Just walk thru the north mid area of map around the lake. Wolves will show up early morning sometimes mid day and late evening. If they turn aggressive and come right at you just start hammering pics it will eventually pass the mission

The 7mm is a little bit stronger, but it's break action. Both option can do the job just fine. The .300 would be the best though.

These are animals randomly "dropping" in at specific points well within my render distance, running to a specific spot, and then doing a 180° to go (presumably) to their need zone

I'm watching it happen with my ibex rn from 3 specific points, and I watched it happen to red deer as well

They just kind of... spawned into existence right around 00:45

Both seemed to spit out about 2-3 herds worth of animals before it stopped

like those three just poofed in, turned, and started wandering off. But those three points + one thats slightly closer to the bank, has been spitting them out for about 30m ig time

and I can see them running off over the crest of the hill before they go out of render distance, so they're not running towards me, stopping, and then turning around.

When I was watching the red deer, they were closer to 300m, so I know they weren't travelling from somewhere into my render distance.

I am so confused.

some time ago I stumbled upon a spot in hirschfelden where I'd see how a ton of wildboar spawned, and they were well within the render distance... it was some time in the morning

they didn't spawn all at once, but one now and then

one of my faverate treestand spots in Mediva tiega.. it has a slow rise clear veiw all round from very high open trees.. and as a channel for hunted game.. you don't often have to wait to long before something comes through.. be it deer or bear..

and one of my best morning feral pig ground hide spots.. useing a bird blind.. i sit at the road caller.. and feral pigs, fallow and even rabbits all around.. in the morning hours you can make a killing on so many hogs..

I've found that if you're just walking and looking you will most likely spook it. You kind of have to know where you're looking. The savannah is not as forgiving with wind/noise as the other maps.

Haven't played that yet, was testing Yukon first.

@chilly sundial Use the ammo suitable for the for your kill, it will give you more points/xp/cash. Check your ammo it will show classes 1-9 . 1 is small game and 9 is large game.

Why are all my red deer need zones on Hirschfelden getting replaced by roe deer and other garbage almost immediately? It's impossible to hunt these damn things.

to me, the most relevant in terms of gameplay are the maps
having a bigger variety of weapons is nice, and some of the dlc weapons are the best in their category; however, your gameplay won't change substantially, not as much as it'll do exploring a new map, with different scenery and different animals

then there are a few equipment dlc's that are important: tents (mobile outposts), tripods/hunting grounds and atv's if you're annoyed having to unlock outposts on foot

to me the best way to buy stuff for this game is over time, a couple of them at a time

you won't play all maps at the same time, each of them offers a ton of hours of fun

similarly, I think it's ok to get used to the base game weapons, their flaws and advantages, before deciding which weapon pack will be more useful to your playstyle

I guess you'll have to figure that out yourself, since it's a matter of taste
I myself would never play with strangers, especially considering most of them use mods, which aren't supported; people often complain here of being kicked without a reason, etc.
I'm not sure this is the best community in the world in that regard
if you have friends to play with, that's a different story
in any case, the game is 100% enjoyable as a solo experience (to me, better than mp in any case)

The need zone will disappear and reappear wherever the animal respawns, it can be the same spot, it can be different it can get attached to an existing need zone.

No one really knows how spawns work. Sometimes it does seem to work that way, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes animals just spawn at a completely different need zone and their initial need zone will slowly die. Based on my own experience it's random for the most part.

For example, I just shot a black tail buck w a trophy rating of 80.40, where the number for silver is 76.90,but he was only a bronze.

if you look at the hunt check, if you don't meet all the requirements for that hunt/animal (like wrong ammo, no vital hit, more than two shots, etc) then it will downgrade the medal by 1 step.

so if you see a gold elk, and use the wrong ammo and dont hit a "vital" it will downgrade to silver. But the actual scoring of the animal won't change, just the medal you receive.

Hey guys. Are there any "preferred locations" for level 7 Red Deer in Hirschfelden? I've spotted a few around different locations but there's not much consistency

not sure if this is the place to raise this issue, but here I ago. I was streaming the game yesterday and for whatever reason the game was demanding so much GPU that it was swinging around 98 99% of usage, meaning that together with my streaming software (OBS) I pretty much couldn't do it decently. The frames (streaming) were dropping to 40, 30FPS. Today in the morning I tinkered with some settings still the same, but I also relaunched the game a few times and in one of those attempts the GPU was lingering only at around 50%. Any ideas?

