in my experience it’s luck of the draw or herd management. watch herd management for dummies on youtube- what i watched and helped me tremendously but then go down the respawn loophole. its all rng but you can convince the game that ur map sucks so it spawns more. I also found about 10 or so diamond ducks very fast on the bird map, tripod and electronic caller

Try searching drink zones, use right gun, make sure to pass the harvest check, they'll turn up eventually. There's also a lot of beginner guides on finding trophies.

What i noticed is that between 16 ish and 20 is the sweet spot because they normaly respawn in batches and not at the same time. I would say a batch is around 6 to 10 respawns. So it can be that this batch of respawns is somewhat higher then what you normaly get and so it isnt respawned.

Just finish the run. It will probably spawn the next run.

Well depends entirely on what you personally enjoy. Like winter? Try askiy ridge. Want an easy map? Go Silver ridge peaks or te awaroa. Like exotic animals? Go for Sundarpatan.
The maps are pretty much all good, maybe the oldest 5 not so much but they're still very enjoyable. @hallow aurora

there is a lot of water, but also a lot of open hills which makes hunting easy.

the southern part of the map is SUPER good for duck hunting too. Especially that little island bottom right

I've found 3 common ways that are pretty reliable:

1: roam the map, leave an area to be you're "main" area where you feel it's easiest to land a shot. Start harvesting the highest rated in a herd/group, repeat, then check the herds in your main area. "Herd management", if you want to grind for legendaries/GO

2: Just roam the map, set lookout points/collectables/hunting stuctures as goals. hunt the high levels as you go. You'll run into a legendary/mystical eventually. I like this method as it feels less grindy, and won't make you go insane. Just focus on leveling and completing the map. practice an off weapon. Once you find a legendary, you can travel back to an outpost, outfit with your regular gear, and go off again.
-Do not close the game in between finding a legendary and getting gear.

3: Complete storylines/quests. You'll have the oppronunity to nail a Diamond at the end of them usually.

Herd management is basically finding all your zones, setting up on 8 good ones (ones with 2 males and 3-4 females) that you set as interiors then shooting down your exteriors until they're low levels to make the animals in your interiors bigger to hopefully get bigger spawns

You’re not really going to fully understand herd management until you’ve played a bit and observed things, to be real. Kips spot on with the way to start HMing a grind though.

If it helps, another way to think of herd management is that it’s like a balancing act. More big animals of x species on map means you’ll get more mid-low respawns. More small animals of x species on map will get you higher lvl/scoring respawns. Use that knowledge to inform your methods and tweak things as you go

But from all the years that I’ve played, it would appear they attack randomly

But if it isn’t random, it might have something to do with whether or not a shot is fired and or wind direction the amount of noise you’re making all of this stuff

However, I have had wolves attack me after shooting a moose, so yeah

And I’ve also had them literally come up the middle of the wind direction thing

However, there have been occasions where I fire one shot at them and they run away and then there are other occasions where they fight until the last wolf

I have also observed that if you kill the biggest wolf in the group, sometimes they all run away and other times they just become more frenzied for some reason

The whole concept is to make your main zones have the best animals with the most consistent respawns. True herd management involves finding all your zones and shooting down all your animals until just your main zones are stacked

Because that's the main goal of herd management. To manage your herds until you have a few specific spots that have the best animals and consistent respawns. And you get there by shooting down all your exterior zones

You can't. They spawn randomly and you shoot them down many times until all the respawns in the exteriors are small and all the respawns in the main zones are big. Takes time. But as soon as you have it, you only shoot in your main zones and only big ones respawn

Uh, find all your zones. Set up on the best zones (ones with at least 1-2 males and 3-4 females). Shoot down all your exteriors to low levels. Then shoot big animals in your main zones. Rinse and repeat.

Tripods and treestands are great for managing hunting pressure. Helps a lot with grinds for that reason but you can use em in any context where you want to keep returning to that area to shoot.

Treestands can be placed up on a tree to give you a maaaassive viewing window

If you like snow, go for Alberta. I think it's quality wise definitely the better reserve. For me personally I don't like snow that much so I'd go for Scotland. Either way, you can't make a mistake by going for either of them as they both are very good reserves.

like start time at 11am always and just run top down, left to right, once youve searched everything run it again bottom up, right to left

it took me A WHILE to get ALL of my zones
