Well then how come I’m using the right classes for each animal and seemingly hitting the right spots yet the bullets either aren’t penetrating or they aren’t even reaching the target even though im pretty sure I’m close enough. I’m using polymer tip bullets so they should be going through things no problem. I just figured maybe other rifles would have better range or power making the bullets penetrate deeper.

Cause the class 1 gun was definitely giving me some range problems.

Had some turkeys fly right past me and took like 4+ shots at them and missed everything.

Also has an issue with ducks but maybe that’s because they were just too far out on the lake and I would’ve needed a duck caller to get them to come close.

Okay default zero is 150 m so pretty much with most rifles except for the 22 and drilling both is 100m anything under that distance you aim at the lungs you're going to hit the lungs after you get about 100 m out of that you start really experiencing bullet drop guns do range in bullet drop as well

100 meters is basically where you want to be as a beginner

Wow…. I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not, but I think I found the easiest method to kill alligators….

In terms of when that is.

Hunt them at night with 454 rhino. If they are in water, the part that sticks out of the water lets you know where to shoot, and they almost always insta die to the rhino.

Figured it out while looking for raccoon drink zones. Been going 45 min in game time, only found 1 raccoon drink zone, but got 9 ONE HIT KILL gators, all males, and the only ones I shot at/saw.

Hi all. Recently got CotW. Been loving it so far. So today I logged in and the game said I had a corrupt save. I chose to do the role back option and everything seemed fine after that. It didn't even appear to have rolled me back. Then when I logged in to play this evening I see have pretty much lost all my progress. Almost as if the game didn't save at all today. Is there a fix for this?

Usual culprit of that is your firewall deciding it doesn't like the game

adding COTW (or Steam in general) to the whitelist should prevent it from happening again

Ok guys, I’m away from the game, but I need some help. HOW THE HECK DO YOU HUNT RACCOONS effectively? Tried following the guides online about hunting drink zones at night, have only found 3 and seen 1 raccoon. Tried running around fields during feed times and got 3 total out of 3 feed times. I’m using scent eliminator, I’m not making noise, and I’m not new to the game lol. What the heck am I doing wrong?! Any advice welcome.

You are using the caller right? I found some resting zones in the fields, put up a tripod to get a better overview of the area and call them in. Not saying that's the best method, but I don't seem to have a shortage of raccoons, that's for sure.

yes there are some birds just flying around which do not count as trophy animals... you can shoot them but not harvest... geese on the otherhand are only available on Hirschfelden... usually you can go into the fields in the western part of hirschdorf and wait until you will hear them calling (using the caller might speed up things)... if they are flying low enough you can either shoot them from the sky or use the caller such they land next to you.... unfortunately now they are a little bit bugged so it is really hard to get them near you

but you can immediately see the difference if you see the geese in comparison to the non-shootable birds

If you can spot a goose flying, on PC by pressing E while aiming or using the binoculars, you can shoot it. I have found that if the geese are flying in a perfect V shape and you can't spot them, then you can't shoot them out of the sky.

Yeah, I misjudged the distance on a Diamond Blacktail and hit the leg instead of the Lung so it didn't die. I can't find it again.

If you had a kill there, it will be brighter because it's stacking, and old hunting pressure gets darker as it fades

Hunting stands and bows result in less hunting pressure as well I think

hey guys I just bought the wild goose chase and duck and cover DLC .The problem is that when I use goose decoys their hunting is much easier than the ducks .I'm trying to hunt some ducks but they aren't coming I'm quacking in the blind for 1 hour and no ducks are coming I laid the decoys properly they are around 30 but still nothing and I'm on a sleeping zone right on time I don't know why they aren't coming.