If you are lvl 28 just forget about the grind and just level up while enjoying the game. Maybe do some story missions. You don't have to force yourself to grind for diamonds if you don't enjoy that, just go for any cool racks you like. Don't let an artificial pat on the head medal to kill the game for you.

I don't understand the Zeroing perk

It sets your zero (your center dot in case of rifle scopes) to a certain distance. If you set it to 150 m the center dot will shoot accurately at 150 m, if you set it to 300 m your center dot will shoot accurately for 300 m etc. (If you set it wrong, you rifle will shoot low or high). Basically it compensates for the bullet drop for you, otherwise you would have to aim that much higher to compensate for it.

someone posted here a table showing the chances of diamonds and rares, the former were 1 out of 1000
I don't know how reliable it is, but the bottom line is hunting big trophies in cotw is all about grinding
of course, if you buy a map and it comer with 4 diamonds, or an update spawns 1 go on your game, that's a different story but it's an exception, the important thing is how difficult it is to spawn by normal means

It's an unofficial agreement were if you find an animal on your map you can trade it to someone else that means they will kill and taxidermize the animal and in turn trade an animal that you guys agreed with before hand off of his map.
I dont like to do it because I like to earn my diamonds not trade them and it can get a little sketchy considering all they have to do is go to your map kill the animal and then never talk to you again.

Pack 1 has the .22LR, which is almost a necessity for duck and rabbit hunting

Pack 2 is what i often recommend for beginners because it has the drilling rifle which can take up to class 9 without much issue, and it has a 3-9x scope.

Pack 3 has the .30-06 rifle, which is still good, but it has lost favor to the M1. it also has a .22 pistol

Smoking Barrels has the M1, which is almost without argument the best medium game rifle in the game

Pack 2 has the mosin, which used to be an REALLY good rifle, and still remains solidly competitive. also has a .45 Long Colt/.410 Revolver

Smoking Barrels has a 10ga shotgun, which absolutely SHREDS geese when using it with birdshot, and a caplock muzzleloader, which is deceptively powerful and takes an eternity to reload

SRP is probably better in terms of animal variety.

there's other maps too. Vurhonga Savannah is one of my all-time favorite maps. Cuatro Colinas is another pretty solid map, and the newly-released Te Awaroa is cool as well

Cuatro Colinas, despite having no large game animals, still has pretty good animal variety, plus the challenge of grinding for the Grand Slam (a male of each of the four types of ibex)

it also has three mission-exclusive wolves

lemme just say that having a pack of aggressive wolves right in front of you is TERRIFYING

Tough choice, Yukon has the .300 which is a lovely rifle and a nice map. The weapons packs I'd recommend is either 1 (for the .22 rifle) or smoking barrels (for the M1 Garand and muzzleloader).

Lots of fun things to do in the game. Silver Ridge will let you shoot turkey, Yukon will give you a .300 rifle, Te Awaroa is great as the feral pigs are a blast to shoot, Suvhanna is a great map with fun and challenging animals too

I’m a little confused, I’ve been playing on Layton single player for a while now. I just started my first multiplayer Layton with friends but I have all of my same progress, same outposts and weapons etc

What’s the difference between multiplayer reserves and single player?

Is it just different animals?

When you host MP, you basically share your map to other players. But each players progression is their own, even in MP. So you will see the same outposts, skills etc in MP as in SP.

if you join a multiplayer session, you're joining someone else's world, and the animals on that session will be the ones from their world

for instance, if you join a multiplayer session that I hosted, you will be seeing my animal population

Trivial female Roe deers. I always harvest them, they act as a radar, shoot em and you'll see whatever else was hiding out there. Also females can spawn into males and trivials into very easy.

if your layton is messed up go to your steam right click on the hunter call of the wild and go to properties after that uncheck the box that saves cloud then go to your file explorer go to documents click avalanche studios go to COTW click saves then click on the random number right click and add it to a rar for a backup of what you have then double click the long number find you animal spawn files delete all of them and they will recreate themselves when you play there yah go
