Yeah i checked out some random tips before and thats what most people are saying but when i went there it was nothing and then i called for 30 mins and nothing happend. Then i went afk for another 20 mins and came back and called even more.

Not that I know of.. I probably did the mission about 6 weeks ago or so.
They are skittish, so you might be scaring if off when you go in. And typically, they jet out and are gone.

@sonic ore its faint always and at night on the first map. I cant say for sure if u can hear it anywhere but its up in the NE quadrant and there are alot of coyotes around there

My DLCs are broken and I need some help desperately. I started up the game, a couple of hours ago it was working fine. Now my decoys for geese, my layout blinds, everything is gone. I can't use any of the DLC maps even though they're listed in the Xbox store as installed. My weapon packs are also disabled. Can someone help?

I actually just did that one. I spawned at the lodge and crept through at night. I set a waypoint on where i want to go and as i creep (keeping the hide meter at the point where u have a horizontal line with a half circle under it, u typically have to slow a bit) and call every time i can spot a decent spot with good view lines. OR every time im 100m closer to my waypoint. That way i basically blanket the area with calls as i go.
Coyotes have great sight so u have to go slow and listen for the footsteps and freeze when u hear them and just wait.

@grave merlin With certain perk you can see the animals weight from tracks. It doesn't show exact weight but estimate weight range so you can tell which tracks are potentially best.

MP is good with friends but otherwise it's the same mostly, just in other players maps and their need zones and animal spawns. Missions are a good way to get xp, money and places to explore.

Heres some useful info i collected but from my experience thus far which hasnt been alot depending on the visual indicator is what matters in terms of them seeing you and being under trees and bushing will make you invisible to 5m but even if they cant see you and you make a loud noise or sniff you they spook
But i try to use cover as much as possible even if im standing so full circle and behind a big rock it doesnt seem to spook animals but 50 m isnt far at all so imo use noise and smell mostly and cover if possible stay low i try to use big rocks etc seems to help but im not sure
You can practically just walk around the map slowly and not disturb anything if you get a warning call you know that animal was just 30m away and heard you or 50 m away and seen you if it was downwind they smelled u
I stand out in the open just under a tree so they have to come in at 5m to normally see me aslong as i dont move or they smell me i normally hunt with bows and the crossbow at 10 to 50m

Thats a good question but i like to think so 😅 either way if you were crouched they would come in to around 25m anyways

I normally use trees and shrubs as cover and move around rocks to be stealthy but the truth of the matter is if you dont make a loud noise you could walk around and be around 30 to 50m way closer than you need for any weapon in the game once they get that close just crouch under a tree i use bows so i let them get about 30 to 15m and take a double lung

Yea im newish to the game but i havent played long at all and i am close to buying the most expensive rifle and the calls and scents arent that much nor is the tents or stands which only allow you to rack in alot more money i enjoy the game alot the only grindy thing is getting some good rares
I got all the DLCs but play often on the beginner map the game is well built i enjoy it alot the classic was harsh especially if u didnt want to pump irl money in game but i played years ago the classic maybe it changed

Can duck hunting only work at Need zones? I've tried multiple lakes, had decoys, blind and caller, but I have set to see a single duck

Yea i did the math for a albino great one was around 1 in 100 million the albino diamond would be around 1 in a million roughly
But considering you can herd manage and play smart you could easily keep a good herd and knock a few off and let respawn killing roughly a few hundred a month or 2 from it or surrounding herds so in a year you can easily kill over a thousand or so

Try a different mission then go their or load another reserve so the game is forced to reload animals and tracks to their position from old need zones

What i was told is to continue to find need zones and more animals will spawn which made that very unclear however in my opinion im about ready to kill all the 1 animal hurds in hope they come back as 2 or 3 so at that point i can possibly kill one or 2 from the hurd and it will grow
It would wipe that need zone but in just a day or 2 if you hunt down need zones you will find tons and tons not hard pretty much what i did but im still wondering the same thing

