Running scares animals away from around 200 m away roughly you can walk till I think 120 crouch to around 80-100 and you can crawl slowly all the way up to around 10 m

Hi all. Just got COTW and enjoyed it but after 30+ hrs, a sound issue has appeared. When I play on reserves other than Layton, after 10 mins or so into the game, there suddenly is no sound at all. No ambient sounds, no footsteps, no animal calls, lures don't make sound. Sometimes even my gun shots don't make a sound. And I also notice my FPS starts to stutter. Exiting to main menu and restarting will solve the problem but will happen again in 10mins or so

does anyone know if this is a known issue and can point me to known solutions?

Lungs is best for starters neck is a pain in the ass to hit most the time

Then you can try to go for heart shots they be hard tho

How is the Great One spawning? does it only appear once in one place? or can it appear other times on the same map?

It's supposed to be based off of random chance by killing more and more deer should slowly grow for a greater chance to one pop up there is supposedly a chance you could even have one spawn in the first original spawn of the map when you started for the first time but most of the time it requires to killing a lot of deer

Average number of deer killed is between 1800 and 3,000 roughly when people get there GOS

Spinal cord shot will drop the animal on the spot (hitting only the vertebrae does not), but it does not count as vital, so you’d need to strike a lung for it to not fail the check.

Altho, necc shots are still 100% viable. Lower, middle, and upper necc all count as vitals and hitting any of the three is an instant faceplant

I used it extensively before getting any DLCs, it's surprisingly accurate at its effective range and packs a punch

and for bigger game like bison, the ability to follow up immediately is very nice

People have experienced when fast traveling to Outposts or tents ending up at some other Outpost or tent.
In the hunting lodge whitetail deer are changing to fabled piebalds if they are common and rares are turning into Commons and coyotes are changing as well and commons can be rares rares could become commons.
Whitetail deer that did not change colors whenever you put them on the plaque on the walls the ass end is on the other side of the wall it's a full body of a deer just through the wall.
People have reported falling through lookout towers and hunting stands.
You're not able to shoot the new shotgun for the first time while aiming you have to hit fire it or something like that for you to start working it was kind of funny last night.
If you have it turned on particles are not showing up on tracks or anything like that and it is by far my most hated bug I've ever encountered in this game trying to track bobcats on the new map or anything with small tracks on any map is a pain in the ass for me render glitch didn't aggravate me this much.
People has also reported having technical/performance issues as well with some maps vurhonga seems to be the worst.

Tracking blood is not the hard part it's trying to see the little tracks when actually stalking an animal whenever it's bleeding I can at least find it but the bloodhound don't track normal tracks only tracks blood

Mostly look at them and see what you want different people have different choices on those they tell you what they do and just see if that fits your preference I do highly recommend choosing the perk to where he has a chance of straight away finding the carcass and the one where he skips older tracks for newer ones

If anyone is in need of Mule Deer. The mountain lake in the top right corner has loads. The small lake has 2 afternoon drink zones. 14:00 to 17:00 appr. Also turkey, rabbit and coyote. It is forested and I had placed a blind at the brink of the lake at the northern end. Had to stop shooting animals before I eradicated the zones.

@sacred flower You get a total of 22 skill points, so it is possible to balance both skill trees, however it's unlikely you'll be able to get the top tier active perks.

Honestly, neither top tier sounds particularly more useful to me than the lower tiers. The stalker top tier does sound a bit more useful than the ambush top tier. 🤔

Too bad the ambush tree starts with that scent skill... That sounds like the worst one.
