My big Lop studd bunny Taffy, brought him out of his winter isolation and back into the girl pens for Valantimes day, i dare say he was pleased to be out of the cold in more ways than one 😏

and Conker a continetion of his off leash training, and passed the "come here" practise with flying colours, if a amount of calling and treat waving to get his attaintion, but with each return a quicker response.. he's so dam smart and picks up new rules and training so quickly some of my family rivals refuse to belive its lagit. 🤠 🦊

Remembet when i spoke of finding a buzzard skull, well todays training walk not only went well, but got even better, fir the fresh rains heralding spring defrosted the earth, and with it parts of the birds remains reveiled themselves.. now im so lucky to have both the skull and its bottom jaw, but stars be amaized i actualy found three of its talons as well, once washed they will go into my nature collection as a most rarest of prizes 😁

Again after 3 real days of stand hunting what i belived or knew where wolf travel paths, between need zones.. i failed to even see a wolf, let alone attract and hunt any.. this pic is from the north recovering hills.

then at the north lake, aloneside the railroad even at night.. nothing...

The sun again came up bright and warm over a land of dying frost .. but soon it turned hot, so we saved our hike up our vally mountain for the evening to sundown.. eventuly made to turn back before reaching the top, due to the rapid light loss, and mum still ill with long Covid, to tired to contine the struggle up the rubble path.. a good way up, we found much path damage from a wave of bad storms during the winter that had washed and crumbled the already worn path away... and when reaching our point to turn back, mum showed me how to take my 1st panaramic of my fair but ruggid vally home.. 😊

Tadpoles in peral, its that time of year again, and although there are local flooded ditches that our local frogs annualy spawn, often over eger froggos leave their spawn in mountain road puddles, where in the morning frost and hot sun the suvival in the drying up mud is zero, so doing our part for nature me and my little sister anastaisa come to the rescue with a clean bucket, and gather them up and hurting my arms and back "those buckets become realy heavy" carry them to the vallys other side in multiable trips to the safty of the spawn pools where they have a fighting chance.. from muddy puddles to the cleaner stables dike. We saved as many as possable.. our frog populations have been hit hard over the years.. so every spawn counts. Artimus is prowd of our work today. 😊

Just your typical morning in Wales, as feral sheep cross into town to get reach the other vally side and graze on the neglected grassbanks between streets, ambushing them from behide a car, i was finaly able to get those feral sheep close ups i wanted to share, better still they brought their lambs with them. 😊

Ha a gun like that would never make it past the flight gate, most types of guns and hunting with bows is illigal in the Uk "real shame realy 🥺 ", and hunting Sheep even the Feral is Banned "as far as i know" so these sheep are safe to walk where they please and lamb every season, but with our harsh climate they only popluate enough to form small groups and familys, only comming together for their herds to meet, the most ive ever seen resently was when a mulitude of herds had a reignuien froming a temparary count of just under 30 sheep is was a nice rare sight to see from feral flock standerds.

Morning Lakewalk Surprise a Garden plant gone wild, forgoten what it is and called, but there is no doubt that its not a native plant to wales, and often seen in garden centers "and ASDA's front" this little purple plant of joy gave me a hard time to photo as i had to crawl face first on my belly down the steep stone lake bankside with Conker pulling on his lead tied round my left ankle, while taking a photo on my proped phone with only one finger... no surprise other dog walkers were given me funny looks, but the other passing photographers could relate.. for we will do the maddest things to get our best shot. 😏

Last weekend was a Life changer for me, for it was to be my very 1st step as a amiture Angler.. and for this special treat mum acting as my fishing coach took me down all the way to Tenby a Beutiful tourist town that i haden't seen since a child, there we began my training while enjoying the sunny splender of the brilliant welsh coast, enjoying the fresh sea air in the presence Gulls and feeding ganets and took it all in. and although the ganets were more successful in catching than we did, the five hour travel there and back was all worth it, for the first time in a year and a half of lockdown missery, i felt not a drop of it, smiled with a content happyness that i could actualy feel, causing a large crack in the thick mud of depression that coats me and my old self can finaly see out with new hope... its no surprise that fishing is fouth in restoring mental health.. the power of just being outside and enjoying nature... being part of it... the pleasure of catching fish just makes it better... 😌

and while we traveled we couldn't help but scope out other petental fishing venues for the welsh coast has numberous estrarys full of interest, and we enjoyed many of our local food speacaltys half of which ended up as bait.

sadly no, but its my 1st session and sea fishing in britains always hard.. as they say in the uk, if you want to fish take up any kind of angling, if you want to catch fish go coarse fishing. 😉

Awsome, mum was taken my siblings on a sweetest sunny day to Saint Faggons and Barry beach, and while photographing a water mill, she was blessed with one of the uk's rarest sights, for a rare grass snake "the harmless water constricter and one of the Uk's only two species of snake the latter being the Adder" crawled into her shot veiw and mum has never seen one before in her whole life, needless to say its made her day... 😍

Walking home in the sunshine yesterday "now its raining and my fishing is canceled 😭" but got so close to a pair of canada geese i could knelt and touched them, and their are a number of crossbreeds at the lake including this pair that almost never part, but not sure what to class them as?

