Lakes at the top around Bosque Muerto. Bottom end of the lake with a spiky shape in the north/north west. Diamond shaped lake in NE of map. Either lake in Lago Bebe. Possibly the bank of the big river to the east but I've only had mixed success there. Hope you get a diamond faster than I have(n't).

Specifically disallowed, I read somewhere once. But if you happen to come across something which didn't run from the noise when you were still 500m away, you can hop off pretty quickly and have a go.

Crashing into animals hurts you, not them, in my limited experience.

#

You have to use a gun with the ammo to cover that class if you lower or higher it won't pass harvest check and you will get one less on the medallion where gold would be silver diamond would be gold and so forth

also the scope is fatter so it blocks more of your screen
so its difficult to find you target on short distances

The only constant is I almost always have a bow (since it covers all classes) and a 4-8 rifle

#

I would have a yard sale to ditch the Strad and the 7mm if I could. Maybe the Martensson but hopefully it will be improved

They also just seem to do whatever they want compared to other animals that I can predict.

Just watched a Mountain lion that was upwind of me about 400m away or something just darting around for fun, then sped off up a mountain.

OK chaps - looking for some help with tent placement. At some point, I'm going to finish my PF mule deer grind (I have to think that, even though it's been months!) and I'm going to have a whole load of tents and stands that I can distribute amongst the other maps. I'd like to get set up for Medved Taiga to finish off the achievements for "harvest 50 of XYZ" (I'll complete musk deer today probably, but I still need lynx and bear) in and for general hunting once I've finished the map. That’s really all there is to it. Harvested animals will respawn with random level (within algorithm parameters which favor lower and middle levels to make diamonds rare so not totally random)

You got Parque Fernando? Let me put my misery to good use for you. I've spent weeks grinding for a diamond mule deer. Still not found one. Upside: I've never had so much cash or ammo. They're about 1k a pop and you can often get 2-3 at each drinking spot, with 5-6 in a drinking time. If you put your money into tents first and get set up, you'll have lots of kit in no time...

partly depends on what you are doing, but with DLCs one of the best shotguns are the three skins of the 10 gauge. 3 rounds a piece, so for goosing, if you equip all three, you have 9 rounds without reloading (once you unlock birdshot if locked)

Yes that's the only class levels it can't cover. With shotguns, shooting any animal with buckshot is always an iffy proposition unfortunately. You can do it, but when you spray a deer or something with buckshot, it doesn't penetrate much and you might not get a vital hit. The slugs are better for non-bird hunting with any shotgun, but rifles, pistols, and bows are a better go-to generally

I've still done it plenty here and there though, and it will help you raise your shotgun score

Once you've unlocked birdshot then you can set up a goose stand if you have the DLCs and imho shotguns are the best way to rake in the money with geese. Many use the .22 also, and I use both a shotgun or two and the .22lr for geese

Blue lines for general area that they are found in purple dots are good spots to check yellow dots are hot spots for me YMMV the white dot if you sent and that look up power about 30 minutes before drink time they will come across that field to go to that lake that is where I get my first time in I've gotten 3-4 mythicals in a couple of others yellow dots on the coast are good for feed zones rest zones and drink zones the top y'all dots You will find probably when you first start a absolutely shit ton in large herds up there so be prepared the photo below is a list of their needs them times just make sure you be careful because they are very dangerous animals the different fur types that they come in or orange common black and albino after you kill a good bit but very bottom like that has the purple dot will probably gain a lot of water buffalo he went from having a couple for me to nearly having 15 down there so there's a good chance it will turn into a hotspot or could already be one for you so good luck and I hope this helps

Thanks for your reply, I found out that I have this skill, but my mistake was that I didn't explain what I wanted exactly. I watched some clips and they were looking at the animal after they shot it. They can see the blood rate decreases through the binocular. This is what I want exactly.

Yes you can copy the files found at: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Avalanche Studios
and place them in a safe location.

