You're on Steam? They are automatically unlocked once you purchase them (there's no download).

Dogs you purchase through the Kennel using the in game shop at an outpost or tent. Guns can be found in the same shop where you get your ammo and such

The first dog is free and following cost 45k iirc. Guns from DLCs are also free but you have to "buy" them to add them to your inventory

To an outpost

Those are your lookout towers. Outposts are house icons

There should be one right next to you or nearby (if you haven't done any story at all) when you spawn in

If you're new to the game, I highly recommend taking some time to do some of the story missions on Layton/Hirsh which will guide you through the key information you need to know about the game

Go to your settings under Gameplay and make sure the "mission system" is set to on for the story stuff

I had such a lovely multiplayer experience in Vurhonga. There was this hunter who was super nice to me and even helped me get my first ever lion.

We were going to go to a separate server but I realised I didn't have an apex account to add them as a friend. While I was doing that, my house's power went out completely. I'm prone to power outages that last for hours at a time.

I'm so devastated because they probably think I just ditched them for no reason. They're probably waiting on me in their sever wondering why I never joined.

As for finding animals after they make a call, just look around from where the call came from. Animals don't move all too fast so it shouldn't be a problem. Get the perk that decreases the size of the call animation(??? or whatever it's called, the little thingy with the ((( ))) in game)

So I'm starting to understand herd management better where you don't just kill everything and try only get high levels. Does such work for predators too? to try get higher levels to spawn/for GO grinds?

and for things that go to level 9 what is the level that you should leave them alone? For red deer for example I've been killing 5 and up and leaving lower levels alone, would that work for Foxes and other level 9 difficulty animals?

Nodding! My understanding with wolf grinds is that you kill the two highest males of each pack, but I imagine for black bears/Foxes you're killing level 5 and over for fox and level 3+ for black bears?

I killed most high level 5's for wolves (55-67 kg) and kept the low 5's (lower weight estimate) and below

for my wolf grind on Yukon

I never tried to hm the others or grind the others. With fox, i'm at 1600 kills on scotland, and i tried to get most males under level 6 in lakes I don't want to hunt

How does hunting pressure affect passing birds? Not a need zone, just an empty spot with decoys and a blind. Even when it’s already a dead zone, a lot of birds still fly over at first, but their numbers keep decreasing until eventually none are left. And then no matter how much time passes before I come back, they still don’t fly there anymore.

Yes. Hunting in different areas in the map redistribute hunting pressure.

Alternatively, you can find a place thats good for waterfowl that doesnt have any need zones, set up decoys (like mallard on Layton for example), call em in and create a purposeful deadzone shooting ducks/geese to make all hunting pressure go to 1 spot.

I do this and its great to condense hunting pressure so your map is good to hunt anywhere you have good zones at

If you have decoys and/ or a caller they'll come to that deadzone as long as theyre in range of your callers. If you notice numbers decreasing, try a new spot.

Without decoys/ caller im unsure if they'll still land there. I would assume not

If you're stacking, then yes you shoot everything until its a stack(big) or a nonshooter (small), then go after your stacked.

Yes, ducks and geese. I shot all of them until there were absolutely none left in the sky, and even after 20 hours in real life, when I come back to that spot at any time, nothing is flying there.

Try a new spot to give that old spot a chance to breathe. They may not respawn in that area with a deadzone.

Hey all, I just started play Hunter and have a question. Well, I've played over 300 hrs but I just started playing the "right way" lol. I'm in Emerald Coast and going after Red Deer. I'm trying to find all of the drink zones. I know there is for sure one location where there should be a drink zone but I can't get any Red Deer to go there and spawn. Anyone know why??

I've tried going there at different times within their drink times. I've tried spawning from a tent closer. I've tried going after.

When you see maps and such showing need zone locations for a species, it is only showing their potential zone areas. Everyone has different actual need zone locations that can spawn/appear within that potential range.