Taken advantage of a sea storm wash up, mum brought home buckets full of a variety of bladderrack and other seaweeds, and we are drying them out for mums new crafting prodjects, just need more seaglass.. 🧙‍♀️

Ran out of Fish Pie mix, so... i made some adjustments .. behold my so called Seafood Gumbo "so mum classed it" aka : fish meat of cod/salmon/smoked haddock mixed with prawns, cockels, dices leek, chopped spring onions and samphire.. served in watercress sauce and baked into the oven.. super simple to make and even simpler to cook.. yet this throw together meal was so good it took me by surprise.. and even with a small dish i felt as satisfied as a walrus full of crab.. definatly something i'll make again 😋

I'm always hearing stories from my elders in Iowa about salamanders here but I've gone my whole life without seeing them here. They must've died off to really low numbers. I used to see a TON of leopard frogs when I was young but those have disappeared too. 😦

The only type of salamanders I see are the blue spotted and they are pretty common

I don't see as many amphibians in general around here. When I was a kid, you'd see millions of toads every summer in eastern CO. I still see a few, but it seems like their numbers are probably down 80-90%. Have seen a few bullfrogs though in places where you used to find leopards

we saw lots of them when i was wildlife volunteering in south africa, nothing stranger than watching elephants climb up rocky mountains in the highveld lol

never got any nice pictures of them because i only had my phone on me but we were doing a game transect with the research team and came across about half the reserves population all at the river, it was so cool

i do have this one of an elephant starting to climb lol

also highly recommend going to a game auction in south africa if you can, its so surreal lol these are white-flanked impala

Where i live there's a time when you can bow hunt in the parks to help reduce the urban deer population (clueless people here purposely feed the deer (for fun) and every deer in the state hides in this town during hunting season >.>. We've got a deer problem)

Had an amazing encounter with this very territorial roe buck this morning. Saw him and a doe run past me on the fence line, and he then calmly hopped over and started heading towards me! Finaly caught my cameria bugger Conker with that happy face of his, 🥰 waited for the sun to begin its set to escape the dangerous heatwave that could kill a rain loven welshmen and his dog if hes not careful. took Conker out to absorb natures summer vibes, and take fact to appreiate my vallys isolated bliss, when i was but a toddler this vally had only just grown its grass over the once bare black hills of rubble, soot and slag... there were no trees, and the newly built lake was empty and barren... i've grown up with this forest around.. where once not a stick stood and we flew our kites.. is a thick willow wood. where once ruins stood a stream now flows its healing rythm to soak my soul. with its slopes gold with buttercups, dandilions and gorse and others all in flower... it may not be great mountains white and cold, nor a hunters paradise despite the rabbits in fling, but its enclosed peace for the rest of the worlds chaos doesnt know we're here... and so torments elsewhere... i love this vally not so old.. for i turn 30 this year yet i'm barly older as these new hills

comming back to planet Zoo with the Rewild Uk project still fresh in my mind, desided rather than restart a new map but instead come back to my Greyhella Sound map which was already based on the Uk , and contine its convertion... and Finaly i have after weeks on and off grinding with the terrain brushes.. have cut out the excess space into what i hope to become a beutiful british coast, paying close attention to the would be tidal formed rise and fall of the sea bottom and forms of raised reefs, with ajected islands as my big podject finaly starts to become more than just flat ground.. hunting today surprised myself with a shot that dropped this Elk instantly.. but i did it with my Longbow at 63m.. proberly my longest shot clean kill with a traditional bow yet that my memerory is aware, but i'm dying to ask what is the maximum expected hunting range with a Longbow or recruive? in realety compared to ingame?

Longbows were pretty lethal out to 250 or 300 yards IRL. As far as being accurate on a single man-sized target though, even 100 yards is an unbelievably difficult shot. Max reliable range for a bow with no sight is more like 40-50 yards depending on the size of the target. In game, people have hit 200 yard + shots, but obviously missed quite a few times trying to set some kind of PB. In game, it's not too difficult to hit out to 50m consistently with the longbow or recurve. If you're shooting at a diamond, I'd probably say keep it under 35m
