Keep a class 9 capable handgun on you for these instances. They're extremely lightweight and sufficient for aggressive big boys. I'm partial to the .45-70 since it can also adequately snipe out to 400m, but you may prefer something with follow-up shot potential.

correct you can discover zones on a quad, tracks last 2 in game hours after they leave

i would recommend you hunt the drink zones if you want an easier setup tho

Awesome thank you, my setup was so quick and I’m so happy about it I’ve been playing for almost 6 years and never did a G1 grind because I was scared of getting bored during setup so when I started this grind on te awaroa I was super shocked that it only took about 120 kills to get managed

Penetration and Expansion aren't 1-1 comparisons, it's relative to that specific caliber. .7mm has better penetration due to it's penetration and velocity compared to .30-06. .30-06, on the other hand, holds it's penetration better at extreme ranges, and has better soft rounds.

Both are entirely overkill for class 4 predators though. Pick your preference.

Yeah, the weapon stats aren't set in stone as much are they rough approximations of the weapons' ability.

You can use the .22-250 at medium range just fine, but avoid the expansion rounds at all costs and don't try to take class 4s even a centimeter beyond 200m.

Both the .223 and .22-250 have phenomenal ballistics but they lose a ton of oomph at long range, dropping from class 2-4 rifles to class 2-3ish.

the real issue with the argus 8-16x scope is that none of the 4-9 guns that can reach far enough out to properly utilize it have enough stability

No, prone is better, but has a tendency to cause your shot to dig into the dirt unless there's an elevation difference. I don't prone as a result.

Shotgun rounds are really kind of RNG and that leads to different experiences. I personally have had nothing but great experience with the 10ga but my time with 12ga has been iffy at best. Most notably it's buckshot, but also bird shot.

As for the zones, they literally depend on your zones on your own map. There are plenty of location guides on the zones potential locations if you need reference points to start with.

If you're talking about either of the DLC lodges, you have to start a multiplayer game and change reserve to lodge in the setup options

depends on what maps you have. if you have just the base maps, focus on getting all points of interest and lore unlocked, all outposts unlocked and do missions. on hirsh you can put down some canada goose stands and get alot of money and xp shooting geese. If you have emerald map, a lot of people focus the crocodile's on the coast. if you catch them when they are resting on the beach you just run down the beach and shoot them. honestly just play, explore and hunt and try to walk, don't run around blindly you'll scare off more animals then you'll shoot if you run everywhere.
silver ridge is a great open map where you turn around from bagging a deer and see something else to shoot. it's fun map.

i like how the game makes "E" for exiting a hunting stand even when using binoculars, so when you try to spot an animal, you instead lumber out of the stand and spook it

i just started playing, but does difficulty somewhat determine the like quality of an animal? would a difficulty 9 be higher(like a diamond or gold) than a difficulty 4? i dont really understand how difficulty makes animal different from eachother either, do animals with a higher difficulty have better like hearing or something?

The level? Yeah, higher level animals have higher intelligence than lower level counterparts

So a level 8 red deer would spook faster than a level 6 for example

And if they're max level that usually means diamond unless they troll, for example red deer max at 9 legendary (unless you have a G1 which is 10 fabled)

Most animals are max at 5 or 9 but some max at 3

There's a perk you can gain access to that tells you an estimate of the animals trophy rating range when you spot it

Helps with finding high score animals rather than relying on exclusively their level since sometimes it can be unreliable

well the 0 is because any female deer won’t have a rating since the rating is based off the antlers, which obviously females don’t have. if you go to a outpost and go to the trophy tab, you should be able to find it there in recent harvests. as for why it didn’t save, you may have forgotten or you didn’t have space, since you can only save 10

My 7mm of choice is the Malmer, BUT if you’re hunting crocs, you’re going to want something that has higher penetration vs higher class, something like the .300 or .375. These two calibers are my go to for high class, but the Sundberg is a great alternative if you like handguns, or higher grain arrows/bolts etc.

The .375 has higher penetration and stopping power, but the .300 has better range. You can get the .300 in bolt action with the .300 Canning Magnum, or the .300 Arzyna, which is a semi auto rifle.

No, if you want a clean trophy

If you get like a super rare piebald buck sometime, you can make a clean multi mount

But that female if u shoot with the arzyna it won’t be a clean multi

It’s your choice but just for ethicality (if you call it that) I prefer to shoot my females as ethically as a buck

What ended up happening was 1 herd actually couldn't move. I inital thought it was 4 bucks and 2 does but 2 solos joined them. Then I just shot the last herd buck down. But yeah it ended up spawning in the deadzone because there was no other choice. I do need to check the mains for solos now. Maybe I can get that last herd over. Just be careful and don't shoot any does if you just killed a bunch of bucks. Because the herd can slip or disband.