So some people can have 3 zones at a lake while others have 0

iirc there are some minor differences is how each one affects your perceptibility to animals but all in all it's more preference than anything imo

I'm having issues with my feeders that I place all of a sudden or some information is in correct. I've used feeders that have worked wonderfully. I got the idea to set up a mutinjac setup on surdeptian (yeah spelling ugh) and they aren't coming into the feeders. I had the same idea with bang tang on emerald coast. Like these animals don't have complicated zones they are small the feeders are in thier feed area. I've even switched the food for banging what I've researched says they eat both types. I do use boxfeeders on maps that don't have bears. Is that the problem are there certain animals that will only eat from a post feeder?

Banteng don’t use feeders, so that’s one issue solved. For muntjac, are you set up in their homemade?

Yeah, there's a pinned comment with that info. Muntjac only eat from a post feeder with fortified pellet (according to the chart)

Yeah they are only in the bottom right rectangle on that map so it's not that difficult to cover the whole area with 8 feeders and the 400ish meter range. Like I have found 5 or so feed areas and have 4 feeders around those areas but the feeders remain full resetting the time just playing during thier feed times not even in the area and they remain full.

This is probably an old question but i have just found and started playing this game this new years. i have had several challenges all failed because i cant harvest birds with handgun. i have been using the 410/colt 45 and that does not work how do you completely these challenges? i thought since it was a handgun it would work (i did write a support ticket and it was passed to the development team dont know if ill get an answer if they will make the 410/colt 45 acceptable) but i would like to know how to complete these challenges thank you

so, ive been doing the fallow grind and im about 650-700 kills in. ive gotten about 10-12 dimonds total, and im stacking 3 of them. one in my main, 2 in my exterior zones. but i feel like im doing something wrong. im doing hm, i just feel like i need to do something else to speed up this process, or at least help get more dimonds and force respawns

If the quest requires harvests using a handgun you have to use a handgun and handgun ammo

Shotgun ammo doesn't count even if used in a handgun

the 410/colt 45 is a handgun but can shoot shotgun 410 shells so you cant use the 410 to accomplish these challenges? that is incredible hard i bought the anderson .22 dlc and spent a ridiculous amount of money on ammo and absolutely failed trying to harvest upland birds for that challenge .... well thanks i was thinking that was why it didnt work but seems like an oversight since the gun can shoot shotgun shells

If you're grinding for a G1 there's nothing much else to do. G1 is 100% random. Herd management is for diamonds and potential rares to spawn at a bigger % chance.

Like your diamond kill rate is just going to depend on how well managed your map is. It really helps to shoot down all the level 3 150+ scores and all your level 4s in the exteriors. I mean if you already have 3 max level fallow it's gonna be difficult for the game to produce a 4th if the rest of the animals aren't shot down.

Go to all the zones you want to farm and shoot 2 bucks then after you shoot all the buck you need to, then go to main menu and start again.
So if you have 8 zones go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 then go to menu then start at 1 again.

Yee. The game isn't intended for mods (its actually against the t&c) so it can do all sorts of funky things to your game/save data. Unfortunately the way the game is currently built its essentially impossible for them to do anything about restricting modded multiplayer lobbies so we just have to be careful where we play

If you wait for the next sale, you can get the map DLCs for pretty cheap

Overall they drop down to like $4 ish a piece outside of the new ones

And before I wreck the grind I want to make sure it’s all been done correctly

Almost right.
First shoot try to get in the main zones level5s to spawn and at the same time shoot the solos and hope they respawn as level 2s with the weight est below 140kg. So not the 140-175 kg est.

While doing this dont shoot the exterior zones till you have all solos down to level 2s.

After that begin at you’re exterior zones. Same steps as the previous step.

I use this on every grind now that i do. Got it from one of the best grinders here in the servers and can say this is works like a charm.

