I am doing all my grinds without herd management, I like too make it feel more realistic, you can do herd management in real life and just spawn a big buck. Like what you gotta find them or hope they come out

They need too fix the damn dogs, I am in the Mississippi hunter gators and my dog THE ENTIRE TIME "GRRRRRR" "GRRRRRRR" "GRRRRRRR" He wanted too be like the gators DEAD. you can't concentrate on sounds of gators when you got dog making crazing sounds behind you.

Doesn't matter if it's single player or multiplayer, if you own the map on multiplayer or not, everything you do will be saved

Personally I’d just stick to regular shooting for a first grind , herd management can be frustrating and intense , you don’t want to get burnt out on your first grind

There’s no evidence that herd management spawns great ones faster
It’s pretty much just to increase the dime rate and make the grind more streamlined

Chances for a super rare (diamond and a rare fur) are higher with herd management but … you can still very much get one without , I got a super rare boar in under 200 kills without any hm

Rlly depends how you enjoy playing the game , do you wanna get on and shoot stuff or do you wanna collect data and keep track of the entire population

Te Awaroa is a great map for grinding red deer and/ or fallow! Nice open zones

Shoot the larger animals
With fallow I would shoot big threes and up

Red deer big sixes and up

Leave the smaller animals , if a zone eventually only has little ones then you can pack up your hunting structures and move on

I’d suggest start on Layton, follow the story missions , explore the map, try and unlock every lookout tower (which will reveal the map further) and the outposts

Let me forward over some hotspot maps for Layton , you’ll wanna be hunting drink zones , that’s where you can find the most animals with the clearest shots

I mean if you have the atv dlc you can use that to unlock outposts and towers , but it will spook every animal around you

Typically walking at full speed in the game ( you’ll know you are if the heart rate in the bottom right corner starts increasing) will begin to spook animals within 200m

There’s skills such as soft feet that enable you to move faster for longer before spooking critters , but a core part of this game is to take your time and be observant
On some maps with a lot of brush and forests going slow through them will be core , others you can pretty much dash around and spot

It’s gonna feel slow and awkward at the beginning , I’m playing a new game right now at level 4 and it’s miles different from the max level experience !

How do you deal with solo Zones while not doing herd management?

Ignore them unless they’re max level

The reason solos are such a pain is that once they’re shot the zone will disappear - you have to refind it and it could be right where you shot the animal, it could be right across the map

You wanna minimise shooting solos as much as possible if you’re not herd managing

Ok, so if I got it right. I set up hunting structures and choose 8 Zones I want to grind on. I shoot high level 6 and not under. Anything more I gotta know?

You can start off with up to 16 zones if you are able to navigate easily enough to pick up kills

An example of when you’d need a pickup tent is if you were shooting from across a river with no crossings nearby or directly across a large lake

I try to setup on as many zones as possible , keeps things diverse , if animals haven’t shown up at zone zone I’ve got a lot more to choose from to continue shooting

Make sure you’ve found as many zones as possible before starting to “grind” grind - If you aren’t getting respawns then you may be missing some zones and you’ll wanna run the map again to pickup any stragglers

Something that can happen early in the grind is that solos are hiding in the same zone as herds , it’s impossible to tell they’re solos unless you go and pick up their track (or they’re standing really far away from the herd)
They may split off and make their own zones , so be mindful of that - if there’s no respawns , probs a solos gone and done a runner

There’s no way to pause time in the game , you can press esc to access the menu with the map, inventory and whatnot

Weapon Pack One is the WORST of all (in my opinion). I recommend a map like Te Awaroa and the tripods, so you can grind deer or fallow deer depending on what you want, or then the feeding stations and the Wild Boar (I'm going to do it today, I think) and then if you're more casual, I recommend the Modern Rifle pack, which covers classes 1-8 and with Arzyna you get to class 9, so those are good.

Mp is bugged for waterfowl.
Try a ground blind or a waterfowl blind if you have those dlcs. Ground blinds set up about 50m from where your decoys are.
Waterblind same tactic. Also keep wind direction in mind.

Sounds fine to me. Some maps don't have class 8/9 animals so it's useful to have a load out for those maps and I keep a tent/hunting stand load out handy as well.
The biggest thing for me is swapping out lures and scents and making sure I have what I need for the map I'm playing on.

If you don't already, keep your guns in the same slots so you never get confused by which gun you equip.
For me I do my 1-2 gun on button 1, binoculars on 2, 3-7 gun on 3 and my 7-9 gun on 4. If you're on a console that doesn't really matter but on keyboard and mouse it really helps with firing the correct gun.

So far they usually spawn in the same spot or not too far from it. Most of my solos are along the coast in Te. And I usually do sweeps of the entire coast every few rounds since im trying to push my herds away from the coasts and into the lakes so its no extra work for me tbh.

Im having a bit of trouble with the zarza .308, i can very well shoot a still standing deer from 300m+ exactly where i wanted to aim, but when i saw a gray wolf walking 150 meters away from me and i shot it it somehow shot to the intestines instead of the lungs (which i where i aimed). can this be because of wind?

Few things to check:

1. Make sure you taxied them - not just saved them. It costs money to taxi an animal. The 10/10 list is just your saved ones.
2. Each animal requires a different sized mount to be placed so the platform or wall plaque has to be big enough. (You can't put a red deer on a small plauqe for example.)
3. If you just have the Layton lodge that comes with the base game, there are only two "free" wall plaques that aren't species specific.

Depends on what you want trophies of and like to hunt honestly. Initials are random and can either give you some really great stuff or nothing that snazzy so focus on maps that have species you want first

That depends on the zeroing distance you're using

zeroing distance makes it, so you hit directly in the middle of the crosshair on the set distance

If you use 75m zeroing distance for a 300m shot, you need to move the scope way up

but if you use 300m zeroing distance for a 300m shot, you don't need to move your scope overlay vertically, just align the middle with your target

Think the best 3 is probably the Quist Reaper though the 243 does very well. For 5 class I often just use the .308 from the modern rifle pack. High pen, good acc and recoil for the range but there is some strong contenders like the 30-06 and 303.
