they are very much viable for the game - but do mind your class of animal and the range the weapon covers.
I find that they aren'T as effective on the last of the class range (say a gun covers like 2-6, it might struggle with 5 and really struggle with 6, unless PERFECT shot placement)

It can be spelled as graylag in the US, but originally it is greylag since it's an european goose

They key thing you need to know with aim is the zeroing point - which is how much distance you have to be from the target for the crosshairs (or pin dot in the case of compound bows) to be exactly where you hit. If I remember correctly, the standard zeroing is 40m for the compounds which means your middle pin will be a perfect shot at 40m out. The upper pin is for your 20m shots. The lower pin for your 60m shots

Wind direction and speed can be quite the factor for anything over 40-60m so best to keep to those distances. You can hit the shooting range in hirschfelden for a free shooting range or the Parque Fernando Archery Range if you have it or can find a multiplayer lobby. This will help in figuring out pin distance or where on the single pin = what range. That or you can just use the range finder bow sight and "cheat" if you have the dlc.

I swear though the single pin should have little black lines for 60-100m ranges, it being a single black dot with the rest being green is a waste lol.

if you hit the lower part of the trunk, it’ll stop at the tree, but if it can pass thru, no it would be like it isn’t there

there are some trees that you can shoot thru the top if you’re in a tree stand, it just depends how that trees hitbox is

I'm playing on the Emerald Coast Australia map and I'm killing crocodiles, and some of the crocodiles I kill and leave behind to retrieve later. So, if I leave the crocodiles behind and leave the map to play another one or do something else, when I come back will the dead crocodiles still be there for me to retrieve, or will they disappear? If they disappear, do I need to leave the map open and retrieve them after I've done what I need to do?

Personally I'd shoot both mains and exteriors at the same time

As you stack more diamonds, it's gonna be harder for you to start spawning higher level males in your mains, so spawning some small males in your exteriors will balance it out again, allowing you to stack more 9s

And then repeat the cycle

As runs go by you'll start spawning more and more 4s and below in exteriors, and at the same time, spawning a few more 9s in your mains. Essentially both big and small males will help balance out your respawns

A got a lot that are down to multiple 4s and females. 1 lake has a TON of males that range from 4-8. Only got 1 piebald though so far. I used to visit every zone but ones that are all 4s I've been leaving alone for the most part. Found 4?ish level 9s during my last round but havent taken em yet. I want to so badly but idk if I need to keep shooting 5-8s or just say screw it and target my 9s and see what happens

Yea shooting all your drink zones at once is good, and yea shooting your level 5 - 8 stags until they respawn as small 4s in exteriors is definitely the way to go for now

It may be tempting but until you finish your herd managment you shouldn't touch your 9s

And just in case, make sure that you're stacking 9s in mains, and 4s and below in exteriors

Some people mix them up, so just wanna make sure

There is no way to do this and even if there was... just no. I know it sucks when you really want something and don't have the funds yet for it, but its better to make getting it a goal and saving up where you can

Take your scope off and don't really lead them until they're 100m or more away. The geese fly slower than you think and your bullets fly faster than you think. Use iron sights or a 1x sight and just barely lead in front of them if they're at long range.

Multiplayer can be like that. You're jumping on maps that other hunters are also frequenting and shooting.

There's a way around, it may be shallow water. Walk a circle around your target location and you'll find it.

G1 grinding is far simpler than herd management. Shoot and always harvest every male mule you see. That's it in a nutshell. You can set up feeders and find all of their zones and rotate through them to speed things up.

General rule for g1's
If the animal maxes at:

Level 9: Keep 4's and below in exteriors (excluding wolves, 5's and below for them)

Level 5: Keep 2's and below (With the exception of a few small 3's)

Level 3: Keep Level 1's (With the exception of a few small 2's)

This doesn't mean you can't do even better herd managment, like 3's and below for animals maxing at 9, or target specifically lower weight estimate 2's for animals that max at 5. These are just the usual minimum levels people tend to go for

hey guys... i have a quest here in layton lakes to kill several coyotes with a .270... but coyote is class 2, and .270 is for 4-8. is it because coyotes are not a "trophy" animal, or is there something i misunderstand about this system...?

It's a specific animal as in it's always a lvl 5 Roosevelt elk. It's a random lvl5 elk Evey time you load the game. It's not even a guaranteed diamond.

So I was wondering if it's possible for the lvl 5 to randomly be a rare too. It's a different animal with different fur types every time

yeah it is possible i’m pretty sure, there was a bug back in the day where there was a chance for mr. black (layton mission animal) to be a great one, so i don’t see why a rare wouldn’t be possible. there’s also been pictures of the first doe you see on layton as a rare & that is a guarenteed spawn everytime on a fresh account or new game

Okay, the top lakes are good places to start, then the right side big squarish lake on the border is amazing too, the dotted lakes are amazing and there’s a few lakes in the mid left side that are decent, I hm’ed the right lake, middle left lakes, and one of the left and right middle lakes on the middle point of the map, but look at the top of the map and slowly go down, also by the way, for herd management, keep Lvl 1’s and sometimes extremely small 2’s and cycle between 3-5 lakes for a grind cycle.

Hey, I've been grind reindeer in Medved Taiga for two weeks now. I've been visiting all the watering holes and only killing fourth-class reindeer. Now I only have third-class reindeer on the map. How does this work? I've watched the guides, it seems to do what they suggest, but I still can't grow a diamond.

It's largely RNG. There's a chance they will respawn a bit smaller, instead of a bit bigger, so you could be having terrible luck.

I'd also make sure to search other zones if you haven't already found all of them, just to be safe. If you're shooting solos or duos they could be moving.

Just walk around water areas at drink times and find your zones. Your zones will be different than someone else's. Does it take a hot minute, yes. But you'll find zones and probably other trophies as you explore. And you'll see what water spots you like and which ones you dont so you can pick which ones you prefer to hunt.