1 find all zones

2 set up on 10 main zones with 2 males (5-8 animals)

3 start shooting down solos while trying to get lvl 5s in mains

4 once solos are managed work on exterior herd zones an manage those

5 once every exterior is managed take 1 dime per main zone out (preferably smallest dime/est) while doing this run exteriors for bouncers/new zones or held back spawns

6 if anything found shoot them down with remaining stacked 5s

7 once shot down keep taking 1 dime out per main an repeating step 6 until everything is shot down or no dimes left

8 once all 5s are taken out shoot 2-5 on mains an run exteriors every 5-6 runs or when respawns/dime rate falls off (preferably solo private multiplayer)

Restarting or not depends on jow far you are in the grind. How many exterior zones did you manage down already?

1. I dont know what you mean with question one.

2. Multiplayer just helps with finding solos zones. It looks like in singleplayer those solo zones need more time to get to there zone or just doenst show up. In a prived multiplayer sesion can solve this problem (not always when you dealing with respawns are hold back by stacked level 5 males)

3. I can sent you a photo of my last setup on askey when i get home. In about 2 hours.

4. You cant really tell. You just need to keep track of you’re solos and herd zones (main and exterior zones. I do this aswell in the back of my mind. But for most people it takes a couple of HM grinds till they fully know how to do.
   I did like 10 HM Grinds now maybe even more. And i would say only at the last 3 i did it almost perfectly. So it just takes time, dont worry.

For question 5 i am not really into that. I will help you from outside but not gonna join in a server with you. I play on pc btw.

At last. Mulie grind on askey is pretty hard. Most people say its the easiest map of all maps to do this grind.
But believe me, parque is far better.
Why? Because of the larger pop you dont have get that extreme with the HM as on askey ridge to get the same result. So fir example. If you want a dimerate of 1/15 then on askey it take alot more time to get this then on parque because of the population differents.
Askey has 80 males
Parque has 280.
Thats a big differents.
Thats why for the extreme grinders, how much bigger population how better.
Like whitetail and moose in New England Mountains. Mulies on parque. Fallow on emerald coast and red deer on hirshfelden. Those maps have the biggest populations of these specific spieces.
I must say it depends on the species itself aswell because some spieces are easier to get a good dimerate then others.

Think of the respawn logic always trying to achieve a sort of bell curve.
by leaving the low level animals in the pool, the game thinks "wow, there's lots of low level animals, I better spawn some higher level animals to balance this out."
that is why killing the high level ones rolls the dice for more high level spawns.

If you go back in the game, the reindeer should be in the same area. You just gotta find it without it fleeing. Tracker Dog can help with that. Just go real slow and quiet when you get back to the area. It flees easily.
I can't remember if reindeer have a caller but if they do, you can try that too to attract them out of the thick bushes once you hear them alert call

Correct, but make sure you don't harvest them. There's a 50/50 chance they'll swap places when you reset.

DLC options are largely subjective and since it's your money and you're the one playing, you should be the one to decide what DLC you get.

All that said, the Bloodhound, Tents and Tripods, and Feeders DLCs are very useful for all manner of hunting, if you want to look at those.

That is the fur types I believe - piebalds are typically rares and albinos and melanistics are very rare

Every species has their own fur types and fur rarities

If you taxied them, you can actually filter for fur rarity in your lodge now

So I just tried to check my hunting history, but unfortunately since I’m on Xbox I seemingly can’t scroll that to see if I failed to tax any albinos or melas, but I can’t really imagine I would have, since I pretty much looked out for rare fur colors since day one, because I had somebody explain that to me along with the basics in my first days of playing

What I did tax are 2 Albinos, 1 piebald, 2/3 Colinas Mission Wolves and a Pheasant with an ‘uncommon’ fur color according to the companion

Still can’t imagine I shot an Albino or Mela without even noticing it, especially since they both pretty much leap out from the standart furs, but at least that seems more plausible than that I’ve missed three

There is. You just select the map you’re currently hunting on, and have an overview over any animal on there. Select whatever animal you’re currently hunting and you get everything about their need times, their treshhold scores not just for diamond but for gold and silver as well when you need to shot an ‘at least gold’ for a mission, get an Anatomy X-ray so you can see where to place your shot, etc
