It all applies to the host, if the host leaves someone else will become host and any further actions will be translated to their map save.

the person who hosts their map is using their singleplayer's population
other people just hunt on their singleplayer population, and their map is updated to reflect what hunting happened

if you set up a lobby and make it private you can invite only your friends in and anything you do on that map will be saved to your map so if yo want to continue in the future you just have to re make the multiplayer

i keep getting told they don't but mine seems to scare tons of prey and there is a mechanic in the game where it says critical something in the dog tooltip and if you don't get it to sit or lay down in time the animal runs off

the 303 ammo is much cheaper than the 7mm so that is also a consideration

7mm can take class nine but it only can shoot once so if there is a herd you might want 303 but if there is just 1 animal you want to shoot bring the 7mm also I recommend 303 for grinds instead of the 7mil

I know that when you kill a gold animal of any sort. It will respawn likely at gold or higher. My question is, what happens when you kill an animal that should be gold, but you have a bad shot, or a flesh shot making it silver or bronze. How does it respawn then?

It will respawn as a gold or higher or worser if you had a bad shot it'll respawn the same as if you had a good shot. Been playing for 1 and a half year and this is as much as I understand about respawns it is confusing

there are two conflicting thoughts one that it is totally random so you should kill everything the other is that if you selectively cull the highest it increases the chances of a larger or higher value animal spawning

Try getting the zeroing perk under rifle perks and the decrease wobble perk, also under rifle perks and work on getting a better scope

you can change the range at which your crosshairs are zeroed at lvl 1 you can lower it and at lvl 2 you can increase it so for most rifles the default zero is 150m and you can lower it to 50m and raise it to 300m it makes it much easier to hit at long or short ranges but it needs to be activated in the skill tree before you can use it ingame

if you need a guide try ladylegendxo on youtube she has a few beginners guides and she keeps updating them for patches and changes

Hi I'm new to the server. I've played 19 hours of what mostly feels like a walking simulator. I encounter an animal only every 20-40 minutes and it's really getting rather dull. I looked online to see if I could buff the spawn rate to make the game more fun. Apparently that's impossible for some reason. Someone in the archived forum I looked at said spooking animals was probably the big issue. To that end I looked for my spooked animal number and I feel its rather high. What can I change so I can actually enjoy the whole aiming and shooting part.

The game is centered around need zones and need times. Essentially, at certain times of day, animals will go to different places on the map to eat, drink, or sleep. The drink zones are the most popular because that’s where the animals tend to be the most visible

That's what I try to do. I run around for tracks then after finding some walk to the end and then they run away 80% of the time

I recommend trying Layton Lake District. It is a more open map and you may have more luck finding stuff on there

Hunting the rivers and lakes around midday, you should find a nice selection of deer

Well I bought the game and most of the dlc in a bundle, plus I like the premise. So I'll stick with it and hope for the best. But imo there really should be a difficulty management option. Code wise it should not be difficult to change spawn rates or spook distance

Enabling the player to choose the difficulty of their experience would be bad? Giving the player the ability to decrease or increase the difficulty as they feel needed ruins the design how? The mechanics stay the same it's just the intensity

One of the big things about hunting games is hunting for trophies. If there were difficulty options, that would just make getting said trophies easier, and there’d be no incentive to choose a harder difficulty, and thus a difficulty setting becomes pointless

If players don't play with the same rules, trophies become pointless. Super rares won't be super rares anymore etc.

Easy you give the trophies a banner or small corner marking showing the difficulty. Also is the only point of the game to compare achievements against others? Can you not just enjoy the experience

Personal challenge and the test of skill to see if you have the knowledge and ability to utilise all the game mechanics (that you could learn and hone in easier difficulties) in the most demanding possible experience the game could provide

The small predators are known to be some of, if not the most difficult animals to hunt in this game

In my opinion, the base COTW experience is the easy mode, if we compare it to Classic. As you learn your maps, where to hunt animals, at what time they drink, etc. you'll see that there is no need for an easier game mode.

My general view is that difficulty settings work well for some games, but not for others. And this is one of those games where a difficulty setting doesn’t make a lot of sense

That is basically my point though. I don't have much experience and the current game difficulty makes me, a new player, not want to continue. We fundamentally represent different sides of the spectrum; players who know all the game mechanics with hundreds or thousands of hours and someone who wants to get into it with none of that knowledge. it has been half a ingame day and half a night so far and the tooltip is still saying return get key and examine

night hunting with the new ar's is quite difficult if you use irons the torch glares off the front post making it exceptionally difficult to see

if the flip up sights on the .22 where black insted of tan it would be much easier to see
