What Rap said. I don't even see it as an easy way to grind for new players, as I'd think most of them wouldn't have the tenacity to grind for hours on end. Sure, a bit of goose grinding helps with money and weapon score, but I doubt any new player would utilize it to immediately grind from 1 to 60, as it is still boring.

It took me about a month to level fully but that’s because I took the time to explore the game entirely

To players who know the game inside and out, leveling is a breeze because we know how to efficiently and effectively. It will take a bit before some level fully because the game is brand new to them and I think that’s how it’s supposed to be

Yes, a new player would much rather walk around the map and explore, than sit there and hunt geese for 10 hours+
But for experienced players, this is a perfect way to efficiently grind after starting a fresh run for whatever reason. I'd leave the spawn-rates as is. Just my opinion though.

I must say, it made hunting musk deer a LOT easier when I learned that the elk caller works on them 😅

From the skill description I thought that it was just random, so using any caller might attract some random animal in the area of effect for that particular caller. But apparently that's not the case.

They will still land. Usually I'll have it lay down, so it doesn't run around and get in the way (don't know if it might scare them, the only animal that has ever shown a reaction to my dog was a bear that got too close to it), so do that and you're golden

However, the level of an animal is a fairly reliable predictor of diamond potential or not (excluding some species that troll like there’s no tomorrow like reindeer)

hello, i have a couple of questions about need zones and animal quantity. So I have played COTW for about a week now, discovered most of the Layton Lakes map, and some need zones aswell. The question that I have is: do animals spawn more frequently/ in larger herds the more need zones I discover and the longer I play the game. I have watched a couple of youtube videos about the game and I understand that I am not that experienced as those players but even if i crawl on the ground all the time (to not spook any animals) I never find herds that big. Should I just continue discovering more need zones so that more animals spawn, or am I doing something wrong? And if I am doing something wrong, can anyone reccomend a good guide? Thanks in advance

on animals with TruRACS support, they actually have a button at the top of the harvest screen called "TRUSCORE" where you can see exactly what contributed to trophy rating, which usually boils down to the size, mass, spread, and complexity of the antlers/horns

I got lucky at the beaches, so try searching those areas for drink zones. You don't have to shoot the deer from bridge itself, so move freely around. Also at the beach you get a much better chance of being the required 200m away from the deer and still actually seeing it (for being able to shoot it), than in the forest 😄

The grizzly is considered to be a subspecies of the brown bear in most cases. They are treated separately in the Boone and Crockett system too. Don't worry too much about the in game trophy rating, it's just an arbitrary system the game uses to calculate your medal. There is no reason to compare how different animals score.

here's a few tips that might come in handy:

1. max out all the perks that reduce aim wobble or extend the time you can hold your breath
2. Crouch or go prone when its practical to do so
3. dont fight the aim wobble. instead, time your shot so that you pull the trigger when the crosshair (or desired point of aim) goes over the animal