Or you can get more creative and do what I do and create a batch file to auto-backup. Just run the file once in a while or every time you close the game for peace of mind. 🙂

This:

xcopy "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Avalanche Studios\*.*" "C:\Users\USERNAME\Google Drive\CoTW BACKUP\*.*" /E /I /J /Y

will copy the save to the location specified which in my case is a Google Drive Folder. Even if my PC were to burn to the ground, I would have a copy of my save safely stored in the cloud.

The easiest thing to do is to find drink zones for the animal you want to hunt, then ~150m from it place your tripod and kill every trophy animal you can hit.... and then do that just over and over

If you just want to cover coyotes, the Ranger is probably best. If you want to also hunt rabbits and ducks, then weight becomes an issue if you are also carrying the .300 and M-1 and you pretty much have to pick and choose. Bows are good for this because any bow can fire arrows to cover every class. Handguns also cover more classes at much lower weight, and the .22 pistol is good for class 1s and the .357 for coyotes

On Layton I usually leave out a weapon for rabbits and ducks and ignore them for that reason. If I want to hunt them specifically then I’ll take a shotgun, Virant, pistol, etc

#

Some maps are easier than others to carry a loadout that easily covers all animals. On Vurhonga it’s next to impossible. Layton is one where you are better off prioritizing a little

One of my favorite weapons to use on Layton, and one of the most potent weapons in the game, is the Hudzik .50 cal muzzleloader. The Minie balls it fires have a combined penetration and expansion which is really unmatched by any other ammo. For anything from blacktail deer to moose, the .50 cal will drop them in their tracks with a well-placed shot

OK guys, I've been trying to earn the Peppe's Challenge achievement for the last few days now - does anyone have any tips or suggested locations? Quite often I'm finding I can call the reindeer back in enough to knock 2-3 over, but I've never yet managed enough times to get the 5 heart shots. 4 is my best so far. Also - I keep getting multiple herds. I knocked over 7 with heart shots in one session 2 days ago but it must have been 3 from one herd and 4 from another as I didn't get the achievement. Again, any ideas about how to improve my chances?

But that's because Red hinds naturally form groups which are then "acquired" by the dominant male after the rut. What they've done is copy the natural behaviour. You might occasionally find a smaller, non-threatening male tagging along, and you might also find small groups of beta males (e.g. 2-3) together, but mostly the hinds live in herds with the fawns and last year's juveniles if they haven't split off yet, and the stags are solitary.

yeah I just loaded a .44 because I'm headed out on Cuatro. The .357 is useful once you have the goshawk as it subs for the Ranger on 2-3s when space requires. Not a great wolfstopper though

well goose hunting is a piece of cake as long as you set everything up right. You basically place 20 goose decoys in the middle of any strawfield on Hirschfelden, and geese will start landing there. The caller isn't necessary. I put a tripod right next to them and wait for the geese to land or get close and start shooting. I use shotguns and the Virant, but it's also a good way to get easy kills with the .22 pistol

OK - gonna ask again about Peppe's Challenge as no-one replied yesterday - can someone tell me whether the 5 heart shots have to be in sequence? reason I'm asking is I just tracked what I thought was the same herd for about 8k around the map - took about 2½ hours - and I got six heart shots from them. No achievement. So I'm guessing either that they weren't one herd, or that a male I shot third maybe wasn't part of the herd even if the other 5 were, and that screwed it up. Can anyone offer any thoughts? (Please!)

Most missions require that you pass harvest check though there are a few which allow you not to

To pass the harvest check, you need to:
-Use proper ammo
-hit a vital organ
-don’t damage the trophy organ
-shoot animal no more than twice

(Second and third are irrelevant for all birds and ducks btw)

You are failing the first check by using buckshot on the pheasant

Any of the following ammo will pass that check:
-.22LR
-.410, 20ga, 16ga, 12ga, and 10ga birdshot
-the smallest arrow size for all bows

While I hunt with a bow a lot, and have shot a duck in the air a couple times, that would be difficulty level 11, and even I wouldn't make a habit of it.
