Hello i just set up some magpie goose devoys and eventually after a few flocks came through i saw a melanistic but it was scared off by a croc that came back whats the best way to try to get that specific flock back

i would try to move the decoys away a bit so it doesn’t spook again, but you just have to keep shooting them till it shows up, stay in the same general area don’t go too far away

No idea what he was doing - but I was watching the flock come closer to their feed zone and I lined up on one and I guess he thought we were both shooting a bird because he was right below my stand

and then he got miffed that I didnt say when I was shooting/mark the bird, so when I plinked with the .22 the flock took off

he was like 'Babe we're hunting TOGETHER'

Go slow, don't run. If you hear a warning call immediately drop to the ground. Those buildable structures are pretty much useless and when you build one you scare everything away up to 200m or so. Oh, and go slow. Don't run. Don't use ATVs. Take your time.

Most consistent and easiest way to find animals is to just go to drink zones

So if you really can't find anything, do that

ATV running through POI's and some quests worked for me at start. Was nice to open map first

And make sure to use the right gun. You can see the class coverage on your gun in the weapon wheel. You can see the class of the animal in the top right corner when you spot it, it'll be a little circle with a number in it, not the "2-minor"

If the animal's class isn't covered by your gun, don't shoot it

Not really, you can have fun without any DLCs. I'd recommend the atv tho because otherwise it will take ages to unlock the map. Also, the base game lacks good weapons for some classes (for example class 1 and 9) so if you want to you can take a look into the weapon packs.

Also tents are nice to fast travel but you can absolutely play without them

usually you use stronger weapons for non-trophies so they drop faster, those weapons can be wayyy stronger than class requires (so it would be fine to use 7-9 class weapon for 4 class animal)

and well "weaker" for trophies because then you use weapons actually dedicated to animal classes you hunt, so they pass harvest checks

If you have the DLCs- feeders and the pointer may be exceptional for you. A max leveled pointer is able to track down specific species so all you’d need to do is find one coyote track and set your dog to find it. If it’s not in the right region just utilize a caller. Easy peasy.

Going out to scout zones can help a lot too. Just gettin the hang of where they are.

As a side note, if you need to kill a coyote in zone B but it’s zone is in zone A- you could potentially shoot the one in zone A and hope it moves a bit closer to Zone B

None of the maps are inherently bad, it's always best to form your own opinion. Others are biased by playstyle and what they enjoy and spout it as gospel and the only truth. Each map has its merits and if you adapt to how the map plays they are all good

but i think it is a personal preference if you want to set up for a whole coast tho, im not sure how close animals can get to you before running away

you could also set up some tents for fast travel and set a tripod whenever you see something worth shooting, then just pick it up and go

Probably because it’s been fixed once and they’ll likely just do their best to keep fixing it. It hasn’t been in the game for years- it’s been a few months. I expect we may see something about it within the next week through patch notes honestly

Ahh, thanks for the info! I didn't know they had fixed it once already. I just know I've been having issues since even before Revontuli came out and that was over 3 years ago. Couldn't get a single duo or trio of people to hunt any ducks or geese unless they were each nearly half way across the map from each other, and even then it would have issues at times with them landing or spawning.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a hopeful new fix!

Oh goodness, that’s massively unfortunate. You sent in a bug report about it too, yea? I haven’t heard of folks having issues on Rev, myself. That’s helpful to know though, as it may be more map specific. The bug you’re experiencing also may not be a super widespread one so more reports can be especially helpful to get it seen to as many peeps as possible. if you’d like the link I can pop it in here. :)

I was successfully shooting geese on salz, birds on Rev, etc in the last couple years so they’ve definitely somewhat fixed it for people. That’s good news though, they probably will be able to fix it for everyone with that info. I hope it’s included in the next patch. That sucks if that’s what ya get up to normally.

Yeah I can make a new report if need be, i know i reported it way back when but it's been a while. I just got a couple new friends back into it so we've tried and noticed still same thing, but it was on multiple maps: New England, Yukon, Revontuli, the new Scottland one, and Alberta. Haven't taken them to others yet.

3. Climb a stand/tripod and animals will instantly spawn on their zones

I used that for moose grind on medved

They don’t always come in 100% of the time though, even the way you’re saying. You might notice it more if you’re going after certain species though. I know wolves enjoy steadily coming into their zones most of the time, for example, but can also be found using the “feature” you’re describing

Can someone explain the difference between single player and multiplayer? Can you still get rares and great ones etc? Is the progression shared? Like safe houses etc? It confuses me

Multiplayer is exactly like single player except there are more people on the map. The map is always the private map of the host so everyone is a guest and shooting his animals at his zones etc. You can still get rares and GOs. If you unlock an outpost on the map of someone else (aka in multiplayer that you don't host) it still is unlocked in your private map (I think) but not the drink zones or anything else because the animals are entirely different. Yes on being able to still get trophies. If you have outposts/lookout posts u locked on your map or someone elses multiplayer, they’ll be unlocked on yours too. You can also find other people’s need zones in MP but they won’t transfer to your singleplayer map.

So equipment you’ve put on someone’s map will typically get transferred back into your inventory when you leave, but there is a recurring bug atm (maybe not for everyone) that can cause them to just… disappear

If that happens to you, you can make a ticket about it. More reports help a lot. It was happening a bit more last year but it got fixed.