How do I stop mallard need zones from dissapearing?
I had a good spot that I only got to use for an hour, because out of no where the need zone dissapeared

A few ways when hunting pressure gets to high the need zone disappears and the animal can no longer go to that area to get their necessity peacefully and will go elsewhere
So to prevent disappearing need zones is dont kill more then 2 animals as upon the death of the 3 animal in the same area the hunting pressure gets to high and the area on the map turns pink and all animals will avoid the location
It helps using blinds or stands etc as u can kill more animals without the hunting pressure rising to quick i also believe if you get to many need zones right next to eachother they get wonky and the animal may go elsewhere could be wrong tho

Yes if you are not using a blind or stand etc
I have multiple need zones for them just use a structure and you can take out the whole flock easily without destroying the need zone just make sure to leave 1 or 2 so it doesnt delete the need zone as if you kill a whole hurd their wont be any more to continue to use the zone

I think when they do a population adjustment they move, they normally will state something when they are doing this. pretty sure there was something in one of the previous patch notes when the whitetail got 'spread out' on layton

I usually set a tent up near each of them so i can hop around the map to them when the time they are expected gets close if the flock is real big ill throw a blind next to the tent or a tree stand so it doesnt wipe the zone

I don't know the exact number but you would be aiming higher in a realistic situation. Now this being COTW, I've been zeroed in at 300m on a 450m shot and didn't even have to adjust. It can be weird but I suggest just learning it with whatever rifle you're mainly using so you know what you gotta do when the time comes.

I've always seen it as the lower caliber gun I use, the higher I have to aim. But I only take long range shots if getting 100-150m closer isn't possible.

In the spreadsheet i included the range for animals picking up your scent how loud each bar is and what the visibility bar is
So you know when u can be smelled seen and heard
Just keep in mind when walking through vegetation and foliage will increase 1 bar

They are never not traveling or at a need zone

If you go to your map it should show where the last spotted animal was (if you spotted it) and if their is no purple area around it or where you shot the animal you didnt kill it sometimes its just hard searching the area and finding the right tracks in a popular area helps if you spotted the animal so its tracks and blood will glow just keep looking in the area you will find it if you did kill it if not couldve ran a good ways
Its also a common bug no tracks or blood shows up

Its a good deal rather then buying all the dlc 1 by 1 its a bundle so you get almost all dlc for alot cheaper i got the 2021 then just bought the other few if you already bought a few dlc might be worth looking at what dlc is included in the 2021 and the 2019 to see what would be a better deal bc the weapon packs and cuatro etc are all in the 2021 edition

You can see, and kill, any animal in the game, regardless of level. However, if you are at a low level, the tougher animals (moose for example) might not die so easy without better weapons that you get at higher levels.

Couple tips I can give. Don't run. You will make so much noise that animals will hear you and bolt before you even had an idea they were there. Pay attention to the wind and keep it on your face so animals can't smell you easily and spook. Going around water is a good strategy since they are usually more open and you can spot animals from a far.
Getting a call from an animal is the best way to determine where they are so follow those but walking / crouching so they won't run away.

Night is a lot harder to hunt. There are certain species that are more active at night like wild boar, foxes and coyotes. But usually it's easier at day since you can see easier.
Read from the codex in game about the animals. Good info about the animals there.

Picture missions are just super tedious. Make sure there’s absolutely no foliage and it’s a clear shot of the whole animal. And then just spam photo like 300 times and eventually the game will like one angle

is there a technique to finding need zones? I'm new and I've been walking around and rarely finding animals and I've been told to populate my map with need zones for animals to appear more often

im unsure, but try to go near lakes and rivers, sometimes you see animals drinking
if you spot them you should get a needzone for that

i think its mostly luck. make sure you use the propper weapon and ammo and then shoot the biggest thing in the group in a vital organ
the animals need to have a certain trophy score, afaik you cant influence that
