One thing that I think will be worth a try (its fixed a few random issues lately for people) is verifying your game files. You can do this by right clicking on the game in your library > Properties > Installed Files. It'll be the bottom option "Verify integrity of game files"

I have a lot of lvl 2 whitetail with decent racks. When shooting zones do I target the lower weight (up to 85lbs) with decent racks first? Leave the max weights (up to 100) be for now? Or vice versa? Or target both? I've read to shoot every 2. I just want more high golds and dimes on my map instead of silvers and low golds. Not too pressed about G1s.

You can try to shoot the very biggest max weights if you’d like, to stack some big 2s and diamonds in good spots
Then leave em for a bit and start shooting down the deer in areas you dislike to shoot

They drink from 10:00-13:00

Te awaroa usually have 30-35 zones, including solos

I wouldnt recomend grinding If you are really New at The game tho

I Pretty much managed The whole map in 500 kills

Someone refusing to help you start a great one grind does not permit you being an ass. Idk if thats the intention but to me your comments kinda come off as selfish/entitled. And besides, thats something you gotta do yourself anyways. You want my advice? Use Te Awaora. Look at your zones -- theyre largely similar but different enough for everyone that you have to look for yourself. Tent accordingly. Use outposts as tent spots so you don't have to waste tent slots

Big difference between "help me with my great one grind" and "mission seems to be bugged, am I doing doing something wrong?"

Or you can just go on over to #🦌︴great-ones and ask for fallow setup screenshots so you can place tents in spots that seem to be pretty universal

I have never tried it, but I doubt it. I am playing on a gaming laptop too and started with ultra settings. The game looked fantastic, but I had some frame drops, so I reduced the graphics to high. It still looks pretty good, but I already see a drop off especially at the vegetation. And you have a lot of vegetation in the game.

• dont expect massive trophies right off the bat, everyones map has a couple initial diamonds and MAYBE an initial rare fur/feather, but you wont have things totally stacked until later after some hunting has gone through
• compare weapon class with class of animal you are hunting
  • you can inspect the weapon/ammo in the shop pages, and see what range of classes it covers
  • .243 is your starter gun iirc, and its good for Classes 2 through 6
    • So think like, Raccoons (2), Roe (3), Blacktail (4), Whitetail (4), Mule Deer (5) and Gray Wolf (6)
    • In my experience, the way the Devs coded the ballistics makes them useable at the higher end of the class range BUT you need more precise shot placement. So while a .243 can kill a gray wolf - shooting it in a non lethal area will yield very poor results.. whereas shooting a raccoon in a normally non lethal area probably could kill it.
• Speaking of shooting animals..
  • You WILL have lots of wobble and sway in the beginning. We all dealt with it. Go slow, be sure, hold your breath when aiming.
    • You can spec into better sway/wobble control with skills and perks - so read those thoroughly and plan ahead.
    • Breath holding is also useful to extend the time you can hold said breath/decrease sway during holding
    • In the beginning you can crouch/squat or even lay down to help mitigate the sway a bit while holding breath until you get better skills
  • Don't take risky shots, wait til you have a clear LOS and no trees or bushes intersecting your lane
  • Don't take head shots - it's gonna ruin your trophy more often than not
    • Not enough animals are clear for headshots (Gators, crocs, anything class 1)
  • Aim for the armpit of MOST quadrupedal animals to get a lung shot

Only thing to add to Tyks message is if theyre front facing (i mostly only do this on deer, moose, etc) is if you aim right in the pectoral area right below the neck but not all the way at the bottom, you'll often get a lung shot as well and sometimes heart shot. That shot-however - does take practice when you're new. So if you try it, dont be discouraged if you dont hit the right spot right off the bat. Once I get a kill and can look at the trophy screen I'll switch between the anatomy shot view and the normal animal view to study their anatomy so I can figure out where to shoot based on how theyre standing

My pointer does this lately. Idk if its a bug or what. Usually I can get him to track properly after being on the blood trail for a little bit. Just make sure they aren't too far away from you while you manually trail 3ish blood spots before sending them to track. I keep my dog on heel if he isnt searching or tracking.

Those are the difficulty levels of the animal.
Whitetail - for example- only have 3 levels except for Great One. Usually the bigger the level the better the animal (not always the case, but ideally). Also means they spook faster than the lower levels. So your level 3 whitetail buck might run if it hears you where the level 1 buck might just stand there like ????

Oh that the class! So like...how big the animal is and what kind of weapon you might need. So like birds are class 1 - most deer are class 3-5 like your roe, whitetail, mule, etc. Bigger is like bears, elk, moose, bison. Those can be class 7-9 . 9 being the biggest.

It helps you know what gun and ammo to use so you can get clean kills and better trophy ratings!
When you look at ammo in the store or inventory and you see what class it does you'll know what it can handle.

Just single those out and set up on zones with at least 2 male in the herd, and make sure none of them are solos

And just put your tents and whatnot 200m from your main zones

I've been spawning a awful lot of level 4 wolves on my grind recently and im not hming, is that a sign that the g1 is going to spawn soon or am I doing something wrong?

There are missions that are still broken on New England since release, I've been pestering them almost monthly but I think a random mission on a 3 year old map isn't where their priorities lie (ie. it doesn't bring in money anymore)

Having lvl 4s and 5s is a good thing so long as you dont shoot the 4s and 5s. On my current grind I've been getting at least 1 lvl 9 per 10 kills and only have like 7 zones I can shoot on. Moral of the story is the more lower lvl animals you have the higher the chance of a diamond or G1 spawning. But there really isn't a way of knowing how soon it will spawn, it can still take 2k kills on a perfectly herd managed map

if there is 3 wolves and one of them is a 4 or a 5 I am avoiding shooting it though

Shooting a few is fine. I personally leave them and if that zone turns into nothing but 4s or 5s I'll just use a different zone. G1 can spawn at any time herd managing or not and I've seen ppl get then within 40 kills and others around 2500-3k so it's really just a matter of patience and just keep going till it does spawn

If respawns get stuck, I sometimes do a couple rotations and shoot the 1 biggest male in every zone - usually it frees up the respawns to go back to normal
