’t cheap felt

But if you can I really recommend going the custom route if your above 18 and your heads done growing because it’ll last you for life

But that’s only if you are actually going to be using it

Otherwise it’s just a novelty item

For me when working under the Texas sun and having to work with horses and doing some of the labor (it’s not hard just stuff that needs to be done) it’s nice to have a hat

When doing real ranch stuff truthfully these days you can move cattle with a quad and they generally know when to move into another field so it’s not hard to work with them

Outside of that literally all you have to do is occasionally put out hay and continuously feed the fat asses
