What I did was wander the map with a shotgun with birdshot and slug rounds, a rifle with the beginner soft point. Discover locations, find the look out points, and bag turkeys and rabbits, with following the questline and getting money off of white/black tail.

maybe you'll get lucky and startle a bear/moose to attack you, put a slug in the head. Not the prettiest/ideal but it got me a good amount of cash to start narrowing in on more focused hunts

Edit: Plus it'll lead you to discovering need zones and level a dog if you have one. get more comfortable the game mechanics.

just make sure to switch to a slug when you're not actively aiming for the class 1. You don't want to get downed by a moose because you decided to mist it with bird shot.

Also for the soft points, they shatter (expansion) so you'll get best results by aiming broadside to cover the lungs and heart of deer, aim just past the triceps so the fragments expand across the vitals, not the muscle, you might also get it counted as a heart shot which will net you more. Happy hunting 💚

if you have the retriever dog thats your best bet, also you can track them while they fall so you know or you can also check your map to your last spotted if you spotted it and mark that spot and you can track blood from there

Depends on what you want to hunt. Te Awaora is great for Fallow, Red deer, feral goats and some other medium/small game.

The Alberta map is the best for Mule deer, has some good moose action, wolves and beavers.

Revontuli for whitetail and lots of waterfowl/bird hunting, also good for moose and brown bear.

Guess it depends on your favorite animals to hunt. People say Silver Ridge is one of the best starter maps too.

Iirc scent eliminator doesn't work 100% it just reduces

Black usually has some other color on it too, on the mink the little patch of fur on their chin is not black and on marten the chest area isn't black. Melanistics are fully black on both of those.

With albino, usually they have pink paws/hooves and a pink nose, sometimes reddish eyes too

I don't think there's any animal where there would be a distinction between a red and erythristic fur type

Feeders and callers are sooo useful for missions like those

Using both the handheld caller whilst travelling and then the remote caller to keep the critter in place

Is the remote caller good for flying species? The handheld callers range is typically 500yds or so, is the electronic caller the same? Or just the stated 200 or so yards for all species?

The electronic caller isn’t really needed for birds given they’ll come in at the same rate with full decoys in my experience

And the electronic caller has a shorter range than their handheld callers for the birds which are all 500 meters (apparently 546 yards according to google) so yeah not really a huge improvement over decoys and handheld callers

By running around on your maps. Grinding turkeys is inefficient because you have to kill the whole flock for respawns and after the flock is killed, they’ll respawn somewhere random. Just run around n your maps and search hard within turkey home ranges.

That's something that will feel much better when you achieve it yourself! Focus on learning how to approach animals, line up your shot, and get clean kills. Once you start to get a real good feel of that, you'll be able to run around and essentially pick your trophies

Fairly new player (Played a decent amount on Xbox but never really got all that far), got it on steam and even got a large chunk of the weapon packs and a few of the hunting reserves. As a new player, should i stick to the two starting reserves and use the starting equipment to learn more about the basics of the game, or is it more like no matter what you're doing/where you're going its fine?.... I remember playing this on xbox a few years ago and feeling like i wasn't getting anywhere "fast" with progression and the like, but that might have been because i hopped around reserves a lot without learning too much about the basics.

New player here, how do y'all prep for hunts, especially as a newbie? Do you take a collection of guns like the game starts you off with out and just hunt whatever?... Or should you only take a specific gun and certain gear out and plan to hunt a specific animal?

I have most of the weapon packs, the bloodhound, and a good handful of the reserves if this helps answer this question!

I always take an array of guns that cover the classes of all animals on a reserve, then I just go out and hunt whatever I find. I personally don't think it's good to just target one animal since you never know when you find a diamond or a rare of another species

the ones i DON'T have are Hunter's choice, Modern Rifles, Assorted Sidearms, and Scopes and Crosshairs

For layton I usually do:
Arzyna 300 (classes 7-9) for: moose, elk and black bear
.308 AR (classes 4-8) for: whitetail and blacktail

• since you don't have this, really any classes 4-8 rifle will do, for example the Hansson 30-06 is good. You can also just use the ranger .243, but it won't be as powerful

Ranger .243 (classes 2-6) for: coyote (whitetail and blacktail too)

Virant .22 (class 1) for: mallard, jackrabbit and turkey

You can also do a shotgun for the class 1 species if you want, usually I just shoot them from a longer distance with the virant .22

The idea is you don’t want to shoot solos since they’ll just respawn elsewhere and you’ll lose track of them. It doesn’t really matter that much since you don’t really need to know where your solo females are but it’s good for organizing

you have to make sure you’re hunting them in their home range, using the fermented mash, if the feeder isn’t getting boars than just put it in another area.

i hunt them from 5-6 and 18-19

no, the feeder has a 400 m attraction radius, you also have to make sure to change the time to the next day after adding feed, because they won’t be able to find the zone right away, they have to walk within the 400m attraction range to know that it’s there

I have loadouts for specific types of hunting, like waterfowl, turkeys, small game, and big game. I also do night hunting so I have a loadout for night vision stuff. If you want to get in a server I can show you some of the maps if you’re interested in getting one.

So, whenever I across a herd of animals whether it’s deer, moose, anything in vurhonga, etc, I’ll shoot one and the rest just stand there like their buddy didn’t just get shot in the dome piece. I can literally run up next to them and slime them point blank. Also, flocks of birds in the sky with just be flying in place, not moving anywhere. Before, the herd would flee just like everyone else’s game.

Best thing to do is take it slower and run less. Idk if there are any guides (I'm thinking of making a video on it) but it's better to be flexible in your thought for this imo.

The "rule" I use as someone who often just runs around the map is if something alerts that I want to hunt, I stop moving and count to five before proceeding more slowly. Every time it alerts I repeat the process until I'm at a slow crouch walk and then just halt as needed.

Yeah. Keep an eye on that meter as you move around at different speeds in different terrain. It starts at 3 dots when you're still and gets white bars as you get louder. Followed by red bars when you are being really loud

There are skills that help with the noise you make as well

Bronze you'll only get if you are shooting bronze level animals or botch a silver level animal. Look for higher difficulty ratings - instead of "1 - trivial" look for higher ones. Different species can reach different difficulties which can take some learning

You don't get new animals to spawn until you kill and harvest one of that species and sex. There's some with different conditions (ie fox often are in pairs and you have to kill both for respawns) but generally that's the process.
