i think one of the first things i did was travel between lookout points and outposts on the map, and killed everything in between, it's still the first thing i do with a new map

Look up the time for drink zones and go to the lakes at that time

if you've got a side shot, usually right behind the front legs, midway in the body of almost any animal, you're going to hit the lungs... most animals should go down right away if you use the correct ammo

otherwise, if you've got the animal facing you, try and figure out where the heart is on that animal... if you're unsure, kill that thing and look at where the heart is placed on the body... a heart shot will take anything down instantly

Good morning everyone. I was in COTW this morning, still a new player with the rifle and ammo you start with. Every animal I called in I followed the blood trails (Low Bleeding) only to find the trail run cold. I was for the front mass all of the time. Does anyone have any idea's or tips for new player to level up?

Are you getting the splotches on the map after shooting an animal? The splotches indicate kills. When things die a new spot will show, and multiple in the same area will make it brighter.

I often use that if I'm unsure if I downed something. No splotch after a few minutes, I move on.

Starting rifle and ammo is good for up to class 4. Blacktail, whitetail, coyote, jackrabbit, mallard should be your targets for getting started. Elk, moose, black bear will require multiple shots more than likely with starting ammo/gun.

Whitetail drink between 8:30-12:00 and as of last update only drink on the west half of the map. Go to an outpost close to water, rest until about 8:25 and slowly walk to the nearest lake/river and wait. If you don't see or hear anything by 9:20, walk to the nearest water source to see if any whitetail are drinking, at each water source you can get to until around 12:30. Should help you get going with some xp/money until you can get better gear.

Do you mean the reflections behind the branches of the birch tree? It's not a bug, it's the type of reflection system the game uses, screen space reflections. Which will only reflect things that you can see on screen, since the birch tree is covering the trees in the background it won't produce a reflection.

All great ones are 10 - Fabled level. They are found through grinds or finding one as an initial spawn. They are "elevated diamonds" so if you mess one up it becomes a gold medal, but they have a unique medal

help! I accidentally shot out all my lions and lost a lot of drinking zones. How do I farm lions for better respawns when herds are in 2s or 3s? how long do animals take to respawn? How long will they take to start going back to their drinking zones? I really do not know much about how the respawn mechanics work so im really asking for an explanation on the mechanic

Okay first if you deleted a lot of zones I recommend going out and killing different things to move hunting pressure away from your lakes then after you have done that take and sleep for one or two in-game days sleep to the time of when you start hunting for them when the drink time begins turn the game off and turn it back on you will have all your lions back to kill then try to get better at zone management I recommend no more then 2 kills per zone (gives you that one kill breathing room)

As long as you go back to the main menu or turn the game off and on yes they will respawn after sleeping

From my personal experience predators are a little bit more finicky like sometimes it takes a few more days than just one of sleeping but normally one or two days will do it

And there was one morning I killed like 150 lions and about a four and a half hour period

But once you get the hang of it and test around with it you can learn it pretty good and knock out animals really fast

Honestly all of them are good they all have different perks about them and different great things wp1 and smoking barrels are too wonderful packs but weapon pack 3 with the mosin is like one of the best guns for class 3 in the game and the air rifle is a fun little unique gun to use and weapon back to you have the 45 Long Colt 410 revolver Ruger Mark 4 22 pistol just every weapon pack gives you something unique

if you buy yukon valley you can get the 300 canning rifle after you get 6k rifle score, its class 7-9 and arguably the best rifle for larger classes

The .308 .303 and m1 are all the kings of classes 4-8 the .300 is the king of 7-9 with the .338 the Prince pretty much the 7mm can do the same as all the above but only has 1 shot

The .22 10 shot rifle and pistol have a trick of a reduced spook range compared to normal rifles 125m or 150m iirc compared to 200 m and they have the ability if you shoot a shot next to a animal it will make it go alert without spooking it the zarza 22 does not do that that is what the 22 trick is if an animal is a different position or you do not have a good shot you can pop a 22 round next to it and it will go alert and move around

Yes the 7mm is overall just good especially if you have a good bit of experience in it it's also with a little bit of training accurate as hell and soft points will get quick kill on buffalo and bison and moose with a single lung shot within 150 m

The only way for hunting pressure to go away is by making it somewhere else

Once you have hunting pressure on your map it will forever be on your map

You just have to move it around to different locations

Like you cannot play a map for 3 months when you hop back your hunting pressure will be in the exact same spots

Okay there is a base amount of 16 whenever you use a rifle it creates like 4-6 iirc so using a rifle out of a stand you destroy a zone in three kills bow is 16 kills pretty much what you need to do is go kill five or six animals and you have moved a good bit of hunting pressure with a rifle

Yeah animal size or anything doesn't affect it but using a hunting stand blind tripod tree stand etc does reduce it greatly from 3 rifle kills to kill a zone to 16
