I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a big issue that's keeping me from playing the game and I don't know what to do:

So I ran into the issue that while the game starts up fine, it gets stuck on the loading screen before the menu. The animations stop, the music cuts out and it basically freezes my computer since I can't open task manager and when I try to tab out I get a black screen, meaning I have to restart my PC.
This has happened four out of five times I started the game and leaves me completely unable to play it.
My system should meet the requirements to run it easily and I have verified the files already.

I'm hoping I can be helped somehow.

My friend and I started playing this resently. But whenever we do a private game with just the two of us her sounds break in the game. Not by going away but getting loud and broken, very laggy. I do have much better connection so hosting has not been a problem till now. But when on a public game of some randoms game they worked perfectly. my typical approach is
crouch-sprint, until 100m away
crouch-walk until 50ish meters away, if there is vegetation to hide your line of sight. If exposed, crouch-walk until 75ish meters and then crawl-sprint
slowcrawl until 25-30m away.

That's for moose. other things I tend to get to 30-60m away and use a caller

Interesting, when I played Yukon, I shot lots of Caribou where you circled green (as well as moose and bison). The right side where the wetlands begin has so much Caribou on my map. Moose in the middle and bison on the left

for the same weight, there's the 12ga O/U which packs more OOMPH

Hunting pressure never goes away with time, you need to increase pressure in other areas to reduce it. In other words, go somewhere else and kill shit.

I am redownloading it on my pc now as i've spent most the day on the xbox playing it, i just think it would be better on pc. It will not hit then, that's 100m difference, at 200 I'd zero to 150 (only 50m difference) and then slightly compensate by aiming a bit higher, really just a bit though. You'll figure out by how much. If it's really only 50m, I'd try to get in the 150m range though. For a perfect shot, it's best to get to zeroing range (75, 150 or 300m on the dot)

Any tips on catching coyotes on Layton lake? I have a mission to harvest two but I have only ever caught a glimpse of one once out of the entire time I’ve been playing

I don't have too much experience with coyotes but I think they behave the same as red fox, so if you call them in, they a) have a low chance of reacting to your call (also don't spam the caller, once will do, then wait) and b) try to circle you to get your scent, so an enclosed hunting stand that will mask your scent (idk if normal tripods etc do the same but I don't think so) would be best.
But I think the best method to hunting fox (or coyote I guess) is to simply go to lakes during their drink times and spot them from a distance, then take the shot at a distance, without even calling them

My first step when hunting coyote is to go to the water sources in the area at around 3-3:30am. circumnavigate them looking for drinking zones; they might still be there, but if you don't know where to expect them they'll notice you before you notice them. If you can't pick up drinking zones in a given area, your next best bet is feeding zones. Idk what the programming logic is for these, but I'd say they tend to be near jackrabbit need zones, and tend to be in small clearings between trees. I mostly find them near-ish to water, but not right alongside; however this could be sampling bias because I generally hunt near water. I'd go looking for feed zones at around nightfall, and again around daybreak (the times are roughly 4:00-7:00, and 17:30-20:20)

What @shy fjord said. Also the reason drink zones are so important is 1. They are in my experience more reliable than feed or rest zones, and more importantly 2. You most often have a clear shot and the animals are easier to spot, which is especially true for small animals like coyotes

Once you have zones, or if you really can't find zones just when you're near water at night time, this is my process:
-Time arriving at a zone to be about 0.5-2 hours after it becomes active - so for a drinking zone between 00:30 and 2am
-Always approach from downwind. They have excellent smell, and will rarely approach if they can smell you no matter how much you call
-once you're within ~100m of the zone, slow down as much as you can while not being prone. If you're prone you won't see them, if you're too noisy they'll hear you because they have the best ears in the reserve
-I actually do somewhat spam the caller usually. I let it off at 20-30second intervals; when I've observed how coyotes I can see react to the call, they don't move far towards you after each individual call and they lose interest quickly
-If you hear them or spot them, try and stay planted to the spot somewhere where there's more open terrain between you and them - e.g., tree on the edge of a clearing. If you aren't in full cover (visibility icon is a flat line), then it's a real race to spot them before they spot you and normally they win. Note that depending on the exact zone location, this often isn't feasible, but it's a nice goal
-Try not to spend too much time switching back and forth from binocs to weapon to caller. Coyotes will bolt on a knife edge if they spook, they aren't like deer or even bears where they spend a while looking at you to make sure. I've missed plenty of coyote kills because I didn't have my weapon out in time. Unless you hear them call and they're moderately far away, you should probably just be switching to your caller when you use it, and spend the rest of the time with your weapon ready
-A lot of the missions require you to use a bow. Coyotes are such a small target that they're often closer than they seem when you're finally ready to shoot, so remember to aim low

I actually think coyotes are slightly easier to /spot/ at feed zones. That's because their behaviour there is to jump and run back and forth quickly and erratically. However, this in turn means they can be tricky to actually shoot; you have to be fast, an spend a while watching them so you can recognise when they've paused immediately and respond before they move again

-if you've called, you hear a coyote and you don;t see it, it will pretty much always be trying to get behind you, so widen your visual sweep
-following a coyote overland /can/ work if you have the skills for quieter movement. and you spam the caller. But it will be difficult; coyote tracks are often confusing (I recommend the skill to link up track marks on your map), and keeping pace without spooking them is really tricky. I've tried it several times, usually unsuccessfully; you get a couple chances to shoot at best and they're short.
-honestly, if you're good at hitting a moving target, you /can/ catch up to a coyote by just belting at it at top speed. I've never successfully harvested like this tho

With both I've discovered that calling once is enough, to get them somewhat close, and then once more if they are behind a tree or something. I think if I spam it, there's a higher chance that they start fleeing, maybe that's just a wrong perception though

@feral sable check this out, though beware there might be some problems with it, as I immediately noticed that the Sika deer is under the red deer caller when you have the who's deer skill, but in game it says that it responds to it without the skill. This might be just a typo (empty line at the wrong place) or they might've changed it in game since the guide was last updated. But most of the stuff in there can be found from other sources via google as well (for ex. Whitetail Jackrabbit responds to grunt caller, Roe deer to red deer caller, musk deer to elk caller, etc. )

I don't have audio issues (except the persisting foliage bug on very rare occasions), but the framerate is worse than on other maps, specifically during dawn and in regions with many trees. Nothing like before the patch though - the reason is also bad optimization, not the bug it was before

Except that these maps have a span of what, 8-10km? Within which the wind usually stays the same

Unless ofc there's mountains or moving water or something like that in the middle, where the wind might actually change, I realize that is the case on most maps, but I doubt the wind is this realistic in the game, it's probably just "ok, you're at outpost X and the wind blows north, so if you ft to outpost Y, the wind will blow in a randomly generated, other direction", which is fine imo
